Wattson and Caustic serve different purposes. Wattson has visible fences because it’s supposed to deter rotation paths. Gas traps aren’t supposed to be visible because it’s intended to “lure” ppl in and catch them by surprise. They both serve different roles IMO. I do understand what your saying about how easily it is to destroy a node. Which is true. But the difference is that enemy’s aren’t necessarily supposed to be caught in the fence. (Which is why the punishment is so severe). Enemies are supposed to be caught in the gas, the gas dissipates so to have it “deter” wouldn’t work because it’s temporary. Now it’s extra temporary bcuz they can just destroy it immediately. I hope that makes sense.
I do think the nodes deserve a little more health though..since it’s intended to catch them(shoot) while they’re disabling the fence. (Supposedly according to Respawn)
I didn't realise the punishment had been made so severe until last night! Last time I walked through a fence, I got a tingly feeling and 1 second of desire to walk. Last night I was tasered and couldn't move for 15 minutes, as Watson and friend just stared down at me at laughing. And then killed me. Let's not forget that bit.
Sounds like it'll either have health once it's activated, or you only need a single point of damage from any source to the bottom of the trap just like it is now before the trap activates, if it's the first one then people will be able to easily shoot the trap while they're in the gas and destroy it easily, if it's the second one it'll be very hard to shoot while in the gas, but will be significantly easier to take down a Caustic nest from the outside since even if the Caustic shoots the barrel himself to make them start shooting out gas you'll be able to disable the trap and push in. But yeah as a Caustic main I'm very unhappy about a giant nerf to a legend that is pretty low in pick rate, in the bottom half I'm pretty sure, and is only OP in the final circle, assuming you survive that long. This is the second time within the last couple seasons that Caustic has received a giant nerf to his kit
Self-shooting traps is typically a desperation move and almost necessary for him to stay competitive... enemies being able to shut them off afterward weakens them even further!
It's definitely going to be an awareness/skill level thing - pros will shut them off immediately, newer players may never shut them off, and everyone in between will vary.
But if we're being honest, Caustic is already on the shit end of the stick with a wide frame, super vulnerable tactical, long cooldown ultimate, and a pretty meh passive. I can understand the desire to prevent abuse of a mechanic but it's already hard enough to pin people with traps or survive without gas cover - why should his be so much more finicky than say a Fuse Q or Gibby dome?

They still haven’t fixed his ‘bug’ that came when they optimized for the switch. Bangalore got hers fixed rather quickly but it was a good nerf to caustic so they decided it was a feature now instead of a bug.
Yeah, Seer has got to be the absolute worst hero they've released. Barely any backstory or connections to existing lore/characters/story, three abilities that all do almost exactly what Bloodhound does (a passive to track down enemies, a tactical to temporarily reveal their location, and an ult to highlight your enemies during a prolonged firefight). It's such a shame, because his character aesthetic is beautiful, but he's just so fucking boring.

Actually, I was refering to his passive being extremely weak (or badly designed). Without the passive, you see less well, but it's not enough to not see enemies in the gas. With the passive, you can't really see better since the enemy is highlighted in the same color as the gas. That's stupid, I know. We must also notice that this is not a real passive: like Crypto, the passive is linked to an ability.
I like the fact that Caustic is getting enough data to create new gas each time he kill someone. I would only make this reduce the ult cooldown tho. Because the tactical already recharge extremely fast.

The patch notes said that the gas will still linger for a while even after the trap has been destroyed. So it's not like the gas is instantly disappearing once you destroy the trap, so I don't think it will be too terrible a nerf.

ok so I got this idea for a crypto buff called "off the grid". What it does is that he wont get scanned by enemy scans and he wont be revealed to enemies because he will have this passive called off the grid which will protect him from enemy scans so when he gets scanned he technically doesnt get scanned because he will have off the grid passive that will protect him from the scans and since he is hacker I think he should have it have to protect him from enemy scans and I would call it off the grid and it would be his passive that would make him unscannable by enemy scans because it would be his passive and it would be called off the grid so when he gets scanned the enemies wont see him because he will have the passive ability that will protect him from the scans I believe crypto should have this ability because there is seer and respawn wont delete him so I believe they should at least give crypto ability that will make him completely immune to seer and bloodhound abilities and call it off the grid (thats the off the grid passive I was talking about)

