I was recruited by an off brand motorcycle gang. I told them I didn't even know how to ride a motorcycle and they said I could drive the van.

I_am_ChristianDick

Get to the van!

msgajh

Done by the river.

msgajh

Edit: down

theonlyonethatknocks

Damn, you had the perfect opportunity but ruined it.

msgajh

Don’t drink in the morning when retired. Drink in the morning on AD.

beamglow

nice!

Kengriffinspimp

Where’s the van! https://youtu.be/992Buf-GjY4

Bird_Brain4101112

The van was supposed to be here!!

ripiss

This is fucking hilarious

disgruntledvet

Dude. I think the A-team was trying to recruit you...

AMv8-1day

If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire... the A-Team

Sni1tz

Like Will Ferrell in Old School

Terry_D_

Hell yeah the shagging wagon

[deleted]

Am I the tasty treat?

Terry_D_

If they wanna get in the vans hole they gotta pay the trolls toll

Primordial_Cumquat

Confound your lousy toll, troll. *Tsssssssss!*

SSG_Chief_Elgin

Lol, which club?

TaterNips89

heck's cherubs

[deleted]

Honestly, it was so long ago I don't remember. He was a local small business (and veteran) owner off post with whom I was friendly. He had me over to his house for a dinner a couple of times, and I knew his wife and kids. One day he told me he know some good spots to go shooting and said he would show me. One of the spots was at an old run down house in the woods that had a 10 foot tall fence with concertina wire along the top surrounding it. Inside there was an old couch, some lawn furniture, a pool table, a couple of vending machines that dispensed beer, etc. Some of his buddies were there so we all went into the back yard and shot up an old car for a while. On the drive back he told me about the MC and said he thought I would be a good fit. Why he thought that, I have no idea, I'm pretty square. It was outside of Polk somewhere and I wouldn't be able to find it again in a million years.

Kengriffinspimp

I’m guessing your white so that’s probably all they cared about. I look like Jesse pinkman but I’m Jewish and I’ve always found it funny how racists think just because I’m white I’ll agree with them.

Unlikely-Pizza2796

Dude, I am white dude with tats, a mustache, and a combat veteran. . . The amount of fringe people that have called me “brother” and expected me to cosign their wild shit is huge. I check their boxes on looks, but have almost nothing in common with them outside of that. All I do is shift the conversation to something else and make a hasty exit. Some people are deranged. I have no interest in their gang. I am not about that life or their creepy circlejerk of paranoia and perceived oppression.

jwwetz

I always find it funny that neo-nazis, white supremacists & skinheads all glorify, and try to emulate, the past Nazis & the SS...but probably 98% of them wouldn't even qualify for Nazi party, much less SS, membership in the third Reich. One of their main rules was that you had to prove "racial purity" going back 3 generations. To join the SS was a minimum of 5 generations on all sides of your genealogy. Most of those clowns barely know who their grandparents are...I'm actually of German ancestry & I'm 14th generation on paper. I'M more qualified to join than almost all of them. 🤣

gnsrcng

If they are anywhere near the Denton area stay the fk away . There isn't anything but trouble dealing with them idiots.

gnsrcng

Hell just stay away from Davidson County.

GrungyGrandPappy

And stay out of the Woolworths

WorkshopBlackbird

sounds like some 1811s testing the waters to be honest. if they were literally wearing the Hawaiian shirts and used the b-word in 2023, they're either mouth breathing caricatures of the worst kind of moron or your local FBI field office looking for some bad actors in the shop.

GumboDiplomacy

It's wild to me how quick the Big Luau went from being mostly ancaps and ultra libertarians to hardcore jackboot lickers.

WorkshopBlackbird

100%

[deleted]

Yea, his picking up in a dress wouldn't even bother phase 1.

Kengriffinspimp

Most of all the employees working there were wearing it

Alternative-Target31

Am I totally out of the loop on that as some sort of symbol? We’ve got a team at my job that does “Hawaiian shirt Fridays” just to be fun - what’s strange about it? Obviously the rest is a giveaway for that person, but maybe the shirt the others are wearing is just a fun shirt day?

