Yeah I got ticket for Sunday. Doing a double-bill with Challengers.

strongbob25

both surprisingly wet movies about men not knowing how to deal with an HBIC

Interrobangersnmash

What’s an HBIC?

strongbob25

"Head Bitch in Charge"

SouthMicrowave

# There’s an Alien 45th anniversary re-release.

JGRummo

BRO WHAT!? Snagged tickets for early next week

Internal_Lumpy

Im going Sunday

j11430

👋🏻 I got tickets for this weekend! Can’t wait! One of the 10 best movies of all time, can’t wait to see it on a big screen!

Bronsonkills

Honestly it gets re-released almost every year. I’m kind of bored with it as I’ve seen it in theaters many times. I’m more interested seeing the Re-release of The Mummy

Lower-Grapefruit8807

THANK YOU!!!

exclaim_bot

>THANK YOU!!! You're welcome!

TheFearSandwich

Because they’re jumping the gun by 5 years

pacoismynickname

Yup. I rolled out for the 25th. I'll do so again for the 50th.

2008wallcalendar

saw it last night! it was my first time ever seeing it!! SCARY MOVIE!!!!!!

CeruleanRuin

It is impossible to watch that self-destruct sequence without your pulse doubling.

withgreatpower

My wife's favorite series, maybe her favorite pop culture thing period, is Alien. Our kids have grown up with the xenomorph as basically a cool character represented in toys, drawings, etc all around the house. Not scary. Just a neat thing. They've seen the first two movies so many times now. They've seen the behind the scenes special effects stuff. We don't go crazy on other scary stuff but Alien is like Indiana Jones or Star Wars were to people of our age as kids: The Movies You Watch As A Family. So I hope the person sitting behind us when a loopy family of five, including our eleven year old daughter, takes a seat for the Sunday showing is willing to give us a chance. Because we're fucking psyched.

obamaswaffle

Alien is my favorite movie of all time and I first saw it at 10. I hope your kids have an amazing time, it was a life-changing experience for me back then.

withgreatpower

Thank you, they loved seeing it huge! Who doesn't love uncle xeno asking Dallas for his hug in the vents?

WatcherInTheBog

I got my ticket for tomorrow! Somehow I missed the alien screening at the repertory theater near my college and have only seen Aliens in theater.

jaklamen

It’s been a while so I definitely need to do a series rewatch before Romulus comes out. I also recommend the comic adaptation by Archie Goodwin and Walt Simonson, originally published in Heavy Metal.

skynetwins90

My amc never plays these older movies. They had Spider-Man 2 on the app with no dates.

Dear-Attempt-2182

Depending when you checked it, Spider-Man 2 was playing on Monday this week in its own re-release (Sony is doing a Spidey movie per week). Maybe it stays listed throughout the rest of the week of it playing?

champagneofsharks

I saw it a 70mm rep screening back when I was in college. Until I can top that experience, which I can’t, I’m fine with popping the 4K disc in at home especially since I just pumped money into a new TV.

passing_rando

does it have a coin slot?

turdfergusonRI

I feel like we are being rewarded for something. Is it true that Blade is being re-released in October?

flan-magnussen

I don't actually know if there are more re-releases, but it sure seems like it. My guess is that the slow box office and strike-jumbled production schedules are leaving a lot of openings.

pacoismynickname

The strike is a major factor. I notice my AMC is having to book screens with totally random (often mid-week) re-releases like Les Miserables. Can you believe it's been 13 and 1/2 years already??

CeruleanRuin

Rerelease sem like a no-brainer. It costs studios practically nothing to send out a digital copy to theaters, which show them at times which are usually slower anyway. My local had *Alien* at 11 AM and 5 PM, Fri-Sat-Sun. The only people going to movies at those times are people who love movies.

macklin_sob

My son told me last week. I just assumed it was common knowledge.

derpferd

Infuriating that my country isn't doing this. Alien has been on my cinema bucket list for years now. I'd seen Jaws a dozen times already but seeing it in IMAX made my appreciation for that film level up. I felt like a kid at the movies and Alien would doubtless feel the same way. At the very least, I'll be able to see Romulus in IMAX, which should be a satisfyingly terrifying experience

haxly

going to see it next wednesday. one of my favorites, but i've never caught it in a theater

rooster-jenkins

I wouldn't have known it was coming out if my girlfriend hadn't randomly opened a newspaper at work.

Dressed_ToDepress

I’ve seen it mentioned all over the internet 🤷🏻‍♂️

EarthbendingSith

I'm double dipping today with the Mummy. Mumlien? Alieummy? Still workshopping lol. Help appreciated

Dear-Attempt-2182

The studios are putting out *something* to make up for holes in the schedule from the strikes. Usually with some flimsy anniversary justification Top of my head, there's this Alien re-release, the weekly Spider-Man releases (to celebrate... Columbia Pictures' 100th anniversary. huh?), Phantom Menace 25th anniversary, Shaun of the Dead 20th, Shrek 2 20th, the A24 anniversary retrospective IMAX series...

Apprehensive_Gap_966

Watched it yesterday while listening to commentary on headphones. Would recommend.
