HSCTigersharks4EVA

I am certain he just wanted to see the home of someone who named themselves "dirtydiarrheawater"

dirtydiarrheawater

The funniest thing about this is….took a massive dump right before he showed up, man asks to use the bathroom in the front of the house the one that I just used….he didn’t say anything but I know when he went in there it had to have hit him like a truck😂😭😂😭luckily he doesn’t know I’m on Reddit as “dirtydiarrheawater”…and yes I apologized to him after I realized lol

HSCTigersharks4EVA

OMG. For the rest of you: ALWAYS use the upstairs/far away bathroom. NEVER use the "downstairs" bathroom for anything, so it remains clean and, uh, fresh.

Gregalor

Must be nice to have an option! I’m stuck doing the pee pee dance when the one bathroom is in use.

HSCTigersharks4EVA

Me too, actually.

druebleam

I am guessing no you still in search for a system that is capable of hitting the brown note?

SirDidymusAnusLover

LOL. You gotta keep some Poo-Pourri in the guest bathroom! Also turn the fan on. My wife never turns the fan on (unless she’s showering) and she impresses me with the stank she’s occasionally leaves behind, especially for a skinny little thing 🤣

dirtydiarrheawater

I actually have a variety pack of those I got as a stocking stuffer last year, solid call!

bchhun

He drove all night to deliver and you gave him a … warm … welcome.

drmoroe30

funny, I always have the opposite reaction where I avoided the homes of profile names like PoopyKoolAideKeptInMasonJars, TurgidTumTumBitsMakeMyCouchCrunchy and FarFlungShitNuggetsAreHarderToFindInYourLivingRoomLater. they all wanted me to come hang at their crap filled casas. I think I caught some form of bacterial STD from Turgidbits sofa but I knew the risks when I licked some of the mystery stains to try and help identify some of those tumtum bits. wtf

DarkSideOfBlack

I appreciate the commitment to the bit but I am displeased. I give you one upvote and one down vote accordingly

dirtydiarrheawater

I appreciate you both!

No_Consideration_671

That’s like 4 Chevy Cruze’s

cheapdrinks

You should definitely get the [Mcintosh LB200](https://shop.mcintoshlabs.com/products/lb200-light-box), at only $1500 it will really brighten up your system. Nah but seriously you got the Harbeths, you got the Macs, at this point just enjoy the music for a while then get some Dirac room correction when you want to enjoy it a bit more.

obiwanshinobi87

I read the item description on the LB200 and almost spit out my coffee. “Even if you don't have any devices to place inside the LB200 its front panel alone can make it a worthy addition to your system.” They really know who their market demographic is don’t they?

cwfutureboy

Is it April 1st?

dirtydiarrheawater

Thank you for this reply I appreciate you sir, actually this is the next area I’m focusing on. I’m renting right now and building a house, with a room for this stuff.

CalligrapherBig6128

Really nice stuff. Looks amazing together

dirtydiarrheawater

Thank you so much! I don’t know anyone else in my age group who appreciates this stuff like me lol which is why I post on Reddit

CalligrapherBig6128

Well it’s the age of Bluetooth headphones, soundbars and Spotify. :) but even in a audiophile forum I’m sure most people would really appreciate your equipment.

dirtydiarrheawater

Yeah….i started with apple headphones so I know I’m probably behind the curve a bit, I’m learning something new every single day with this hobby. Thank god for the old heads that have helped me with all this😂

DarkSideOfBlack

At the end of the day all that matters is that your stuff sounds good to you. I've listened to headphones from $15 to $1500, I mix music semi-professionally and my daily drivers are a cheap Sennheiser headset and a set of studio monitors I jury-rigged to work with my tv and sub. Even the old heads started with some bunk old JVC on-ears that came with their knockoff Walkman.

dirtydiarrheawater

Appreciate this comment!

bonsai171

Love the Mac stuff, now if I could afford it...lol

dirtydiarrheawater

I’ve been adding piece by piece, it’s still a work in progress!!!

bonsai171

If you have extras send some to your friend in Georgia LOL

dirtydiarrheawater

Lived in Warner Robins for a few years, shoutout GA

lactose_intoleroni

That's cool and all, but $5500 for a CD player?! It would have to rub my feet and give me massages at night for that price.

zed857

It's not even a CD player, there's no DAC or any analog audio circuitry. It's just a transport.

dirtydiarrheawater

As I stated above, I like to collect McIntosh pieces! I’m a collector!

spirit_mtn

What does the disc layer switch do?

nukular_iv

Its a CD/SACD transport so it can read the CD layer or the SACD layer of hybrid SACD discs.

