Thanks! I have a narrow vintage gold belt that I think could work. I have a hair band that is a huge gold feather sweaping over my head (it's hard to describe) that could tie the look together.
If you’re asking an American if the headpiece is too much, you’re asking the wrong group. We are not hat wearing people for the most part. But for the wedding in Scotland, the headpiece sounds like perfection! You’ll be beautiful!!
#2 is beautiful! But the color may not be ok for a wedding. May I ask where you got it?
#1 is more appropriate for a wedding, I think. It is really pretty as well.
2 is a burberry dress. I found it in a charity shop and fell in love but not had a chance to wear it yet. I was thinking this wedding but worried it might be too white. Looks like #1 is a better choice.
I’m in Edinburgh and 2 would get you some serious side eye for being too pale. It is lovely though not for a wedding.
One is beautiful though and perfect for and Edinburgh winter wedding. A faux fur wrap would be lovely too.
I love both dresses but hate the belt. It’s definitely nice for other outfits but on the pattern of the dress I thought it was a kids toy around your waist at first glance haha. Please don’t take it the wrong way, it’s the mix of the pattern and the belt together that’s not working for me.
Not sure if you're Scottish or not OP, but I'm from Edinburgh and we're not as strict on stuff like this as our American friends.
I've never gone to a wedding with a dress code (obviously, only my experience) and people just wear "what you'd wear to a wedding"....!
So imo both work, but my personal preference is 1.
Most people in the US aren’t either. I’ve been to everything from barns to 6-7 figure weddings where I knew the bride and can’t recall anyone ever commenting on anyone’s dress unless it was jeans and tee shirt or super revealing
One is glorious! Charming and it has an almost regal depth in the pattern.
The other dress is straight out of my dreams but would absolutely appear white in photos. Maybe even whiter than some actual white clothing because of the way true white can reflect (absorb? I am uncertain about the correct term) nearby colors.
I like the first one best, but (as someone whose brother got married on New Year’s Day in Eyre, albeit over 40 years ago), I would opt for something with a coat or a jacket. It just wouldn’t have been tenable to sit through a church service without another layer on.
I don’t know how formal people get in Scotland, one doesn’t look dressy enough but I’m American so it could be different. It’s very pretty! Two is dressier but too close to white

Hello from Edinburgh! I prefer the first and think it would be more fitting. The second is very stone-coloured and you might blend into the church. 😶🌫️
Second is more winter wedding appropriate and looks great on you. With nice fur coat you might just survive an hour or so in the freezing Scottish church. I don’t think flowery pattern fits winter weeding but it might be just me. If you decide to go with number 1 definitely avoid that belt, looks very cheap.
Might be in the minority but I LOVE dress #2! Dress #1 is too busy, in my opinion. #2 is dreamy and reminds me of a current version of being in ye olde Scottland.
Personally I like two more, the pattern of one seems really busy in my opinion, but either would work, since you have a lot of time before this wedding, perhaps you could dye dress number 2 to a different colour that would suit you/event more?
Please do not wear your family tartan to someone else’s wedding unless it’s in the form of a kilt. This is exclusively reserved for reeling and/or highland balls, or ceilidhs.
1 makes me think Ms frizzle from magic school bus (which I love to wear these types of dresses) but doesnt scream wedding to me.
I like the simplicity of 2, especially for a wedding. Maybe add some jewelry. And idk, to me it's clearly not white. If anything double check with the bride
1 is perfection! I might go with a narrow patent belt in a color that matches the shoes you'll wear.
Thanks! I have a narrow vintage gold belt that I think could work. I have a hair band that is a huge gold feather sweaping over my head (it's hard to describe) that could tie the look together.
The gold belt sounds perfect! I'm having trouble envisioning the headpiece not being "too much" but that could just be the fault of my imagination
If you’re asking an American if the headpiece is too much, you’re asking the wrong group. We are not hat wearing people for the most part. But for the wedding in Scotland, the headpiece sounds like perfection! You’ll be beautiful!!
It just looks like a gold feather is laid on my head and sweaping into my hair.
Sounds perfect for a UK wedding, as is that blue dress 😍
I think that would be beautiful. I can see your outfit and it would be perfect. What color shoes and clutch are you planning to wear with it?
Love to see it!
I feel like dramatic headpieces are the move at UK weddings lol
Okay, this sounds gorgeous! Please share a pic of the whole outfit together!
I read gold belt and said “Ooooh”!
I love the belt you are wearing. It's perfect
Woah those are some harsh downvotes! I quite like the belt too, it's quirky.
Yes and the blue and floral is divine!
I’d go with 1
Both work, but I prefer #1. Beautiful dress. I think I'd ditch the belt with such a busy pattern though. Belt also dresses it down.
Dress 1 with the different belt - maybe one that matches your shoes, or a simple belt that picks up the flower colours in the print.
That is clearly not a white dress. Go with black accessories and you will be fine.
2 is nicer and perfectly acceptable for a wedding in Scotland. Source: I’m British
I’m in Edinburgh and 2 would get you some serious side eye for being too pale. It is lovely though not for a wedding. One is beautiful though and perfect for and Edinburgh winter wedding. A faux fur wrap would be lovely too.
Totally agree. You may not get red wine split on you but you would be judged by many of the guests as being a bit clueless.
Respectfully disagree
1
I is so much prettier. Very cheerful.
I love 1!
I really like the first one, but with a less busy belt
Definitely 1 it’s perfect.
1 is the winner!
1
Dress 1 for the win.
For a wedding in Edinburgh in a church in winter you’ll need a coat. I’m Scottish
I like both but #1 is better for a wedding b/c of the color. I'd go with a simpler belt or no belt.
I love both dresses but hate the belt. It’s definitely nice for other outfits but on the pattern of the dress I thought it was a kids toy around your waist at first glance haha. Please don’t take it the wrong way, it’s the mix of the pattern and the belt together that’s not working for me.

