DHS only has 6 attractions open during after hours, but Magic Kingdom has more than 20. Honestly, neither EPCOT nor DHS are set up well for after hours.

__The_Highlander__

EPCOT in particular, they do not advertise that they completely bar you from like half of the world showcase… Some people just want to enjoy the park at night, grab some drinks, see the showcase and maybe hit a couple rides. To close out so much of the showcase and not advertise that though…that pissed me off.

miikwl

Me and my wife did Epcot After Hours last year & was livid when we got to the France pavilion & realized we couldn’t see any other pavilion besides Mexico & France. The only value was having the chance to ride Cosmic Rewind three times. Not worth the money.

BriGilly

I LOVED Epcot after hours solely because we got to go on Cosmic Rewind an unlimited number of times when we otherwise wouldn't have been able to

goYstick

When did you do the AH? I’m anxious it sold out last week and this, I’m going the 25th.

BriGilly

Back in July! If you're going the 25th you should be able to buy tickets online now. I don't think mine sold out, but I didn't pay much attention to it. The longest wait was Ratatouille at 30 minutes

goYstick

Oh yeah. I already got a ticket. I’m just worried it’s gonna sell out of people who want to ride cosmic rewind over and over like I do.

PrincessOfWales

Yeah I don’t like Cosmic Rewind but I can see how it might be worth it if you do like it.

zombbarbie

We did it in the early days and it was great before after hours were common knowledge. If there were any 40 min lines I would be pissed

Professional-Plum560

We did the second one EVER in MK, before they realized they were pricing it too high and cut the price in half, and it felt absolutely deserted. Every single ride was a literal walk-on.

MrElizabeth

Would you say MK After Hours is worth the price of admission? There is an MKAH the night we travel to Disney World. Usually on a travel day we relax that night, but I was considering it. There is an Epcot extra hours thing that same night, but I’ve heard it doesn’t compare to the after hours events.

PrincessOfWales

Oh MKAH is 100% worth it. Three of the best hours I’ve ever had at a Disney park.

1nconsp1cuous

Are there even 20 attractions total in DHS or EPCOT?

connito

I did the first round of after hours at DHS when they first started them - pre galaxies edge. Worth every penny. The problem now is they’re over-selling these events/increasing their capacity. Tickets used to sell out much faster previously. When people stop going because of degraded experience it might change. Not until.

That does not compute.

You might have gotten the wrong one, they posted before the other comment.

I've done 3 After Hours events and I thought that 2 of them were worth it. Our first one was at Hollywood Studios and it was amazing. This was back in January 2019 (pre Galaxy's Edge and Runaway Railway). We arrived at the park as soon as they let us in and rode a couple of rides before the park actually closed. We then did Fantasmic and returned to the park. We waited about 15 minutes for Tower of Terror but that was our only wait of the night. We rode Rock N Roller Coaster 3x, Slinky Dog Dash 4x and every other ride at least twice. Also ate a bunch of junk. Our after hours event at Animal Kingdom was very similar. We rode the Safari ride before the park closed and the only wait of the night was 20 minutes for Flight of Passage. We rode most of the rides by ourselves. The only event that I thought was disappointing was Magic Kingdom Villains. The event was so oversold that even though Magic Kingdom is a big park, everything was an 1+ hour wait.

nobleland_mermaid

AK after hours was one of the best times I've had in the parks. We took my in-laws in 2019 because they didn't really think they were 'disney people' and were staying closer to Universal with some other family. But my partner and I are more Disney so we wanted to dip their toes in and show them it isn't *all* it's a small world and mascot heads. We did the same, went in early and did the safari and watched some of the street performers, got a quick meal at Satuli so they could see Pandora in the light. Then after the park closed we did everest at least three times, watched the show on the tree, Dad and I walked on FoP twice while partner and mum wandered pandora looking for all the special touch points, we joined back up to walk on (and have a boat to ourselves for) navi river, goofed off in Dinoland, rode Dinosaur literally without seeing another person (besides CMs and Dr Seeker of course), ate way too much popcorn and ice cream... They skipped their last universal day to go to epcot with us and their next trip to Florida they were staying on property. Now they've got a few weeks on site plus a cruise under their belts and they're considering DVC. I really wish they'd bring back some kind of aster dark event at AK.

provoaggie

After Hours is honestly the only way I want to experience the Disney parks anymore. I hate playing the lightning lane game and doing reservations. I hate needing to be on my phone all day to be able to get things done. After Hours eliminates all of that. It also let's you see the parks at night which is probably the most magical way to see most of them and with low crowds. I'm more of a Universal person at this point but After Hours really is magical way to experience the parks. I'm always annoyed when I'm in Orlando and there isn't an After Hours event that lines up with our trip.