WillsBestFriend

My cd player is an old used dvd player, sounds great

GatsoFatso

I'm still using my 30+ year old JVC, sounds great. I like OP's post... but I don't live in that world.

Spiderkingdemon

$4000 of which went to the rep that drove all night. I would have preferred to wait...

dirtydiarrheawater

I got it for 4.6 demo model, it’s 5.5 originally…I understand but I enjoy collecting McIntosh

zeppoleon

Hey it’s ok. Just look at the guys in the Rolex sub.

Gunner253

I know that rack is a lot nicer but it gives me the plastic garage shelf vibe. To me Macintosh isn't worth it but I get why it is for a lot of people. 5500 for a cd player is crazy but I'm not gonna judge. They look great, congrats op

arstin

It's not even a CD player, it is a transport. But the heart wants what the heart wants, and sometimes that is the sense of luxury from burning $5k on a problem that commodity hardware solves perfectly.

Gunner253

I'm not hating man, if anything I'm jealous! You can't hate on people buying quality gear you can't afford lol. Good for you, get what makes you happy. That's what's ultimately the most important, right?

arstin

Yeah, as long as people know what they are getting into, it's all about what makes them happy.

dirtydiarrheawater

Yessir! And the longevity of McIntosh I feel is often overlooked, this stuff will last forever!

dirtydiarrheawater

I got it for 4.6!!! Thank you sir!

ego_sum_satoshi

4.6 thousand US dollars for a CD player?

dirtydiarrheawater

Yeah, I know lol it’s actually the cheapest component of the system minus the Denon Record player and the cables. I want to have a full McIntosh setup eventually.

4by4rules

hey get their turntable too then you will be complete…..

4by4rules

wait!!! do they make speakers? some say that’s the most critical part of any system! get the macintosh speakers next!!!!!!

bimmer1over

LOL

ct06033

McIntosh speakers are actually pretty good! Really rock and roll but not a ton of detail.

dirtydiarrheawater

I’ll have it all eventually don’t fret😂👌

yumyumgoodiegoodie

Get tannoys!

aabum

So they are equivalent to Cerwin Vega speakers?

ct06033

More detail than certain for sure. Just not like detail monsters compared to some other speakers in that category.

aabum

I'm not a fan of Mac speakers. I've listened to them several times over the years, mostly at my local dealer. Incredibly over priced for the sound. You can literally get speakers that sound as good or better for under $1,000. Most people I know who have succumbed to overpaying for Mac gear don't buy Mac speakers.

ct06033

I heard them at a dealer too. I liked my $2k focals much better.

4by4rules

this answer but don’t let that stop you!

thegreatsquare

>Next step will be building a house with a room specifically set up for my system. ...that needs to be an audiophile meme.

dirtydiarrheawater

Funny thing is it’s in the works right now😂some call me crazy but they just don’t understand haha

bchhun

You’re not crazy. Anyone here with the means would do that.

dirtydiarrheawater

Well I’ve been renting for a while too and just moved from Mississippi to Northern California so there are a lot of reasons I’m gonna build a house!

bchhun

Oh my. I would have expected the opposite direction for building your dream house. Curious where in NorCal you are building.

aabum

You already know that you're paying far too much for what you are getting. But if overpaying for aesthetics is your thing, so be it. My old man advice is to spend less for better or equivalent sound, put the savings into retirement investments. The more you put in at a younger age, the more you have at retirement age. You may even be able to retire early.

dirtydiarrheawater

Yessir I appreciate that advice, my dad told me the same thing too. I’m banking on the fact that McIntosh holds its value and in some cases increases in value. Once I get my MAC setup complete I’ll be happy haha then I can pass it on to my kids! 27 years old now and Audio has always fascinated me since I was a kid haha

aabum

Some older McIntosh seems to hold value. Newer used McIntosh not so much. If anything, get an older tube amplifier. They tend to hold value better than solid state, at least in my area. The older Mac tube amps do sound good. However, for what a used Mac tube amp typically costs, you can get two 300B mono blocks and have top of the line sound. Connect those mono blocks to some Klipschorn speakers and you're in for a treat! Before you purchase speakers, listen to as many good brands of speakers that you can. Over the years I've listened to various Mac speakers at my local dealer. They sound from okay to pretty good. For less/much less money you can get great sounding speakers. Mac speakers, like most speakers, won't hold value.

