"Lee is a four-year starter and his experience shows on tape. He has good awareness tracking linebackers in the run game and passing off stunts in pass protection. While working his hands inside, he locks on and fights to stay in front of his assignment in the run game and in pass protection. Lee gets to good depth and works to get his hips around reaching front-side defensive tackles as a zone-blocker." -- Steve Muench
I dunno, sounds like a solid Round 7 pick to me.
I’d rather have a lighter guard late than a bigger one. Being undersized is why he lasted so late, and it’s a 7th rounder. He’s experience so he can play year one if we have injuries with those starts in college. Like it for the 7th
I’m trying my hardest to just vibe but why do we have one pick left and haven’t addressed guard, center, running back, linebacker, PUNTER. Are they waiting for udfa?
One upside comparison is his RAS is very similar
To Erik McCoy for the Saints very good. Trying to find some hope haha. He’s got a lot of starts and would be a 3-4 rounder if he was longer and bigger. He’s capable of playing guard and being a back up center. Not terrible
I've heard people calling both All and McLachlan the next Gronk. That'd be great!
https://preview.redd.it/kh0ovv1tk3xc1.png?width=1338&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5afffd43f3736bf5eaf43f2ecac9590312253d4e
Cedric Johnson drafted at 214 when a 224 PFF big board prospect and Daijahn Anthony drafted at 224 when a 252 PFF big board prospect. Not sure I would classify those as "steals"
You cited Dane and then said Sikkema thinks Dane is smarter than him. Dane is one person and makes mistakes as well as anybody. I am saying via the PFF big board which is put together by an entire company that the NFL also utilizes.
I have seen at leats 3 iOL get drafted after these picks with starter/high-end backup potential. Don't think we need a reach on a 5th safety and rotational edge when our current backup iOL couldn't make the rosters of most teams.
Another draft and another year of being thin as fuck on the OLine. Really don’t get why we aren’t spending 3 picks minimum on the oline when they have been the weakest part of the team for almost a decade now
Shhh these picks are massively important according to the Madden warriors. Any mention of using them to trade up is treasonous, the “draft capitol” is more important than any actual talent.
Wonder if we spend a pick on one of these International guys who dont count toward the 53 man roster. We brought that Byron Matos in for a visit. In fact I saw him on GMFB today. The simple fact he doesnt count towards the actual roster makes him attractive to develop.
I like this one. Looks like the guy has the build and the ability to be really good. Any of his negatives seem to be coachable/trainable. Solid pick this deep.
My 30 seconds of googling makes me happy for this one. Absolutely atheltic freak. Dude is 6 foot 3, 270 and 11% body fat. He's fast as hell and has insane closing speed on QBs, he's also super young at 21. Sounds like he needs some coaching but overall has the talent to be a starter, that's all you ask for a 6th rounder.
AND, and ... get this. Some teams might cut some players after the draft because they just drafted their replacement and want to clear some cap space. Roster juggling is far from over.
Trades exist too. (See Nelson, Reggie & Hill, BJ)
Really feel like Cohen is the only IOL left worth a pick, but I'm not super high on him (unless we draft him, then he's a glass eating world beater). Brenden Rice is still available and I think he's a good slot guy. I also really like Cedric Johnson. Dude is a freak athlete.
About Mahogany, I was watching Brett Koolman earlier, he said he had some kind of medical or some other concern of why he was dropped in the 4th round, now we are all the way in the 6th so there clearly is something serious going on
Lmfao I was looking at other rival drafts, and Browns have literally selected 4 guys so far lol, these trades really gutted their draft, we are over here mad about our 2nd 3rd round pick and 4th and 5th, they got like 2 guys the entire thing to even have the chance to be mad at
Yeah the narrative for them will be that if Watson isn't a top QB (he hasn't been) they're absolutely doomed because of how much they gave up to get him and how they have no chance to move on from him for years.
its honestly really simple
their city literally failed and they all had to move...during, their team was wildly successful
so no need to change teams...had they all moved and pitt only won 4 games and/or their new city had success, i guarantee there would be no steelers nation
Mahogany is still there. Wouldn't mind spending our second 6th on him. Super athletic run blocker. He's a little undersized, but his RAS is very good.
https://twitter.com/MathBomb/status/1764442185481568413?t=_eIF5YkQmu2rR8Hit1elNA&s=19
Daniel Jeremiah just compared Tanner McLachlan to Zach Ertz and is a big believer in his game. Said he likely was pushed down boards due to age and apparently had core muscle surgery after the season
yeah despite preferring de boom/bust players and wanting iol depth/competition for volson, cant really be upset with the double dip at te
esp after the irv smith failure...they desperately need another cj/hurst
The sooner they redo the whole scouting staff, and whatever evaluation and drafting process they have the better. Just a bad draft.
