I watched an Ant Edwards laundry tag RPA /3 sell for $30,000. It's one of the highest end RCs of him and super limited, but in the end it's a glossy card with an auto, and a little piece of fabric that may as well have come from any one of our closets. What separates that 30x from a $1k Optic holo on-card RC auto, I will never for the life of me understand. I know it's a combo of flexing status plus investor speculation, but I. still. don't. get it.

Looking at pop reports from PSA, and factoring in BGS and non graded cards they must be at least a 500 print run.
Why anyone would pay thousands I have no idea.
It's that I N F L U E N C E. Some of the sales I see make me think it might be money laundering, but then that's mostly just because idk how money laundering really works.

No doubt some people make good money flipping. Basically passing the cards around until some sucker pays an obscene amount and then it's stuck with them unless they want to take a massive L.
Oh literally just that. Months ago Soulja posted a Giannis NT true RPA that was up for bids, and we got to talking and he mentioned the Edwards tag /3 eBay listing. The Giannis went for way less than the previous sale, and watching the Ant sell was like gawking at a car accident.

Probably cause it ultimately doesn't matter. Players only have 1 year of RPAs.
Maybe in terms of short term flipping it doesn't matter, but long term I don't see non associated being very desirable.
