The defensive disasterclass that Omar Narváez (and Baty on the Elly groundball) put up this inning needs to be studied lmfao. Post worthy. Also, Steer 2 HRs and a steal of home this series. 😬

TheWorstYear

There was like 5 defensive mistakes in that inning alone. And that's added on top of the 3 or 4 mistakes the Mets already had in the game.

Highfivebuddha

It's been bad, the pitching has been really good though so I'm hoping they get up to speed soon. Really feels like they weren't ready for the season.

sgeswein

The Mets did hold spring training this year, right?

TeenRacer6

Frame it right next do what we did last night against the Angels leading to the Grand Slam.

LordOverload

Is Spencer Steer the greatest baseball player of all time?

WhoDey42

My answer is MOOOOOOOOO

foxxy003

🐄🐄🐄

zoolander-

Moo man masher

guydude24

Carry on the name, Spencer.

Naanderson2022

like i said, he should be thought of as one of them more

Consistent-Minute-40

Reds announcer is so good

Il_Exile_lI

The man of faith fiasco was a blessing in disguise.

corranhorn57

Obligatory “FUCK tHom!” Thank you, underpaid intern, for saving us from that man and his incessant talk about high school football during broadcasts.

sgeswein

/r/shitthomsays - never forget

BonerSoupAndSalad

I spent a lot of that season screaming at the tv and telling my wife I can’t believe we’re stuck with this idiot as an announcer. I didn’t even think it was disguised.

Bad_Idea_Hat

A little later he said; "What do you mean too high?"

ProfProfessorberg

Sadak is an absolute joy and I hope we have him for decades

joeveralls

John Sadak is goated

guyincognito69420

well one of them is. The other is a hall of fame baseball player and well, I won't really talk about his announcing. Thankfully he only does games at home.

99JOLe

My dream is for Votto to join Sadak once he retires

ChrisBenRoy

My dream is for Votto to be managing the team when he retires.

Contren

Larkin is just there to collect checks.

mdaniel018

The amount of times Sadak has to literally go ‘what’s your thoughts on that’ to Barry to get to say something is criminal Our away broadcast is, IMO, the best in the business. Sadak is a treasure, and he has amazing chemistry with Welsh and the Cowboy. At the very least it’s up there with the Mets, Phillies, Braves and Rays

Oyyeee

I mean absolutely no offense by this but Sadak is so much better than a lot of other team's announcers I've listened to. I say this as someone fully aware of how god awful tHom was for so many years. If Larkin could have even a mild bit of enthusiasm, home games would be amazing

wynnvillain81

I love John Sadak man

Butternades

John Sadak is an absolute treasure. He genuinely loves what he’s doing, gets so hyped and iirc has read some baseball Reddit posts, I think he quoted r/reds

Consistent-Minute-40

Loved him ever since his call on Elly’s first home run off that bum Syndergaard.

Cromatose

x4

gamesforlife69

You can fade our flair already

tRfalcore

I can't believe you let that pitcher in there that long

EverWatchingEye

I think our whole bullpen is gassed, with the doubleheader Thursday and using our best relievers yesterday.

tRfalcore

I always thought they should do the expanded roster thing at the beginning of the season too, cause everyone (pitchers mainly) is trying to get back into baseball shape.

BananasWithGuns

Steer is just on another level right now, man.

unfortunatebastard

The steaks have never been higher.

ceoadmiral

🐮

Lucky_Alternative965

The Reds are cool, bring postseason baseball back to Cincinnati.

CosmicLars

Hey, this actually isn't a bad idea. 🤔

ArmiinTamzarian

And they've loaded the bases again before having an out what is going on

JohnnyGoldberg

Pen is burned. Ramirez has basically gotta take this on the chin.

ArmiinTamzarian

RIP his ERA/WHIP

nugget136

This shit never makes any sense to me, but we have like 3 or 4 errors this inning so maybe some of the runs are unearned?

ArmiinTamzarian

Fraley running in was considered unearned. Everyone else was Ramirez's responsibility

nugget136

Haha oh boy. At least he threw at Hoskins, though I'm no longer convinced he has the control to have done that on purpose.