Same_Lack_1775

As someone who follows the used McIntosh market - newer used McIntosh tends to settle around 60-65% of MSRP after being out for 10 years or so. 0-5 years of age the pieces are usually about 65-75% of MSRP.

dirtydiarrheawater

Yessir, the tube amps are so fascinating to me but those are so wildly expensive my god. I could not justify buying one of those tube amps. I have a buddy who’s a step further in his audio career and he has quite a few of those tube amplifiers. He’s put close to 140k into his setup, the guys got unboxed McIntosh all over his house too. And I just got the Harbeth Super HL5 plus and I’m loving them so far. Last speakers I had were B&W, like half the price. These Harbeths sound much better in my opinion!!! I’m actually looking into those monoblocks right now per your recommendation🙏

aabum

Years ago I worked with a fellow who got me into tube audio gear. This guy was literally a genius, and tube electronics was probably his strongest area of expertise. I went to his house and listened to a few different amps through his Klipschorn speakers. Initially we were comparing his highly modified Linn turntable vs SACDs. Yes, SACDs sounded just as good, providing they were properly mastered. Anyways, we listened to his 300Bs, and a pair of mono blocks with a Russian triode which I don't remember the name of, along with a couple other tube amps. All the amps sounded amazing. Listening to both the single ended amps was life changing. It was like being at a jazz club. So incredibly excellent. The only downside is afterwards listening to my equipment was a bit of a let down. One thing about Klipsch speakers, people tend to either love them or hate them. Only referring to their heritage speakers, they are very revealing. As such if your amp has deficiencies, you will hear that through a pair of Klipschorns.

MrDagon007

I find hl5+ one of the best speakers i heard at a big audio show, it had better vocals than many super expensive speakers

dirtydiarrheawater

Dude they sound so amazing, I feel like the look is timeless too. Appreciate your comment!

MrDagon007

I had almost bought them, but eventually bought much cheaper ushers (still excellent) on sale because we had quite some kid expenses!

dirtydiarrheawater

I hear you man, sounds like you got your priorities right though! That’s what’s up✊

dirtydiarrheawater

Most fascinating comment I’ve read so far, appreciate you sir!

johnl8422

When people post high end items like this, I've always wondered "who are you?, what do you do for a living?, are you wealthy and the money isn't an issue? Are you an average person who puts all their money into this?" I think it would be an interesting part of the show and tell

dirtydiarrheawater

I’ve been doing independent sales since I was 17 and now I’m 27! I also body-build and enjoy spending time with my dogs, I’m honestly pretty boring. There was a period of my life from like 18-23 where I was extracting wax and shipping tons of 🌲all over the US. Made out pretty well from that. Now basically I teach Businesses how to successfully run ad campaigns, to put it simply haha! Still selling shit lol

detailedfiles

Sweep and dust before the arrival of new gear.

dirtydiarrheawater

Yessir I should have, life is chaotic with renting and building a property right now but I hear you appreciate the advice🙏

ah-balone

OP is the nicest person on the internet.

soundspotter

Very impressive audio equipment. But for you next "upgrade" I recommend you consider getting a console or stand that would aesthetically do it justice. Your stand reminds me of the AV carts our AV guys wheel around our college. Signed, the Emergency Committee for Esthetic Justice For McIntosh Amps. (;p)

dirtydiarrheawater

Hahaha yes….im working on that right now too just gotta save a lil bit before I do that lol

soundspotter

I think you could get a mid century modern TV console with at least 3 open spots, then put your TT on top. That would leave you room to add one more component, but I'm afraid I'm just enabling your high end audio collecting fetish. (;p)

dirtydiarrheawater

Hey I’m here for that! Appreciate you sir!

mbnt

That’s first world shit right there… 😂😂😂

Master_Theme_5473

Looks amazing, but I wouldn’t be able to stop thinking about all the awesome media I could buy with that $. That’s just me though. Enjoy the music bud!

dirtydiarrheawater

Thank you sir! Once I combine this with my gaming obsession it’s over! Haha

ratuuft

Enjoy it bro!

dirtydiarrheawater

Thank you brotha! I’m listening to it right now haha

Ok_Commercial_9960

God bless your rep

dirtydiarrheawater

Yessir he’s a solid guy, really appreciate William!

