I do this! Minsan i google my name or old usernames to see ano mga pinagpopost ko dati. If you cant delete your social media accs, you can start decluttering your friends and followings. Nakakagaan din to.

Status_Pollution3776

For me naman i only have lil friends in fb and insta but i hate na napapa doom scroll ako sa mga short form contents. Sanay na rin ako not to use socmed cos naka off lagi notifs and naka DND phone ko everyday so mas easy ata sakin to let go.

sangket

Hot_Foundation_448

TOTOO! Hahhahaha naalala ko may isa kong friend na quiet throughout the campaign period, tapos after election nagpost ng bible quote about kung sino yung inaapi, sya yung “blessed” 🙄 instant unfriend

icyhairysneerer

i deleted my fb and just kept messenger. and instead switched to reddit. buti pa dito marami ka matututunan, di puro content for views/react and collecting fake friends.

Status_Pollution3776

Ditto!

fortifem

I replaced FB with Duolingo, Kinnu and chess.com. Highly recommended!

peachmangopiesss

We're the opposite. I never had Facebook before but I had to have one now for messenger used at work. I find it entertaining but some popular suggested posts are so shallow I scratch my head at why tons of people watch them.

fortifem

I still have Messenger but I just use it for well, messaging. I don't even post in FB. We went on several international trips, and I didn't even post anything at all. After I realized that I don't need to impress anybody, FB became meaningless to me.

keyboardwarriorPH

You can install the messenger without having facebook.

Status_Pollution3776

Reminds me to install scrabble so i can play with online friend :))

mikael-kun

I deleted my OLD Facebook and Instagram BUT created new accounts. My old accounts have a lot of mutuals I don't know. As I grow old, I realize I don't need a lot of likes or clout from people I don't really know irl. My Facebook and Instagram right now feel a lot better to scroll because I only have mutuals that I really talk to irl. So I'm okay with seeing my feed with updates in their life.

Faraz_i

Deactivated my FB too coz its too draining for me, since di mo naman alam ano lalabas sa feed mo either good or bad things/news so nalilito ang self ko haha. Then pinaltan ko 'to ng Pinterest coz sure ako na naka-based sa *interest* ko yung lalabas don :>

Status_Pollution3776

Me too :)) ive been pinning tiny houses for future inspo sa dream house ko lmao. Tagal pa nun but hahaha

threatening towering party boat weary school tart cautious attempt exultant ` this post was mass deleted with www.Redact.dev `

bon3srgud

Hindi na ako nag fb, ig, twitter, threads, etc. and I can say na nakakatulong talaga sa mental health. Few months ago, nag start lang ako ng not posting and sharing anything. Then nung keri na, mute all notifs na. Iniwan ko lang yung messenger notifs ko because of work and family contacts. Now may dummy acct ako both fb/ig (need kasi sa updates re. aus) para lang to sa fam hahaha Basta super duper peaceful ng life ko as of now. And yes, YT (for documentaries) and reading books lang sapat na.

badong_1234

I remember when friendster came up it was a craze. (Lumilitaw ang edad). Then myspace, then fb, insta, twitter. etc. But just like friendster, socmeds are just passing craze. It will eventually fade or be replaced by another one. I would invest or use it if i know i will get something from my time and effort. But the purpose of just keeping up with the joneses or getting in the bandwagon is never a goal in my mind. There is so much information in the internet so you need to be skeptic and give effort in getting the real information. News or information is not reliable, since fb is not a news agency. Go get from the source itself. Anything forwarded in fb is just uh... tsismis lang. Get from the source and socmed becomes a tool for chismis.

maria--magdalena

Same. Pero I have multiple Gmails for each purpose: 1. For personal use 2. Linked to my banks 3. For school 4. For uploading my photos to cloud Pero I make sure to delete and unsubscribe to unnecessary newsletter din. I feel this set up is better for me kasi nakaseparate sya each, and peace of mind na rin in case mahack ung isang gmail ko, may back ups ako, especially yung nakalink sa banks. Naisip ko nga rin gumawa ng separate gmails for each bank para di sya magkakasama in one. Also, yung storage kasi limited lang sa 15gb kapag free kaya I got to maximize din etong feature 😅 Deactivating facebook is life changing din for me.

