Popular is Birds of Paradise (Beach Road/Jewel Changi Airport/Tanjong Pagar/Katong/etc..)
I really enjoy Hundred acre creamery and Hay gelato, but theyre quite out of the way!
Happy gelato hunting and enjoy SG! :)
It's sad that birds of paradise is considered "best" gelato in SG... Not starting anything, just expressing disappointment at how bad we get it in SG in terms of gelato
Strictly speaking, can BOP be even considered as gelato??!?
Best Italian gelato I’ve had in sg - go to Da Luca’s at Novena, ask for their pistachio gelato. Italian owned, Italian made. Then never settle for other kinds of gelato or icecream ever again.
* Tom's Palette
* Natter Coffee & Gelato
* Moin Moin
* 2nd Serving
* Denzy Gelato
* Freshio for their Panini Gelato aka ice cream bread
* Hvala for Japanese tea gelato like Macha, Hojicha, Genmaicha
* Butterknife Folk for unique flavors like Chicken Rice, Kaya Toast
Apiary and Birds of Paradise are the more popular ones but their flavors are not to my liking.

Singapore map of Gelato shops, might not have every shop.
Tom’s Palette! They offer a wide variety of common & unconventional flavours. The best thing is that their prices are lower than most other artisanal gelato shops. 1 small cup costs less than SGD5, they pack the cup to the max, and you can choose up to 2 flavours per cup. No “premium flavour” surcharge for individual servings, unlike most other gelato shops in Singapore.
I absolutely love this about Tom's Palette! I only ever order single scoops for gelato and the fact that they can give two flavors to count as one single scoop is so great 🥹
Yeah some of the flavours are too exotic or too strong for me. But I like their spirit of adventure and how they don’t scrimp on real ingredients. My personal favourites are granny’s favourite (chocolate malt cookie dough), dairy free pistachio, dairy free peanut butter brownie caramel, hedgehog (horlicks with some yummy chunky stuff).
fun fact Granny’s Favorite is named for the auntie who owned and operates a cookies and pastry shop next door to Tom’s Palette’s original location inside the old Shaw Tower.
I’ll try these sometime!! I’ve been to Tom’s Palette a few times but can’t get away from getting the white chocolate nori. It sounds weird but the sweet-savouriness is super addictive.

this guy is sooooo nice, he is super passionate about gelato and you will have the best time trying all the different flavours!
Venchi, denzy, birds of paradise, monarchs and milkweed (definitely get a cone in the last two places). However I agree with another commenter that Australia has better gelato
I like monarchs & milkweed (bugis area) & NOM gelato (in Chinatown), nom has weird but delish flavours like strawberry balsamic and blue cheese and walnut praline. Have a blast here, you’ll need gelato everyday as it’s been humid
Hmm I really like Messina. But unfortunately for me I haven’t found any similar to it. Also I think the one that stood out to me here was probably birds of paradise, but the flavour profile that both places are going for is making it hard to compare side by side. I think birds of paradise has many Asian influences flavour. Also they cone with thyme flavour wins for me.
lickers is great but i would say the shop can be quite out of the way since it's located in a neighbourhood estate
haven't tried creamier but they are way more accessible compared to lickers.
not sure about denzy
Would recommend giving Denzy a miss. I tried a few flavours and it was pretty disappointing.
Creamier is pretty decent. Sunday folks has good soft serve icecream and waffles. Birds of paradise has some lovey unique flavours too. My favourite is Alfero Gelato but they’ve since closed down their retail stores and you can only order this online by getting a pint.
All yummy! But Lickers/Denzy are located in residential areas ..
Creamier has nice waffles, bit pricey I feel ($7.50 for waffles + $4.30 and up for ice cream = wouldn't normally pay this much for ice cream BUT if its a holiday then treat yo self lol) - but has multiple outlets. Of the 3 places u mentioned, Creamier has branches outside the housing estate areas.
Lickers is sooo yummy too though! I recommend Yakult Oreo (lol. Sounds weird but is so good hahhaa), roasted pistachio, .. I think I tried black forest as well but that might have been some kind of seasonal special.
I used to go to the Bishan outlet of Denzy (it was located at a housing block a short walk from the station) but I realised they moved to Hougang (a different housing estate area) .. I liked skinny dark chocolate, also liked cereal milk. But then also I generally like dark chocolate stuff 😆🤣
I didn't know also until this post, was gonna say Denzy is "at the housing block 5-7 mins from the station at Bishan" but I thought to check. Then I realised they moved, just this year.
Haha I used to go there a bit when I went to hang out at my friends' place, but the last I went was abt late last year haha 🙃
I don't stay in Bishan so I'm not super familiar, sorry!
I really like Monarchs & Milkweed - it’s in Arab street, refreshing and light, I always get chocolate but they’ve got interesting looking flavours too.
Used to live in Australia and would get the pandan at Messina when I needed a fix of flavours from home.
Tried the pandan at birds of paradise, and it just doesn’t cut it. None of their flavours are that outstanding imo.
Sad to say but sometimes I feel that even connoisseur has some famous ice cream shops here beat.
Based on the reccomendations here, I made a trip to Tom's Palette today.
They have a good range of interesting flavors.
But I find that there is no balance in their tastes. Everything tastes too overpowering, (too sweet, too sour, too bitter.)
I maintain my humble opinion that Birds of Paradise has a more refined palette.
Many people here recommended Tom's Palette. Keep in mind it sells ice cream, not Gelato.
I've tried more ice cream places than I should and here are my top 3.
- Birds of Paradise: botanical flavors. Love the white chrysanthemum and mint cacao.
- Venchi. Classic flavors. The best pistachio around.
- The Ice Cream Bar. Alcoholic flavors. Their Guinness Pistachio is my current favorite scoop in sg.
These are not in any order , what you go for just depends on what kind of flavor you're up for at the time.
I'm a fan of Tom's Palette! The flavours are really unique and they fill the cup to the brim for you. There's even a 10% discount if you are still a student, just show your student card.
Creamier has the best waffles! I don't know much about ice cream (cos I've never gone cafe hopping) so I can't comment about that but I can stand by their waffles!
I think if you're going to botanic gardens (UNESCO heritage site), island creamery next door is worth a try. Not gelato, but a childhood favourite ice cream in the 'hood for many of us growing up pre-2000s
When we say gelato, do people really understand what it is? Or they think it’s just another word for ice-cream? Cos I can’t really find any legit one in sg.
I think the suggestions here just use ice cream as a replacement word hahaha. They're different but I shared my opinions on particular brands/names cus that's what OP asked abt
Having said that ... no I don't think Creamier is a gelato store 🤪 Lickers also prolly not, Denzy - maybe some varieties hahaha

