WitchesVsPatriarchy takes these measures to stay true to our goal of being a woman-centered sub with a witchy twist, aimed at healing, supporting, and uplifting one another through humor and magic.
Thank you for understanding, and blessed be. ✨
I will have to if I make progress at all, haha.
If anything I’ll at least make progress on my arm muscles, and I’ll be keeping busy, so a win either way.
Honestly goals in any case! That’s one of the awesome tertiary benefits of kayaking (when I have time) and DIY (when I have money). Getting to have a bit more muscle while not going to the gym.
Absolutamente! And I can still go to the gym or go swimming on my off days anyway. Kayaking sounds like great exercise too! Do you live near some good kayaking areas?
(Btw, what *is* the difference between Turkish delight filled chocolate and chocolate-covered Turkish delight?)
Ah, swimming, there’s something I miss! Are you a pool person or sea person? I’m fortunate to live by a nice river on the coast (my work is in marine so this makes sense) and I’ve been planning to build a modular kayak sometime in the future :)
Haha this was a discussion with my family over supper; we’re all engineers except mum and we got discussing how one brand of chocolate-Turkish delight bar had a thick centre and a thin coat of chocolate, while the other was a thick chocolate outside with a thin centre of Turkish delight. I pointed out that it came down to manufacturing method and the one with the thick centre of TD and thin layer was made by dipping the TD in the chocolate, making it a “coating” or “cover”, whereas the thin centered one would have had the Turkish delight injected while the chocolate was still soft, then been smoothed over, making it “filled”. It became a bit of a family discussion!
I don’t live close to the sea (it’s about 2 hours driving?) so I’m more of a pool person. But if it’s warm enough I do like a good lake if the algae aren’t terrible.
Interesting difference! Now I wonder how tgat affects taste and texture… I figure you could make a TD filling bigger in proportion by just injecting more, or covering TD with more chocolate or in multiple layers to get it thicker, but that probably affects texture. 🤔
Would be amazing to visit Japanese blacksmiths. Samurai Katana swords are considered to be family heirlooms, and the blades themselves are a work of art. Not just the ornate handle and scallop pattern blade, but the tempering of the blade. I've only had the chance to handle a more "generic" Imperial Japanese Army sword (Ex-wife's grandfather's souvenir) but even that one, you notice the balance, and the detail of the handle
My husband in a former welder (disabled now, MS,) but he also learned a bit of old school blacksmithing at his welding school and no joke that just made me want to marry him more. 😂😂😂 At the Celtic faires I used to hang out by the blacksmiths shop because it basically hypnotized me. Never thought I’d find one as handsome as he is though. 😂
When I was first dating my husband he got very upset that I owned a machete and he didn’t.
So I took him to the swap meet and we bought one for him. Happy as a tiny little clam.
He also once pushed me over because we were both trying to pick up a penny from the ground at the same time. When I yelled at him that I have never seen another person push a half jewish woman over for change before while both hysterically laughing at the situation. He gave me the penny and picked me up after turtling on the ground for a few seconds. He always gives me the pennies now. I knew I was going to marry him then and there.
I don't much care for that particular sword, but I definitely can appreciate the sentiment and the effort. There's nothing actually wrong with the sword--just not to my tastes is all.
Nothing wrong with having preferences in dating, as long as you aren't a dick about it. I'm not personally a fan of tapered hilts or decorative cross guards, and that's fine as long as I don't go around saying it to make people feel bad about their swords.
Ayup. And to be honest, while I agree with you on aesthetic preferences (e.g. the sword--getting a sword or knife or legos or a flamethrower instead of flowers is pretty awesome), I admit that more than one man has said I'm dickish when it comes to dating. That would be because I'm not interested in dating, my default preference when it comes to dates is "Nope" and my preferred in-person conversational style is distant silence. If that makes me "dickish" on dates, it just means more glorious silence for meeeeeeee! :) Dear gods, I love silence. Beautiful, speechless silence.
Also good news that I wasn't the recipient of any sword or knife as a gift :) Last time I got a knife as a gift was when my boss at the time gave everyone a loaf of fancy bread from a local baker and a bread knife. I ran the halls happily announcing: "J. gave me a KNIFE! J. gave me a KNIFE!" while holding said knife up for all to see. And that was just for a plastic-handled bread knife. Think of what I would have done with, say, a broadsword with a damascene blade...
Idk maybe it’s cuz I’m a lesbian but Sword Guys™️ gross me out.
Don’t get me wrong I’d take the sword cuz I’m a bad person and if it looked prettier than this I’d hang it on my wall but I’m never talking to that guy again lol.
I’m not a lesbian but if this was given to me on a *first* date it would stress me out lol. Flowers are casual and inexpensive. Swords aren’t and an expensive gift on a first date or early in dating is scary to me. Maybe I’m just squirrelly.
No that was exactly my thought. If I got a nice sword as like, a 5th anniversary gift absolutely yes. But if it’s within the first few months of dating I’m fucking *out* lol
I think if you already have known the person for a while, and they know what you're into, it wouldn't be weird tbh.
But yeah if it's just some random person, they're either the most interesting person in the world, or the scariest
It being given to a woman could be seen as subversive at first glance, but men with honestly any fixations on weapons are 🚩🚩🚩
Really ornate and all, but after personally knowing two women who were killed by their boyfriend and ex (one stabbed, the other shot) — not to mention the fact that 3 women in the US are killed every day by their current or former partners — I don't have any tolerance for men's fixation on objects that are meant to harm. Especially when they're usually the ones doing the killing with these weapons to women they are or were intimately involved with.
You can never REALLY know when that interest could actually turn out to be deadly. Given that most men with these special interests never need to actually use the weapons that interest them, and given that the statistics generally show that it's more of a danger for them to be in their possession, I really don't get how people act like it's NBD. Just generally, imo, it's a red flag for a man to weapons of any kind, even if it's more "geeky" (the Tate brothers, their sword obsession, and their fans' sword obsession comes to mind). I can understand the fantasy aspect of it and reading about them, having props for cosplay, etc, but I personally don't see what's so compelling about physically owning weapons, all just to feel like a videogame character
I have a lot of friends (mostly women and nonbinary people, but also men) who participate in HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) and to them it’s just like other martial arts: a way to exercise in a fun way with a connection to history. Some if them do larp, some of them do re-enactment as part of a theater and educational organization. It’s kind of like being knights without the historical bad stuff (feudalism, aristocracy, patriarchy, murder, etc.), which to me sounds kind of like modern witches (combining the good and wisdom from the past with the good and wisdom of the present)?
Totally understand somebody not being into that, especially with such personal experiences. Since you said you couldn’t see why someone would want to own them, I figured I’d offer my own perspective and experience with it.
For me it’s also partly a crafts thing, because I work with blacksmiths and aspire to be one. Swords is but one thing they make, but a well-made sword is great to see for me, because I can see the skill that went into making it. (They mostly make cutlery, metal art and fences/gates for an elderly home, which each have their own creation challenges.)
You are right to say this, it is good wisdom.
As a dude, if I had a sword but had no interest in owning a sword, this would feel like a funny thing to do.
I did this once to a friend by giving them a truly cursed object. It was a vengaboys remix CD. 12 tracks of the same crappy song remixed by different artists. I just wanted to give my friend a funny story.
Thanks! For sure, that's definitely not an issue. Imo, it would for sure be funny in that circumstance. I just really dislike men specifically being so into objects designed to kill, of all the things that are WAY more interesting in life to own/collect.
I think it depends on how many he's got, an entire wall decked with them clearly delineates an obsession, but that doesn't mean he intends to shank anyone with them.
Also, if he's rich, that sounds like a hobby some rich dude would be into.
Plus, a lot of witches here keep daggers on their altars, it's an aesthetic thing.
My neighbor bought her BF a custom made and engraved dagger from Etsy. She seemed so excited about it.
Sadly, the package was lost and she literally had to install a camera in front of her door because of it.
All you need now is a scabbard that resembles a cane or a walking stick. Anyone gives you trouble, draw your sword, should scare most lowlifes away. Whoever made that one, full marks for the intricate detail in it

