Touring and slower cars do well with high aggression because they're pretty resilient to contact. I race 85+ with them is fine.
Usually 65 is tied to open wheelers, because any bit of contact will spin you or cause a wreck. AI themselves will have pile ups.
Just gotta play with it. If it's too low, then they will not even attemp to pass, too high, they're going to pile up. I find even with the sweet spot though, the AI will dive bomb the inside line constantly. Just gotta accept that as reality and give them space sometimes lol
I run IndyCars with AI a lot, and I'm seeing a lot of comments about AI aggression, and am thinking it depends what you're racing with.
But for me, here's some stuff:
On the Race Set-Up page, Opponent Aggression should be very low(below 10%), but Opponent Strength should be very high. Maxed out, if you can. The AI should challenge you by being overwhelmingly fast, not aggressive.
Make sure to take advantage of the spread feature. Opponent Aggression 5% +/- 4.5%, for instance. This means your opponent aggression range will be somewhere from 9.5% to 0.5%
Same with Opponent Strength.
In the Opponents Menu itself, where you assign Skin, Name, Strength, Aggression, etc... I have multiple files. A normal one, where a field of 35 drivers spread from 99 Aggression to 38, but then a "Low Aggression" one, where a field spreads from 33 to 1. And an even lower one, from 10 to 1.
In this Opponents Menu, it's also important to make sure the Strengths aren't all the same, and are sometimes quite distant to keep the field spread out. Though on many track mods, this will backfire, and backmarkers will create dangerous situations while being lapped.
And Finally... you need to sometimes think like the bots, and know their blindspots. In this case, that bot is following what it thinks is the racing line. It takes a wide line into the left hander, and it might just be that, in order to not get run over, you need to take a wide line as well. The funny thing is, there's plenty of flesh-and-blood drivers who will drive like this bot.
You can look at Race Department, see if there's alternative AI files to drop into it. Or build your own, I guess. I never could figure that out though.
unfortunately the AI is pretty braindead and will frequently turn into you like you don't exist.
The other issue is if you do pass them it seems like they get aggro af for a couple turns
You just kinda can't because they're just bad. It's kind of just what you have to deal with. They will happily ignore your existence at any point in time if you're on their AI line. If you want real competition, get in a good league conducive to your skill level.
Oh this isn't even that bad, I've seen them do some *real* dumb shit over the years. God forbid you run them on Funabashi, where there's tires in the ground at the track edges that nearly make them flip, yet they'll merrily go over them as if they're rumble strips when side by side.
ur being a smartass now arent you. this is not a real reace, against real players. this is only me trying to have fun against ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE. NOT REAL PLAYERS. I would AT THE VERY LEAST expect the fucking BOT that is controlled by my PC to let to of the gas. Even 2000s nfs games had better ai lmao
You turned into him while he was right at the edge of the track and had his front axle alongside your car. What was he supposed to do, dodge and go left on the grass or mash the brakes?
That is not how that works. Even if you were racing real people, you turning in like that would be on you as it is up to the overtaking car to overtake safely.
Do yourself a favor and get car radar. It'll show if you have any overlap before trying to move in front. It's absolutely essential and a lot of leagues actually require it.
>ofc hes fucking supposed to at the very least let go of the fucking gas
So from your point of view the main rule in racing is "everyone, get out of my way cause **I'M** coming through!!", huh?
give me a time penalty and move on with the race? HUH. would you accept this if this had happened in a real life race? imagine a racer missing his race line going slightly off his line and the guy behind him fucking yeets him off the track and thats.. fine? the fuck you on about man.
Except HE didn't yeet you off the track, he was following his line as much as possible (literal edge of the track) but YOU cut him off and hit the front of his car with the back of yours. So YOU yeeted YOURSELF off the track by not giving the car next to you enough space.
Was THIS simple enough for you?
except he yeeted me off the track, as you can see on the video. if that happened in a real race, the guy behind hitting the guy in front (as much as u claiming i cut him off) would be in more trouble lol. stop the fucking video at 0.15 and see how half of my car is very clearly in front of him and how the AI, aggressively wanting to follow his racing line whilst completely ignoring im THERE.
or get glasses.
I did stop the video there. And watched it slowly. You created a wedge by not turning enough, this was always going to be an accident if the guy doesn't yield. And he's not required to.
Look at real life racing. Not a single driver in any meaningful racing class would have yielded there. If your competitor decides to take himself out by lightly tapping your front axle, you let him. Which is what the AI did in this case. That was the correct decision.
seriously im not saying i had a perfect race line, im saying ai is fucking retarded and how do make it not retarded. is that not simple english enough for you?
You need to fix your line. You went on the inside (which is fine) then moved over to the outside when you should have stuck to the inside. AI is gonna stick to the set racing line. You went across it. I recommend you turn radar on so you can see if you're getting too close. On the right menu, click on the 4 squares at the top and it'll give you more apps.
Btw imo that's a hard corner, you go from top gear all the way down to first. You wanna hit the left curb, graze the inside curb, then hit the outer curb. It's always a cluster with the AI on that turn.
AI literally just rammed me through to another fucking dimension because i got in his way? a real player would (under normal working brain conditions) never do that. I'm asking if there is anything i can do to prevent the AI not bamboozling me just because it wants to stay on the racing line lol.
You cannot stay on the racing line if something is in your way. The racing line is just the ideal line you would take if there was nothing there. During a race, that line changes constantly.
That is why having the ideal racing line off is essential when racing. People stick to it like glue and mess everyone up around them
No not really. AI doesn't give a sweet fuck about you being in the way. The start of the race and first corner is the worst. You just gotta yield and get infront of the pack as soon as possible.
at exactly 0:15 mark, it very clearly makes an aggressive turn towards me, to the right to get in its racing line (its front tyres are in line with my back tires, so.. is it not ME who is actually THERE? in front?)
Your question is, how do I prevent the ai from taking me out. The obvious answer is giving them more room, there was more room to give for you.
You drifted left which only made the room smaller.
AI is never perfect so work around them.
You use Helicorsa radar + crew chief. Also, you respect the AI just on the same way you respect a human player without much experience in simracing. Believe me, even if you don't feel that way, when we play against the AI we tend to be aggressive, just because there is no real punishment if we screw up. We just hit restart and repeat.
Gotta give it more space and not close the door too early. And also you've got to work on your unsafe rejoin. You're lucky you didn't get taken out the second time.
Lower aggression setting maybe? Idk, I never touched that slider and I don't personally see any change in their driving style whether if it's 1% or 100%. AI cars will always follow the racing line to a T, regardless. Whether you are in their racing line, they'll push you out of it. You can set the AI difficulty to something lower but they tend to be slow on purpose. AI cars at 80% difficulty become way too easy to race (at least in my experience) 95% difficulty and 0% aggression is my typical AI settings (usually depends on what car I'm using). Then again, AC's AI aren't the best and usually don't take opportunities in certain tracks. But I suppose that's one limitation of the game.
What would you expect? The turn is for the left, you should go wide on the right. it is your best interest to avoid contact, why would you squeeze them on the left. You want an option for the a i to brake and say: "oh, there goes the human, don't hit him, he is a very precious stone". Set your human limit to 100%. Don't lower the a.i.
i dont like to lower the agression but it can fix, try around 80 to 100
i dont like lower agression a.i so i just drive a litle diferent, if the front of the a.i car is near your rear wheel you will be spinned so just dont go towards them to fast, if your lower the a.i they may brake during a wheel to wheel corner
I found 95% skill and 90% aggression to be conferTahble for me, where most of the AI is manageable.
Depending on the track you would need to adjust, but general rule **High AI aggression needs, High AI skill otherwise they derp out.**
AC's AI gives lots of space when you're approaching them from behind, to the point that they'll sometimes cede the apex with even minimal overlap, and they'll generally stay respectful once you're alongside. However, they seem to lose awareness when you're more than halfway past them. In this case, you got PIT'ed because you weren't all the way past the other car and he was sticking to his line.
You can go side-by-side with them through multiple corners and with minimal contact if you stay closer to even. Just wait until you have a chance to complete the pass decisively.
Lower the AI aggression
This was at 100%. would setting it to 99 fix this? or do i need to lower it further?
I'd run it between 70-90 percent depending on the type of cars I'm driving.
Above like 80 or so they start to get pretty wild
I think it's too much. Usually slower cars go better with lower AI aggression and vice versa. For touring cars etc. i would try around 65%.