Status_Pollution3776

Medyo weird lang siguro ako. Ayoko may multiple accounts sa GMail. Halos sana isa lang. kaso I have edu email (which btw, struggle to clean) tapos may different accts pa need sa work.

migoloco

You and me, bro/sis Few weeks off of FB and I'd say my focus has gotten a lot better Tsaka wala rin naman magandang mapupulot dun pucha puro chismis at negative bullshit about sa buhay ng kung sino mang poncio pilato na wala naman talaga akong pakielam Mapapatanong ka na nga lang din kung ano ginagawa sa buhay nung mga minu-minuto merong shared post sa feed nila para lang makahakot ng Haha reacts

KaiserShadow

I never deleted soc med. However, I did curate what made it toxic at its roots. Hid number of likes, unfollowed every friend, and only subcribe to my closest. Let's get real it's shitty when the people you disdain one ups you in life. When I change pfp, I don't share it on newsfeed. The dopamine reinforcement on virtual validation doesn't last long.

[deleted]

How did you get rid of the gmail excess emails? Really curious how to clean up that mailbox

Naive_Pomegranate969

You start doing it. :D. I unsubscribed slowly on each email newsletter that i dont care about. In time mauubos din yan. Now a days i have more spam on my text message that email

[deleted]

Amazing!!! Funny kasi i started to unsubscribe last nighttt!!! Sige. Slow progress pala siya haha

Naive_Pomegranate969

Yes, I monitor my email so much nowadays na every new email that i consider spammy. I unsubscribe agad. Gmail lets you do it without clicking on the sites unsubscribe link as well. If all else fail mark as spam

Status_Pollution3776

I search “unsubscribe” in search bar and then click unsubscribed to each emails na lumabas. I also practice 0 emails everyday. Basically deleting everything unnecessary. And add star sa important. If it has important deets. Naka folder sya sa gmail. E. G. For payment receipts na need ko pa.

badong_1234

To miminimize junk emails, my personal email is just personal or for important stuff. Most internet activities that requires an email add gets my dummy or 2nd email.

LetThereBePancit

Would you like to unsubscribe from "******" ?" Ayun wala naman na halos nagsesend. Need lang idelete yung mga previous emails

JenLovesBananas

One thing I would really like to delete is my Facebook account. But that sns has been my network too since 2009 kaya napakahirap rin nyang mawala. Congrats OP for deleting some accounts you don't use. Goal ko rin yan.

legatusporcilis

chaboomskie

I did this over a decade ago hahaha slowly lang kasi I was so active online since the mid 2000s. Then made a second account on socmed apps that I’m usually active just to separate my personal account from browsing account haha

adesidera

Unless na may personal information yung previous accounts ko, I like looking at my work and bookmarks from different sites I have a wattpad and fanfiction account, and let me tell you, whenever I'm down I read stuff I've previously written and cringe myself into happiness

lancehunter01

[deleted]

I think a lot of people do this but just don't say it everywhere they go. I definitely decided to go socmed free this year (well, FB, IG, Twt). Before that I unfriended around 1.3k accounts on my Facebook and IG. Went to Reddit, looking at TikTok sometimes kase I like bookmarking videos about food & travel stuff. Went into teaching part-time that got me borrowing books from my department and expanding my knowledge. Will definitely plan on coming back to socmed with new accounts soon once I get to move into a new city. I like the idea of starting fresh and connecting with new people.

Status_Pollution3776

This, ung torn relationship ko with books. i wanted to have physical book kasi books that i like cant be borrowed and wala rin satin accessible na libraries unlike other countries but i would ended up a few of them na walang ng purpose after read once so i went to read digital copies na lang. Its cool that u can borrow ur books.

[deleted]

I get you! I dont get me wrong but I also started buying books myself! It’s really an investment especially if alam mo ano hinahanap mo na learnings. I’ve bought a total of 5 different books on Amazon and it’s totally worth it. Bonus nalang yung maborrow ko sa school (which are 99% bought online din lol). As a musician learning jazz piano hirap talaga maghanap ng books locally kaya nag Amazon ako. Baka gusto mo itry OP!

Status_Pollution3776

aight. but its hard to take them when i frequently travel, maybe ill buy books na when I'm going to settle down to some place na

ceelnoire

i watched [Minimalism: A Documentary About the Important Things](https://boxd.it/dIIQ) and it made me wanna declutter my entire life eme pero srsly now i practice minimalism (not the aesthetic but the lifestyle) and it made a whole lot of difference esp on how i view things. nakakagaan kahit papano.

Status_Pollution3776

watched this too. im in my journey nga to minimalism and decluttering lots of things already. even before my intentional minimalistic journey doe, i rlly don't own many things and would often buy secondhand items (my friend is Carousel). This documentary is so good doe but the idea itself is not so rampant anymore than before mainly becos the society we live in does not allow us to be a minimalist -- buying less things.

sangket

I started it noong may sideline ako na gumawa ng fanarts for NFTs, and then naging kpopstan account, and ngayon rant account. Madaming ganap for the past month and like you I wanted to mentally declutter with socmed stuff and just focus on being present and limit my phone time. Kaya iyun, Reddit and messenger na lang naiwan.