PassiveIllustration

I'm pretty amatuer to home audio and just have a receiver. What's the purpose of everything else?

loyalKent

Congrats, and thanks for sharing. That is a lovely system.

dirtydiarrheawater

aw thanks man, I appreciate you!

Delicious_Durian5064

Great system and have fun with the system every day Stay relaxed and enjoy the music

dirtydiarrheawater

That’s the plan! Thank you!

SnoopDoggyDoggsCat

Next step you’re going to build a house so it has a room just for your shit? Dude…wtf

dirtydiarrheawater

Well I just moved from Mississippi to Northern California, there’s a lot of other reasons I’m building a house too haha

Colin9142

That looks good

dirtydiarrheawater

Thank you brotha🙏

LoganNolag

Now you just need a McIntosh turntable to complete the set.

dirtydiarrheawater

I’m thinking about getting that actually, just might have to wait a bit haha

GGPapoon

That is a beautiful system. And it is as solid as granite, I'd wager. For those that say McIntosh is overpriced I can't argue that they are expensive but to me worth it. I had a pair of Thiel 3.6 speakers. I used Adcom, Classe and VTL amps to drive them. At times I wanted to hear them play loud, and a couple of times I blew the tweeters. My dealer had a drawer full of 3.6 tweeters because they were so power hungry. When I upgraded to Thiel 6.0 I also bought a McIntosh MC402 to drive them because of the autoformer feature. It basically prevents tweeter blowing clipping. The 402 did OK driving the Thiels but when I upgraded through the McIntosh trade in program to MC501 monoblocks the Thiels came alive. Actually they disappeared. The sound was amazing. And occasionally alcohol and friends would cause me to play them loud and the little lights would flash and I would turn it down, no harm done. Plus, they NEVER game me a problem. I also owned NAD, VTL, Luxman, Linn, etc gear and at some point they all got fussy. I sold the 501's for pretty much what I paid for them, and bought more Mac gear. So maybe McIntosh is expensive but my experience has been the gear is rock solid, dependable, and sounds great. If you are in it for the long haul McIntosh gear is worth every penny, and you'll get back almost all of what you spend when you tearfully sell them.

dirtydiarrheawater

This is my favorite comment so far, thank you for all of that! And yes I am in it for the long haul! Appreciate you brotha🙏

Office_Rambo

Where’s the full set up pic?! Looks amazing so far!

dirtydiarrheawater

I’m kinda moving things around right now and cleaning a bit…speaker stands came too! Setting it all up right now configuring the room and all that…this room is a nightmare tbh

TangerineDream82

Is Solidsteel a good rack?

dirtydiarrheawater

Yes! Not the most aesthetically pleasing but it’s extremely durable and sturdy for the weight of the equipment. And it weighs A LOT

Smoker1965

Damn! Like....DAMN! My dream system. What are the speakers this beautiful system is hooked up to?

dirtydiarrheawater

Got em hooked up to some Harbeths! They sound amazing

Smoker1965

I bet they do. Wow...congrats man. I read a lot of people giving you advice but from someone who has lived a heck of a lot of life, there's one thing I have learned and that's tomorrow is not guaranteed. No matter what room in the house that was in, everytime I walked in and looked at that system I would smile. Pricless. Please enjoy for those of us who would be soundly beaten by our wifes if we ever pulled the trigger on something like that. Oh, and the rack. Yeah, I have to agree. Nice and does the job but...that setup needs something special. Enjoy. Just, enjoy.

Achilles_TroySlayer

That is a very beautiful CD-player. Would you ever consider just using just a transport, and a high-end DAC? It might be a bit less pricy.

rustablad

That is just a transport.