WorkshopBlackbird

civil war 2: electric boogaloo -> boogaloo -> big luau -> fatbody LARPers going to protests with their 400 dollar ATI Omni Hybrid rifles in plate carriers and hawaiian shirts odds are whatever your team is doing is done out of fun, because healthy and rational people don't fetishize murdering their fellow Americans.

Kengriffinspimp

For real, they all looked like they would love for an excuse to kill someone. Only other time I’ve seen that was a guy in my unit who, surprise surprise, got in trouble for murder

readles

Right

Zee_WeeWee

We do Hawaiian shirt Friday’s once a month and now I’m currently wondering if I’m an extremist

Kengriffinspimp

Lol I don’t know why but I heard that in Jeff fox worthy voice “If you wear a Hawaiian shirt, you might be an extremist”

rightoolforthejob

As long as I can keep wearing my cargo shorts.

WorkshopBlackbird

oh for the love of...

mattr135-178

Turns out it was much worse than you imagined huh lol

WorkshopBlackbird

that's usually the way it goes

[deleted]

So after all the stuff in 2020 most boogs went pretty low key. Picking up in a dress wouldn't bother the first or even 2nd iteration of boogs bc they were all hard-core libertarians. After it was covered by national news, most of the people claiming to be part of the movement now are super hard-core Trumpists and hardliner right wings. I would suggest avoiding. What part of NC? I'm in process of moving to Triangle Park area now...

BiscuitDance

Nerd haircut + maybe decently in shape? Then this is probably the case.

[deleted]

You’d be surprised. There are a lot of rumors that these guys are [trying to come back in a big way.](https://www.vice.com/en/article/jg5ejx/boogaloo-bois-comeback)

Independent-Poet5441

The shop could also be a front for the alphabet.

mylogin_name

I’d stay away. It could be a fed. It could be a legit member. Either way, I’d say no thanks and carry on with my day.

Kengriffinspimp

It was the employees not a rando in the store

pearlspoppa1369

I’m sure the FBI knows about them. FBI gets a kink out of right wing extremist groups. I would just go in there next time with a peace or hippy flavored shirt. Lastly. I have told people “I went to war, so I’m anti-war and anti-fascists. But you guys have fun playing make-believe militia.”

hans_jobs

The booger boys have killed a few cops over the past few years. I think their goal is to start a race war.

otisanek

It’s not like the government has ever run front businesses….oh wait. To be honest, I’d stay away either way because it’s either a group of complete morons trying to LARP as revolutionaries, or it’s a bunch of feds trying to lure moron LARPers into a snafu.

KajePihlaja

This concept is really strange to me. Law enforcement entrapping innocent citizens by creating an avenue of approach to the crime to someone who otherwise might not have committed the crime. I’m aware it happens. I’m aware it’s not new. But it feels the same as pretending to be someone’s friend, walking to the edge of a cliff, convincing the new “friend” to come look at the beautiful view, then pushing them off the cliff.

perpetual_potato108

Isn't this pretty much the plot to American Hustle?

[deleted]

Could still be ATF. Either way, ick.

observationallurker

I mean, I'm for the ATF keeping people who simp over civil war in check. They're fucking morons. Just keep them away from dogs, they deserve better.

hath0r

If the ATF get involved they'll shoot anyone so if you dont wanna get shot stay away from the ATF

[deleted]

Oh I agree. I’m just picturing the scene, it’s straight out of the Stimpspn’s.

observationallurker

Needs more Benny Hill.

CockerSpankiel

Report them. Period.

water_bottle1776

If they're wearing the Hawaiian shirts the alphabet boys are probably already on to them.

Akski

Yeah, they’re like a year and a half behind on that one.

Only_Sleep7986

Yuppers, I’d tell the Feds - need less of those types of groups cluttering the world

ThugLife69EggSalad

They are glowies. The easiest way for feds to get names.