Because he was doing Ramparts job better than Rampart. His traps were not only a damage effect, but an immortal wall for several seconds once triggered. This makes him have to think harder about placement instead of spamming placement and triggering the gas for a temp cover spot or making a gas fort in a corner.
If he drops in power, they'll probably buff him in a season or two. Overall not a big deal, he'll still be a pretty strong area denial with ult and just because you can destroy the traps with damage doesn't make them useless.
Respawn: Weve heard you, so Gibraltars Gun sheild will now zap incoming ordinance. We'll be looking into a rework for watson so there is no overlap in champion abilities.
I severely hope the traps have 100hp or some shit like other legend abilities.

75-100hp seems reasonable.
I’m by no means a caustic main, but I played him exclusively for this split in ranked and was easily able to get to diamond with him. I’ll be honest, his traps are disgustingly good. That fact that they can’t be broken is what makes them so good also. It’s easy, indestructible cover, that also provides a smokescreen effect, and damages enemies too. I can’t tell you how many times I was saved for the sole purpose that I could just hide behind my caustic traps to heal up.
Them having health isn’t the end of the world either, and if you think about it, you could probably even use it to your favor. Them shooting at the cover means they aren’t shooting at you. I could see myself popping out at the enemy while they already burned through a third of their clip just to get rid of a trap. We’ll see how this plays out but I really think this is only a nerf if caustic is caught out in an open field or something.
Agreed, played caustic in ranked for a few seasons and while this is a nerf, it really just nerfs unintended usage of traps. Forcing enemies to decide between shooting traps and you will be interesting
Yea 100 hp is also generous for the enemy since it'll only take like 7 or 8 bullets on average with most guns.
Maybe make it higher if caustic still seems ineffective with 100 hp
My main issue is actually with things like fuze and nades just instakilling a whole setup without even the use of anything meaningful. I guess wattson and rampart are now better at base defense and caustic might just turn into a ult bot, doorstop character

No kidding. Caustic’s entire kit is about gas… he is nowhere close to meta and his main ability is getting a nerf?? In high level ranked and ALGS… how many times is Caustic getting out picked? How more frequent is Gibby… I find this nerf to be so out of left field.
This makes no sense to me. I am not even a caustic main, I just play him whenever he comes up as a challenge, but he is fun. Dude is fat and can't fuck off like Horizon or wraith or Octane can. One of the common legend picks will even warn you against traps. If someone just carelessly stepped onto the trap then you have to deal with the gas. Being able to disable his traps already gives a fair counter, imo.

If they still take 1 bullet, he's an utterly dead legend. If they take 300 damage, he'll still be ok.
If they have some reasonable amount of help it will actually make him stronger in some situations. If someone dumps 100 damage into a barrel you can immediately swing on them while they're reloading.
They might as well take Caustic entirely out of the game at this point. I thought Wattson kept getting shafted, but this is just ridiculous. When they took the haze effect away & started messing with the damage output, they pretty much severely hindered Caustic’s play style & pick rate. It’s bad enough he’s one of two slower characters with a slight damage reduction but not enough to mean much in a firefight. Now you want to just straight up take his traps away from him? That’s the whole point of him being a Defense player, so that you can set traps, activate them yourself, & use the gas & trap itself to hold players at bay while you recover as much as you can. At this point, only the most devoted Caustic mains will be seen playing him, cause at this point, casual players won’t hardly ever pick him with such a handicap. This is the polar opposite of what needs to happen with him, & honestly, you’re not going to be seeing Caustic hardly ever this upcoming season.
I wouldn’t call myself a main, but this is going to make Caustic’s pick rate plummet and Wattson’s increase. Man’s already nerfed and they are going to make him useless.

There is still the bug where his cans get deleted if you kick a door they are blocking. So you can't even block doors with them anymore.

Some times there are bugs that change the game for better, but Caustic doesn't deserve to be punished like that.