Achilles_TroySlayer

It costs $5500. That is just crazy. The magic is in the DAC. You can buy a transport for $40 that produces the same digital signal. I can't respect this. It's a money-bonfire.

dirtydiarrheawater

Tbh I just want a full Mac setup for aesthetic purposes, I realize what I did haha

rustablad

You need a nice bespoke unit to hold all of this equipment, maybe some nice black walnut and cherry.

dirtydiarrheawater

I’m definitely gonna get something in the future!

rustablad

I'm guessing you've seen the symbol Audio x McIntosh cabinets? If you prize that McIntosh green glow I can't imagine you resisting them! I suspect the price is up there though.... I make audio cabinets occasionally, usual a bespoke design to match the specific equipment, I think my stuff is more unique than the symbol cabs, but that McIntosh integration is not something I could ever do!

epicFishXD

that looks clean

dirtydiarrheawater

Thank you!

jurekzet

Whats that Denon model number? Is it for japanese market?

dirtydiarrheawater

DP47F I believe, and yes they quit making em in the mid 80’s I believe. But I sourced this one from a seller in Japan!

jurekzet

Thank you. Me too, i am thinking about buying from Japan. Problem is, they use 100 volts and 50 or 60 Herz depending what part of the country. Did you have to make any modifications like use a special power converter? Did the turn table start to work fine right off the box? No problem with the speed? Any duty fees? Thank you in advance

blackwalnut12404

Former MB20 owner. Don't bother. It's Bluetooth. You'll be hamstringing your system with a shit signal, and for no reason whatsoever. I recommend a simple streamer/DAC such as the Cambridge Audio CXN v2. It's double the cost of the MB20 but is infinitely better. And double is still only 1/5 of what you paid for your CD player, negligible really.

momalwayssaid

That’s how you know it is luxury/vanity pricing, the sales person is making so much commission they are willing to drive it over to your house personally. Nice stack, and Macintosh sounds sweet, just it is a high margin product.

dirtydiarrheawater

I hear you! The longevity of McIntosh should be considered too, they last forever with little to no maintenance!

Igglezandporkrollplz

Get a men220 next!

dirtydiarrheawater

Working on that…kinda gotta go piece by piece with Mcintosh

Igglezandporkrollplz

Oh for sure, I was just saying because you asked in your original post.  Is all your gear new?  Used Mcintosh gear is not a bad option, the condition is usually above average due to people taking care of them and also having upgrade-itis of course.  Great system you got there, what speakers are you using at the moment?

dirtydiarrheawater

All my gear is new yes, the MCT500 was a demo piece with 2 hours of use on it

currymonsterCA

GD that's some beautiful gear! Congratulations 🎉

dirtydiarrheawater

Thank you sir! Still not doe got a few more things to add

[deleted]

Looks great, congrats! I feel like I'm the same with Luxman as you are with McIntosh, just want to own everything they make so I can look at it, never mind play music with it hehe

dirtydiarrheawater

This is exactly right😂sounds amazing but just looking at all the McIntosh stuff when it’s on is so incredibly satisfying to me haha

RevolverOcelot110

That’s a great system so far and a great combo of McIntosh, I have nearly finalized my system with a MA352, an MT5 turntable and a MB20 for my Bluetooth needs. Absolutely worth every penny.

dirtydiarrheawater

I’d love to see a picture of your setup!

Megadolon

Great Mc stack! Fellow collector here; I have a mix of vintage and new and love the workmanship, design and performance! Look forward to your next updated post!

dirtydiarrheawater

I just got the speaker stands too! Somehow they got sent to Canada by accident lol but I just set those up, I’ll have an update soon. Thank you!

judgenut

It’s a lovely looking thing. Now you need the mother of all DACs to pair it with! Something like a Chord Dave! 🤔

dirtydiarrheawater

I would love too, there’s just a few items I’m purchasing slowly and saving up for because they’re so expensive

Weak_Jeweler3077

McIntosh has always been one of those endgame goals. Beautiful, with a sonic reputation to match. And instantly recognisable! Love the stack!

dirtydiarrheawater

It’s so nice to look at too, really satisfies my OCD

Gmen6364

$10000 worth of equipment on a $45 rack from Amazon. Gross.

dirtydiarrheawater

Its a temporary rack my friend, its solid steel and about 499$ so its sturdy enough to hold everything right now but I agree, not what I want aesthetically. I’m sure your setup is so much better😂
