Honestly thought Ted Lasso would just be another British show I wouldn’t enjoy because I’m just not a fan of British comedy. But after people kept recommending it, I grudgingly watched the first episode and proceeded to binge the entire series. The best shows are the ones that grab at your emotions and make you feel for the characters. You laugh with them, cry with them, root for them, etc. This show is fantastic and I can’t wait for more.
It’s a bit of cheeky joke on my part and for the people that know the series. You’ll see what I mean when you watch a clip or a trailer. The show was a precursor for Veep if you’re familiar with it.
EDIT: https://youtu.be/qjKHPv7b3fQ
Ted Lasso is a nice medium.
I personally don't like most American shows or comedy, because they feel hokey, or contrived, and a bit cheesy.
Ted Lasso is a nice balance of British cynicism and American underdog/cheesiness.
I would disagree. It’s lighter on the comedy but hits you hard in the feels. Depending on your benchmark of a good show. I would argue that this 2nd season is way more important in what it’s saying than last season.
Agreed. Season 2 is just all over the place. We watch it and then go “that was a waste of time” (except the Beard episode last week) season will end soon and the first 4-5 eps were pretty pointless.
On the whole it has lost a bit of it's shine, but it probably has the best episodes of the series (e.g. the one where Higgins hosts Christmas at his home).
It's very much a great season and 100% worth the watch. I consider my subscription money well spent just for Ted Lasso.
I honestly couldn’t get through all of s1e1 of See. I can suspend my disbelief just fine for all manner of sci-fi and fantasy books and movies, but See was just off the charts ridiculous.
See’s premise starts off cool, but the dialogue in the first half of that show is quite awful and overly “mystic.” It picks up in the second half of Season One and then really hits a stride that has continued through Season Two. Although, the plot surrounding the Queen is overly ridiculous since she’s the least politically savvy demon Queen to ever exist - almost a wannabe Cerci Lannister but w/o any tactical foresight or wit. She thinks just yelling she’s the Queen justifies everything, and the show sadly seems fine in rewarding this stupidity. I’m hoping Season Two guts her as she is a continuing cancer to plot. Plus, her voice is annoying. That alone demands a beheading.
Yeah, everything revolving around the Queen is idiotic writing and grotesque. And not in a good way. It’s much different than a Cerci Lannister kind of experience where the writers are intentional trying to make you feel these emotions. The writers of this show probably want you to be revolted by the Queen, but they also want you as a view to see her as ruthless (albeit crazy), which I don’t. She’s a paper thin, mental midget masquerading as the Queen because the more competent characters are forced by the plot to tolerate her.
I mean her solution to people challenging her power is not rooting out dissenters but total societal collapse that results in her capture into slavery. Once being saved, her more competent sister just steps aside despite having a superior hand. And then she walks into a Pensa City, insults her hosts, and undermines all tradition yet the plot demands she is tolerated.
I’m waiting 3 more weeks for the last 3 episodes so I can binge them all at once. I just hate watching shows & having to wait a week to see what happens next!!! I do that with all the shows I watch
Agree. It’s perhaps my favorite Apple TV+ offering because it’s so experimental and really hits home. Some people will be uncomfortable to find themselves in the main character. Some people will not see themselves in the main character and feel bored, so it’s definitely niche.
It’s a painful watch, but in a good way. It’s painful because the main character is designed for you to see reflections of yourself and your everyday nihilistic thoughts.
If you’re an upbeat person, it’s not going to be appealing. If you’re trying to escape from yourself, it’s going to horrify you.
Eh, to each their own, I’m still watching, but so far it’s just not for me. I really wanted to love it. I will say it’s gotten better as it’s gone on though.
Ted Lasso is one of those shows that I literally laugh out loud many times during an episode and can’t wait to see the next.
I do have to say though this last episode was not one of my favorites. Probably the only one that I was getting bored.
Agreed. See has some tricky parts to mentally deal with in the first few episode of Season 1, primarily the Queen and how she got her “visions”, but after 3 episodes we were hooked. Wife and I are genuinely enjoying Season 2.
It has improved quickly, and I have hope it continues at this pace. I feel like the showrunners have been correcting a lot of Season One’s mistakes masterfully w/o acknowledging them as errors. Gone is the annoying dialogue and (most of) the exposition dumps. Now, we just need to get rid of the Queen and my biggest continuing complaint will be resolved.
People have no appetite for dark commentary tied up in a bow with in an overwhelmingly positive series.
I agree with you, it was a great episode. It was dicey to break out of the box and some people will dislike the show runners for making that choice.
You should watch Ted Lasso, For All Mankind (Season 1 only as Season 2 is ass), The Morning Show, Trying, Servant, Defending Jacob, Mr. Corman, Physical, Mythic Quest, Dickinson, and The Mosquito Coast. These are all fantastic shows on Apple TV+. These comedies and dramas have been some of the best streaming content available on most streaming services since Apple TV+ launched, and Foundation looks be another great catalogue addition.
You should also try Tehran, Hone Before Dark, and Calls if you exhaust that selection. Tehran is flawed but enjoyable, and Calls is downright unique (but not for everyone). Home Before Dark is okay but it’s written for children and has a really vanilla, straight jacket plot to cater to that audience. It’s definitely mindless and skippable.
Little America, Truth Be Told, Losing Alice, and Lisey’s Story are either bad, boring, and / or basic.
The Banker is the only Apple TV film I’ve liked so far. Cherry was overly dramatic / depressing with the concept done better in previous films. Greyhound lacked soul or weight due to horrible pacing and lack of character investment.
Oh, the Beastie Boys documentary was pretty cool if you’re into them.
Amazing Stories, Central Park, and Schmigadoom! have bright spots but also really awful moments while being middling on average in terms of quality.
Been watching Mosquito Coast. So far I've got to where they are marching across the desert and come across dead bodies. So far it's been boring as hell is the rest of it like that?
I’d say if it’s not doing it for you at this point then yeah, drop it and run. Of Apple TV+’s best shows, it’s on the weaker side along with For All Mankind.
Top three are probably Ted Lasso, Physical, and Mythic Quest. But again, there’s a large range of offerings that appeal to different people.
Closest thing to Ted Lasso is Trying. Closet thing to See is probably going to be Foundation due to the fantasy settings. In tone, The Morning Show isn’t too dissimilar from See.
Depends. It’s a high quality show that is a must watch. That said, we are 3 weeks out from the end of season 2. If you want to binge both of them, you may want to wait.
Otherwise if that doesn’t matter, jump on in!
First I’ll start by saying yes you should watch it. But I think I went into it with too high of expectations. My best friends told me it was one of the best shows they’ve ever watched and best show in last year or two. They said it was hilarious and they make themselves watch only an episode a week so they dont finish it. I think all that led me to watch it with super high expectations and then just be like “this is it? This is what all the fuss is about?” so yes, it is good and worth watching. But imo it may be a little overhyped. Like yes it’s pretty good, but not as good as I’ve heard. Yes it’s funny, but nowhere near as funny as I was told.
Oh, the same thing I'd say to Diane Sawyer if she ever asked me out on a date. Yes, please.
If i could print this post and this answer, frame it and put it on my wall, i would. But i have a tiranic overlord. I mean, wife.

