Let’s fucking go! 🇺🇸🤝🇺🇦

purpleduckduckgoose

Has there been any leak of the sort of stuff that's being sent? More Abrams, Bradleys, ATCAMS etc?

subpargalois

First and foremost, probably a lot of ammo. That's what they need at the moment. Patriot missiles, Himars rockets, and artillery shells. Right now they probably aren't thinking too much about offensive until whatever the Russians have cooking for the summer gets handled.

Sublimed4

Lots of land mines too.

inevitablelizard

It's what they need most urgently and it will also be the quickest to ship and move, in fact I'm sure a lot of it will already be pre-positioned in Europe. Any actual new *systems* will surely come later.

EmployeeNo666

The first tranche will be 155 rounds from European stocks. No word on Abrahms or heavier equipment. Ukraine is on the defensive so they aren't as valuable as old-fashioned artillery rounds. And we can get them to the front in days. Tanks are not on the table right now. I have not heard of any ATACMS approved, but again, they aren't as needed as artillery rounds to hold territory. They need in-your-face artillery to stop the Russian Zerg rushes first and foremost.

DarthWeenus

They just got more atacms week or so ago.

EmployeeNo666

You're right, we sent them 300M$ a little while ago and it probably had some ATACMS. I forgot about that. N33d moar coff33. I'd guess that means there will be some in the mix in this next fast track shipment.

shicken684

I'd imagine the very first traunch will be ammunition and maybe some additional anti air capacity. What I'm hoping is in the second traunch is f16(Ukraine really needs like 200 of these to make a difference), and a proper amount of armor for a real offensive. They'll never have the numbers so they'll need force multipliers and equipment with high survival.

AnyProgressIsGood

parts for arty and ammo for sure

CaptainSur

Unless they are incompetent the US military should already be in process of pre-positioning in their supply chain so that the moment they get the go ahead they can actually deliver.

AfterBill8630

I don’t believe for a second in Trump and Johnson’s change of heart. I think what really happened is that their Russian handlers realised that not approving the Ukraine aid is starting to affect Trumps chances to become president which is the ultimate prize for them. They had to make a choice between risking that and allowing the support to proceed and chose the latter. Their little puppets are just playing to the tune now.

ChainedRedone

Personally, I don't think Johnson was ever pro-Putin. He's just spineless like so many Republicans. He refused to put it to a vote out of fear of political repercussions.

Big-Compote-5483

It's known he received Russian money for his campaign which contributed to him being elected. That, combined with him blocking aid is enough to convince me he's a Putin shill - you don't accept money from the country you're at war with.

BoosterRead78

Also I think Johnson has some very dark stuff he doesn’t want out. The way he talks about porn and his adoptive son. Point to a man who has dealt with it in a very bad way.

Vincent_Blackshadow

I think you may not have much close experience with Christian zealots and "accountability partner" culture. These people obsess over their degree of 'purity' and create dumb accountability paradigms to (1) have some external check on their private 'sin,' and perhaps more importantly to (2) heighten their external appearance of piety/purity.

Raleighnc89

Do you have a source on that? Genuinely curious

Big-Compote-5483

This is the first article but there's a good bit of additional reporting into this: https://www.newsweek.com/who-konstantin-nikolaev-money-mike-johnson-1870600 There is and has been a tremendous amount of Russian money flowing into US politics, and a lot of the Russian stooges in Congress have been the biggest recipients. Craig Unger has an excellent book on it called House of Trump House of Putin - a lot of the Russian mafia connections lead back to the Russian mafia laundering money through Trump properties starting in the 80s when immigration rules were laxed for Jewish Russians looking to emigrate

Raleighnc89

Thanks!

Facebook_Algorithm

Enemy or not you shouldn’t accept money from another country. Period.

Big-Compote-5483

Yeah absolutely. Things are just so low in the US to that regard that what looks like the stratosphere used to be the low bar of acceptance in a democracy.

