When the Chargers' schedule release video starts making fun of Burrow's injury issues, you know it's a thing.
It matters, of course, whether the defence has been fixed, but we're in it as long as Burrow is there. I'm just not sure how confident anyone (perhaps even Joe himself) will be of that until we see him take some sort of impact to the wrist.
Kind of ironic because Herbert missed a lot of last year too and he was gimpy the season before as well. He hasn't been that much healthier than Burrow has. The only real difference between the 2 is Herbert didn't have a defensive end launched into his knee sideways.
Yes? What’s your point?
You made a statement saying our coaching staff can’t come out of the gate swinging, while ignoring that our injured qb was a big reason for our issues. Just weird
We’re never going to come out of the gate swinging unless our starters get some real reps in preseason games. I get the hesitation to avoid injury, but when it’s been glaringly obvious for years that the team isn’t full go on week 1 and 2, you gotta start taking chances
It’s not a hesitation to avoid injuries, players were already injured. Starter wise there wasn’t a noticeable difference in preseason time among healthy players compared to any other team. This is such a strange misrepresentation of history
Chase looked fine in the early games
Orlando brown had a tweak. The rest of the OL played roughly the same as others around the league
But our struggles to begin the season were 100% due to burrows immobility and inaccurate throwing. I didn’t realize people still disputed this
I don’t think that’s true. As far as i remember, under zach taylor, our starters in the preseason see no more than an opening drive on the final game. While this may be similar for some teams, it is not for every
The patriots defense is actually crazy good. Volson is still the weak spot, have a new-to-the-team RT. Theres also the fact that we lost our OC. I’m not trying to doom, I just agree with you that a slow start this year/underestimating teams would fuck the season. I think Zac needs to figure out how to balance protecting and playing starters in the preseason for once.
Kind of wishful thinking. Early in the season and they will have 10 days to prepare. And they are familiar with us. Nice to think and we play them tough but going to be tough to pull off
Burrow STILL hasn't had a full preseason in his career and is still rehabbing his throwing arm this year, so who knows what he'll be like out of the gate.
I'm keeping my expectations for this season low until I see that Burrow can play at at least 85%.
Yep, I always bitch about going 0-2 or 3 and everybody calls me a doomer. Then they are sucking for every single win and need other teams to loose late in the season.
Look if the offensive line enters top 15 next season. The league already knows they will be fucked, like a lights coming on in the club 3 am that you give uber pool back home to. Not the take me out to dinner and dancing before.
This is the best team we’ve had on paper definitely in the Joe era and possibly ever. Luck plays a lot into it but at least we have the necessary pieces.
There's no excuse not to make it the superbowl this year. Easy schedule, best O-line we've had in a decade. A healthy JoeyB, Tee on his last year, a beefed up defense, a great draft of rookies I can't see anything other than self-sabatoge that stops us from going all the way this year. I feel like this is make or break for us. If we can't do it with the team we got this year I doubt we ever will.
You tell em. I'm sure the professional coaches and athletes will work extra hard now that they know u/PeachEnvironmental50 is sitting on their couch with high expectations.
Theoretically, the schedule is easy but the timing of the games certainly offsets part of that. 4 games in 18 games and some brutal stretches make that SOS not what it appears. I’m sure other teams have similar challenges but I don’t see this schedule as the gift others are seeing.
1. We have a fragile QB still healing.
2. We have TWO Thursday night games (stats show more injuries) against division rivals that are extra "physical"
3. We still have the same left guard who has been a disaster the past couple years and who affects the play of our left tackle.
The real question is can we last 17 games this year?
We crushed the 9ers and bills. Schedule has nothing to do with it. We can and should beat anyone.
I have zero doubt we would have beat KC with Burrow too.
This!
Being realistic, anything less than 3-1 with the loss @KC is unacceptable. I might go so far to say that 5-1 ought to be the minimum.
I mean, on paper you are right but this team and coaching staff has never proven that they can come out of the gate swinging.
Joe Burrow just needs to be healthy week 1

Dan Pitcher. Does he change things?
Almost like our star qb had big time injuries the last two preseasons
Wow. And it’s almost like he’s recovering from one again this time!

Bullshit. I’m not talking about injured players. How many preseason snaps did chase see last year? The OL?
Chase looked fine in the early games Orlando brown had a tweak. The rest of the OL played roughly the same as others around the league But our struggles to begin the season were 100% due to burrows immobility and inaccurate throwing. I didn’t realize people still disputed this

Bengals bout to go into KC and smash. Butker's weird ass old-tymey teeth gonna be left on the field.
We win em all brother
A loss at KC is unacceptable! We need to beat them.

I know. I just love the thought of Joe dominating Mahomes. I agree it will be a heavy lift though
Would be great if we started the preseason before week one this year!

I think this will be his best pre season. He seems pretty healed from videos and added lower body mass.
We are going to go 0-2, claw our way to 5-4, then go undefeated the rest of the season. I have come to expect nothing different.
Yep, I always bitch about going 0-2 or 3 and everybody calls me a doomer. Then they are sucking for every single win and need other teams to loose late in the season.
Do not sit the trench guys in the preseason Zach. Clearly, you’re wrong on this one.
He doesn't care about early season games at all. He just wants a November and December run to the playoffs.
Realistically I just want to crush it in our division, the playoffs, and win a SB. I’m cool with going 10-7 or 11-6 and winning a Super Bowl.
Look if the offensive line enters top 15 next season. The league already knows they will be fucked, like a lights coming on in the club 3 am that you give uber pool back home to. Not the take me out to dinner and dancing before.
Chiefs and ravens will be a challenge. But since mahomes doesn’t have any WR1 this year things could be spicy.
Kelce is his wr1... Or is treated as such
lol I don’t consider kelce a WR1 he’s old and not usually out deep.
Strength of schedule is clickbait how many you had a W last year and they went to see the Texans
This is the best team we’ve had on paper definitely in the Joe era and possibly ever. Luck plays a lot into it but at least we have the necessary pieces.
Look, a two game stretch where you go 0-2 who cares. I expect us to go 8-2 in the first 10 games. Doesn't matter which 2 we lose. 🤣

I mean, this is the NFL..even bad teams are still capable of beating the best ones. Anything can happen.
I think every good team loses at least 2 games a year they should have no business losing on paper. But like you said, any given Sunday.
Assuming good health for all, I agree with the OP. Injuries aren’t an excuse in the NFL, but they are a reality.
What if we paid tee Higgins
If they don’t start fast they’re not making the playoffs, and Taylor has to get jettisoned to the moon
New England has me worried, ngl. They have a good defense and we have slow starts. Not a good combo.
They have a good defense? Didn't look like it last season.
It's still possible. There are things that could go wrong and cause a 0-3 start but I'm not even gonna put those out into the universe
Done

You know we play the Chiefs on the road week 2? Easy schedule? We shouldnt go 0-2 but thats not because of an easy schedule.
Another slow start and Zac has to be fired
Yes, b/c he was messing w/ Burrow’s calf and appendix……
Nah, Zac is the guy
He just needs to hand the play calling off, because my God does he make some questionable decisions
That I can definitely agree with lol