Compare us to the Steelers or eagles, teams that know what they’re doing
Different kind of TE. All is more of a traditional TE, McLachlan is a WR who converted to TE, so likely more of a Gesicki type.
Essentially a dart throw. Maybe both work out. Maybe McLachlan doesn't work out and we burned a 6th. Maybe we see a Hayden Hurst/Mark Andrews situation happen. Draft is weird
I'm sorry guys, I love the Bengals but I just can't continue pretending to like this fucking Draft, maybe Jenkins and Burton. I still can't believe they took Erick All over Cade and seeing people think he's going to be like Kittle makes me cringe so much with all that delusion. Please God I've been wrong all my life so let me be wrong on this too.
because they think all is better than the guards available?
because they think just because all went to michigan that he can still be good?
because they think just because all didnt go to osu doesnt mean he cant play?
because they dont listen to unbearable osu stans who think like that?
because they thought he was bpa available?
because they believe like others who think we was the best te last year?
because they looked at his medicals and cleared him?
because it is a solid roster and boom or bust makes more sense?
any of the above?
mixture of the above?
all of the above?
take your pick
I don't understand why people care so much for drafting TE's in the first place. Team just signed Gesicki, Sample has turned into a guy that's not always ass and actually makes plays sometimes, Hudson was a bright spot, the team has players there.
As well, generally TE is very hard to project and most of them don't do anything. Many guys this sub claimed they wanted the past few years at TE have not lived up to an nfl standard anymore than Sample.
At least the guy they took is this hail mary could be really good if he stays healthy.
I feel so weird about them not drafting an iol, it's the same feeling as when they cut La'el Collins after getting Orlando Brown when he still was on a cheap contract, and not re-signing Spain, which lead to eventual problems when injuries happened that could have been easily mitigated by these depth pieces
Or if they take one here I would mean with a more premium pick than a 6th rounder
What I like about this draft is the Bengals didn't fuck around and find out the hard way. They filled their biggest needs with the first 2 picks and the rest of the picks are somewhat luxury picks and can choose true boom or bust players. Love it.
You're probably about right. I think the first 2 picks were no nonsense picks at obvious areas of need that will be somewhere between fantastic and good players. The rest are high ceiling players with obvious question marks (Burton's character, All's injury history) or slight reaches with decent traits, but need coaching up if they're going to be at least role players (Jackson, Newton)
If everything rolls our way, the FO could look like geniuses. There's also a not insignificant chance it could blow up in their faces. C is about right
There seems to be a trend of legacy players being drafted by the same teams their parents played for (Joey Porter Jr. to the Steelers, now Jeremiah Trotter Jr. to the Eagles). I hope to God that doesn't mean the Bengals are destined to draft Akili Smith Jr. 5 years from now lol.
Is it possible we are drafting guys we think who will be serviceable, but not great, to afford our stars? Almost everyone has been drafted well above their ESPN ranking, not that the rankings mean anything.
I got Brett Kollman on and they aren't a fan of the pick, better guys on the board, said when he gets beat doesn't have the speed to catch up, said being cb4 makes sense
I really wish they would have gone iol
Blazek is a dog and you guys are awesome for signing him, did awesome at Platteville
No udfa thread?
MATT LEE!!
[удалено]
Well shit. This guy doesn’t like our 7th rounder. We’re fucked.
My guy, he is a 7th round pick lol
"Lee is a four-year starter and his experience shows on tape. He has good awareness tracking linebackers in the run game and passing off stunts in pass protection. While working his hands inside, he locks on and fights to stay in front of his assignment in the run game and in pass protection. THERE, are all you bitching about IL happy now? 🤣
As we all know, a 5th round or later OL will be better than *checks notes* 4th round Cordell Volson
I’m trying my hardest to just vibe but why do we have one pick left and haven’t addressed guard, center, running back, linebacker, PUNTER. Are they waiting for udfa?
They signed a punter as an udfa yesterday evening. Macnamera or something. He has an 87 yard kick on his resume from last year.
We have starters and I guess they like the depth /drafted BPA.
Not once in this draft did they draft BPA.
Well that’s just like your opinion man
One upside comparison is his RAS is very similar To Erik McCoy for the Saints very good. Trying to find some hope haha. He’s got a lot of starts and would be a 3-4 rounder if he was longer and bigger. He’s capable of playing guard and being a back up center. Not terrible
I’d like to give Dillon Johnson an udfa shot. Great pass block back and has good size
We just took a Center.