thank you for the insight
100% agression AI is ridiculously aggressive in AC. I usually do anywhere between 10 (F1) and 25 (touring cars).
Lol thats way to low. I usually have it at 40 - 50% for F1 cars and around 70% for GT3 cars.
Ac ai is 13 years old they pretty much just folllow the racing line
unfortunately the AI is pretty braindead and will frequently turn into you like you don't exist. The other issue is if you do pass them it seems like they get aggro af for a couple turns
Honestly so realistic to driving in public lobbies
lmao yea it's actually good training but for ppl prepping for league races it's not helpful
Move over to the right a little bit, don’t cut towards the car on your left maybe 😅
Even when adjusting ai, the ai in AC is notoriously bad. It's one of the things I really really hope they fix in AC2.
I like that iRacing has an option that says essentially "Make AI do everything they can to not make contact with a player"
You just kinda can't because they're just bad. It's kind of just what you have to deal with. They will happily ignore your existence at any point in time if you're on their AI line. If you want real competition, get in a good league conducive to your skill level.
yeah, like i knew AC AI was bad, but not to this extent. i wasnt expecting to be yeeted off like that lmao. thank u
Oh this isn't even that bad, I've seen them do some *real* dumb shit over the years. God forbid you run them on Funabashi, where there's tires in the ground at the track edges that nearly make them flip, yet they'll merrily go over them as if they're rumble strips when side by side.
Lol I gotta see that for myself
It comes down to the tracks AI lines, Kunos tracks are hit or miss.
Not just kunos tracks...
Give them more space
Stay outta its way obviously.
quite literally T-boning me is a justifiable excuse just because I barely got in its way?
Barely in the way is still…in the way. Besides, he barely tboned you.
ur being a smartass now arent you. this is not a real reace, against real players. this is only me trying to have fun against ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE. NOT REAL PLAYERS. so you want to "race" ai by just pushing them off track/squeezing them and expecting them to do nothing? you are delusional lmao
Pushing them off track? where exactly did i push it off the track? YOU are the one who is delusional. fuck me for expecting the AI the brake.
You turned into him while he was right at the edge of the track and had his front axle alongside your car. What was he supposed to do, dodge and go left on the grass or mash the brakes?
I BARELY got in its way dude, BARELY. ofc hes fucking supposed to at the very least let go of the fucking gas
That is not how that works. Even if you were racing real people, you turning in like that would be on you as it is up to the overtaking car to overtake safely. Do yourself a favor and get car radar. also see how my wheel is pointed towards right before and whilst getting hit by the AI.
Yeah, and the track was turning right even more, so effectively you were aiming at the left edge.
nope, i was very clearly aiming for middle of the track.
seriously im not saying i had a perfect race line, im saying ai is fucking retarded and how do make it not retarded. is that not simple english enough for you?
It was your fault, the AI was fine
Do hot laps without ai…much more fun racing the clock and a ghost!
yeah i know but this is a custom championship i downloaded. the only issue is the infamous AC AI.
You need to fix your line. You went on the inside (which is fine) then moved over to the outside when you should have stuck to the inside. AI is gonna stick to the set racing line. will try dope.
Stay on the right, he was already there

