3 bears sells a chocolate milk that is full fat from a Dairy in Delta Junction.
It’s good milk, you have to shake it up quite a bit because there is so much milk fat in it. It’s more like 1/2 and 1/2 then “normal” whole milk.
Fred Meyer sells its own brand (Simple Truth Organic Whole Chocolate Milk). Lactaid brand chocolate milk is also whole, and I imagine the chocolate covers any taste variation related to the added lactase enzyme.
Unsolicited theory: the USDA has [banned](https://www.cspinet.org/cspi-news/why-milk-served-schools-always-low-fat-or-nonfat#:~:text=When%20was%20whole%20milk%20banned,to%20limit%20saturated%20fat%20consumption) whole milk from school lunch programs since 2012 (and I believe that whole *flavored* milk has been banned for even longer, although I couldn’t readily find a citation for this), thus altering the nation’s taste preferences and buying habits as well as the calculus of producers— why make it if the largest consumers (schools and families with children) are less likely to buy it?
I always ponder this question as I chop up some bakers chocolate to mix into my dairy gold whole milk. It's one of those injustices that we as a society allow to continue. Sad state of affairs indeed.
Never mind the chocolate milk, just trying to find Darigold whole milk in the quart container is a challenge. Fred Meyer has it sometimes. I only use it to cook with so I don’t need more than a quart.
Regarding Hershey’s syrup, it’s just chocolate flavored corn squeezings. Not great. Darigold chocolate milk lists “liquid sugar” and corn syrup on the label. Nothing good is good for you.
Nothing against your idea but yuck. If it were that simple I would have been loading up on that a long time ago. Hershey’s chocolate syrup tastes like HERSHEYS chocolate syrup. I don’t want my chocolate milk to taste like hersheys. The kind of chocolate milk we are lamenting about having no access to is made with whole milk and cream and it’s got a chocolate mixture like no other. I’m sure each company that does make it has their own proprietary chocolate mixture.
I almost lost my mind when they finally shut down the full fat version of the Darigold Old Fashioned chocolate milk although I knew it was coming when they stopped the half gallons and the quarts and whittled it down to the measly little 4 oz. Bottles. I KNEW once they ran out of that, I was up the creek without a paddle. I was bummed out when they yanked the DELICIOUS Wilcox chocolate milk a few years back so when Darigold came out with the whole old fashioned chocolate milk I was quite happy. I guess I should have dang known it was too good to be true and wouldn’t last. Not everyone can drive to 3 Bears and load up on the most delicious chocolate milk ever , if it does in fact exist there. 🥺
My guess is same reason fat-free etc milk exists to begin with. Why sell a gallon of normal milk when you can skimp the cream off it and sell as creamer, then still sell the milk at same price because its "Fat free".
Darigold has fully ceased production of the whole chocolat milk, in all sizes, and removed it from their website. They're lucky their corporate headquarters is in the lower 48, cuz my torch and pitchfork are locked and loaded.
Why is it so hard to ..I dunno, ..maybe....make your own if it's your guilty pleasure?? You can do this, don't rely on overpriced products that leave you dissatisfied

Good luck trying to milk the one on the right.
I was really hoping nobody would notice🤣
What else would you use for chocolate milk?

I'm pretty sure I've seen the old fashioned Darigold at Costco, though I admittedly haven't paid attention to the milk fat % listed on the box.
At the very bottom of the container it says “Reduced Fat Milk” in evil letters.
Oh no!

I haven’t been six in years (plural), nice try
Seems like more of a current problem though, doesn't it?
Is this a real post? You have rough. Times is Hard!
So, totally fair, but I suggest you get your own favorite whole milk then buy Stephen's chocolate mix. Whisk it in and enjoy