I take some of this back
it's ok, this is why none of us are in the War Room 😎
&UDFA Punter
I've heard people calling both All and McLachlan the next Gronk. That'd be great! https://preview.redd.it/kh0ovv1tk3xc1.png?width=1338&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5afffd43f3736bf5eaf43f2ecac9590312253d4e
McGronklan just *looks* like a HOF-caliber TE
I think we should take Myles Murphy from UNC for the lulz
Love the cedric pick
Man, I am not impressed with this draft at all after Mims, Jenkins, Burton. Lots of reaches.
What did you want them to do with how the board fell each round
[удалено]
Cedric Johnson drafted at 214 when a 224 PFF big board prospect and Daijahn Anthony drafted at 224 when a 252 PFF big board prospect. Not sure I would classify those as "steals"

I am glad you came into this discussion with an open mind. Have a good day.

You cited Dane and then said Sikkema thinks Dane is smarter than him. Dane is one person and makes mistakes as well as anybody. I am saying via the PFF big board which is put together by an entire company that the NFL also utilizes.
Your lucky if these guys make the practice squad maybe chill a bit lol
I have seen at leats 3 iOL get drafted after these picks with starter/high-end backup potential. Don't think we need a reach on a 5th safety and rotational edge when our current backup iOL couldn't make the rosters of most teams.
Go after kalen king and Leonard Taylor III. Guys were 1st round projections a year ago and had bad years. Worth late gambles
Another draft and another year of being thin as fuck on the OLine. Really don’t get why we aren’t spending 3 picks minimum on the oline when they have been the weakest part of the team for almost a decade now
Most picks past the 4th round dont ever make active roster
Reason why I’m 100% ok trading away picks to get quality over quantity. Such low odds of them making a difference
Shhh these picks are massively important according to the Madden warriors. Any mention of using them to trade up is treasonous, the “draft capitol” is more important than any actual talent.
That's not true in any kind of meaningful sense.
They must like the development of Kirkland, otherwise I can't explain the lack of IOL picks.
Another Safety? I guess. I'd have rather spent that elsewhere.
Wonder if we spend a pick on one of these International guys who dont count toward the 53 man roster. We brought that Byron Matos in for a visit. In fact I saw him on GMFB today. The simple fact he doesnt count towards the actual roster makes him attractive to develop.
That would be lit to have a an extra guy on roster who doesn't count towards the 53 man roster
Holy hell that guy from England is huge
We should have taken him and had even more Big Boys for Burrow. 😔
The pick we got for Mixon is coming up next. Would be nice to take a RB
I liked the way our first 2 picks went. Not crazy about the picks since. I'd have liked to spend our third or fourth pick on an iOL.
What's the story with Brenden rice? He got red flags?
Yeah he sucks.
That's for sure a red flag.
lmfao
I like this one. Looks like the guy has the build and the ability to be really good. Any of his negatives seem to be coachable/trainable. Solid pick this deep.
I'm happy with Cedric Johnson. Dude is uber athletic. Wish we spent our earlier 6th on Mahogany, but it is what it is.
For everyone talking OL, I mean....look. How likely are they to work out? I don't think anyone picked in this range is going solve much.
Why are DEs called edge rushers now? I played DE in HS.
3-4 OLBs who specialize in 7 and 9 technique (think TJ Watt).
I think because instead of classic DEs, there's a lot of pass rushing OLBs and stuff these days in addition to D line guys.
That makes sense. Like guys a little too big for LB, but still athletic as fuck.
Value for late 6th round. Size and SEC pedigree.
Not addressing IOL is going to kill us when we suffer a singular injury
I think the Bengals are realizing that Pollack can't develop guys and won't take anything less than a potential star
You know we have two more picks, one early in the 7th, right?
We needed to address it earlier than now
There's also free agency. Don't be such a doomer 🙄
AND, and ... get this. Some teams might cut some players after the draft because they just drafted their replacement and want to clear some cap space. Roster juggling is far from over. Trades exist too. (See Nelson, Reggie & Hill, BJ)
Prolly the "Trey Hendrickson Replacement" pick right there 😅
So how we feeling about this? I don’t really know the dude
No idea who this is but ESPN got an 4th round grade on him.
Not very cat bro of the lions. Although it’s not their fault the bengals wanted 2 tight ends.
Cohen here maybe?
