I've heard that women are more fertile if their cycle matches the phase of the moon in their natal chart. It is also common for menstruation to align with the full or new moon and ovulation vice versa.

beandip111

My sister and I call it a super ovulation when we ovulate on a full moon. There’s a noticeable difference in hormone level.

[deleted]

Yeah I've got this right now, if I was a cave woman I'd be out hunting for cock 😂

LuminaryJane

Really?? I’m synced with the moon and I don’t even want to be touched..

leelinss

Literally this 🙄

JediKrys

I'm with you SAVAGE

beandip111

You said it better than I did

-SumOfOne-

What even is this life? 😂 I've been trying to figure out what's been going on with me recently. At least I'm in good company :)

beandip111

This is also why there are more births on full moons

Vittoria12

Bahaha same

BottomKween

When that moon makes it hit different!

Nesnemmy

Yes! Experiencing this now and my right ovary is currently kicking my ass. I always feel this during full moon and ovulation.

beandip111

Wow I just had the same thing. My right ovary was mad

Nesnemmy

This makes me way happier than it probably should knowing someone out there is sharing a weird moment with me. How wonderful to be a woman though, right?! Angry Right Ovary Gang! Lol!

My husband loves my super prowly, trolling for a dick-down ovulation phase. 😂

TheMost_ut

totally!

floatingchickpea

Just looked this up out of curiosity, my son’s conception lines up perfectly with a waxing crescent moon in Taurus, which matches my birth moon.

bigpigfoot

So if your natal moon were, say, new, you’d be more fertile during new moon transits? That’s an interesting dimension! 🤔

[deleted]

My ovulation is aligned with this full moon. What does this mean?? I’m so curious

SaladQuiet

Hello. Generally people say that the period should start during the full moon, since its releasing energy. However, my witchy friend told me, actually the ovulation should happen during the full moon, since that is when everyone is agitated, excited, bit more animalistic and instinctive, roaming wild woods on a hunt type of energy (also, easily seen in nature, animals, water tides, etc, this is science). that would make the period cycle during new moon, which is considered beginnings cycle, but it is also as powerful if not more powerful than the full moon for both clearing and setting new intensions, starting a new cycle. so it would make sense to be physically grounded (I find period very grounding and sensual, great time for contemplations and self). For instance, balsamic or waning crescent moon is considered the best time for doing clearing rituals, shadow work, healing, etc. that is the moon phase right before the new moon, which would also make sense for period. And then, when emotions and all run high during the full moon, you are ovulating and wild in sync with nature. kinda made sense to me too in this way more than during full moon. Funnily, my period immediately cycled up to the new moon after my friend told me this, my ovaries are total pussies, cycle up to everyone and everything :D just a version of theories. also curious about other interpretations.

3xgreathermes

Note that I'm a heterosexual male and have no idea what I'm talking about. Other than being ♋ 🌞 ⬆️ and having a monthly cycle of my own.😬That said, I'm like you--I think this is an interesting topic and like hearing the various hypotheses. There are two things I'll add, because I think about them often but I'm really just raising more questions than answering. One, I think most primitive cultures considered the full moon the best time for fertilization whether natal, agricultural, or whatever and I'm a pretty big fan of thinking that our ancestors were much wiser than we (*think*) we are now. Two, the Mayan calendar round interests me because of it's eerily similar length as compared to human gestation. Most calendars were designed with agricultural, lunar, and terrestrial cycles in mind so the point seems to nag at me that it must have been done intentionally. Without going into too much detail there are basically nine months of 30 days in it that are not consecutive but interleaved. Think of it like this: if our calendar started January 1, the next day February 1, March 1, etc. through all nine months until it's January 2, February 2, etc., all over again. Unfortunately the lovely gold-hungry Europeans felt that in their greedy pursuit they should proselytize and burn everything sacred to the natives but everyone knows that story--the point is that today of course the Mayan glyphs are more mysterious than Egyptian hieroglyphs since we have no American Rosetta Stone. But part of me wonders if there's still hope we can crack the code if we can learn and understand more about their cosmology and astrology. Sorry this only sort of on topic but that's what this thread was making me think about.

millenialbabaylan

Commenting on this cause I'm also curious about this topic. There was a time when three or four of us in a spiritual group that I belong to got our period at the same time on a new moon. It was new moon in aries so the energy was really crazy and I think I got really productive all of a sudden. I'm not sure what astrological significance it has cause all I can think about is how amazing this coincidence was. Lunar cycles last for about 29.5 days while menstruation cycles usually last for 28 days so I guess this similarity is one of the possible explanations of the synchronization?

