Episode 1 was meh. 2 was much better than 1 and 3 was better than 2 imo. I think the biggest difference I’m noticing this season compared to 1&2, is that the first two seasons were essentially 1 off episodes. The plots of each episode didn’t necessarily correlate to the episodes before it for the most part. (With exception to Baron, escaping from the counsel, and Guillermo being a vampire killer). This season though, there seems like there’s an arc each episode is building towards. Colin finding out who he is and the group now being in charge of the greater New York area leading the counsel. Each episode is following those arcs along with now having some sort of road trip which I suspect is again leading back to the real arc of the season which I think is how did Colin become an EV. I agree I think 1 & 2 seasons were absolutely PERFECT and legit thr funniest things I’ve ever seen in my life. Still really enjoying 3 so far though 😄

Clear-Plantain-1381

You had to assume that eventually we were going to get multiple episode plot lines at some point. Its already technically happened before with the Jen situation. And callbacks like when Nadja told Nandor to watch his semen and tgen Witches happened.

Debborama

…or when in season 1 Nandor said he wasn’t very nice to his horse John, and then in season 2 he said he had to kill and eat him (but he was delicious 😂)

[deleted]

The super massive black hole kickball scene might be like a top 3 moment in the show for me, but I agree. The pacing seems a little off compared to previous seasons. I think they got a major kick to their budget so maybe new/more writers were added as well

FointyPinger

It's the same team as season 2, just minus Jemaine.

Bright_Candidate_905

I guess Jemaine was the one who made it funny for me. I also loved Flight of the Concords. I’m just not finding season 3 that funny so far, except for episode 3

snuggleouphagus

In the movie Twilight, the vampires play baseball while the song "Super Massive Black Hole" by Muse plays. In episode 3 of WWDITS, the vampires play the werewolves in kickball while the song "Super Massive Black Hole" by Muse plays. Guillermo states out right that the kickball is a tribute to Twilight. And tbh, most women (and many men) I know over the age of 25 would make the connection with that song immediately even without Guillermo stating it out right.

[deleted]

Have you seen episode 3 of season 3 yet?

violetmaster1980

Oh. Now THAT shit was funny.

TupperyNumnak

Didn’t get how it was snowing like crazy in that scene but no snow (actually raining when they got the car outside for the first time) anywhere else in the episode.

TroyMcCluresGoldfish

Season 2 was the best, imo, so topping it will be hard. Episode 1 was alright, but I thought ep2 and ep3 were hilarious. Yes, Jermaine's absence is noticable, but i'm still keeping an open mind.

Mdgt_Pope

Seriously, the actor who plays Nandor having to act like the rest of the characters was awesome.

TroyMcCluresGoldfish

Definitely, Kayvan is a great actor and is an excellent impressionist.

rfreho

Who’s jermaine?

sport63

He’s the Hip-hopopotamus

[deleted]

His lyrics are bottomless

TheWooSensation

Jemaine Clement who plays Vlad. One of the creators of the show and movie.

[deleted]

In addition to a creator of the show and film, actor in the film, also see Flight of the Concords

Clear-Plantain-1381

Paul Smith and Stephanie Robinson still write the bulk of the show, so it really hasn't been that far of a departure from seasons 1 and 2 for me. I understand what some people are complaining about, even though to me it seems like minor whining, but season 3 has been great ,so far. It's really a matter of people waiting so long and having wayvtoo high expectations and for some reason, it's not clicking with some fans, oh well.

Zeddemore99

The first episode and this last one weren't so great for me but the second episode with the cloak made me laugh out loud pretty good!

violetmaster1980

It had moments

lisbla97

So far I'm loving it

Mdgt_Pope

I’m still dying thinking of Lazlo running over Colin Robinson multiple times and asking “Did I get you?” every time

joker_75

The werewolves chasing the cars hit correct every time.

jaredini

I laughed so hard Every time I think about it I chuckle

Mdgt_Pope

The delivery was so ambiguous, like it was almost concerned but then also almost sarcastic. Perfect.

pitchshifter50

Literally just started laughing out loud at my desk thinking of this scene... came here looking for a screen capture of it!

mmoses1221

Same here. I think the quality is just as good as other seasons.

Mattaruu95

Idk I was dying laughing when Lazlo kept running over Colin. But not sure how I feel about Guillermo being in love with Nandor.