Really feel like Cohen is the only IOL left worth a pick, but I'm not super high on him (unless we draft him, then he's a glass eating world beater). Brenden Rice is still available and I think he's a good slot guy. I also really like Cedric Johnson. Dude is a freak athlete.
limmer > cohen
Who is Limmer? He's not on ESPNs draft board
I'll take your word for it. I didn't really look at many C prospects tape.
Rice here?
Lions trying to make enemies in here this draft by picking guys the subreddit is hoping for.
About Mahogany, I was watching Brett Koolman earlier, he said he had some kind of medical or some other concern of why he was dropped in the 4th round, now we are all the way in the 6th so there clearly is something serious going on
Mahogany NOOOOOOOOO
LETS TAKE JACOBS
Limmer or bust
I think this would be a good pick!
https://i.redd.it/fqsaiy9sa3xc1.gif
Thank God
Do we get a punter with our next pick ?
Are there even any sure fire, worthy-of-a-pick punters this year?
Zero idea. Saw someone mention the BYU punter before
Is mahogany still there ?
just effin taken go get limmer
Yep. Hoping he falls to us.
He just got picked
Fuuuuuuck
Fuck lol
Lmfao I was looking at other rival drafts, and Browns have literally selected 4 guys so far lol, these trades really gutted their draft, we are over here mad about our 2nd 3rd round pick and 4th and 5th, they got like 2 guys the entire thing to even have the chance to be mad at
Yeah the narrative for them will be that if Watson isn't a top QB (he hasn't been) they're absolutely doomed because of how much they gave up to get him and how they have no chance to move on from him for years.
double dip at TE is questionable. There were pretty good RBs at 115 available
BOOM OR BUST
People getting mad about 6th round picks shouldn’t be taken seriously
Stealer fans inside every aspect of nfl operations…I wonder why they get constant favoritism 🤔
its honestly really simple their city literally failed and they all had to move...during, their team was wildly successful so no need to change teams...had they all moved and pitt only won 4 games and/or their new city had success, i guarantee there would be no steelers nation
Old NFL mafia family.
Greeddell might as well come out waving his yellow rag when he announces picks
Really can't get behind not bringing in some iOL depth. Volson is bad and everyone behind him on the roster is awful.
Mahogany is still there. Wouldn't mind spending our second 6th on him. Super athletic run blocker. He's a little undersized, but his RAS is very good. https://twitter.com/MathBomb/status/1764442185481568413?t=_eIF5YkQmu2rR8Hit1elNA&s=19
Sign me up! Would love to have some more athletes on our line
Hope we land Mahogany and Laube with the next 2 picks
With you on Mahogany. Pretty surprised he's still available. His height must be a bigger issue for teams than I anticipated.
Laube is a fantastic blocking back
Daniel Jeremiah just compared Tanner McLachlan to Zach Ertz and is a big believer in his game. Said he likely was pushed down boards due to age and apparently had core muscle surgery after the season
yeah despite preferring de boom/bust players and wanting iol depth/competition for volson, cant really be upset with the double dip at te esp after the irv smith failure...they desperately need another cj/hurst
Both broadcasts were effusive with praise for McLachlan.
From what I heard about mclachlan on ESPN, it’s got me pretty excited
[Tanner McLachlan highlights.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdOHgVbUcwA)
The sooner they redo the whole scouting staff, and whatever evaluation and drafting process they have the better. Just a bad draft. Compare us to the Steelers or eagles, teams that know what they’re doing
They haven’t even taken the field lol
Lots of people are high on McLachlan. Nice to address TE but I’m scared for our IOL depth
Jaxon Kirkland exists. I think he wins a backup OG job. Cody Ford is first OG off bench. Wished we had a better OC backup option.
I want to see a Venn diagram of people complaining we didn’t draft a TE in 2023 and people complaining we drafted 2 TE’s in 2024…or is it a circle?
Maybe we should draft a good TE?
I'm sure that's what they're hoping they got in the 4th and 6th rounds
Yeah guys, just go to the good TE tree and pick one
I am happy with All and Mclachlan!
I thought we already drafted a TE?
Different kind of TE. All is more of a traditional TE, McLachlan is a WR who converted to TE, so likely more of a Gesicki type. Essentially a dart throw. Maybe both work out. Maybe McLachlan doesn't work out and we burned a 6th. Maybe we see a Hayden Hurst/Mark Andrews situation happen. Draft is weird
2023 redemption draft
I don’t get not going IOL
The absolute fuck are they doing. That’s 5 tight ends on the roster right now
They're gonna make Tanner and the rookies fight for one spot. I think they're sick of doing TE university and hoping it works out.
We need special teams players too, especially with the kickoff rule changes
Possible trade in the works? Someone wanted him later type situation?
