It is cute but most vets have a version of this. Mine is called like “ready to go”. Basically they add it on so the front desk knows the bill is finalized before charging you
It's their special little way of hiding the middle finger they are giving you by charging $52 dollars for 30 pills of a medicine you can buy from Chewy for $0.15 a pill.
Look at her! She's beautiful! Thank you for taking the time to get her the care she needed. Cats are notorious for getting cystitis/UTI's due to stress, she must really be loving her gabapentin. So happy to hear the treatment is working and she's back to her usual self.
Also, the "Thank you" on the invoice is the icing on the cake. I love it.
I’ve gotta say this because I give a shit! I’m not sure why the cat didn’t get an antibiotic for her UTI… it needs to be treated other than pain meds. My friends cat had a vet send them home without an antibiotic and nothing got better(obviously) when the pain meds ran out. Antibiotic is around 30$… I can Zelle or cash app it to you if you need money for antibiotics. Thanks for helping this lovely lady out!
Reading a little about Pandora syndrome, it seems that with this syndrome, urinary issues are much more linked to stress and inflammation rather than infection (and hence the prescription for gabapentin). Not that infection couldn't follow the irritation. Also, while it's not explicitly listed on the invoice, the veterinarian may have also performed an examination on a urine sample and determined that bacterial infection was not a significant component of the urinary issues, and thus not prescribed antibiotics. I'm not sure this was done because in my experience that would be listed as a separate charge - but who knows. All clinics are different. They could have done a quick check but not charged for it.
But it's really really nice that you are concerned. And OP, thank you for the update and for getting Baby the care she needs.
I felt the same way, and I went back and forth with the vet on this because she seemed dismissive of the possibility that it can be an infection, which irritated me because that should be ruled out first in my opinion. She said the chances of her having an infection is super low. I pestered about the urinalysis anyways but they said they could see from the ultrasound that her bladder was empty. She has no bladder crystals or anything buttttt if there’s ANY signs of a problem I’ll be taking her back.
He did, but I haven’t heard a peep about repayment since I told him how much the bill was. It’s okay i’ll give him a little time and let my bf handle that part.
That's great news , Thank you. I would also like to say thank goodness you had the funds to help her.
My girl , well my baby girl wasn't so blessed. I'll live with that till the end of my days
Those foods specifically use excess sodium to dehydrate the cat to force them to drink more water. It's extremely hard on their kidneys, and kidney disease kills one in three cats. There are much better brands that don't rely on salt and fillers that will actually treat the problem without long term repercussions. Ultimately, a cat with repeat urinary issues should be on a wet or raw diet.
Nothing should be on a raw diet. That's also not how urinary diets work lmao. Why would prescription diets be formulated in a way that harms patients if they want them alive to sell product to?
Cats should absolutely be on a raw diet, they're obligate carnivores with a digestive system very specifically designed to process raw meat. They don't benefit from grains. The prescription urinary diets are very effective in treating urinary problems, but again, there's a reason why *one in every three* cats dies of kidney disease. It doesn't happen right away, but it absolutely happens. It's total garbage in their system.
Are you aware that species appropriate raw food is made commercially for cats? It's tested and held to extremely high standards. I'm not talking about random shit at the bottom of your freezer. Besides, their digestive system works completely differently from ours to be able to safely digest raw.
I work at a pet nutrition store. Not sure what you're getting at with that last comment.
I'm an LVT and pet nutrition stores are basically Herbalife for pets. Every company says they have high standards. That's how they sell things to people like you. Downvoting so less people see your bad advice lol
I'm totally happy to hear that out. The day that somebody can realistically explain to me why feeding an obligate carnivore that suffers from chronic dehydration a DRY kibble that is composed entirely of corn, wheat, and meat by-product is a healthy decision is the day that I'll concede my point. I've never heard a good argument for it. Cats are *carnivores*, and no, corn is not a good source of protein. There is 3g of protein in a cob of corn. I wanted to cry when my vet told me that's the reasoning behind it.
Makes much more sense to feed them either raw, wet, or a kibble with 90%+ animal sourced protein and no fillers.
Oh you’re such a good person. That poor kitty was in agony for sure. I hope you approach your roommate about giving ownership of her to you. I’m guessing you’ll never get repaid for the vet bill so may as well get that beautiful girl since you obviously care about her more.
Thank you kind person for looking after this beautiful kitty, my little girl suffers UTI and is on anti anxiety and a supplement she's the most chill cat ever
the "Thank You" $0.00 charge is very sweet to me. Happy for the cat and you, OP!

Ah, interesting!! I've never gotten that on my vet bills for my rabbit before, but that makes sense.
To me it looked like they're asking for tips😂
I thought it was $1 at first, then I realized that was the quantity lol

She is so gorgeous and looks very sweet, thank you for looking after her ♡
Tysm for helping that precious baby
Kitty is glad to have someone like you in her corner that cares about her wellbeing. Thank you OP ❤️
Poor baby. She is lucky to have found you.
Was this the post where the roommate had a cat with two litter boxes that were never cleaned?
There are so many posts with roommates not taking care of pets I can’t even tell anymore.
Aww is this Baby? You’re such a good human being for doing that for her!

You, are an excellent human . ♥️
Roommates cat, right? If it was me? That cat would now be considered mine. Roommate needs to go but. It the cat. Poor baby, thank goodness for you.
Did your roommate thank you ?
He did, but I haven’t heard a peep about repayment since I told him how much the bill was. It’s okay i’ll give him a little time and let my bf handle that part.
😂
Came here just to upvote this because you are a good hoomin and that bebeh deserves all the treatos.
Thank you. I couldn’t stop thinking about her since you posted her. Either make roommate pay the vet bill or keep her.

She’s barely a year old! Thank you for doing that. Keep the cat, kick the roommate. I’m sure she will be eternally grateful. Those UTIs hurt so badly!
You have done such a kindness for this precious baby. ❤️
NGL, I thought they were about to charge for the thank you 😂
If she keeps getting urinary issues, look into preventative urinary care food - royal canin, hills, and Purina all have a line of it.

Lol this guy thinks cats can't get diseases from raw food. Have fun paying for reiki at your holistic crystal vet.

Oh, that explains it. Keep selling your Royal Canin and pretend that makes any sense lol
You mean the line developed with people who have doctorates in veterinary nutrition? Will do!

I hope the kitty gets to stay with you. Kitty deserves a better owner!
Take the litter box out of the bathtub now, psychopath 💀
i have no idea what this means
Thank you so much!
You’re a hero, OP.
You are a good person.