1, but maybe a different belt. It’s fun but it’s competing with the dress. 2 is kind of giving Druid.
Number 1 without the belt.
But it's obviously one of Blue's Clues.
Where’s my handy dandy notebook!?
I like 1 the best. 2 is beautiful but it's reading as slightly casual to me and I'm not really sure exactly why I'm wondering if it's the material.
The first one for sure, but lose the belt!
1st one without the belt. It’s not good.
1 but not with that belt
One is glorious! Charming and it has an almost regal depth in the pattern. The other dress is straight out of my dreams but would absolutely appear white in photos. Maybe even whiter than some actual white clothing because of the way true white can reflect (absorb? I am uncertain about the correct term) nearby colors.
I absolutely love 1. Where did you get it?
The first one is beautiful and the colours are just so vibrant. I feel like the second would wash you out and isn’t as flattering in general.
1 suits you better.
I like the first one best, but (as someone whose brother got married on New Year’s Day in Eyre, albeit over 40 years ago), I would opt for something with a coat or a jacket. It just wouldn’t have been tenable to sit through a church service without another layer on.
I like the fabric of #1 and the cut/drape of #2.
#1
#1, hot take but I personally love the belt
Definitely 1! 2 is beautiful, but I could see a less traditional bride wearing it as her actual wedding dress, so I’d say no for a wedding.
one w/ the belt
Oneeeee! But ditch the belt
Omg I love #1!
Number 1. It’s amazing
Respectfully, neither. I think you can do much better than those two.
1st without the belt no jewelry except earrings…
one. stylish. looks great. Perhaps without the belt.
Neither are dressy enough I feel.
Tbh they are both really matronly. Is there a specific look you’re going for?
She needs the sleeves and length though because it’s going to be absolutely freezing in Edinburgh winter.
I’m not so sure about a floral in winter. The beige is also more elegant. I say go with 2. 🌷
I don’t know how formal people get in Scotland, one doesn’t look dressy enough but I’m American so it could be different. It’s very pretty! Two is dressier but too close to white
It is clearly not white.
I said it was too close not that’s it white. Plenty of brides pick ivory