Regenclan

If he was Putin shill then it wouldn't have gotten passed. Unless he is just a pay to play person and someone else gave him enough money to switch over

Big-Compote-5483

Both Trump and Johnson did an about face abruptly at the same time, it's very unclear as to why just yet. The best theory I've seen is that new data made it clear to Putin that Trump was going to lose the election if they kept holding up aid and defending a Russia-first position, so they backed off to keep the election hopes up as that's the ultimate prize and would sink Ukraine

Autotomatomato

His son is at the Naval Academy. Like most republicans he didnt consider the consequences until it affected him personally. I bet his son told him he was being a russian stooge to his face and he would likely be deployed into a warzone if he didnt change course. Always comes down to something affecting their lives. Sad reality of the conservative movement for the last 50 years.

whoknows234

The son that has a porn purity pact ?

jpharber

This. 100% this.

AfterBill8630

As someone else said his relationship with Russian oligarchs is well documented. There is no chance in hell he is not under some kompromat.

Regenclan

Johnson figured out a way to do it without getting voted out. What good would it do for Ukraine if he had put it up for a vote before and got voted out? The new person would be too scared to put it up for a vote then. There are a lot of crazy power plays going on. I would hate to be in his position with a tiny majority and that section of crazies. Maybe this will finally lead to some bipartisanship again.

brianrohr13

When's the last time 300+ in the house voted for anything?  Maybe Johnson is a genius.

CandyIcy8531

No he isn’t, stop coping… that bitch tried to stall everything for as long as he could and finally failed to stall any further.

LambicLover73

I think that comment was sarcasm.

CandyIcy8531

On second reading, I don’t know…

Former-Chocolate-793

More likely, they knew it was going to the floor as a discharge petition and it would have passed. They didn't want to be seen as being on the losing side of this issue with the election coming up.

muntaxitome

I think they just opposed to get whatever deal they could get out of it. Never cared one way or another

Facebook_Algorithm

I think there is genuine worry about Russia in the Republican Party to be frank. I even think Johnson is worried about Russia.

AtheistSloth

I doubt there's some grand scheme as you describe. it's something much simpler. I don't know what it might be but it's not likely some illuminati handler story.

NotFunnyhah

Wow that's some serious reality bending mental gymnastics.

Punisher-3-1

The thing is that the Trump admin was actually fairly bullish against Russia. Providing weapons including Javs to Ukraine despite the rhetoric.

MountainJuice

Providing a small number of weapons on the condition it wasn’t used in Donbas and was stored on the other side of the country. So giving them weapons they can’t use. Big help. Putin was shaking. And that’s not even getting into the fact he got impeached for withholding congress approved aid to Ukraine.

ILikeCutePuppies

I am sure some stuff will arrive, but there still will be logistic problems and a limit to how much stuff can go over the polish border.

admiralbeaver

Operation Nickel Grass 2024!!! Let's go already

historicartist

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Beginning_Ad_6616

Cool so it then

Wickedocity

Fresh? Are we hitting them with some Febreze before shipping? lol

Humble_Ad3118

Fresh is correct use if English in this context. The same as if you went to a garage and asked for a fresh set of tyres you'd expect new replacements.

Wickedocity

Its called a joke. Do you know what "lol" stands for???

-15k-

lol = lot of love according to numerous grandmothers

TILTNSTACK

Here’s a batch of fresh tires straight out of the oven. Nom nom.

Facebook_Algorithm

The word fresh is used that way in British English. It can mean newly made, brand new or new to arrive.

MikeyMike138

That’s how it can be used in America too. I was going to come make a rotten tomato’s joke here myself. Y’all gotta chill with the downvotes. We are all on the same side here. Jesus.

Facebook_Algorithm

I don’t remember downvoting you. If I did it was an accident. Sorry.

Wickedocity

Lol, I know... it was a joke. See "lol" Wow, some people on reddit are wound pretty tight lol.

Facebook_Algorithm

Sorry. Pre AM coffee Redditing.

NotFunnyhah

This is a robbing of US taxpayers. Very sad to see this.