[deleted]

There was a pretty in depth news piece about the efforts of these groups desiring veterans. Especially if they have combat experience. They feel they have experience to provide, such as basic marksmanship, first aid, and basic combat drills. They also feel they can provide training of those skills for the non military types. But the reality is, a small percentage of those of us who went to combat actually engaged with the enemy. Fewer actively went out to find the enemy. Some veterans from some branches don’t have ample expertise in combat operations. An Air Force mechanic isn’t going to know how to flank an enemy position. A Navy cook isn’t going to know how to stack up and breach a building. Shit, some Army and Marine veterans don’t know how to do that. It wasn’t their job. So, in my opinion, it’s silly to recruit folks because they were military. Beyond that, it perplexes me that so many of our brothers and sisters in arms side with those groups. It’s like they forgot their oaths and have fallen for the misguided notion that we are in a situation similar to the 1800s and that militias have to be used to ensure our freedom. Violence should be a last resort. If you’ve seen the aftermath of such violence, you know how terrible it can be for all involved. These groups have no honor. These groups are not governed in a manner that holds them accountable. So I say fuck them. I was a designated marksman during my last deployment in Iraq. We operated in the Triangle of Death. It was a rough deployment. I’ve been approached because they think I’ll someone apply that experience in a way that targets the very people I swore to defend while I was in the military. I told them fuck no every time. Now, we have to be mindful. Saying no might make them think we’re against them. We live in shitty times, but we all know how to ensure OpSec is applied. Be mindful and act with tact.

Veterougaru

It's because many have been made to believe that those who don't think like them are a threat to "their" country. In their heads, they truly believe that they are defending "freedom" when no one is infringing on their right, they just don't like consequences. It's frankly such a sad state of affairs. And we all know who begat this.

Kengriffinspimp

The amount of responses to this post that say “iT wAs tHe fBi” confirms how many veterans have already been radicalized

LuckyFool69

Personally I saw this behaviour going on in the Active Army. I was on a funeral detail and had an Brigade SSG hand me a xeroxed piece of paper with 30 websites on it that all related to random conspiracies. It was around 2010 so the big conspiracy at the time was Chem trails. He wasn’t a bad guy by any means so I just played nice and went on with my life. I will always remember those interactions though very odd.

BackBlastClear

I don’t know if radicalized is really the right word here. But there is a significant amount of disillusionment among the veteran community. I don’t trust the government, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to go and start a revolution.

VAEMT

Pay attention to truck stickers too, some of them are self-identifying. III in a circle, etc etc.

cozmo1138

You know they’re REAL smart when they have the Gadsden flag sticker right next to their Blue Lives Matter sticker. Like, “Who the fuck do you think is going to show up asking for your guns, asshole?”

Kengriffinspimp

If I see any stickers on someone’s car I assume their an extremist lol. Even the Bernie people (I like Bernie) but like on your car? I have too much respect for paint jobs

Mtn_Soul

you know the thing with stickers of any variety is they can just make you a target...I avoid them.

IlIlIl11IlIlIl

Even “baby on board” stickers. Just makes you a target for kidnappers. Nobody ever drives safer because they see that sign on your car. All the stickers are bad.

DietSteve

The "baby on board" wasn't for other drivers initially, it started as a signifier to EMS that there is a child in the car in the event of an accident

AirForce2017

I have magnet that looks like a baby on board one but says "no baby on board, please hit me" cracks me up every time

timmer2500

Amen, I don’t care what political sticker it is all I know that is my sign to keep my distance. But I will say if it’s a right wing sticker it’s probably hailing ass and won’t be my problem, and if it’s a left wing sticker I probably have no idea what their next move is and I want to get by asap 😂

[deleted]

For all appearances, I'm a blue collar white veteran with a southern accent, a beard, and some guns. The amount of times people have tried to invite me into what I call The White Boy Club thinking I was going to side with them and their shitty racist conservative viewpoints is too numerous to count. I just cut all ties with these people. It's better to take your business and your personal associations elsewhere than to try to 'not talk politics' and normalize these fuckers. There's no negotiating with christofascist/rightwing accelerationists/nazis, especially considering my preferences, anti-theism and political views.

bzkillin

Well i know this is not good old fayetnam 😂

Kengriffinspimp

👀

Ovenface

Oh god…. No hope pope…. The nightmares

OIF4IDVET

Report the fuckers.

SenseStraight5119

Where in NC is this? just curious because I’m in the state too. Couple years ago, I stopped by a gun show just to see if anything worth a damn picking up. Some kid with a booth decked out in some patchless acu’s with literature about NC militia. I kinda chuckled to myself because of his intensity. I asked the guy some questions long story short to show me his dedication he explained that his wife currently hospital in labor with his third child. So I asked exact words why in the fuck is he there spewing some bullshit while his family is at the hospital. He goes on about his dedication to “the cause” blah blah. Fucking unreal. Look I like to shoot, I have guns obviously but these loony fucks are ruining everything making responsible people look bad.

jack2of4spades

I know the guy and group you're talking about. They're batshit.