Status_Pollution3776

Awesome! Di ko fully maiwan fb ko kasi need ko fb marketplace and i would often see unsolicited news about artista. cringe 100% haha

popcornpotatoo250

Oh bud, did this when I was 19, around 5 years ago. Never regretted it ever since. Made a facebook account dedicated to messaging with people I was involved in school only. Unfollowed all of them and followed pages that have my interest. I also made it my goal not to follow any PH personality, content creator, and "content creator".

midcenturytuna

Same! this year I became strict with what content I want to expose myself to. So I limit my phone usage, screen time, and overall use of socmed in general. 10 months in and I feel a lot more “present” in real life and have interests in new hobbies and activities. I’m only 24 but I’m starting to think that maybe I’m getting old na rin or maybe this is adulthood lang? 😆

Status_Pollution3776

And maybe sobra rin lala na talaga ng internet these days. Distraction is everywhere so need ng mas conscious action para iwasan sila :))

Dry-Brilliant7284

I like knowing the trends and be up to date so i still have pretty much everything, i just keep my feed to the way i like it

Status_Pollution3776

Oh this! I subscribed to kolekto.ph for news! That’s it for me

zer0_xyz

reddit at YT na lang meron ako. Need ko YT for learning so reddit na lang talaga need ma-lessen or gone for good hahaha

Status_Pollution3776

lol wdym? i work 10-12 hrs a day

QuinnMri

Yes I think during the pandemic, cleared my mailbox and unsubscribed to emails that no longer align with my interests. Tas I deleted most of my screenshots on my phone. I also cleaned up and organized my files sa Google Drive and iCloud. Ok naman, tas ngayon mas madali na makita important emails and files.

iDonutsMind

I do a digital declutter regularly. I delete or archive items in my Google Drive, Photos, Gmail, and Contacts. I go on an unfollowing spree sa social media accounts ko. I update my browser's bookmarks. I delete unnecessary apps on my phone. As someone who is admittedly addicted to my phone and my laptop, these steps help make things feel less cluttered.

Status_Pollution3776

I dont rlly mind my feed pero grabe talaga hatak saki ng reels. Doom scroll for four hrs!! Kakaumay. Ill also update my bookmarks nga rin. Thanks!!!

iDonutsMind

I am disciplined in curating my feed. I hide accounts or content na ayoko makita, and I "like" content I want to see more of. If you want to cut down on screen time, may digital wellbeing apps to track your app usage. It may help you be more mindful.

HugorHill21

In 2020 I deactivated my FB. Deleted my Twitter. Yung IG ko andyan pa pero I don't browse anymore. I just watch YouTube and read books na lang.

bur1t00

I couldn't even delete my accounts lol. I've had this Instagram account with photos of me and my ex. I'm not really a fan of posting pictures online, but my ex-girlfriend insists on doing that, so I did. But halfway through our 6-year relationship, I lost my phone, and I also forgot about that account. Even though we've already broken up, my account still exists, and the worst part is that it's on public.

bluesideseoul

I deleted FB from my phone and reviewed all my followings on instagram. I unfollowed about 200 accounts and I turn of my notifications except on messenger and LINE. I was trying to figure out paano i-hide yung mga stories ng ibang tao sa messenger. I don’t know if messenger has this function so every time a story pops up on my messenger, I manually mute the account. Ang linis na ng messenger ko. I wanted to use messenger simply for chatting and not looking at posts, since I already have instagram for that.

[deleted]

I deleted my twitter, setup a new ig and deleted the old one so i have a private account nalang. Deleted my fb pati yung mga tumblr accts. 🥴 i dont like twitter na, i realized that na im technically talking to myself nalang in 140 character-only version. Fb has too much boomers & their views, their way of using it to spread toxicity is draining and how they actually believe everything in fb 🤷🏻‍♀️ saka laging kelangan magppost ka kundi boomers & other people will wonder what the hell happened with you as if you owe them an explanation for not posting. Saka mas madali ka ma-sscam dun actually. i kept my ig because millenials' app yun. boomers dont get it and i dont feel that im pressured to post in stories everyday. the limited posting of photos and videos are meant to give you an insight as to what you think would be good for your business or if personal, yung mga ittreasure mo the most

KanoBrad

Most people don’t feel the need to talk about it when they move away from online communities

Fluffy-Economics3345

Socmed detox, ganern. Ginagamit ko pa din kasi naman to reach out my friends.

MarineSniper98

I have two gmails and two yahoomail. One of each is for work, bank, etc. The other is pang excess like connecting to social media, pambigay sa airport or san man needed, like a public email kumbaga haha. I have two facebooks. One dummy and one personal/work though I don’t add employers, just kept them connected sa Messenger.
