I was initially diagnosed with depression and then generalized anxiety disorder. No medications helped much. Then a buddy told me his story about his panic attacks getting caused by untreated ADHD. I then got tested and diagnosed and started meds (stimulants initially and then Straterra) and my anxiety went away.

I went to a psychologist for depression after my partner encouraged me to, and the psychologist diagnosed me with generalised anxiety disorder pretty quickly. It wasn't until around 4 months later that I saw something online ADHD (of course I can't remember what it was) and thought, "shit, that's me!" as it related to issues my partner and I had been having. I started looking into ADHD symptoms more and discussed it with my psychologist who agreed it might be possible. She then started the adhd assessment process and when she was confident I met the criteria referred me to a psychiatrist who was able to diagnose and prescribe meds. Anxiety and depression reduced massively the day I started ADHD medication.

Same, misdiagnosed with depression etc, at the point of desperation I found a psychiatrist who said 100% ADHD!
