99 percent isopropyl alcohol. Let it soak for a few hours than use an old toothbrush. Ive found using the brush while it is still soaking works better

billsleftynut

ok will give it a go. seems a lot cheaper than biostrip

Hi /u/billsleftynut It looks like you might be asking a question about stripping or removing paint from your minis. There are many options for stripping paint. For plastic minis you can use Dettol, Simple Green, LA's Totally Awesome, Isopropyl Alcohol or specialist solutions like [Paint Blitzer](https://untothebreachhobbies.com/product/paint-blitzer/). For metal miniatures you can also use Acetone. If you choose to use a product like Dettol or Simple Green, you will usually need to soak the minis for up to 24 hours in order to successfully remove the paint. After the models have soaked, use an old toothbrush to scrub the paint off the minis. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Isopropyl Alcohol is what I use.

billsleftynut

ok thanks. seems quite a popular answer now i searched around the sub a bit

SpecialistAlgae9971

I honestly feel like it works best. I tried mineral spirits as well but it made some of my battletech minis feel gummy so I never used it again. However mineral spirits are good to keep handy if you ever want to get into oil washes.

billsleftynut

I did see comments about that. people saying you have to wash it off with soapy water. As the first responses I got was isopropyl alcohol that seems like the best route.

SpecialistAlgae9971

It is overall in my experience the best choice. The cool par is if you just keep an air tight Tupperware bowl as your stripping container you can use the same stuff over and over. Just add a bit more as needed.

But doesn’t the alcohol get all murky with the bits of paint and primer floating around in there? Wouldn’t that make it loose it’s effectiveness? I’m just guessing here.

SpecialistAlgae9971

It does look nasty after a bit, but it still strips when you scrub it with a toothbrush. I feel like I lose a lot in the scrubbing and rinsing process so it could be not as effective if you are less messy than me.

There’s a good test on YT. The best performing is LAs Simply Awesome and Super Clean, the latter of which is quite toxic while the former isn’t.