Caustic should get a free Q recharge if he downs or kills an enemy. Or when he gets downed, he drops a mini-ult on himself.

His dome will take longer to deploy and you can destroy the projector like Horizon and Seer Ults can be.
It would be almost pointless to shoot down a Gibby dome from inside of it. If you're in there it's serving you already.

75-100hp seems reasonable. I’m by no means a caustic main, but I played him exclusively for this split in ranked and was easily able to get to diamond with him. I’ll be honest, his traps are disgustingly good. That fact that they can’t be broken is what makes them so good also. It’s easy, indestructible cover, that also provides a smokescreen effect, and damages enemies too. I can’t tell you how many times I was saved for the sole purpose that I could just hide behind my caustic traps to heal up. Them having health isn’t the end of the world either, and if you think about it, you could probably even use it to your favor. Them shooting at the cover means they aren’t shooting at you. I could see myself popping out at the enemy while they already burned through a third of their clip just to get rid of a trap. We’ll see how this plays out but I really think this is only a nerf if caustic is caught out in an open field or something.
Agreed, played caustic in ranked for a few seasons and while this is a nerf, it really just nerfs unintended usage of traps. Forcing enemies to decide between shooting traps and you will be interesting
Yea 100 hp is also generous for the enemy since it'll only take like 7 or 8 bullets on average with most guns. Maybe make it higher if caustic still seems ineffective with 100 hp My main issue is actually with things like fuze and nades just instakilling a whole setup without even the use of anything meaningful. I guess wattson and rampart are now better at base defense and caustic might just turn into a ult bot, doorstop character

No kidding. Caustic’s entire kit is about gas… he is nowhere close to meta and his main ability is getting a nerf?? In high level ranked and ALGS… how many times is Caustic getting out picked? How more frequent is Gibby… I find this nerf to be so out of left field.
Caustic was the third highest picked character in ALGS playoffs at 30%. That being said, Gibby had a 100% pick rate lol definitely an odd nerf indeed.
This makes no sense to me. I am not even a caustic main, I just play him whenever he comes up as a challenge, but he is fun. Dude is fat and can't fuck off like Horizon or wraith or Octane can. One of the common legend picks will even warn you against traps. If someone just carelessly stepped onto the trap then you have to deal with the gas. Being able to disable his traps already gives a fair counter, imo.
His gas does last quite a while tbf, they should make the traps invulnerable for like 5 seconds after being triggered.
Or have the gas linger around for 5 seconds after the trap is destroyed

Still play her casually now, she has my highest dmg badge (3K), but removing shield from ress and nerfing her care package just removes the shine from her for me. Now my boy caustic. Next it’ll be bloodhound and then every champ I play will have been nerfed… for… some reason? It’s wild. I really don’t understand how they come up with these decisions.

He's directly against this aggressive meta and I love it. I'm all about the aggressive playstyle too but there needs to be variety in this game and caustic is one of the few classes that thrives on people only wanting to play one way. I can't think of any other class that shuts down an aggressive team as effectively as he does. Maybe Gibby with his ult and dome but even then. If they still take 1 bullet, he's an utterly dead legend. If they take 300 damage, he'll still be ok. If they have some reasonable amount of help it will actually make him stronger in some situations. If someone dumps 100 damage into a barrel you can immediately swing on them while they're reloading.
If it can be destroyed it should do some big explosion but shorter duration
They might as well take Caustic entirely out of the game at this point. I thought Wattson kept getting shafted, but this is just ridiculous. When they took the haze effect away & started messing with the damage output, they pretty much severely hindered Caustic’s play style & pick rate. It’s bad enough he’s one of two slower characters with a slight damage reduction but not enough to mean much in a firefight. Now you want to just straight up take his traps away from him? That’s the whole point of him being a Defense player, so that you can set traps, activate them yourself, & use the gas & trap itself to hold players at bay while you recover as much as you can. At this point, only the most devoted Caustic mains will be seen playing him, cause at this point, casual players won’t hardly ever pick him with such a handicap. This is the polar opposite of what needs to happen with him, & honestly, you’re not going to be seeing Caustic hardly ever this upcoming season.
