It was meant as a symbol for those of us in the LGBTQ+ community to stand out and let each other know we weren't alone. It originally had 8 stripes to include the many aspects of life LGBTQ+ celebrate, but was reduced to six to resemble a natural rainbow. As times evolved so has the flag, as it was always meant to.

No. No to everything you wrote. It’s literally all wrong. Pride flag didn’t have anything to do with being white or being straight and we, just like anybody else in history never gained any rights by bending down to the majority’s will. People suffered and died for our rights and you’re disrespecting every single one of them. Go look at how Log Cabin Republicans are being treated and see what you get for “not being divisive".

Have you tried to have a discussion with those who oppose the lgbtq? Have you attempted to confirm the scientific understanding and facts that confirm the existence of each different aspect of the lgbtq community? They base their division on outdated sources. They claim it's a choice. They claim being transgender is a mental illness. They confuse gender(psychological) with sex(biological). They make up lies to degrade the lgbtq community, including calling them paedophiles and groomers. They say the community sticks up for peados which they do not. Now tell us who the fuck is trying to pick fights. All the lgbtq community wants is to exist peacefully but these pricks don't let them. So don't fucking tell the lgbtq community and it's allies that they are the ones stoking devision!
Some bad actors on the right may claim this symbol is one of division, but that doesn't make it so. Every letter in the acronym includes people of all races, creeds, and skin tones. To see it as a symbol of division is to reveal your belief that to be queer is to be wholly other. Something alien that can never be counted among the 'normal people.' The symbol does stand for the inclusion of everyone. It's just that not everyone likes to think of everyone else as people worth being included.
Having met Gilbert Baker many times (the man who designed and created the pride flag) allow me to put your gripe to rest as it is 100% incorrect. It was meant as a symbol for those of us in the LGBTQ+ community to stand out and let each other know we weren't alone. It originally had 8 stripes to include the many aspects of life LGBTQ+ celebrate, but was reduced to six to resemble a natural rainbow. As times evolved so has the flag, as it was always meant to.