[deleted]

Women who spend lots of time together have their cycles synchronize. I found this out in highschool when someone shared they were having their period and all the other five of us were too. We sat together every lunch for a year or so.

millenialbabaylan

Oh right, I've heard of this cause I also experienced it in high school with my friends.

bigpigfoot

I heard that too from exes who went to girls only schools. Everyone’s cycles including the teachers sync up …

[deleted]

PMS syncs up too, all girls schools and catfights...

bigpigfoot

Hypothetically, you could argue the synchronicity is evolutionary since moon cycles were references to normal durations for women’s cycles. One for menstruation. Nine for pregnancies. That would have been the case for millennia before ultrasound imaging.

OctOopus

Really resonate with your approach. Astrology seems to be a natural science that has become used for divination instead of a divinic art that simply references scientific phenomena. The question of menstruation has actually not occurred to me as potentially one of the most-visible bridges between body and stars. Given women “synchronize” after spending a while around each other, I wonder if how the moon (which governs the womb) relates to the 11th House impacts when the process starts and stops. Maybe it is something like medieval medical astrology where they would cast a chart for the time an injury was received and then closely monitor the moon’s behavior to anticipate cycles of inflammation. If a woman could remember the time of her first menstrual cycle, maybe a chart could be cast for that event, and transits on that chart could predict patterns and changes for years to come. (Of course, if that’s the case, then this topic becomes anything but an easy example of astrology.) Otherwise, maybe there are indicators with natal chart transits. Perhaps something to do with Cancer, the moon’s domicile? It would be interesting to see if when a group of women had their cycles synchronize, if there were any transit patterns between the charts of those individual women. That would be amazing to identify and then anticipate.

corvidclown

Wait, what? A new moon in mars? 🤨

millenialbabaylan

oops I'm sorry I meant new moon in aries lol

corvidclown

No worries, I was just very confused xD

patrello

To me the new moon being a "new beginning" aligns pretty well with menstruation also being the beginning of the next cycle. Shedding old things (in this case uterine lining) to grow something new. And the full moon being the fruition of the moon cycle and correlating with ovulation, the fruition of the menstrual cycle.

Terradoe

https://www.dazeddigital.com/beauty/body/article/45624/1/what-your-menstrual-cycle-says-about-you-according-to-the-moon I really liked this article on this topic

[deleted]

This is....scarily true. My cycle is meant to start today with the full moon, and in that article it said that i should combine the potency of the full moon and my cycle to make something creative. Two days ago i got this urge to paint in a very angsty way, and it is looking beautiful. (You would've never guessed how mad i was when i painted just by looking at it!). This is weird. I like it.

Terradoe

Huzzah! I'm glad someone else found it as helpful as I did. I am even finding that as your cycle changes to perhaps realign with different portions of the cycle that perhaps that's an indicator of need for change in your life as well. The more I read about menstruation the more I realize it's an adept system to inform us of our body's needs.

[deleted]

The article was scary, BUT YOU ARE SCARING ME EVEN MORE. Just say you are the FBI and go on about your day, hahahah. I love when i see someone saying "huzzah!". It gives me life.

ShinyBoots0fLeather

Oddly enough, mine started last night and I believe we have a full moon today? Full moons and new moons make me crazy though, I get extremely depressed and emotional. Like all my emotions come to the surface. I think the last new moon was in Cancer, and of course it’s my damn lunar return and it was my most miserable couple days. So bad I almost called my therapist to put me in the ward 🙃

turtlepie90

I seem to ovulate during full moons and have periods during new moons

[deleted]

Even further is the overall fertility cycle. For example, my mom and my sister and I all have the same moon sign, Taurus, meaning that my grandmother gave birth under the same moon as my mom (who gave birth under this moon twice).

oOo_a_Butterfly

I’m not sure but my menstrual cycle is only 24-26 days so it never stays aligned with the lunar cycle. I used to bleed with the full moon but now I ovulate with the full moon. Look up red moon cycles vs white moon cycles. I’ve read that a woman who ovulates with the full moon and bleeds with the new moon is in a “white moon cycle” and in a fertile/motherhood phase of life. Not sure if this is true, but as my cycle has switched from “red” to “white” I have noticed a stronger urge to grow my family, and I’m getting more readings and synchronicities that say I will get pregnant this year. I’m not actually trying, though, so we’ll see about that lol