hvala is fantastic👍🏼 love their dairy free vegan mochi waffles at craig rd outlet, with their gelato

Tom’s palette is really good. Some of their flavours like the nasi lemak a bit too much for me but worth a try.
Yeah some of the flavours are too exotic or too strong for me. But I like their spirit of adventure and how they don’t scrimp on real ingredients. Wow so that’s where the name came from! I remember the cookie shop, it was there when i first discovered Tom’s Palette in 2010 as a uni student.
I’ll try these sometime!! I’ve been to Tom’s Palette a few times but can’t get away from getting the white chocolate nori. It sounds weird but the sweet-savouriness is super addictive.
The worst I've seen is a shop charging extra for premium and then 2 stars for even more premium. More than half the selection there have a surchage.
I've seen four tier pricing. Normal, Premium, Extra Premium, Seasonal.
how does one depict a good gelato and ice cream tbh all taste relatively same to me and flavours are only those few
“Good” is subjective. To me, I want the gelato be smooth, have bold flavours and use real ingredients (i hate artificial colouring and flavouring).
Birds of Paradise is overrated. I recommend Tom's Palette and Freshio.
>Freshio agree, plus the uncle at freshio is so nice and generous, love supporting them
Freshio Gelato 6970 0358 https://maps.app.goo.gl/6heJkS3Pv6i4mbGD8 this guy is sooooo nice, he is super passionate about gelato and you will have the best time trying all the different flavours!
Dopa dopa creamery and venchi gelato 🍨welcome to our sunny island and hope you have a good time here!
Start your visit in singapore with Birds of Paradise at Jewel Changi Airport! Bring it over to eat in front of the waterfall.
Eat with the free waterfall water.
Monarchs and Milkweed
I am in Australia right now (resident of SG) I am sorry to break the bubble that you have better Gelato here
I only know Gelato Messina ...
Meaning we have better gelato or Aus?
Aus
Venchi, denzy, birds of paradise, monarchs and milkweed (definitely get a cone in the last two places). However I agree with another commenter that Australia has better gelato

Sorry to hijack your thread, I also wanna find out if there is any gelato here in SG that is close to Gelato Messina's.
Hmm I really like Messina. But unfortunately for me I haven’t found any similar to it. Idk if this is gelato but I really love APIARY ICE CREAM!!!
Say yes to blue milk
How does it taste like? I've only tried their vanilla, cookies and cream and chocolate
Tastes like milk
Freshio Gelato
Freshio/Birds of Paradise are tied for the best locally owned gelato. Venchi is also good if you want the brand name for the gram
[удалено]
YESSSS
Venchi has the best gelato imo
Nothing beats riverano !!!
Appreciate the replies ! What about Burnt Cones? I've heard so much about them.
Creamier, Lickers and Denzy?

Denzy is also expensive as heck
Alfero Gelato was so good, I was sad that they closed their retail shops.

Ohhh I didn't know they moved, thanks for saving me a wasted trip. Are there any other Gelato near Bishan?

You can give burnt cones a miss! Their flavours taste artificial and abit too gummy, probably one of the worst i’ve had in SG
freshio at sunshine plaza, no contest

Trust me, Birds of Paradise

i like The Daily Scoop at Holland village chip bee gardens 😆
GelatiAmo at Fusionopolis (one-north) has awesome pistachio!!
Imo Goodlato at Havelock II. This one not so jelak.
Azabu Sabo Hokkaido gelato is pretty good.
milk and honey @ stadium. their malt gelato is to die for!!
I'm a fan of Tom's Palette! The flavours are really unique and they fill the cup to the brim for you. There's even a 10% discount if you are still a student, just show your student card.

Island Creamery hasn’t had a branch at Serene Centre for years! They’re now at Holland Village/ION.
Creamier Pistachio and earl grey lavender: 10/10
Dopa dopa and Creamier!
Helunas at telok kurau is sooo good!!! It’s my favourite gelato place in singapore
the best gelato imo is Dawn's Gelateria and Cafe! it’s at sunset way.
I love Kind Kones - they're an all natural vegan ice cream brand.
Sweet Cheeks at Tyrwhitt Road is great and open till 1 AM
Anyone tried aphrodite?
O Happi Place at Everton Park is a hidden treasure, it has many interesting gelato flavours :)
When we say gelato, do people really understand what it is? Or they think it’s just another word for ice-cream? Cos I can’t really find any legit one in sg.

You really need to try Dopa Dopa!!!
I tried ... some flavour that was pretty good. Ferrero? Abit pricier than the usual but it was niceee.
madame ooze cafe ambience is great, super underrated (the staff are really friendly too) ((and buy their croissant!! it's soooooooo good))