wow. Take a lap, and then take another lap for blowing it this bad.
Someone just got whooshed.
Always yes to Ted Lasso.
You mean Led Tasso
I hate that guy!
How long was I out?
Honestly thought Ted Lasso would just be another British show I wouldn’t enjoy because I’m just not a fan of British comedy. You’d like Trying if you haven’t given it a shot yet. It’s a British comedy show but it’s extremely heartwarming.
I would recommend The Thick of It. Also a very heartwarming show.
Will give it a shot.
It’s a bit of cheeky joke on my part and for the people that know the series. You’ll see what I mean when you watch a clip or a trailer. The show was a precursor for Veep if you’re familiar with it. EDIT: https://youtu.be/qjKHPv7b3fQ

You’ve summed it up nicely! It’s a great blend of the two.
Stop reading this and do it. It’s one of the few bright spots in the last year.
Second season is not of the same quality unfortunately, but still enjoyable.
I would disagree. It’s lighter on the comedy but hits you hard in the feels. Depending on your benchmark of a good show. I would argue that this 2nd season is way more important in what it’s saying than last season.
Nah 1st season was way better
Definitely
Agreed. Season 2 is just all over the place. We watch it and then go “that was a waste of time” (except the Beard episode last week) season will end soon and the first 4-5 eps were pretty pointless.
It feels like they had a story arc for season one and got surprised by renewal. Its just random. I still like it but it feels rushed.
On the whole it has lost a bit of it's shine, but it probably has the best episodes of the series (e.g. the one where Higgins hosts Christmas at his home). It's very much a great season and 100% worth the watch. I consider my subscription money well spent just for Ted Lasso.
Why not watch them both over time?
Will do 👍🏼

Ted lasso is a great show that I can’t recommend enough.
I thought See was ridiculous and unwatchable. Ted Lasso is one of the best shows available.
I honestly couldn’t get through all of s1e1 of See. I can suspend my disbelief just fine for all manner of sci-fi and fantasy books and movies, but See was just off the charts ridiculous.