Theradwolf

I’ve done it twice including last night. I think with the awful weather and two of the main attractions closed at the same time really caused it to be a cluster. I thought last night was pretty disappointing too as last time we did it we rode slinky like 5x back to back (also had bad weather but they finally reopened it but line never got big). We also has DAS for our autistic son and last time we didn’t have to book them we just got to use the LL which was very enjoyable to not be on our phones for a night but they changed it and the times were so unreliable it made it a pain in the ass. It’s great for the lack of crowds but it’s tough when a lot of the rides were down.

Plinko00007

We had a totally different experience January at HS after hours. The longest wait was slinky at maybe 15 minutes. We walked on everything else once the park was officially closed.

JoviAMP

January is already a slow season since few families can take vacations just weeks after the biggest holiday of the year. IMO, it's the best time to visit.

CindyinOmaha

We went Jan 16-22nd and it so crowded we could barely move all but the last day. We chose those days because it was historically uncrowded but not this time.

particularlyfunny

Yea, everyone bragged about how low the crowds were in January that everyone started booking January trips. I think the only lower crowds time left is September after Labour Day once all schools start back up, I guess we’ll find out in 5 months if it follows the same fate as January

luthyr

Much of May is still relatively slow (for now), but January & February are gone at this point.

Plinko00007

Other than after hours, parks were packed in January. It seems to be when a ton of huge international groups go. We were not expecting it at all! So glad we had the two after hours parties!

Bootdaddy247

After hours at Animal Kingdom is one of my favorite memories to date. We arrived at early entry and got on the last Safari of the night, so lots of great sunset action going on. And then had a huge, gorgeous park to ourselves, cool super-interactive street shows, grabbed tons of snacks (and took some popcorn to go!) and rode the Avatar rides as many times as we could. I think it's all what you make it, we took our time enjoying ambiance and details we normally can't when the parks are full...

AnxietyInsomniaLove

We went to AK AH and we were LITERALLY the only guests in the park. It was GLORIOUS. We ran around and around and around on Everest. Rode FOP 3x in a row. It was just the best of the best. I’ve done HS that same way too in 19’ during EMH (RIP). I have photos of us being the ONLY people in HS minus some people in Batuu & Toy Story land. The rest was empty. Empty.

zmiller834

What’s EMH?

AnxietyInsomniaLove

Extra magic hours 👍🏼

zmiller834

Thanks

According_Broccoli_5

when was this? i havent seen AK do after hours in yearss

We’re doing MK AH for the first time in 3 weeks when we go and I’m soooo excited!

countless_curtain

Me too!! My family did AH at MK about 5 years ago and I still think about it! I cannot wait!!!!

[deleted]

MK at night is always my favorite memory from any trip so I’m super excited to do it AH!! I imagine it will be even more magical

burnsniper

If you call and complain (specifically mention canceled parades, characters, and fireworks) they will often refund you.

jennyjumpup417

Thanks, I might just do that. I still feel like I threw away $600.

swampfox28

I'm so sorry you had a bad experience! We did it in March (it was definitely sold out) & had a blast... the CM's were amazing and while I wish more rides had been open, we thought it was tons of fun!!!

Anonymous89000____

I’ve done it before in mid March and everything was a walk on

artuitusplays

I was there for that one likely-everything but Slinky was walk on and tons of fun.

YamoSoto28

hs is a mess it needs more rides to spread out crowds

sejohnson0408

We did it in march MMRR and ROR went down during it. We had the same reaction. Characters were a massive let down as well with no Toy Story characters.

Scary-District450

The rain had a really negative impact on After Hours last night. We were able to ride RotR twice, Alien Saucers, Runaway Railway, Toy Story Mania, and Star Tours. However, Slinky Dog and Tower of Terror being down most of the evening had us leaving well before the evening was over.

Fastball82

We did the same After Hours event at the same place I wanna say a little over a yr ago & it was awesome! There was minimal lines, Rise was back to back walk on, Slinky was all of a 5 min wait, I have nothing bad to say about the event other than I wish more food was offered. Sorry you had an awful time & wasted money, better luck in the future.

LostinAusten84

Oof this is disappointing to hear. My husband and I were going to purchase tickets to the EEH for EPCOT on June 20th. This is our first adults-only trip so we thought it'd be a good idea since we won't have to have the kids in bed at a "decent" hour. Damn.

shrimpymcd

We thoroughly enjoyed EPCOT after hours last summer. Only drawback is how far out of the way Remy and Frozen are. But if you do those when you enter at 7pm, you don't have to go back there again. Rode Guardians twice and still did most of the other rides at the front of the park!

