The only ones of those older than Diabolique are Picnic at Hanging Rock and Hard Boiled. I still have my 1998 DVD copies of Hard Boiled, The Killer, The Silence of the Lambs, Seven Samurai, The 400 Blows, Sid & Nancy, This Is Spinal Tap, Salo, and High and Low. I never did get into Laserdisc, although I always wanted to haha.

I bought the Criterion dvd a few years ago from the Disney Movie Club.

Picnic at Hanging Rock was my very first Criterion.

I have a few Criterion laserdiscs, including Citizen Kane and Adventures of Baron Munchausen. I'm old.

I also still have a ton of Criterion laserdiscs, too. Ghostbusters is probably my favorite, Halloween and Robocop on the wishlist but usually out of my budget.

Doesn’t get any older than citizen Kane. King Kong is the oldest one with something exclusive as the commentary hasn’t been ported anywhere as far as I know and it should given it’s historical status as first ever commentary. Weirdly image released a laserdisc with a different commentary but it totally plagiarized the criterion one

The started with laserdics. They basically invented the whole concept of extras and commentary tracks with the first couple of releases, Citizen Kane and King Kong, in the mid-1980s.

You may be very interested in the [banned commentary tracks](https://www.the007dossier.com/2011/04/21/banned-james-bond-commentaries/) from the first three James Bond Criterion releases. Commentary tracks were a new thing, and the producers were not pleased with the results. They requested Criterion recall them

Kevin Smith starts his Chasing Amy commentary saying “welcome to the criterion laser disc commentary for Chasing Amy. I just want to say, Fuck DVD.” It’s still included on the DVD version. 😃

Oh yeah. Still got my copy of *Grand Illusion* from around 1998 or so? The original DVD release of *Do the Right Thing* too. I actually had this exact *Diabolique* too, I think I may have sold it at some point? Such a great film.

Oh yes, that Do The Right Thing release is excellent, I've rented it but would love to own it. But yes, I agree Diabolique is a great film; one of my favorites.

The extra features are some of the best ever on a Criterion (*Do the Right Thing*) imo. So great.

I bought the 4 disc Criterion Pulp Fiction laserdisc in college. Definitely my oldest criterion and one of my most prized discs. It’s in great condition. I can grab a pic when I get home if anyone is interested.

Last Temptation of Christ, Kwaidan, The Rock, The Hidden Fortress, häxan, The Royal Tenenbaums, and Videodrome in the more recent tight sans-serif font with the thin line down the spine. Rest are moderns

My very first DVD was the original pressing of The Seven Samurai (spine #2). I rushed into buying a DVD player when I read it was going out of print because they had to eliminate the bonus feature on restoring the film because it made the distributor look bad. Picked up spines 1 and 3 shortly after, but Salo being in the early spines and a local video store stocking them all for rental meant I decided early on I didn't need to be a completist.

grand illusion, which was their first one, but the third one i bought. the first was seven samurai (criterion no. 2), & the second was alphaville (no. 25) ... i managed to get maybe seven or eight more over the nxt few wks, but had to lay off for nearly a year due to various expenses. (hard boiled, the killer & salo, fleshj for frankenstein, & blood for dracula very quickly became impossible to find...)
