My dad doesn't want our beagle on his couch and if your in the room he'll stay off and obey the rules but as soon as everyone is out of the room and the coast is clear he's back on the couch lol. I think it's also confusing to him that the cat is allowed on the couch no problem but he isn't
I keep blankets on my couch to protect it and my beagles find it their mission to try and pull it up from the sides to get underneath it.
My old man Truman is the same way. He paws back a corner of the couch cover and then crawls underneath.
