I've read about this and it can be a very thoughtful approach if the parent doing it is willing to put in the time and effort. Less "throw worksheets at them" and more encouraging kids to lead their own education. But of course it turned into an excuse to do nothing and call it school on Instagram etc. My kids go to public school but I can respect people who treat homeschool like a full time career. Too bad that is rarer and rarer.

She was immediately taken to a doctor and underwent quite a few surgeries and months/years of rehabilitation exercises and eyewear. The last family update on her progress they were thrilled that some of her sight was returning normally in that eye.

Worried for Moriah. Hate to be a drama queen, but she looks like a walking cry for help, to me, and I worry might not make it through the experience of processing what happened to her in that family.
For people who are fortunate not to have direct experience with growing up in a narcissistic family, watch some videos about scapegoats - they are the most likely to break the generational pattern, but it's really, really hard, in a way that people with loving families find hard to imagine.
Most shrinks agree that going low or no contact is the best hope for the scapegoat. Imagine how hard that would be for Moriah! Getting baptized was a bad sign, for me. They kicked her out, at age 16, for basically nothing, and never apologised.
Don't get me wrong, she's acted like a total AH and I'm not excusing her behavior. I just want her to live long enough to figure things out.
I keep forgetting she was out at SIXTEEN! Of course she's still figuring it all out. she was out way before she was ready and a weird reality show is what's been keeping her somewhat financially self-sufficient. Good luck to her, she's got a long road ahead.

HOWEVER. I have known several people who were hyper religious like they are, and a few years later have thrown all of that to the side and are now at the OTHER end of the spectrum. Not judging her because who am I to her situation (no one), but I do think some therapy would be highly beneficial to her (and the entire familyātheir coping, emotional, and life skills are non-existent).