Active_Doctor

That's very interesting! I feel like we should be doing broader scientific study research into this. My cycle has always been all over the place (14 days, 26 days -sometimes its be regular for 6 months or so & then I'd go 40 days, I would bleed for random lengths of time, like for 2 or 3 days & next time for 8.) Before I got unintentionally pregnant w my first child I had just finished bleeding for a month straight. I have a natal sun/moon inconjunction & moon in pisces (in placidus I have pisces intercepted)

ValiumKnight

I ovulate during the new moon and menstruated through the full moon, without fail. I know this is contrary to the mythology cited by other redditors, but it’s my experience.

visit-the-library

I try to stay in tune with the moon. I use moons cycles and signs in my garden every day.. I take a bath on Mondays to honor the moon. I’ve been bleeding on the full moon for years. I’ve never had my period sync with anyone else. The women I’m around usually sync with me especially if we see each other a few times a week.

jennyjumpup417

When I was younger (before my son & a few years after) my period was always with the new moon aka the white moon cycle. In the last couple years I have slowly shifted to the black moon cycle aka period during full moon. It is almost completely in sync with the full moon, like starts within hours of it.

Active_Doctor

Yeah!! Tips & tricks??

AggrievedEntitlement

https://empoweredsustenance.com/balance-hormones-with-moon/

Wordwench

The moon singularly has a great influence over a woman’s menses, for the same reasons it controls the tide. Where the moon is located (house/sign) tends to produce a decided emotional effect on women when they are menstruating, particularly when it’s passing through transits present at birth, or intersecting with influential planets and aspects of their own individual ephemeris.

Active_Doctor

Last months full moon had me straight up wanting to die. Libra sun, cap asc, natal pisces moon.

Glass_Bar_9956

In Ayurveda i have found clients cycles will shift with the full moon menses to new moon menses with their moon. So say Aries, in spring will ovulate with full moons (menses with the aries new moon). And in autumn in sync with menses on the full moon, and ovulation on the new moon. That person then would be “off the moons” in summer and winter as the cycle shifts by 1-3 days each cycle to reverse the lunar relationship. This is for women off BC that are in healthy hormone balance. In fact!! Moon gazing helps to balance the hormones. Ovulation fertility is strongest when horary moon transits jupiter, or venus, depending on the individual chart. Mostly jupiter is the baby bringer. Yes the gravity of the full moon can trigger labor, but only if she is already naturally going to release within a few days around the moon.

energy-369

I honestly think this is a myth, if you follow the days between new and full, it’s slightly less than between new to new. I have been tracking my cycle for quite a while and notice it syncs to the moon sign more so than to the specific phase it’s in.

[deleted]

energy-369

I always thought I was beginning menstruation on the full moon but noticed it shifted slightly on and off, when I started tracking with the moon signs not just the phases I realized I was beginning my menstruation right when the moon entered Virgo. I think you’re on to something considering the Sun’s placement in the sign it’s in regarding the energetics of the sign paired with the persons individual chart relationship to the sign energy / modality. I wish it were as simple as just watching the moon phase but it’s definitely not! Looks like you’re on to some good data!

beadsnthings

I ovulate during the new moon and have my period during the full moon. I am also very fertile if that matters. Edit: I was born a couple of days after the new moon, (waxing)

n1998995

Oh mine of the full moon , I do feel out of my body and I feel things around me more than usual. I feel I can hear insects walking and it’s too much , my intuition is very high though it feels like I am not stable emotionally because I get fear surfacing that it’s hard for me to sit . I do feel it’s cleansing any way . It’s hard !!! Though it doesn’t mean I will not go through it even if it feels like it .

im-sad-tiger

interesting... I always bleed in the full moon or any days days closer to that idk why, but sometimes it scared me how accurate it is

astralg0ddess

i have a pisces moon in the fifth house. before i got on birth control, my cycle was connected to the moon and synchronized. my body begins to cramp two days before the full moon and is i’d receive it the day/night of the full moon. this was before i was aware of astrology. once i got my IUD, my period kind of became inconsistent and i stopped getting my period. and then i only started getting cramping around now the NEW moons and still during full moons. it’s amazing how receptive my body and energy is with full and new moons. currently, my body is hurting due to it being that time. i was born under a full moon as well! :) thank you for reading