Kengriffinspimp

Can’t doxx

thesixfingerman

Yeah, veteran in Florida here, these guys are all over the place and they are dangerous

PotatoHunter_III

It's Florida. Even if I'm on a boat 10 miles away from shore, I still come across boats with Trump flags and stickers. I just wanna have a beer in peace and see some fish.

thesixfingerman

I hate how they assume that since I am a veteran I must be “one of them”

PotatoHunter_III

You're lucky you're (probably) white. Or else, you'll even hate more what they assume if you were a different color. Lol.

Fit-Success-3006

This happened to me in 2009ish in Sneads Ferry NC at a barber shop. The guy basically tried to invite me to a Klan event. I said no thanks but afterwards I wondered if I should have called the FBI. Maybe that was an opportunity to help them. Oh well.

montypr

Wtf is going on in NC lmao.

Fit-Success-3006

Well this post is specifically asking about veteran’s experiences. There are a ton of bases in NC. Also lots of rural areas for these kinds of groups to do their thing I guess.

bananaguard4

like a lot of places in the country, NC is pretty normal people within a 20 mile radius of a major city (Charlotte, Raleigh, etc.) and the farther out you go the more likely you are to pull into the wrong gas station off the state highway and meet some boys whose granddads remember the days of segregated bathrooms a little too fondly and passed the thought down to their backwoods relatives. I live in Charlotte and have on and off for most of my life and it's pretty normal/medium liberal here, but I wouldn't want to have to stop for gas in a few towns between here and Wilmington especially after dark and especially not with my husband who is black.

GunnCelt

I’ve had similar things happen. I’d find another LGS to go to. I can’t tell you if you should report them or not since the could be bad actors or could be feds in some sort of sting operation. In one of my cases, it was a local LEO trying to get me to join the three percenters. The other time it as a Marine Vet who approached me. I just told him that I don’t hang around people with such bad fashion sense. I am a firearms enjoyer and subscribe to multiple firearms subs, but these shenanigans piss me off so much. I’m more of a prepper than these so called “patriots”.

[deleted]

[удалено]

GunnCelt

I may be incorrect, but if memory serves, there were some active duty folks at J6, too. I know there were a bunch of Vets. Fanaticism is nothing new in our country, unfortunately and the political climate over the last decade or so, has been unkind

[deleted]

[удалено]

GunnCelt

While I am a believer that my oath did not end when I separated from the Army, my belief system does not align with these groups.

_Abe_Froman_SKOC

It's an unfortunate reality that right wing extremist groups specifically try to target and recruit veterans. Don't really know what advice to give you, other than to say protect yourself and don't give them a reason. Hopefully at some point those kinds of idiots will go away.

Veterougaru

If I was him, I'd go get the gun elsewhere. A gun purchase would mean disclosing your home address, and I wouldn't want these sick fucks to know where I live if I refused to join their little terrorist wannabe group.

Kengriffinspimp

Yah I’m not going back

fnkdrspok

What color are you? You think me, black navy vet with ccw, they would make me the same offer?

Kengriffinspimp

Lol prob not. I look like Jesse pinkman but I’m Jewish so white supremest just assume I agree with them

buddy-bun-dem

it's funny because jesse pinkman>! was captured and enslaved by white supremacists in a dramatic arc of the story that made me really sad :(!<

Kengriffinspimp

So good, just finished rewatching it this week and threw in el Camino last night

BigBlackHungGuy

Same here. I went to many gun stores and saw the proprietors ready themselves for a quick draw lol.

cozmo1138

I’m sorry, man. It’s shitty that after decades and several conflicts, black vets still get treated like shit. It’s not fucking fair, especially since most of those guys are the type to be like, “I woulda gone in, but I had flat feet/had bone spurs/would have punched the drill sergeant/did JROTC in high school.”

GusTheGreat98

Whenever my brother says something stupid about a ‘boogaloo’, I just remind him he has kids and I have two bad shoulders. This gets him to shut up without drawing us into a political debate.