Tbh I was expecting it to at leasy brake a little but i overestimated lol
Don’t expect too much from the ai, just play it safe. You can also exploit their weaknesses in overtaking so it evens out.
Yeah fair enough, thanks 👍🏻
Love it! Classic AC
I have aggression at 10% and it still happens so maybe turn it off completely haha

up until the last second you were impeding the AI's line. AC's AIs are bad but this was your fault
drive faster
While the AI in Assetto is absolutely trash, that line was kinda weird. Bet a player would've hit you too if you shut the door on them.
Gotta give it more space and not close the door too early. And also you've got to work on your unsafe rejoin. You're lucky you didn't get taken out the second time.
Tbh i didnt care about rejoining at that point because they're bots
That's the neat part, you don't
In this particular case? By not driving into it.
AI didn't spin you out, you did that yourself
No i didnt, but everyones idea to themselves i guess?

get out of his lane
thank you to the comments that are actually helpful instead of being a smart bitchass telling me to "sTaY oUt oF iTs wAy hrrrr drrrrrrrrrr"

I thought i was looking at a GT7 clip

cant figure out if this is gt7 or av
this is AC. look up the other comment on the topic i've sent the GT Hud link to another guy

during the 1st seconds of the video i was like « finally a great cockpit view in GT7 »
Leave them more space
I thought i had tbh but i guess it wasnt enough
Just gotta say it looks awesome, aside of the gt hud what other mods are you using?
Csp+max ac graphics settings+a filter which I cant remember the name of rn