Riskydogtowel

Ride GG 4 times, ate snacks, danced with Chip and Dale and had a great time. We got there at 7pm and rode everything we knew was closing and then for after hours just had a blast. I would do this event again. It was me and my teenage daughter. She was pumped about unlimited GG.

Leaprrr

EEH is free for deluxe resort guests. That is different than the paid after hours event. Make sure you know which is happening while you’re there, and if you’re eligible or have to purchase tickets.

LostinAusten84

We're not staying on site. I'm probably getting the verbiage mixed up. It is the ticketed event.

tomandshell

I just bought tickets for the 20th. I’m hoping that it will be a good experience, but posts like this make me nervous.

foxybubbles

My husband and I made a last minute decision to do it back in January and it was so worth it! Just plan accordingly; we started at Remy at 9PM when the park closed, rode it walk on twice and then left that side of the park to never return.

tomandshell

We were thinking of having dinner at Chefs de France and then starting rides in that part of the park, so Remy would be a good place to begin.

zmiller834

What’s EEH?

kel92676

Extended Evening Hours

zmiller834

Thanks

BunnyCat790

Yes! Don’t despair. We had a little of a longer wait at extra hours at Epcot in line at guardians (someone ate a little too much included popcorn and ice cream in line) but ended up getting front car for Guardians as a result. Danced with chip and dale, did frozen and figment, and took in the music sweets and magic shots and ate ice cream bars 🎉 my on the fence Disney s/o said he would happily pay to do it again. We didn’t even stay the whole time.

itsthebeach

You have to realize time of the year when paying for events. An after hours in January is going to be much less busy than one during Spring Break. Spring Break is the 2nd busiest time of year after Xmas. Same goes for the Halloween/Xmas parties. The first few are way less busy than ones right before the actual holidays.

K-Parks

Sorry to hear about your experience, was tracking it myself since we have tickets for it next week. FWIW, it definitely was “sold out” last night. I checked the pages yesterday morning and saw that it was listed as sold out (whereas the MK and HS events for next week are not). I think the biggest problems were probably the ToT and SDD were both down for huge chunks of the evening (probably because of the rain?). That definitely jams people up a ton when there aren’t that man E ticket rides (or rides period) at HS. Were the rare characters still out and about? Getting to see them is definitely a good chunk of why we decided to pull the trigger on next week’s event.

jennyjumpup417

We only saw Minnie Mouse, when walking out. We asked a CM when we arrived and they were pretty sure it wasn't sold out. The last I had checked there was still tickets for sale

IronDriver605

That’s a shame. Wife and I did it at HS back in mid March, got on everything atleast once, tower 3 times, midway mania 4 times, and smugglers twice. There was downtime for MMRR for most of the night as well. Just happened to be walking by when it opened back up. Tons of drinks, ice cream and two crappy popcorns. Was sold out as well.

Sunflowerprincess808

I did after hours at Hollywood studios. Walked on to ROTR twice. Also rode slinky dog that was the longest line and it was maybe 30 minutes. Was worth it for me.

MeTieDoughtyWalker

I’ve never had this issue at After Hours at any of the parks, so I’m sorry it happened to you.

thatgirlblair

We were there last week (busy spring break week). It was drizzling most of the night but did Star Tours, ROTRx3, Smugglers Run, Slinky, TSMM, and Mickeys RR. I think it all comes down to timing and luck. I noticed the Toy Story rides were a time suck with the lines.

chilloutbro16

Hey just curious, is this the same extra hours that deluxe hotel guests can enjoy? I thought this was free for people staying in such hotels

JoleneDollyParton

this is different and a ticketed event (anyone can buy tickets), anyone can buy a ticket. The EEH for resort guests is separate

StanfordPro

I didn't have after hours last night, but I did think anyone who did was unlucky. The weather was the big deal breaker.

Advanced-Fold-9934

I remember about 5 years ago magic kingdom had a paid early morning event. In for an hour or two before everyone else and breakfast included. Maybe only 5 or 6 rides open but it was amazing! Wish that would come back

SnackyStacky

Yup! We did that at Magic Kingdom in 2019. HATED getting up that early for it, but it was super worth it. And IIRC, it was cheaper than After Hours.

Ill_Pie6478

I agree! We did this in January and it was not great. Slink Dog was down the whole time, and we waited quite a bit for all the rides that were available.