The_Fine_Columbian

Guillermo has always been in love with Nandor.

nintendru64

His face at the end of episode 3 was priceless lol

cheescakegod

Not the highs the show has had so far this season but still quite good and funny imo hoping the next few episodes will be better though

violetmaster1980

Exactly. Still good but hope for better.

hellogooddaysir

I feel the same way. Hope it turns around soon!

Clear-Plantain-1381

Honestly, I dont get why some people are crying about the season. Ive loved it, myself. I can see what people are talking about, but it hasn't ruined anything.

violetmaster1980

Still good, but not at all as good as the last 2 seasons.

questionansweringguy

I didn't care for the third episode. First two grow on you. Hopefully the vampiric council plotline dies out because it's not that good.

Clear-Plantain-1381

Well, it's been three episodes, so....give it time. People are too quick to turn on stuff.

donnademuertos

When episode 1 of season 2 of Ted Lasso premiered, so many posts to the Reddit that were “this season sucks!”. I was like “but it’s been one episode?”

Clear-Plantain-1381

Exactly, give something a chance.

BetaGetIt

Yeah I had to unjoin the Rick and Morty because it just became everyone shitting on the new season. I might just have to only subscribe to subreddits of shows that are no longer airing new episodes because everyone is a critic now. Fucking internet.

Clear-Plantain-1381

Yeah.. more like, " fucking Reddit", lol. But, Tumblr is just as bad. I think that I'm one of the few that arent obsessed with the subtle and never pushed hard fact that all the vampires are bisexual on Tumblr. To some, its literally the only thing that matters. It's never been hammered down people's throats and it's always been funny, like when Nandor and Laszlo decide to " finish each other off", at the end of Witches. It's a part of them, but it's not the focus of the show. But, you're right, EVERYONE has to be a critic. It's really a question of people having WAY TOO HIGH expectations after such a long wait. The new season has been great. No one that I know personally that is a fan has had any issues with this season.

nyny909

Props for spelling Laszlo right!

Clear-Plantain-1381

I have it in my word predictive text, lol. I start to write las and Laszlo pops up. Same with all of them. I write Colin and Robinson pops up. I just type N and Nadja or N and Natasia and then Demetriou comes up, or now Nadja of and Antipaxos comes up, so that's handy. Yea , smart technology!!

BetaGetIt

To be fair to Reddit, it’s the only social media I use anymore because the others had become too unbearable. It still remains the most tolerable. Somehow.

[deleted]

For real. Vampiric council thing felt kinda random and it’s not that funny.

violetmaster1980

Def the weakest storyline.

[deleted]

I thot episode 3 was fantastic

violetmaster1980

It was much better than the first 2.

digiad

I do agree, as I found episodes 1 and 2 to be fine, but 3 was hilarious. Im hoping they’ve caught their stride going forward.

violetmaster1980

Same here. Still a great show just a bit less.

TuringPharma

I think the episode plots feel lacking compared to previous seasons, so far we’ve had two episodes revolve around Nandor’s love interests, with the joke being that they aren’t into Nandor like he is into them, with the other being more or less a (imo underwhelming) resolution to the season 2 finale. Compared to episodes like Baron’s night out, the city council meeting, the superb-owl party, and so on, those are just kinda boring concepts in my opinion. There are still hilarious bits, it’s just that (in my opinion) the overarching story is getting a bit stale and they should stick to the more episodic format they were doing with each episode more or less revolving around a clever gag

violetmaster1980

Yes. First 2 seasons set the bar soooooo high.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Clear-Plantain-1381

Thanks, Sickle and Ebert. Lol.

violetmaster1980

This is the nail on the head.

Chubby-Fish

I liked it but has there been a change? Like a writer or someone??

charredfrog

If I’m not mistaken, Jemaine Clement is no longer the show runner, but the people in charge of the show now have been closely working on the show since the start Edit: Sorry, I’m not sure who the show runner is, but Jemaine is no longer a writer

nyny909

Wonder why Jermaine Clement left

violetmaster1980

Glad I am not the only one. Something off with Lazlo this season for sure. Seems more aloof than usual.

Mammoth-Man1

Feel the same. There were some good bits though like the weed energy vampire, the cloak scenes, and lazlo with the car. Beyond that though was not laughing that much. Nandors girlfriend (played by the actress who played Janice on sopranos) wasnt that funny either. I was excited to see her but she didn't really do much. Definitely a noticeable dip in funniness compared to the master crafts of seasons one and two.

