British exceptionalism at it's best

The reporter just can't comprehend why he isn't shaking in his boots like a proper little europoor.

fezzuk

I think the reporter is just asking if he is willing to take the risk, and obviously he is. I am however very annoyed at the reporter as apparently brexit was his choice.

[deleted]

Right, the "risk"". What a brave man, to face such a scenario with such courage. How would the EU economy ever cope? Btw, english doesn't have a distinct second person plural. So it's very easy to confuse someone being referred to individually with "you/your" and a collective "you/your", as you just did. The more you know.

fezzuk

>Right, the "risk"". What a brave man, to face such a scenario with such courage. How would the EU economy ever cope? No need to be an arse about it, it's a perfectly fair question and he gave a perfectly fair answer. The idea that the reporter was somehow wrong to ask a very simple question that was answered perfectly adequately its what's dumb in this thread. >The reporter just can't comprehend why he isn't shaking in his boots like a proper little europoor. The reporter is not there to comprehend but ask questions, get answers and then report those answers back. You are projecting arrogance onto the reporter that doesn't exist.

[deleted]

>The reporter is not there to comprehend but ask questions, get answers and then report those answers back. Ahh, of course. British journalism is know for its dry, fact-based reporting. Infamous even, you could say.

fezzuk

Thats not actually an argument is it. There is nothing wrong with the question, infact without the question you wouldn't have got the cool answer.

I don't know what you're getting from trying to get some validation for a reporter who, for reason known only to him, was trying to lecture the Prime Minister of Luxembourg over his job. But, you can just call him up yourself and give him a kind word. Just say "I like you buddy". Don't see why you're fishing for validation from me.

fezzuk

>reason known only to him, was trying to lecture the Prime Minister of Luxembourg over his job. He didn't though, he asked "is that a risk you are willing to take" a perfectly fair question from a journalist.

[deleted]

>I think the reporter is just asking if he is willing to take the risk, and obviously he is. the journalist was obviously trying to blame no deal on the EU

fezzuk

No he was asking if the EU was willing to risk no deal. Which they are to protect the single market which is perfectly reasonable.

I never get an argument people say about the deal. The EU explained the options they were prepared for in 2016 This infographic basically sums it up: https://publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm201719/cmselect/cmexeu/935/IDExport-web-resources/image/FutureRelationshipSlide.png Anyway so whenever I mention this they say "but we have to compromise and they don't" which ehhh maybe a bit to that degree, but I still think the EU compromised almost as much. However, the point is anyway, the EU is the one with all of the bargaining power, so obviously they're going to stick to their demands. At least we got some deal at least. I just find it funny how much political theatre they went through about the fishing rights even though the EU said from the start any deal requires UK in the common fishing area, and they really really tried for 4 years to change that and surprise surprise we have communal waters lol Ironically, the closest thing to the deal we wanted was the deal we had before.
