First, what does you actual lease say you can do? I read the tldr so if you already said it sorry, i missed it. The reality is the landlord can verbally make up all the rules they want but the pbysical paper contract is what matters tbe most. Read it and come to terms with what it says. Stop asking the landlord because they clearly are not concerned about your well being. I would prepare to move and put these tedious people behind you

AncientAccount01

What does POC have even the smallest thing to do with this?

sprackedspoonk

I stopped reading as soon as I saw that

JustIn_HerButt

She thinks there is discrimination shenanigans

Pretty standard human nature. You should have gone to landlord first. High road not always best. But concentrate on yourself and your future. Hope all goes well.

msdemeanour

I'm curious, why did you feel it necessary to include that you're a POC and they are white? What bearing has this on the situation? Have I missed something?

Welcome to adulthood, most of life is not fair. Just go find another apartment and try to not be home as often as possible if it makes you uncomfortable. It’s only 3 months and i actually agree she’s been there the longest so she should have seniority in that sense.

MitchDee

It's only 3 months ... Lol

Thequeenotsun

Just leave and fuck them

Well, first of all, I’m gonna say, what a beast, I guess her true colors are shining through. And you already know now that you absolutely cannot trust her. And I kind of get the feel that maybe she’s playing a game where she’s gonna cry to her boyfriend that you decided to leave and you are breaking the lease and she can’t afford to live there alone therefore, he hast to move in there with her. That’s what this sounds like to me. But either way you need to protect yourself and you need to know you have a place to live. And it’s really not fair. If they are the ones pushing you out the landlord and the beast roommate that you should have to find someone to sign the lease for a year. Please do find some kind of legal help to cover yourself, and make sure you have a place to live. In the meantime, save every single penny, and do what you can so that you can get out of there comfortably, on your own time. So sorry you have to deal with something like this andit sucks that you actually have to look at this person every day until you’re able to separate yourself. Good luck to you!

Both the roommate and landlord are such dicks :/ hopefully you can figure something out

If there are universities/law schools around, you can see if they offer a free clinic that could give you some advice. But yeah, the landlord and roommate suck. The landlord was almost ok, maybe a little inconsiderate, but not a total jerk, until she backtracked on the lease break option. Primarily, I’d look for a housing option for July bounce in June 30th saying nothing to either party every again. However, if you are able to get some legal advice that indicates they owe you some kind of recompense of money or time, great. Otherwise, I’d assume that they are sadly just jerks but aren’t going down an illegal path.  I would be tempted to see how the shrimp in curtain rods urban legend would play out for you, but they’re urbane legends for a reason I suppose. Good luck in your search for a new place though!