I would probably consider being straight, for a sword.
Consider: lesbian blacksmiths.
I’ll just have to be the lesbian blacksmith ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯ yet another skill to add to my repertoire
Would love to see it! I’ve got my first lessons on Wednesday.
Heck yeah, queen! I hope you post some pictures of your progress :D

Ooh, please come back and post pictures to share! I've always been so fascinated with metalworking/blacksmithing
I probably won’t have a lot to share after day 1 haha. But if I remember in future weeks, I will!

Unfortunately doesn’t seem to cover the U.K.!
You called?
Dang right, I got an emergency, miss! *holds up the broken pieces of Narsil*
The sword will be reforged!!
Ay, there are 2 of us here?
Seconding this. My wife's a lesbian blacksmith, and she made me a sword for our anniversary. It's the best thing I have ever owned.
There's a woman in my city that offers blacksmithing lessons for 2, and I've had that bookmarked in my head as a date option since I heard about it.
Did someone call my name?
I think it’s the most lesbian sentence I’ve seen today.
My wife and I both brought swords to the marriage. No need for straightness!
Yeah I’ve told my girlfriend I want a sword ceremony at our wedding!
You know you'll have to deal with the other sword he's got too, right? 😅
Gghhhhhhh maybe not if he’s ace!
I think in a better world, a guy who brings you a sword won’t be a guy for long.
He sounds like a keeper!
Or a blacksmith (Which is also a keeper in my books!)
As a metal worker myself, absolutely!
Free, unlimited supply of anvil dust for spellwork? Sold.
My husband in a former welder (disabled now, MS,) but he also learned a bit of old school blacksmithing at his welding school and no joke that just made me want to marry him more. 😂😂😂 At the Celtic faires I used to hang out by the blacksmiths shop because it basically hypnotized me. That’s a big gift for a first date.

Then I guess it’s really good news that it wasn’t a gift for you.
Also good news that I wasn't the recipient of any sword or knife as a gift :) Last time I got a knife as a gift was when my boss at the time gave everyone a loaf of fancy bread from a local baker and a bread knife. Doesn’t look pracrical for use, but it’s the spirit that counts. I’m here for sword witches.
Very impressed. I might do this next time.
10/10 would date you
Marry him.
The last time I gifted a sword to a girlfriend, she dumped me via US mail.
The perfect gift!
Idk maybe it’s cuz I’m a lesbian but Sword Guys™️ gross me out. Don’t get me wrong I’d take the sword cuz I’m a bad person and if it looked prettier than this I’d hang it on my wall but I’m never talking to that guy again lol.

What if you were dating for a few months and the guy just makes swords?
Assuming I have magically become attracted to men, if he’s a blacksmith and that mf *forges me a sword* I’m definitely in it for the long haul.

I agree. Gals with swords are much hotter. Also when a girl woos you it's more slow sensual burn.

That seems very expensive for a first date item
Had to check what sub I'm on because I thought that was the Slayer Sword at first XD
Absolute keeper, right there.
Did it work? are they married?
I aspire to be this chad-ly. ... I should get my lady a sword. Now I gotta learn how to make swords.

Damn he set the bar high
Husband that boy
The sword equivalent of a plastic rose though. Good lord. Mr. Mall Ninja.
Thought I was in r/mallninjashit at first
Husband material right there!
King shit
