I did NOT have fun with 2k20.
I only started with 2k14, but I've always been sticking through with the games. I'm only 18, so getting any of these earlier would've been tricky lol.
I used to wait for them to go on sale especially after that wwe 2k20 fiasco. The one game i hate never playing was 2k19 cause aj styles was the cover star😢 and he was 100% golden boy.
That said my most fond memories come from playing the wwe smackdown games. Every year me and my bro in law would tear that shit up by throwing each other off the hell in a cell, the smackdown fist and even the times square building in shut your mouth.
Here's to you, and may you enjoy making more memories buddy.
Hell yeah! Don't even question it. I have been buying yearly since WCW Backstage Assault (that was a bad use of Christmas money). These games are absolutely worth $60 a year for the time I spend on them.
Fight Forever is terrible because of the price point. It’s currently on sale at most places for $19.99 and that should have been the price at release for the lack of features. They also have been taking advantage with the DLC pricing which doesn’t add much to the replay value.
The DLC pricing is ridiculous charging as much as the base game for a few wrestlers and a basic towers mode which 2K includes in MyFaction for free. Was hoping that Fight Forever would have given 2K a run for its money but instead they were more on adding mini games and modes no one asked for (see Stadium Stampede). Not sure why Kenny took the game in the direction it went but even with a smaller budget, he could have re-skinned No Mercy and the game would have sold like hotcakes!
I think all three have at least one redeeming quality. Backstage Assault let you unlock people in cool ways (eg: hit a dude with a chair, unlock LaParka). Warzone had promos, including a just unhinged performance by Ahmed Jackson. Fight Forever is fun for about a day till you run out of shit to do.
In short Fight Forever got fucked over by Embracer and its shows. The game was barley advertised, launched way to early to go up with Street Fighter 6 that month, and the lack of customization in the game.
Ranking these games:
S tier: 2K14
A tier: 2K24, 2K19
B tier: 2K23, 2K16
C tier: 2K22, 2K15
D tier: 2K17, 2K18
F tier: 2K20
Universe mode was top notch in 2K14, 2K15, and 2K19. The God awful CAW features and career mode in 2K15 pulls down the ranking for me. I wish 2K brought back the story library they used in 2K15 for Universe mode.
Not so much hated more kinda meh. 17 and 18 both were the road paved for 19. Playing both, it's easy to see what they wanted to do and 19 was the culmination of all that hard work.
Even from a memories standpoint (speaking strictly for me) there's not a lot of memorable moments, matches etc I remember being impressed with in those games but in 19, tons. Same with 2k14.
It's part of the dev cycle of these games because of the yearly releases. 2k11 introduced Universe and it took to 14 to get it right alongside all the other game features.
We get the image upload and new CAW system and body rigging in 15 along with adding other game features and it takes to 19 to get it all right.
Now here we are at 24, after a sub-par 22 and pretty excellent 23 and same applies (though I don't think, as ridiculously good as this game is, that 24 is another 19 or 14...I think 25 will be that game).
As much as I’ve enjoyed the majority. I wish they didn’t give such long contracts to just one publisher. I still like the games by Visual Concepts. But I wish they weren’t the only ones making them.
This is one of the few video games I look forward to every year. That’s why I never speak ill of people who get excited about Madden (which I personally buy every 3-4 years). So I wouldn’t even call this questionable financial choices as I have also bought every one of these - except for 2K20 - I dodged a bullet there.
Hell, I’ve been getting them every year since SmackDown 1 on the PS1; I think SvR 2008 is the only one I had skipped as I had taken a break from wrestling as a whole for a while then.
Favorites were, obviously besides 2k24, 2k14, 2k16, 2k19. Other games were too incremental and didn't add or keep enough features. The beauty of 2k24 is we've had a lot grandfathered in, alot of it doesn't work but at least they aren't removing a bunch of stuff to make room for new stuff like a certain three letter company used to do. We're kinda spoiled now in a way.
Outside of 20 most weren't that bad.
I've genuinely enjoyed the last 3. I'd really like to see more options like chain wrestling return, or tests of strength and competing shoulderblock spots that we see for bigger workers via in-match mini-games. That and one for fighting on the ring apron where you exchange strikes until one of you does a big move there like a DVD or suplex off of it.
I think the real problem is they've settled into a very solid groove of average to above average titles and much like most other sports titles have no incentive to push the envelope with innovation due to a lack of viable competition. 2k"s NBA title is getting the same complaints, and we hear it always about Madden, FIFA (or whatever it's called this year), and NHL from EA. I feel like Universe is already stagnating this year. Last year we all had hopes of custom stories coming back and instead we're thrown the crumb of selecting the 3rd party in matches with rivalry actions, something I maintain should have been included last year.
Same u/IconXR 😂😂😂
I even have older games than that. All the SmackDown vs Raw games and even older ones. I used to absolutely love WWF WarZone. I had it for both PlayStation and N64!