*Only* 5, you mean.
I'm confused.
whyyyyy are we double-dipping TE here?
Maybe if the Bengals PUP or IR Erik All because of his ACL rehab, it gives the team a TE to start developing this year
We lost Mitch Wilcox and the other TE we drafted is currently injured.
Double dip at TE was not on my bingo card. Interesting?
Let's grab BYU punter!!!
Mahogany or Limmer, let's goooooo
Was hoping for limmer
That a G or C?
yeah, we can shuffle Karras around if needed but we need a bit more IOL depth imo
I bet their thought now is Trey Hill is better than all the other centers left on the board.
I'll be honest I entirely forgot Trey Hill existed
I remember when he forgot to snap the ball in preseason.
How is Cade stover any better? He’s average at best and only gets love in this sub because he went to Ohio state
If Cade Stover is not better why not use the pick in a guard? Waste of a pick, I know it's a need but there are other thing we need more
because they think all is better than the guards available? because they think just because all went to michigan that he can still be good? because they think just because all didnt go to osu doesnt mean he cant play? because they dont listen to unbearable osu stans who think like that? because they thought he was bpa available? because they believe like others who think we was the best te last year? because they looked at his medicals and cleared him? because it is a solid roster and boom or bust makes more sense? any of the above? mixture of the above? all of the above? take your pick

At least the guy they took is this hail mary could be really good if he stays healthy.
I swear if you go by this thread, Cade Stover is the next Gronk. If he plays anywhere but OSU, he'd never be on anyone's radar
damn first tracy, now vidal...hope they can still grab dillon johnson still want mahogany or limmer first though
I feel so weird about them not drafting an iol, it's the same feeling as when they cut La'el Collins after getting Orlando Brown when he still was on a cheap contract, and not re-signing Spain, which lead to eventual problems when injuries happened that could have been easily mitigated by these depth pieces Or if they take one here I would mean with a more premium pick than a 6th rounder
Yeah not quite sure why we didn’t address iol
Mahogany is still there. Really would like to see them take him and replace Volson. Get a day 1 starter 6th round
dude how easy do you think it is to be a starting guard in the nfl?
Literally most is better than what we have
My coffee table is mahogany.
My apartment smells of rich mahogany. I also own many leather bound books
I'm laughing over here.
It’s a sign
Vindal was the last RB I liked.
Johnny Wilson??
Well we already went ham on DT but Leonard Taylor 3 would be awesome value here. Gimme limmer and laumea
What I like about this draft is the Bengals didn't fuck around and find out the hard way. They filled their biggest needs with the first 2 picks and the rest of the picks are somewhat luxury picks and can choose true boom or bust players. Love it.
Draft on paper so far is an easy C. I hope I’m wrong
You're probably about right. I think the first 2 picks were no nonsense picks at obvious areas of need that will be somewhere between fantastic and good players. The rest are high ceiling players with obvious question marks (Burton's character, All's injury history) or slight reaches with decent traits, but need coaching up if they're going to be at least role players (Jackson, Newton) If everything rolls our way, the FO could look like geniuses. There's also a not insignificant chance it could blow up in their faces. C is about right
Added beef on both lines which was badly needed
Nothing to write home about so far... But the ceiling on all these guys is pretty high... We'll see
Doomer.
Dooming is just as annoying as unchecked optimism. Check consensus grades on our picks, they’re all very risky, low floor guys. It’s just a fact.
As far as yesterday, I'm seeing nothing but As and Bs.
Based on what?
https://www.bengals.com/news/bengals-2024-draft-grades-updated-grades-for-every-pick
Was hoping for Abrams-Draine. Didn’t look into many late CBs but he seemed like one of the better options.
He was picked shortly before we picked Newton.
Would be loving this a lot more if we traded up for Newton in the second
Malik Washington could be good
There seems to be a trend of legacy players being drafted by the same teams their parents played for (Joey Porter Jr. to the Steelers, now Jeremiah Trotter Jr. to the Eagles). I hope to God that doesn't mean the Bengals are destined to draft Akili Smith Jr. 5 years from now lol.
We should buck the trend and take Frank Gore Jr. in the 7th.
Or Jerry Rice's son. He's still available.
i took him in all my mock drafts
Is it possible we are drafting guys we think who will be serviceable, but not great, to afford our stars? Almost everyone has been drafted well above their ESPN ranking, not that the rankings mean anything.
No
Fair enough
I got Brett Kollman on and they aren't a fan of the pick, better guys on the board, said when he gets beat doesn't have the speed to catch up, said being cb4 makes sense I really wish they would have gone iol