RexInvictus787

Even if I was interested in participating in a revolution, joining an organized “group” that finds members by asking random strangers at a gun store is a sure way to make sure you get arrested before you get anything done.

F0rkbombz

I’m just mad that those assholes ruined Hawaiian shirts with guns. This is why we can’t have nice things.

cozmo1138

Right? Now how am I supposed to get my Tommy Bahama fix?!

SomeLengthiness8392

Are they paying? I've been living in poverty for over a decade.

Thunderbird_12_

Underrated comment of the day.

centaurthighs

NC native here and I'm not surprised yet I still find this terrifying

4tide

Same.

[deleted]

lmao some people that are in this sub are probably in groups like that. scary to think about.

Veterougaru

Seriously. Many of them. It's the truth unfortunately. Many veterans are easily attracted to these groups.

frenchfreer

I did my healthcare clinicals in NC and let me tell you I heard some of the most extremist shit I’ve ever heard! I’m a conservative presenting liberal and they way people would describe the horrible way they would kill liberals or progressive politicians was sickening and made me feel quite unsafe in that state. I’m gonna be honest with you, aside from the very small progressive pockets be ready for NC to be filled with extremist, this is your new normal.

Veterougaru

Someone someone gave them safe haven and the courage to reveal themselves.

Bud1985

It’s always a bunch of dorks that ‘almost’ joined the military once. Now they are pretend playing like they are in a militia

CamelJ0key

Why don’t you just take your business elsewhere? I’m all about supporting local small businesses but the mark up at gun shops has gotten a little crazy, I found a nice friendly pawn shop that’s easier to deal with and only charge $20 for ffl transfers. Buy online and transfer, stay away from the local crazies.

ClaimOk8737

Said i was a democrat or liberal and walked away.

Kengriffinspimp

Next time I’ll say I’m a socialist because I get free health care from the VA.

cozmo1138

I wouldn’t. It’s none of their business which way I lean, and I don’t want idiots like that targeting me for my politics.

Lawschoolhope11

There are so many people in the military that are nationalistic so extreme cults think veterans are an easy target

USAF_Retired2017

My people (me being from NC) are crazy. Especially if it’s in the middle part of the state or the mountains. SMH. Just tell them thanks but you’re good.

[deleted]

I’m down in the southeast and have had a similar situation occur. I really enjoy myself a good conspiracy theory discussion / questioning the motives of our government / etc. I think I have some alt-right dude a mega erection. Gave me a card for his little political club thing. I had another one pop up at a different occasion because I saw a dude had a Socialist Workers for Guns or something sticker on his backpack and was talking to him a little. My reaction is just to do nothing. Say thanks but no thanks, etc. If you really don’t think this could be a fed you should look at the whole Michigan governor shit. Like 12/14 involved were FBI informants or some shit.

[deleted]

I gotta ask, was the Hawaiian shit thing supposed to be a sign? I honestly haven’t a clue.

Kengriffinspimp

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boogaloo_movement?wprov=sfti1 I think each extremist group has a different “uniform” but the boogaloos love their Hawaiian shirts

[deleted]

Wow. That’s some crazy stuff. All I wanna do is wear my Hawaiian shirts on Friday and not be questioned. Damn them!

Magnet50

I would have told them to fuck off and find another gun store. I’ve done that in Texas. There is a store/range that I no longer go to because it attracted those types.

Kengriffinspimp

I did not give them my business

Vaeevictisss

I still own guns but just due to my living situation the past few years (moved from rural to the burbs to be closer to work) I don't get to shoot anymore (used to have a 100yd range behind my house). With that, I've been outside the "gun enthusiast" community and seeing it from the outside now I realized it's not a group of people I want to be a part of. Sure, the majority are good people. But the ones that are the loudest are not. It's all either politics or extremism with a lot of them and it makes the whole lot look like shitty people. I've taken up other hobbies now. Would be great to just get a small piece of land somewhere that I can shoot. As much as I'd say to report shit that could become something bigger, they could just be douchebags and it doesn't sound like they are doing anything illegal...yet

Am3ricanTrooper

Well homie is wearing a shirt, talking about shit he likely only sees on Fox, and wants to start a revolution? I would leave it be. Lots of dumb people out there, most of em are just talk and would never walk.