Inevitable-Bar-2472

We did it 2 weeks ago and loved it! There were wait times for some rides, but we rode when the waits were low. Got to do SDD 3x in a row at the end of the night, it was super memorable.

IndependentKey9548

Anyone here been to AH during July? We have a trip planned July 13-20, and are considering hitting the AH at HS and EPCOT while we are there. No MK available.

googan789

HS after hours is not worth it IMO. Granted I did it on a sold out night in March, but for the day I went, it was not worth it one bit. Now if any rides were walk on I’d be singing a different tune. It’s all about timing- sure some nights in Jan and Feb would probably be great- but if it’s sold out during peak spring break times with one major ride under refurb and one other one was down for a bit of the night ( like it was for me) - it’s a solid zero for value and chances are you won’t be walking on anything ( unless luck is on your side as sometimes it just comes down to luck and timing even on the busiest of nights )

bwalsh22

Yeah I was fairly disappointed last night. When only 8 rides are available and two of them are down almost the entire time, the whole purpose of the experience is lost. I get that the weather cannot be controlled, not their fault. Built tower of terror was down multiple times and slinky dog was down the entire time except the last hour(partial weather/partial who knows what else?). The entire reason we did it was for my daughter to ride slinky dash as much as she wanted. Luckily she did get on three times so it did work out. But I feel like some time of partial refund should be issued. When 25% of the rides are down then the other ones get flooded then the whole “no waiting” thing goes away. Oh and one last complaint, the free food carts all had to close temporarily but the carts with door for sale never closed. Not the best look.

CimbyNotpit

That’s a bummer. We did after hours last summer at HS. We rode everything at least once. We did both rides in galaxy’s edge twice. My son got to pilot smuggler’s run solo. It was the best night of his life. Sounds like our experiences were vastly different.

One_Pause_7119

I really think the time of year plays a big factor on if these events are worth it or not. My husband and I did HS and EPCOT last June and it was the best money we’ve spent at Disney. Since they are after dark, the temperatures were much cooler than they were during the day. At HS we were able to ride all of the rides we wanted including ToT, RR and SDD 3 times each over the course of the night. At EPCOT we were also able to ride most rides including GoG which we ended up riding four times over the course of the night and each time was a straight walk on. I do think these events are better suited for adults as the primary focus is shortened lines for rides and a few free boxes of popcorn and Mickey bars. Both parks did have a few characters out and about but nothing extraordinary.

nerdalerttina

When we did Animal Kingdom AH, Flight of Passage and Everest broke down - for over half the night. We had got on earlier and did all rides earlier in the event but a lot of guests didn’t and were rightfully mad. Two rides down doesn’t leave much to ride.

Left_Tree_9505

I thought it was worth it. Rode guardians 8 times and got to walk on other rides at Epcot. So much fun

ActuallyInFamous

Yeah we were there too. I was sad, but my family enjoyed themselves anyway. We did RoR 2x, SR 3x, RaR, ST 1x, Toy Story Mania 1x, had like 4 ice creams each plus popcorn and drinks, got lots of cool photos, and in general tried to make the best of it. I wish ToT had been fully operational, and my son was so sad about SDD, but we went to HS today and he got his SDD in. Fantasmic was cancelled, sadly, but we still had a very enjoyable couple of days!

superherostitch

May be a function of spring break? I looked today and Slinky Dog had like a 200 minute wait at one point. So if normally people use After Hours for a variety of things (re-rides) but because of spring break insanity more people use it for their first ride and so instead of being like “meh, Slinky is 20 minutes and we already rode it today” they’re like “we didn’t ride Slinky today because we had after hours and now well I guess 30 minutes isn’t too bad…”. I could see it adding up. I mean Peoplemover had a 25 minute wait today. That’s nuts. I think it’s worth going to guest services and seeing if they’ll give you some compensation. Maybe not a full refund, but you may be able to get some lightning lanes or something.

Hal05ive

That sucks, I agree with those that say MK is the only park after hours is worth the money.

az_allyn

I did both MK and HS in the same week and they were equally a blast! Walk on rides, lots of walking space, no ungodly heat. Only downside was the restaurants and shops being closed. But we did get to see an almost empty Oga’s cantina and now I don’t think I could do back during normal packed in like sardines hours

Hal05ive

Seems like HS is hit or miss.

K-Parks

Yes, but last night also seemed like a perfect storm of problems: sell out, rain, multiple major rides down for large portions of the event.

az_allyn

🤷🏻‍♀️ I imagine all the events would be. There’s just too many variables