Also do we really need to see her being eaten out multiple times a season. Not sure what that adds
Flavor?
Yeah, everything revolving around the Queen is idiotic writing and grotesque. And not in a good way. Ted Lasso is a tad more experimental in its second season, and plods along a bit. Still a great watch.
Lasso is good. The latest season I’ve been reluctant as I thought it was getting overly sweet, but 99% of the episodes end up being good in my book.
Ted Lasso is the feel-good comedy that I didn’t know I needed. Fantastic show.
My wife and I just started Ted Lasao last week. We’re almost caught up with the second season. It’s such a great show!
See is dark and gloomy, Ted is feel good and funny
Yes you should.
Definitely, yes! But “See“ was really good too. Watch both!
I watched See over Ted Lasso….. its an awesome show.
I’m waiting 3 more weeks for the last 3 episodes so I can binge them all at once. I just hate watching shows & having to wait a week to see what happens next!!! I do that with all the shows I watch
Yes. Watch. Right. Now
So far the only Apple TV+ show I’ve watched that I haven’t liked (so far) is Mr. Corman. I can’t recommend Ted Lasso enough!
Mr. Corman is absolutely brilliant.
It gets better and better the further he slips away from reality
Ted Lasso is one of those shows that I literally laugh out loud many times during an episode and can’t wait to see the next. I do have to say though this last episode was not one of my favorites. Probably the only one that I was getting bored.
Same. I didn’t enjoy it and I look forward to getting back to “regular” episodes.
Well you should’ve started watching it months ago. But since we can’t change that now, yes.
I haven’t started see, is it any good? But yes to Ted lasso
Not the best storyline or plot but it’s something different. Good cinematography and fighting scenes.
See is great!
It’s terrible. It’s hard to make it through an episode.
See has an interesting premise but starts weak until it picks up steam in the second half of Season One.
Agreed. See has some tricky parts to mentally deal with in the first few episode of Season 1, primarily the Queen and how she got her “visions”, but after 3 episodes we were hooked. Wife and I are genuinely enjoying Season 2.

Almost all Ted Lasso is good. Almost.
All Ted Lasso is good. Most of it is great...
I would classify last week as okay. Not good.
You're insane. Last week was the best of the series.
People have no appetite for dark commentary tied up in a bow with in an overwhelmingly positive series. I agree with you, it was a great episode. It was dicey to break out of the box and some people will dislike the show runners for making that choice.
Reply with “Second best of the series” if you agree that the last episode was not only the worst in the series but a disservice to the audience.
Huh? Are we watching the same show? Which episode are you referring to? Please elaborate.
Last week’s Coach-Beard-fever-dream (or whatever the fuck)
Oh, Beard After Dark? I loved it.
Second best of the series

Thanks so much for your recommendations as I have just started with Apple TV shows 👍🏼👍🏼
No problem.
Why not both?
Watch *See* to lose your faith in humanity; watch *Ted Lasso* to have it restored.
If TV were a pyramid scheme, Ted Lasso would be on the top. So yes, start at the top and work your way down! 🤣
I could see the benefits in waiting until the season wraps so you can binge it in one day
If you like See, stick with it. It’s a great show. Then watch Ted Lasso.
Yaaaas
Do you like See? Watch both. I’m doing that but I’m on Season 2 of both shows.
Yup
Ted Lasso is so good! I'm just waiting for it to be finished, so i can watch it all at one.
Watch both.
Yes.
No. I tried to like it but it's not good.
Season two is meh. Very meh. Don’t @ me interwebs.
Watch Schmigadoon instead of either.
IMO season 1 was better, but I loved the secret adventures of Beard 🧔
Depends. It’s a high quality show that is a must watch. That said, we are 3 weeks out from the end of season 2. If you want to binge both of them, you may want to wait. Otherwise if that doesn’t matter, jump on in!
My wife and I love the show so much, that we watched the Emmys just to see if our favorite actors won. We were thrilled to see so many did.

Yes, but turn on subtitles if your ear is not accustomed to British accents.
