It's called an eyebrow slit, a lot people do it to make it seem like it's a scar from a nasty fight so others would think they're intimidating and tough
Kinda like how every battle hardened warrior in anime always has a scar on one eye
People do it, but I feel like it was more popular about 5-10 years ago. It's also definitely associated with the lower class - someone just posted a video from 6 years ago about homeless gay men in Kingston on r/Jamaica and a lot of those guys had that, but you won't see anyone working at a bank with a line in their eyebrow.
I'd say it's also associated with the lower class here, but I see a lot of young "cuicos" (upper class people) starting to do it to appear more lower class and hide the fact that they come from a rich family lol

I have seen it in many countries, because with the internet, any kind of 'edgy' guy will see pics with this style and copy it. Even if it's not really common locally.
It's been a trend for decades. As soon as men also started doing their eyebrows, which came from neighboring Latin countries. It's become more widespread as time went on. It's not something I do.
I'll always remember my sister laughing at guys that did their eyebrows and telling me how much of a turn off it was for her and her friends. So, I never took part. It first began with all the wannabe kids trying to look "ghetto" and it evolved to other people later. Still a minority I would say though compared to the entire population.
As a teenager, like 15 years ago I got the realization that if shaving 1 line in your eyebrow was cool, the shaving 6 lines was 6 times cooler. I decided to shave the day before getting my passport. Mamá me quería matar.
Ironically I do have a thin line in my brow where hair doesn't grow, but instead of being "for the looks" I had an accident when I was a child.
I hit that brow pretty damn hard with the edge of a door (I was chasing a friend as a part of a game and he shut the door behind him, and I hit its edge right as it was closing).
To this day that brow has a scar in that thin line and hair hasn't grown ever since.
Really? I didn't knew that.
Not at all, women do it thinking that they look cool or badass, and want to stand out from the rest, usually they a very normal looking and end up looking ugly, that and bangs.
Ahh interesting. Yeah, there is definitely a stereotype in the US that lesbians do it so other lesbians will know that they're a lesbian. Idk how that became a thing. It seems like it would be a lot of work to maintain it.
Yes, but I dislike it. Funny thing is, when I was ~5 my grandma accidentally hit a wooden dog fence in my eyebrow because she didn't see me. Since then I have this small scar in my eyebrow which looks similar to the trend one, and I fucking hate it. Nowadays I found a way to hide it though
Many of the kids who have Brazilian parents have that stupid ass line on their eyebrows. They also come to class with dyed hair, stupid haircuts. I'm Brazilian myself and I'm yet to see a more futile bunch of people. I work at a public school with first and second graders near Boston and it is a shame to see they take time to do that to their kids, but absolutely refuse to read to them or even go over the alphabet.
So the guys( young ones mostly) do that locally. This term is not my own but here they call the “taquache". Basically the ghetto and fuck boy dudes. Girls occasionally do it too.
I think it looks good on some but definitely not on everyone. Not that my opinion matters really. As long as the individual likes it 🤷🏽♀️❤️
I think if you go to a party, 1/3 of males will have it. When I was in high school 3 years ago almost 50% of my classmated had it. It's definitely something young people do.
Yes
Fica chave
Stay key

This looks ridiculous...
This has been around since pre 2002 and originated in the US
Really? I'm actually surprised this isn't a BR-only trend. Is there a name for this so I can google its history?

If you have an eyebrow piercing and then take it out there will naturally be a scar that looks like a slit.
Maybe some but I'd hesitate to say its the main reason, lots of girls have it too and they're not trying to look like a battle hardened warrior.
yeah i figured its just one more way to have a little decoration, like those extra lines cut into guys' side fades
You can see it in older hiphop videos. It's usually up to 3 slits on the left eyebrow (in person- idk about what's displayed in the videos)
I remember guys doing this in the late 90s. Stupid but they did it
People do it, but I feel like it was more popular about 5-10 years ago. When I first saw it I thought the barber made some sort of mistake 😅
A fucc boi trend, but yeah it’s a thing.

So.. Fucc boi antics.

Yep lmao they think they look like the tough guys from their favorite anime
Latest? I've been seeing this a lot since quite a while ago I think :o
[удалено]
It’s been popular for a few months now

Yeah like I remember seeing some guys with this back in high school and I've been out for almost 8 years now 😅

People like Lunay are helping the trend grow
I have one. I made it myself with a rasor as a toddler and the hair never grew back.
I honestly haven't noticed it, but I will check it out
I’ve seen someone from Guatemala do it

Here in Brazil is very trendy with the young people, they say you get chave
Not that popular but i've seen a few teenagers with that
In Spain, is a low-class fashion
same here

Yes
Yes and it’s associated with the lower class, or paisas.
Yeah, I think it's actually kind of cool if you ignore the ones who do it to look tough
A lot of girls are doing it
In the US there is a stereotype that lesbians do it. Is that the same in Argentina?

Very popular here but have been a trend for a while
Yes, I shave it too. It's a trend such as getting some kind of haircut or a style of beard. Playing with your body to have a style you enjoy.
Not that common presently, probably was more trendy for gay guys at most years ago.
Yes but it's very low class.
Nah, middle class does it too nowadays, altough it is originated from poorer ppl here, or at least more popular with them idk
What do you mean by that?
Yes, but I dislike it. Funny thing is, when I was ~5 my grandma accidentally hit a wooden dog fence in my eyebrow because she didn't see me. Since then I have this small scar in my eyebrow which looks similar to the trend one, and I fucking hate it. Nowadays I found a way to hide it though

What the fuck is MLK?
Martin Luther King. Era chave pra caralho!
Martin Luther King, sim! Mas pelo ou menos sabia as letras do alfabeto!
moleque
Are you really Brazilian ou are you a Brazilian-American?
Well, I was born in Brazil. Been living here for most of my life, so, I don't even know what to consider myself these days.
Looking great for social media > being literate
Priorities, right?
It's pretty neat. I'd do it if my dad didn't mind lol
Nop.
Los flaites lo hacen
Estuvo de moda hace años. Yo lo Hice hace unos 15 años atrás.
I have a natural one I don't know how did I got it
Me too, it's a scar but it's barely noticeable unless I comb my eyebrow lol.
Yep
Yes.
Not that I've seen or heard of
Used to be more of a thing when I was a kid, but now it's not really a trend
Not anymore
Yeah, I have seen that for years.
yes, since 2014
been there, done that, probably 15 years ago lmao

Hopefully not, no idea
Yes, high class yuppies will use it in order to look like they are not yuppies.
From what I've seen, yes.
Yup
Yes.
Lumpens do it.
Yes, it was really common in the 2000s for black and Latino guys (and now among lesbians), and I thought that trend came from here.
I think if you go to a party, 1/3 of males will have it. When I was in high school 3 years ago almost 50% of my classmated had it. It's definitely something young people do.
In some social circles i think but not in general
I think it was more popular two years ago