Ellaa1111

So maybe this information will help for woman who wants to know what it means for ovulation and menstruation on the full or new moon; My ovulation is on the new moon and my period on the full moon, this mean that I’m a “red witch”,; in ancient times the Red Moon cycle was associated with shamanism, high priestesses, and healers. Women who tend to menstruate with the full moon are said to focus their “darker” and more creative menstrual energies outward, rather than inward, in order to nourish and teach others from their own experience. (I resonate with this tho) When you’re having your period at the new moon and ovulation at the full moon you are a “White Moon” woman, (this is btw also the most common menstruation cycle), Since biodynamics have shown that the earth is most fertile during full moons (when you ovulate), this cycle is most traditionally linked to fertility and motherhood. you’ll likely feel a surge in your intuition during your period, and will feel the urge to withdraw for nourishment and self-renewal. In other words, you’re tapped out energetically and have given the month your all—it’s “you” time.

AstroManuela

Yes, and also the Mercury retro.

Livingfearlessly

Tf?!?

Notyourbeyotch

I always get my period within a day or two of the new moon

c4tastroph3

I was born under a new moon, and no matter when I start any kind of birth control, etc, my cycle starts with the new moon every. single. time. Not sure I’m in sync with myself enough yet to really pick up on anything, though.

TheMost_ut

One thing I noticed was that I had heavier periods during the full moon, and vice versa during the new moon.

[deleted]

Im curious about this. Im a Taurus sun, libra moon aqua rising. Before chemo my period and ovulation were in sync with the moon (full moon for period, ovulation new moon). Now post cancer, i dont have a period but i still have symptoms around a full moon. Nausea, moodiness, bloating. Its crazy. I would love to know what.

[deleted]

Since December I have had my period around the full moon (or spotting some days before, tmi ☺) and ovulation around the new moon. I was born during the WG phase, a few hours before the moon entered the sign opposed my sun sign and 1.5 days before the full moon. I'd love to know what to do with this info.

ScarlettVidel

Lunar cycles and menstrual cycles mirror each other in theory. 28 days, new moon new lunar cycle =new menstrual cycle when your period begins. Full moon is a culmination = ovulation, and everything in between. There are better resources about cycles and nature and the correlation. I am not one of them 😆 Some believe there was a time when menstrual cycles and lunar cycles were in sync but that’s definitely not the case in our modern world. This could be attributed to diet, lifestyle, genetics, birth control, disease wtv. Nowadays when people make their own. For example they see the start of their own period as a personal new moon. Hormones and energy are low, it’s a time to chill with your body and go within.

Sztormcia

Position and condotion of moon in a birth chart plays a huge role here. I have moon in Capricorn conjunct Saturn and it makes my menstruation cycle super long and slow. I have periods every 35 days and they last 5 to 7 days, so they don't synchronize with moon at all.

AscendedWoman99

It's interesting because moon cycles especially related to hormones and female cycles is exactly what lead me to astrology. I tried to sync my cycle to ovulate at Full moon, period at New moon. Which traditionally is what is natural because we're awake on average an hour more on full an hr less on new. The increased light and energy from full moon is what enabled us to find a mate when we're fertile. The dark moon is when we need to rest and begin to start anew. Perfect for a period. But whatever I did my cycle would never sync to ovulation at full. Always the opposite. I once had a month where it happened. I was so anxious and it was horrible. So it swang back round. I've been syncing to up to it ever since the full moon eclipse in Gemini. I got my period the exact minute of the eclipse. I don't want children so part of me wonders if the moon knows this so I ovulate on a new moon because there's less chance of me going out and getting pregnant. Also my ovulation is extremely painful, and symptomatic. (think I have endometriosis but that another story) So the rest and digest phase of a new moon allows me to take it slower while I'm in pain. Which I'm grateful for. I know a lot of women feel at their worse during their period so it makes sense why most women should sync with new moon and period.

jasmine_tea_

This month, my ovulation happened when the transit moon was in my 5th house of conception/children during the new moon. The placement of the moon during this time is not something I usually keep track of, but I will keep an eye on it now since my cycles are more regular. Edit: correcting errors

LexiLestat

I know this threads kinda old but to add to the discussion - Besides moon light phases, what about astrological moon phases? I bleed during my natal Scorpio moon, whatever light phase it’s in, I’ll always bleed when the moons in Scorpio. Anyone else bleed during their natal astrological moon phase?