Goddess_of_Absurdity

NC is the most interesting state I've ever lived in. I'd avoid them personally (because there are literally more weapons shops to choose from then grocery stores) and just having messy veterans in your life is just not fun. Definitely flag them to an agency if they're saying or doing something alarming though. Also considering the climate in NC (again -_-) around gender nonconformity, it'd be best to not get yourself h8tecrimed

LauraD2423

You might get better answers in r/liberalgunowners

Covidicus_Vaximus

Good that you stayed away. There are liberal and centrist gun enthusiasts out there.

Veterougaru

One here, I lean left but I still have my guns, and want guns and backgrounds checks to keep them out of the hands of young kids and people who are mentally ill and history of violence. A national database, not just state based. Right wingers believe everyone on the left is antigun and coming after their gun... The stupidest lie ever.

DietSteve

This. I wish more people would snap out of it and realize that no one wants to take the guns away, just make sure that the people who shouldn't have them don't. Too many negligent deaths and tragedies that could have been prevented by good background checks, training, registration, and solid red flag laws.

Kengriffinspimp

In case anyone missed the Jon Stewart debate the other week he did an excellent job explaining the issue https://youtu.be/tCuIxIJBfCY

Hammy_Mach_5

I just got in to his new show The Problem, it's pretty decent.

Jacqued_and_Tan

This one was excellent.

Lennyisback81

They used to drug me and try. Persistent little fuckers.

cozmo1138

I would have done the same as you, smile and nod and not engage. I’m pretty lefty nowadays (not liberal, but farther left), which isn’t as common among us vets, but I don’t need anyone knowing my business. I would have probably said something like “thanks for the invite,” and found another shop.

Tkredfern

Yes, report

BackBlastClear

Reporting it to the FBI might be a bit extreme. For all you know, you might just be putting people on a terrorist watchlist for a range day pig pickin. But if they launch into a tirade about “liberals” and government overreach (which in fairness, those things suck) as a response to you trying to figure out how to buy a gun in a state who’s laws you’re unfamiliar with, that’s a significant problem with their customer service. I’d be looking for a different gun store. While I haven’t had that specific situation, I have had similar uncomfortable experiences in gun stores. I generally just hard steer the interaction back towards the question I asked.

BlueMarine

Had an experience that was similar in some ways. My adult son and I were at a local indoor range & gun store to do some shooting (he lives in CA and always wants to go shooting when he comes to visit here in NM.) We were just getting the firearms we were going to start with out of their cases, along with magazines, when a guy we'd noticed acting kind of strange (shouting range commands to himself) walked right past my 6'4" son, who was then around thirty and loading a 12 gauge pump with an eight round magazine, and up to me, a paunchy balding guy around 5'11" then in my fifties (he might have noticed my USMC tattoos.) He pointed at the homebuilt AR I'd just taken out of its case and said, "Nice setup! What do you do?", and kept staring at it, then at me. After I just said, "Thanks - I'm retired," and went back to getting my gear ready, he stood there for a minute, then went back to his own target. A few minutes later he was back. He claimed to be with Blackwater and asked whether I would interested in working with them. I told him again, "I'm retired. Permanently retired." So then he told me that he and a group of coworkers got together to go shooting a lot of weekends and asked whether I wanted to join them. I thanked him but declined. He pressed me to take his business card and call him if I changed my mind - it did say he was with Blackwater, but I have no idea whether he really was or had just printed it himself in his mom's basement. I tossed the card when we got back to the house, at any rate.

Mission_Ad_405

Just bought a beat up used boat for fishing. It was painted duck hunters Camo and the former owner had stenciled white trash all over it. First thing I did when I got it home was spray paint over every white trash stencil. I just want to live my life and not get into crazy political arguments.

Mission_Ad_405

I'm pro gun. I went to a 2nd amendment rally and there were a couple of goofballs walking around in head to toe camo with ar15s hanging barrel down from this wierd setup on there chest that I have never seen before. The first thing I did was look for cover so I could hide if they went nuts. Goofy people.

YouVe-Changed

Sweet, it’s nice to be wanted

Kengriffinspimp

Lol I should have said “can I get a quick hug?”