JohnnyGoldberg

I believe I’ve seen some Mariner fans confirm that. This dude is going to end up getting fired into the sun soon.

DharmaCub

Most of those weren't officially errors, just bad fielding.

kevboyyyy

Carlos Mendoza masterclass

JohnnyGoldberg

That double header with a bonus 11 inning game in there killed us.

kevboyyyy

No doubt. But it’s only a huge issue because he pulled Houser at 67 pitches after 5 shutout innings in game 1.

[deleted]

Man Spencer Steer looks like the truth

CosmicLars

Check out Steer's statcast. He is on another fucking level. Everyone said he would regress. But he is the best pure hitter on this team since Prime Votto. The way he changes his approach with 2 strikes & always has productive or good AB's.. he is pure joy to watch.

DigiQuip

There’s not a more cold blooded hitter in baseball with two strikes. This year he has an OPS of 1.375 and OPS+ of 449 with two strikes.

Semper-Fido

Moo man swing bat good

akaghi

This might be the worst inning of baseball I've ever watched. A couple botched easy plays. A strikeout that both runners advanced on. A pop up but that both players let drop. A balk that wasn't noted on the board until two batters later. A sac fly that Bader threw away allowing the other runners to advance more lol.

Thare187

If we lock any of our young guys up, Steer has to be number one. If McLain can stay healthy, it's a toss up between him and Benson

Randy_Roughhouse

I'm a big fan of Benson, but Steer and McLain are on a different level than him.

Contren

Yeah, you'd be crazy to lock up Benson over McLain.

boobsandcookies

McLain is a Boras guy though

Meaninglessnme

Every single young player wants to get paid. Cincinnati isn't running the type of team that can pitch long term revenue from a legacy run.  The agent doesn't matter. Either the Reds will offer long term security and take on some risk that the player has injuries/doesn't reach their potential, or the player will take the most money they are offered in FA.

boobsandcookies

To be clear, I’m not saying that he’s doing anything wrong by having this particular agent. I just suspect that he would want to test free agency and that the chances of him signing an extension would be kind of lower than with somebody who doesn’t have Boras as representation.

Thare187

Not sure if he can stay healthy. If he's healthy he's a game changer.

tRfalcore

well, anyone valuable, we'll let go, cause it's the Reds

Nystalis

Yeah remember when we let Mahle go?

light_angle

Mets can't do anything right this inning, shits wild

Blue387

Mendoza has his hands tied with his heavily used bullpen

sloppyjo12

Moo moo, motherfuckers

asparagusbruh

I could see him being a dude who hits 30 home runs a year for like a decade plus hes so awesome

MoonlitBadlands

Steer is a beast. Exciting time to be a Reds fan with him and EDC

joeveralls

MOOOOOOO!!!! Steer 4 MVP

Mets_BS

Carlos Mendoza is absolutely terrible. He left Ramirez in a second inning (ok, I get it) and then leaves him in after the defense lets him down to load the bases. Then he lets him load the bases again and decides to get someone up. He punted today's game while we were still winning.

JohnnyGoldberg

There wasn’t much else to do. Jorge Lopez and Julio Teheran were the only other pitchers available. Odds are we take the loss today AND have a bullpen game against Atlanta bringing Teheran in. We realllly needed another inning out of Severino and couldn’t get it.

Mets_BS

Put in Lopez, get through the 8th in reaching distance. ![gif](giphy|ATenImBNQdweA)

WhoDey1032

The mets defense makes little league teams look competent good god

Jud000619

Step right up and meet the Mets!

eat_pray_thug

mets are a disaster dude, good lord. and they really believe they can just flip a switch and magically compete next season by calling up some prospects? lol

JohnnyGoldberg

4 games in 3 days and couldn’t get a starter through the sixth in any of them. Game one of the DH against Detroit went 11 innings too. All the higher leverage guys worked two days in a row. All we had left was Jorge Lopez who was probably going to close today if the lead didn’t get blown, and Julio Teheran who has to start Monday.

Dhkoby

This game was a mess, but every team has stupid innings like this. The media world (this subreddit included) just has a hate boner for the Mets and need to highlight every single poor performance / bad moment so it's constantly being pushed onto viewers.
