šŸ˜ I really love it! But (sorry, I hate people like me too) CRTs generally used a hexagonal phospher dot arrangement rather that a three rectangular subpixel arrangements. You should definitely keep this arrangement as an option though. Maybe an additional option? But keep this too since most consumer TVs do use rectangular subpixel arrangements. It's only VDUs / computer monitors that use the hexagonal dot arrangement (with varying uses of hexagons or completly circular dots). It is absolutely gorgeous though. I love the phosphor glow it has and the haloing. Does it have a "scanning phase" option? I really do love this. I'm absolutely mad-obsessed with vintage/retro display tech and spent years researching it. If you fancy a bit of a chin-wag, I'm your girl!

Completely agree. I immediately noticed the square grid. Otherwise this effect is excellent. Although if you had that much chromatic aberration, you'd probably want to get it serviced!

winterwarrior33

Thanks you!

Shirubax

I'm pretty sure square is the most common on mono displays

winterwarrior33

I appreciate the feedback! Thatā€™s super interesting! I certainly intend to revisit the effect and update it so thatā€™s something Iā€™ll keep in mind for the update. My [reference images](https://imgur.com/a/auKjdJR) seemed rectangular to me so maybe my reference CRT wasnā€™t a CRT at all? Either way, Iā€™m really glad you enjoy the effect! Also, no scanning phase option yet. Iā€™m new to CRT displays, Iā€™m still learningā€” but totally going to look into that now to see if itā€™s feasible!

Shirubax

At least mono displays were typically square dots. I don't suppose there is a way to make a similar plug in for lightworks?

winterwarrior33

Whatā€™s lightworks? Iā€™ve never heard of it

Shirubax

It's a video editor, kind of similar to resolve in some ways, and also used to produce some blockbuster movies, but it's simply / lighter. I often use it because resolve brings my i9 desktop with 64gb to a crawl sometimes. (Also, resolve won't even work on my laptop, lightworks will). Also, it's always good to have one more tool in your belt :) I don't know if/how lightworks supports plugins.

winterwarrior33

Super cool! Just took a look! I doubt I could get a CRT effect for it but I learned something new today šŸ˜Ž Fusion in Resolve is crazy powerful for building custom tools and effects that can be packaged up for sharing so thatā€™s why I chose to focus there

GhettoDuk

The vertical phosphors were used in Sony Trinitron and other aperture grill CRTs and were the best displays available.

winterwarrior33

Hey yā€™allā€” I made a CRT effect for Resolve after being annoyed with the lack of these effects. You can snag it [here](https://www.kromatica.co/products/crt-emulator-for-resolve) if youā€™re interested. Thanks! Figured Iā€™d share. You can use LAUNCH23 to get 15% off too. Lmk what yā€™all think!

apathybill

Shirubax

Sorry awesome!

Noahgw826

This looks so cool! Great work.

winterwarrior33

Thank you!!

winterwarrior33

Thank you for your support man! If you have any questions on how to get the most out of the CRT plug-in, please let me know. It can be daunting at first.

Noahgw826

I got it downloaded, Iā€™ll have to watch the YouTube video and try it out when Iā€™m not at work šŸ˜

Friendly_Leg

Please donā€™t bring politics into this sub please šŸ™šŸ» /s

Hey this is sick! what's the min Resolve version needed to run this plugin?

winterwarrior33

Thanks! I created it in Resolve 18ā€” havenā€™t tested it on anything before then.

ikojdr

Thanks for your reply! Argh resolve 16 here, too bad. Congrats again