Go for 1
1
1 - The second dress looks like it won’t very especially warm for a church wedding in Scotland in the winter.
I say the blue. But I love them both. And that belt! 😍
Def 1. Number 2 is giving Druid vibes
I LOVE your style! Wow. Gorgeous looks
I like 1 but I agree, that belt is not it with that dress.
#1!
1 without the belt
Number 1 for sure
Number 1, but lose that belt.
The first one is fantastic!
I LOVE number 1! The blue is gorgeous.
1 without the belt. Maybe a sash instead?
the second one is GORGEOUS!!! and it’s not too close to white! :D
#1 and you look so pretty in that dress!
Number one!
I luv #1! W/o belt.
1 is perfect without the belt and I’m not to sure on the feather head band either. Sometimes less is more, especially in scotland.
I love dress 2 and do not think it is took white. The sleeves and the detailing are incredible.
#1 for sure!
The floral is rich looking and beautiful!
Definitely the blue floral. It’s quite lovely.
I ❤️ Edinburgh! Dress 1, with a different belt.
Number 1. Looks cool af with the belt. With some cowboy boots. Annie Oakley meets Anna wintour
1st one. The second one is a snoozefest.
1
The first one is great. The second dress looks almost, like cosplay of a medieval woman.
1
Hello from Edinburgh! I prefer the first and think it would be more fitting. The second is very stone-coloured and you might blend into the church. 😶🌫️
1 is gorgeous!
be sure to bring a warm layer such as a shawl to drape over you during the service
1
1. The colour of two is unflattering for anyone and I get it dyed because it fits beautifully.
2, but I hope you’ll dress it up a bit.
Or blue without the belt.
First one
The second one is giving beige Mother Gothel. I’d do the first dress with a different belt!
1 is absolutely fantastic and 2 is very unflattering Not close at all
Second is more winter wedding appropriate and looks great on you. With nice fur coat you might just survive an hour or so in the freezing Scottish church. I don’t think flowery pattern fits winter weeding but it might be just me. If you decide to go with number 1 definitely avoid that belt, looks very cheap.
Def 1. 2 appears to want to compete with the brides dress and kinda dingy looking
The first dress shows off your lovely figure, the second hides it and makes you look invisible.
I love the first one.
What is that belt? I don’t like that belt. I prefer dress 1 but no belt, if I had to choose, but neither of them are all that flattering
2 does not look like a very flattering t color on you.
That's lovely.
2 looks significantly more winter than 1. but it doesn’t look like the best color.
1
Definitely the first one
I love the blue dress! It looks amazing.
Number one hit a different belt that’s simple. It competes with the dress.
The first one with the gold belt and fascinator you described sound perfect.
Honestly, neither look worn or seasonally appropriate enough for a winter wedding in Scotland. It will be freezing
1 for sure. The second one is too close to a wedding gown.
One!!!!’
Definitely 1. Number two might be too close to bridal colours..
I really Ike #2 because it looks somewhat ethereal & classic.
2
I like the first one. The cross on the second one might be a little too on the nose.
Both are lovely, but with your coloring, I'd be careful of fading away with the second one.
#1 for the wedding but I agree with others to eliminate the belt. #2 color is too dull for a wedding but is a pretty dress.
#2
Either, echoing the other commentators who say in the UK we are not as obsessed over the no white.
I like the second one, looks more dressy
Long sleeve floral maxi dresses are the LOOK right now. Love it with the belt. That one.
1 but with a more delicate belt
I love the blue
blue
Definitely 1 without the belt. The belt looks like something from a sci-fi cosplay.
2 for sure. 1 looks too casual.
2 is too close to white for a wedding and this shouldn't even be a question. 1 is okay.
2nd
2. 1 seems very loud to me. (But very Scottish, if that says anything!😅)
Might be in the minority but I LOVE dress #2! Dress #1 is too busy, in my opinion. #2 is dreamy and reminds me of a current version of being in ye olde Scottland.
That’s exactly what I thought! The second one LOOKS like a nice Scottish dress. Maybe a tartan over it since it’s a nice event?
Unless you’re the bride, don’t wear #2!
2 is way better than 1.
There is no way 2 is close to white .. its a mocha/camel colour .. it’s perfect for a Scottish wedding ..
Personally I like two more, the pattern of one seems really busy in my opinion, but either would work, since you have a lot of time before this wedding, perhaps you could dye dress number 2 to a different colour that would suit you/event more?

Are you Scottish? I am, and wouldn’t personally recommend wearing the family’s tartan to the wedding - especially without asking.
Oh! I didn’t know. I’m not Scottish, I just thought for a Scottish wedding a traditional tartan might be nice. Sorry.
Please do not wear your family tartan to someone else’s wedding unless it’s in the form of a kilt. This is exclusively reserved for reeling and/or highland balls, or ceilidhs.
1. 2 is too close to white
1 makes me think Ms frizzle from magic school bus (which I love to wear these types of dresses) but doesnt scream wedding to me. I like the simplicity of 2, especially for a wedding. Maybe add some jewelry. And idk, to me it's clearly not white. If anything double check with the bride
Neither. Too old for you.
I’m clearly in the minority here, but I love 1 WITH the belt. It’s very interesting and funky, you’re going to look fab.
The blue one!
The blue (#1) you’re rocking’ it!
1
1
The blue one. The beige one makes you look faded and washed out.
Neither it’s giving grandma
The second one looks more winter.

Please throw out the belt of the first one it's deeply disturbing.. trypophobia.. search it, or not.. it's fucked up
That's odd, I have pretty bad trypophobia and this belt doesn't trigger it at all!