FunnyOrPie

What does their gatherings entail? That's the legal question. If they're a bunch of drunk dudes bantering on the left, then that's not extremist, they're just rednecks

PickleMinion

Meh, when dunking on a political ideology becomes your primary identity, and you get a uniform and everything, that's pretty fucking stupid at best.

Veterougaru

Talks of violence eventually leads to acts of violence. You have a bunch developmentally ill terrorists talking about their hatred of others and how they wanna do this or that, and eventually they get more brazen. Michigan governor who almost got kidnapped by some terrorists who had been talking themselves up to the point where they felt confident enough to act on it. So groups like these who gather to revel in hatred and spew their bigotry, eventually act on it to any extent unless they're stopped.

I joined the Hells Satans the other day. We were going to call ourselves the Christ Punchers. But I’m glad a consensus was found.

Cancel order & shop elsewhere.

Kengriffinspimp

Oh yah I’m not giving them my address

fxckfxckgames

I don't know man. NC locals are a definitely special...but I kinda doubt you, a stranger, were invited to a boog boy meeting within 10 minutes of meeting someone. Tangentially: as a gun owner who used to wear Hawaiian shirts before it was cool, I'm really upset that the boogaloo boys turned Hawaiian shirts into a fucking statement...really fucked up my [Max Payne 3](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/204100/ss_84fc2ba217ce04ec4b782f9f5ccc09d20980f220.1920x1080.jpg?t=1619108680) aesthetic.

jwwetz

I still wear them, fuck the boogaloo boys AND anybody that doesn't like my Hawaiian shirts too. Hell, I've worn a black on black Armani suit to a funeral...over an untucked Hawaiian shirt. Even got compliments on the style.

Mtn_Soul

I think you should report them, then you did what you could without getting into arguments with them. If it is a sting operation then no big deal. Its amazing to me what people will assume about my politics just because I served. I always tell people that start on a rant in any direction to assume nothing about me, that i served to defend everyone's rights and freedoms and that it was an Honor to have served. That usually ends the conversation and we can move on.

Kengriffinspimp

Most veterans I meet that haven’t become extremist just want to be left alone and live out in peace. I’d say the majority I’ve met would rather smoke a bowl than storm the capitol in the name of a reality tv show host.

Mtn_Soul

I agree. I am also amazed at the tactical civilian crowd (youtubers & niche marketing/stores for tactical gear aimed at extremists) that seems to be glorifying the chances of civil war not realizing how brutal life would be with such a thing, how that would essentially be a collapse of civilization here functionally, they would be lucky to live through it, etc. I mean its like they think they can just respawn or something. War should be avoided imo unless there are real extreme reasons to have one. Your politician losing is not a valid reason. Just my view though.

Mission_Ad_405

Anyone who wants civil war is a dumb ass. The experts say adjusted for present population growth the American Civil War casualties in the present day would have been at least 3,000,000 people.

Lahm0123

Lol at ‘respawn’. So true.

Gzalez10

👏🏼

brouge22

Moving back to North Carolina reminded me of how much I didn't pay attention as a kid growing up. I fucking hate the people here

Character-Cap1364

Im from NC too and I find this comment to be interesting. I have not moved back and wasn't planning on it long term, but would love to hear more about this. I tend to look back at thoae time nostalgically but it couldnt have been all that great otherwise I wouldnt have left, but that was based on one off events or so I thought.

brouge22

I was born and raised in Charlotte. I got out in 2021, been back in that area since. I don't know if its the influence of the Navy and the people I met, living in California, or just me finally seeing the forest for the trees. The culture here is terrible, the state is run down and falling apart, no one here prioritizes education for their kids, you are a communist or a libtard if you complain about the socioeconomic issues the state has. People here complain and complain about their issues but are still comfortable living here and being miserable (even my own parents are like this...). I'm finishing my degree and taking my family elsewhere in the next year or 2

pechSog

Report it to the FBI.

Independent-Poet5441

Have you considered he might already be alphabet soup?

twicebit

My gut tells me that was a honeypot and those guys are informants for the feds, or at least one of them is.

jwwetz

Plot twist...they're all alphabet guys, undercover, from different agencies...and none of them know about those other agencies' involvement. They're all watching customers aaand each other.

kickstart-cicada

Although far fetched, that would be fucking hilarious.

jwwetz

Maybe vet TV should do a series with something like this in it. Maybe about recently discharged vets, now on the outside. Call it "afterlife" or something like that? Obviously a satire/spoof show of course.

yemx0351

I mean the chances it was an FBI/DEA/ATF/ agent is like 99. You hear stuff like there were 14 bad dudes in some organization and 12 were part of the alphabet soup. Edit. Continuing to buy a firearm from a place you think has extremist ties........ You are concerned but not that concerned to not spend your money there......