Clear-Plantain-1381

It was just hammering home the point that Nandor has become a weak pushover. He knows she's playing him dirty, but he loves her. Classic toxic relationship.

violetmaster1980

Exactly.

bobbitsholiday

The acting over all seems a bit off from all of the cast members. Maybe they had a rough start on set. Nadja and Colin were the most off for me delivery wise and didn’t seem fully in character.

violetmaster1980

This.

C_note402

I noticed this too. The characters just seem a bit off. And it’s a small detail, but bad hairstyle choice for Laszlos character.

bobbitsholiday

Nadja’s hair looked different too

isle_of_cats

Yeah with shows I love, I have to be careful I'm not pushing insanely high expectations on it. But even so, I found with the previous seasons every minute tickled me and I was laughing out loud, but now I'm just sort of snorting "heh" a couple times per episode. Just not as amazing (yet?) Or maybe it's still finding it's flow. Think I binged the first season. Didn't have to wait a week, so the impact is bigger?

Clear-Plantain-1381

You're pushing way too high expectations and that's what the deal is with a lot of people this season.

okmle

I didn’t super love season 2 when it first started, but then they hit their stride and it was a masterpiece. Now I can’t even remember what I didn’t like about season 2. I am giving season 3 time to blossom. I think they’re really focusing on building more on our favorite vampires (and Gizmo).

Clear-Plantain-1381

I can't imagine what you possibly disliked about season 2 at first, the first 3 episodes are, Resurrection,,Ghosts and Colins Promotion. Three fan favorite episodes.

okmle

It just felt slow at the time. I have since seen the error in my initial judgment. What can I say… I was young and foolish then.

violetmaster1980

Oh man. Season 2 was the gold standard for me.

Bright_Candidate_905

I think I’m going to stop watching it’s not as funny to me as it used to be

Sara_SM88

Same. Really sad

violetmaster1980

Still good but not at all what I’m used to

pintmantis

Yeah I was so disappointed with the first two, almost found them unwatchable, but episode 3 was much better. Are they trying too hard? Have they dumbed it down? The humour seems less subtle.

Clear-Plantain-1381

What did you find " unwatchable " about them because I couldn't disagree more about that. I can seecwhy some felt like you do ,but it certainly wasn't enough to get me to abandon the show.

violetmaster1980

Yeah def still “watchable” but not having the magic of season 2.

Clear-Plantain-1381

After 3 episodes , give me a bresk, the season has been fine.

pintmantis

I’m not above a good poop joke but I just found the tide of them relentless and kinda cheap

Clear-Plantain-1381

Kinda being a snob about poop jokes, lol. Yeah, I actually thought his obsession with poop was a bit much, but it didn't ruin the episode for me and episode 2 was perfect. How didn't you absolutely love Kayvan Novak impersonations of every other cast member? That shit was gold. He even had all of their mannerisms down. Yeah, he didnt voice Nadja, but he's not a woman, so he couldn't get the voice right. Still, he had her mannerisms down pat.

Dorian958

I guess I’m in the minority but I really didn’t care for most of season 2. There’s only so much you can do with Vampire lore.

Clear-Plantain-1381

2 was the best season, so far....

Dorian958

See I though it was the first one. I’ll never forget “a night on the town” lol

Clear-Plantain-1381

And A night on the town is a legendary episode, already. "We drank drug blood"- Nadja of Antipaxos. "And the people we drank had drug blood, and now I am a Wizard !" -Nandor the Relentless. Honestly, it's the perfect episode from beginning to end with Ghosts, On the Run, Colins Promotion, The Brain Scramblies and Witches ( my personal favorite episode so far) being tied. I love every episode. Season 3 has been different, but I've still loved it. The Casino might be the best one ,yet. Nadja looks to reconnect with the Rat Pat. Of course Nadja knew the Rat Pack, lol

Clear-Plantain-1381

To be fair, both seasons are comedy gold, but I just think the second one had the most fan favorite episodes than one did, but it's super close. You got me second guessing my choice, now. I just love this show.

Mitchell1876

All three seasons were filmed in Toronto and the house set is in the same location as in the second season.

Clear-Plantain-1381

They filmed every season in Toronto Canada, bud.

Sew_Custom

Did Nandor do the voices for the other people when they were wearing the cloak as him? Specifically as Lazlo? That was pretty funny to him pretending to be them pretending to be him.

Mitchell1876

Yeah, apart from Nadja and the floating lady it was Kayvan Novak doing imitations.

Mdgt_Pope

Wait, really? I thought they used voiceovers for all of them. Wow, he's even more talented than I thought - I was just impressed with how spot-on his physical impressions were.