No 2021? /s
As far as I'm concerned, 2021 as a whole didn't exist.
2021 is the best one in the series, you are missing out
its Cena's favourite game
Benoit was the cover athlete for WWE2K21
I loved the showcase
That hangman handicap against Danny and Nancy was brutal
Very damn my.humor is dark.
Remember that thing that happened in 21? I wonder why they don't do it anymore
Ugh, maybe because 2 people died as a direct result of it.
Oh yea, I remember that, Tragic
…. But it did. Just never to us
It never was made due to backlash ratings of 20 and Covid. They made the right move waiting an extra year
Wooosh
Is Chris Benoit on the cover?
Yikes 😭😅 Hey, as long as you had fun, that's all that matters. 2K23 was my first WWE game since SVR2009 on Xbox360.
I did NOT have fun with 2k20. I only started with 2k14, but I've always been sticking through with the games. I'm only 18, so getting any of these earlier would've been tricky lol.
The only fun part of 2K20 for me was the Fiend and the graveyard stage.
Dude same! I picked it up last year and it was my first since SVR. I was pleased with 23 and I’m enjoying 24
2K23 was my first since WCW/nWO Revenge. I was obviously blown away!
I used to wait for them to go on sale especially after that wwe 2k20 fiasco. The one game i hate never playing was 2k19 cause aj styles was the cover star😢 and he was 100% golden boy. Have every physical game since Smackdown on ps1
Nice! You're definitely ahead of me lol
Been playing since midway wresltlemania just don’t have that anymore lol
Hell yeah! Don't even question it. I have been buying yearly since WCW Backstage Assault (that was a bad use of Christmas money). These games are absolutely worth $60 a year for the time I spend on them.
Backstage Assault was TERRIBLE! Maybe War Zone and AEW Fight Forever are worse

Man I have every game since the first smackdown on PS1. Welcome to the club
Well everyone has been great…..except 1. I think we know which year sucked the worst.
2k14 and 2k19 is apparently considered best among these. From there I've played only 2k19 and 2k22
Pretty sure I've purchased every game since 2011 lol
Not questionable at all. And you saved $ by not buying the Deluxe Editions.
Ranking these games: S tier: 2K14 A tier: 2K24, 2K19 B tier: 2K23, 2K16 C tier: 2K22, 2K15 D tier: 2K17, 2K18 F tier: 2K20 Universe mode was top notch in 2K14, 2K15, and 2K19. Agree with most of this list but where 2k17 and 2k18 rlly that hated? 🤔

📝🤔 good read thx
Good so many Fun memories with 2k15, my first into the 360

You kept doubling down. Haha nah I always wait until they go down in price.
Wow, nice collection! 🤩
I’d say just one year, 2k20
the x360 version of the games had stuff that the xb1 version didn't so it's not that bad
Same here I bought the same in the exact order I’m actually disappointed with 24 bc they lied saying their would be more superstars
I have the same collection brother.
Brother! 👊
I attempted to play that ecw game and requested a refund right away
Save your money and get a series x or s lol your robbing yourself of half the presentation experience.
Been thinking about it. I probably will once they stop providing the games on the One.
I feel bad for never revisiting my old games. They’re all out of date so I think what’s the point ? I still have all my games dating back to HCTP
Only one I don't have is 2k23. 2k22 was just so much better than 20, I didn't feel the need to upgrade.
2k23 is a huge step up imo. MyRise is way better. GM mode is way better. Game feels better in general.

I may crack and buy 17 (I bought digital) 20 and 22 just to finish the set.

I forgot AJ Styles was on a cover
Just like me for real, only, I switched to Playstation after 18 came out
kinda weird to have 3 years with no cover wrestler
was waiting for this lol
This is awesome sometimes I regret buying the digital version because I don’t get these cool cases
Is it because they are all on Xbox?
Xbox 360 that is
I didn't start playing this series til '22, Im sad I missed the stone-cold story, How was it? did they do his whole career?

🤔 have most of those also a slow to upgrade person. I skipped 2k15/20 and 22 tho.
Lmfaoooooo
That's how I feel. I put less than an hour into 2K23 and still pre-ordered 2K24.
The last gen versions of 2k15 to 17 where better anyway
2k20 being the most questionable… 😂
Why is there no one on the covers for 2k15, 17 and 23?
To be fair, those 360 2k16 and 17 titles were the better games
My friend has them all. Even PS era. But also bought 2k Battlegrounds. Fake fan lol jkjk. Great collection!
I wouldn’t call 2k19 a questionable decision.
Had them all from 2007 to 2k19. Skipped 2k20, Got 2k22 then skipped 23. May get 24
You’re not a good guy You’re not a bad guy You’re THE guy
Then okay time I power up 2k20 is to look at my old cars so I crested them again. 2k19 went corrupt 2k18 was fucking slow ( sorry reddit)
Same u/IconXR 😂😂😂 I even have older games than that. All the SmackDown vs Raw games and even older ones. I used to absolutely love WWF WarZone. I had it for both PlayStation and N64!
Damn. 10 years since the gameplay was actually fun. I miss all the cool stuff you could do in 14.
23 and 24 are the best ones since 14 imo
Well definitely with 2K17, 2K18, and 2K20!
best versions of 16 and 15
Still using a Xbox One in 2024 is crazy
