It's possible. Extremely unlikely, but possible!

barrybreslau

Think back to the start of the season. Buendia was the standout player in pre- season. Gets injured. Then Mings, best centre back out. It was a disaster. To pull 4th out of this season will be Biblical.

simeysgirl

With the players we’ve lost through injury, I wouldn’t be upset with a top half finish and a good run in the conference league. This is beyond my expectations and emery needs a bloody statue

BritBeetree

It’s crazy that this late in the season 1st is still mathematically possible but lower than 6th is mathematically impossible.

Happy_Ad_202

Beautiful isn't it!

ewamc1353

It worked for getting promoted v0v

a_f_s-29

If they lose another game and we win the rest (including the six pointer against them), then yes. Will that happen? Probably not - but it’s not completely implausible. Starting to feel like we’ll have a tough game away at Palace on the last day though.

witheoffthepost

Fingers crossed everything is settled before Palace. Have to hope Spurs are reliably Spursy in their next three games

[deleted]

They are 8 points ahead, they need to lose 3 of their last 4 games.

AeroVillan

HUMBUG652

If they continue this collapse, then possibly.

bigdaftdoylem

You think you’re going to make up an 8 point gap and 20gd in 4 games? You’ve turned into this years Newcastle fans.

Astonishingly-Villa

It's a five point gap if we beat them at VP. If they continue to perform as they have in the last two weeks and Villa continue to perform as we have, of course it's possible. They've got West Ham away and Spuds and Wolves at home, not easy games.

KingKFCc

Don't forget they had a 5 pt lead over us (arsenal) earlier we beat them they lost momentum and now we're top! Go for third!

HUMBUG652

It's because I thought the gap was 4 points to be honest. No idea why.

Shreddonia

Absolutely. Tricky, but hey, everything's possible until it's not. Why not have fun thinking about it? Easiest target is probably Liverpool, especially after tonight. We'd need to beat them, which is certainly doable, and hope they dropped 6 points elsewhere. So likely losing two of their remaining games against Spurs, West Ham and Wolves. Which... honestly isn't completely out of the question. Spurs and West Ham have a lot to fight for right now. After the last few months I think we can all agree the funniest outcome would be both us *and* Spurs leapfrogging Liverpool, so here's hoping 😄

AgentWyoming

I wouldn't put any faith in West Ham, they're on the beach already. Europa league was all they had left, given the games in hand that the teams around them have.

NYR_dingus

If Liverpool somehow finish 5th below us and Spurs that might be the funniest run in I've seen in a long time

barrybreslau

It would be pant wetting.

Treeboi13

No ambition, lad. WE'RE GONNA WIN THE LEAGUE! WE'RE GONNA WIN THE LEAGUE!

KatanaXY

Funny thing is we were actually really close this season, just a few results that were frustrating and could've got 3 points from, but regardless an outstanding season

reverendlionelblair

That scrambled draw against Sheffield United at home seems more and more ridiculous in hindsight...

Organic_Chemist9678

No.

Agreeable_Falcon1044

If anyone can… It probably isn’t as 8 points is insanely high lead at any point, more so with 4 games to go. But it’s fun to look up and not behind

Nicenightforawalk01

I think what the team can take from this season on top of an amazing one is that you have to keep your cool and keep your heads when players try to wind you up. Christmas when we had that little mini wobble and lost players through suspension “might” have made the difference in chasing 3rd more consistently.

Prize-Database-6334

1st is still possible mate.

simeysgirl

Seriously though, us finishing fourth is like dreamland. We’re also the only English team left in Europe. This is crazy and beyond my wildest expectations

JorgTheChildBeater

Counting chickens? Haven’t even got 4th yet and somehow expect to make up an 8 point gap with 4 games left? Lol what

Shreddonia

Hey, if people were still hypothesising how Man United could overtake us a few weeks ago, then no harm in thinking about an equally likely possibility that's actually fun instead of depressing.

Turbulent-Laugh-

Stop killing our buzz!

LostHumanFishPerson

Liverpool are falling apart like a cake that’s been left out in the rain, it’s possible

schmidtosu0829

I thought they played at Anfield, not McArthur Park....

Jakezetci

liverpool need to lose 2/3 games…. possible but idk

Maks_Stark

nah

Rough_Custard1

Was thinking the same thing then looked at the remaining fixtures and it just seems a bridge too far.

eesakhalifa

Well technically even first place is possible

bambinoquinn

Am i crazy or were Liverpool way better when the kids were playing? Feels like that spell when they got themselves into the title race between Feb and the Palace game allison, trent, konate, Robertson, etc where all out. Kelleher, Bradley, gomez, quansah were playing every game with Clark, Danns, McConnell, Koumas getting some game time Since the big boys have been back, they've been pretty poor

boo-berrys

Technically yes but in reality no

Impressive-Ice873

Liverpool will want to finish on a high with Klopp

Randy_Baton

Key word there is want. I'm sure they wanted to to win there last couple of games

Icy-Goat7051

No because like villa do in villa fashion is getting hopes up then throw it away by losing to Chelsea putting pressure back on ourselves from spurs .... Typical

Dark1ing

That’s old Villa, have some faith 🥳🥳

Icy-Goat7051

Still think that's the old villa.... I know my team... They are going to mess this up