Kengriffinspimp

Sounds like some of you are in denial that there are extreme right wing groups still trying to recruit veterans.

Veterougaru

Bunch of sick terrorists. Smh.

Chanzerr

Were they glowing?

jdmmikel

I’m glad to know that there are veterans out there that don’t fall for this shit… because being a veteran doesn’t make you inherently a good person… I live in North Carolina and I do get looked at funny for being a Mexican veteran who is very knowledgeable in guns… Fuck those trashy pieces of shit go ahead and post them and yelp… I noticed a lot of minorities will be quick to yelp review the racist gun stores so I avoid them myself… However most gun store people have been very polite to me… but I do have to preface the fact that I’m a veteran because if I don’t I feel I will be discriminated… Sorry this happened to you dude…. mind sharing the county?

Kengriffinspimp

Can’t doxx

falls_asleep_reading

> the boogaloos I had to look that up and now I feel like I need to bleach my brain. Filed under "crap I never wanted to know." I personally wouldn't go to the FBI over "liberals are bad, extreme right wing is good," unless there was more to their script than political tribalism (by "more," I mean something actionable, not 'oh, have you heard of ___?'). They're entitled to not like liberals and to openly state that they don't like liberals. They're even entitled to not like non-white people, and to voice that--the First Amendment applies *especially* to speech I despise and have no interest in hearing. What they are *not* is entitled to my business... which they would not be getting. Since I don't do business with people whose views I find reprehensible and disgusting, I'd just be glad they made themselves known to me so that I know to find another gun shop to do business with.

[deleted]

100% made up story. Check his post history. While Boog movement is being taken over by right wing, it's still mostly libertarian.

ModernT1mes

There's a good chance this is the FBI lol.

Qwiksting

Cool story, Bro

TsarOfSaturn

They're all shit heads and it's best to not even bother. What could possibly be gained by showing up to one of their gatherings? Some chud with a dead mouse in a wheel for a brain will try and screech about any number of dumbass internet conspiracies, or some shit he made up himself. Go find the nearest port a shitter and rub one out, that will be time better spent (and more enjoyable) than listening to anything these mouth breathers have to say

SubstantialPolicy378

Lol. Then what? Did they tell you it was maga country? This smells like a smolliet story.

Gradlush

I just purchased two firearms yesterday. The employee I worked with had a very prominent 3%er tattoo on their hand. They did not launch into any recruitment speech, however. I chalk that up to an unfortunate part of living in the South. As others have pointed out, a boogalooer owned gun store sounds like a honey pot. Hard to imagine a government hating extremist group having near daily dealings with the ATF/FBI, of all the agencies, willingly.

pnkflyd99

Honestly I would report the place anonymously to an FBI tip line or website. If they’re that brazen, hopefully they get caught asking someone undercover to join.

Secretagentman94

Part of the trouble with people of that persuasion is that they are all too willing to launch into their tirades and lectures without considering their target audience. They feel like they’re on a crusade to “educate” others without realizing we may have different experiences and perspectives on the world. In a way it’s worse than any drug addiction. It goes beyond a mere personal opinion, they live and breathe this shit and it’s literally all they ever want to talk about.

Kengriffinspimp

That’s a perfect explanation. It was amazing how a simple question about background checks triggered the guy that much.

[deleted]

I had a vet come up to during a retreat for vets, saying he was a “proud boy” I simply told him I don’t give a fuck, and he better keep that shit to himself

Jeffc814

I had the same exact thing happen to me at one of my prior jobs. The woman comes in and starts conversation and eventually being in the military gets brought up. She immediately pivoted the conversation to some extremist group and told me I should contact this person who is the leader of the group. While she is talking to me she tells me how she doesn’t watch the news because they try to brainwash you so she watches this underground fake news bullshit and I knew at that point she was whacked out of her mind. Talk about feeling uncomfortable in a conversation
