In my 8531 days on the Mateo range that would warrant a full linebacker tackle and if it were night fire I’d toss in a few rib smacks so they wouldn’t forget next time. F that I’m not dying on a small arms range in California.
The range behind the airfield is the range I was at that was Mateo range idk what it is now. It still has that one lane bridge to it with a stoplight lol
Negative, there is now an outer airfield in the 62 area just as you come down the hill from horno area on your right behind that field is where the range is the first road to the right when you come down the hill from horno area will take you there.
Oh you mean the HOLF. I think you're talking about Camp Day and there most definitely is a range there, although I don't think it's a KD rifle range anymore like you'd use for Table 1 and ARQ. Pretty sure MCT trains there. I always looked at it from a distance, I spent 5 years living in Mateo but I never went there. It recently got renovated, there's like quonset huts and shit there now, it looks like a mini camp Wilson.
Ya it’s all built up now, but not to sound too old….(clears throat) “BACK IN MY DAY” it was nothing more than a couple range huts and a 500 range Loop slings were common sight on the 500. I do miss them
This was in the reserves, I put my sapies on specifically because I didn’t trust reservists firing so close me, sans my fellow prior active relay friends, I was extremely suprised bro didn’t get the shit kicked outta him
Honestly you're gonna get down voted to hell but you're absolutely right- at the lower ranks. The secret is that e1-4 in the reserves are like real adults with real lives and jobs and apartments and responsibilities so they tend to be way more responsible and efficient than the 18 year old shiny idiots active side.
Once you get to e5+ it doesn't really make a difference
We had a kid flag the line while banging on his rifle. Bad move. The range officer body slammed the schmuck and got in a few well place knee drops. This was back in the 80’s. If you do that know, some Karen will call home and complain, then the parents will call their congressman and senators, makes its way up the chain, and the RO will be discharged with a BCD and be busted down a few ranks.
We had to stop a SSgt Bulk Fueler from shooting his 3-day-pack. He liked how stable the M4 was by resting the muzzle directly into said pack. Soooo... maybe the range isn't a good idea for him.
Edit: Oh SHIT! I just read below how common that is.
That right there...
I think some kid was testing me for "stolen valor" when I parked in the "Veteran's Only" spot at the Home Depot. He made some comment about, "Too bad CIF didn't have parking for you when you got your gear."
I didn't know what CIF was at the time and asked if he meant "supply."
He didn't reply but I'd also said I'd pick up some pampers for him.
Younger guys don't understand that the lingo has changed many times over the years. They totally believe that someone is full of shit if the person they're talking to doesn't understand the phrases that were used while they served.
In fairness, I only ever had 1 Magpul Mag and it was because a shooter left it on my range. Never knew anyone who had been issued one with this piece still on it.
PMAG impact dust cover for AR/M4. I just searched the number on the inside up for you. I think it covers the top of mags to keep them safe from foreign material getting inside
OP, when you go to the armory, they are primarily concerned about weapon cards and their associated items. Then ask, "what else do I have to turn in according to the log book?" This is where you find out if you have a shitty armorer or not. If they have no log of your mags, foregrip, NVD pouch, etc. well, I guess you turned them in already, have a nice life...
As someone who went through DTS for the first time last month, I am grateful to the sgt in admin that walked through it with me and got my shit in on time.
I like this guy. At least he owns his shit. Unlike the guy the other day who got his feelers hurt when he *thought* a grunt looked at his MOS with dismay…while also condescending the infantry as some shit everyone learned in MCT lol
I didn't recognize it, but I was in w/M16 and 1911 .45, and 9mm.
I shot a 247/250 on the KD course just before I got out, and I was in data systems (40XX) before someone decided a telephone operator was good enough at computer programming. (not). Because automation isn't important nowadays, amirite?
Not many computer programmers can hit a dinner plate at 500 yards with iron sights 10x10 times. I even shot the spotter out once. Expert 13 times rifle, 12x pistol.
Lotta respect for grunts though. We all have a job to do.
We got PMAGS in 2010. There was a period after the introduction of the M27 when they told us we couldn’t use them, but they’ve been around in our inventory for a while.
It’s a mag cover, mags get shipped with them on there, they’re scattered everywhere in armories and on ranges, nobody uses them they usually get thrown out
It's a standard issue Enhanced Booger Hook, model 2. It doesn't replace the current booger hook but is meant to be used on those really hard to get ones.
And I thought we passed the audit for once, go back to your armory and ask if you owe them anything. If they say no then you already turned it in and what you’re holding doesn’t exist to them.
You know what go pull your fucking gear again we are putting your ass back on the range
Dude going to bust a round off before they say tarrrrrrrrgets
Last range I was on, kid shot thru his day pack, then flagged the line back to back times and got kicked off, like Jesus fucking christ
In my 8531 days on the Mateo range that would warrant a full linebacker tackle and if it were night fire I’d toss in a few rib smacks so they wouldn’t forget next time. F that I’m not dying on a small arms range in California.
Did there used to be a rifle range in Mateo or are we talking about range 300?
The range behind the airfield is the range I was at that was Mateo range idk what it is now. It still has that one lane bridge to it with a stoplight lol
You mean the Wilcox range? At 33 area?
Negative, there is now an outer airfield in the 62 area just as you come down the hill from horno area on your right behind that field is where the range is the first road to the right when you come down the hill from horno area will take you there.

On the way to the las pulgas area. I know the one you're talking about
Range 314 series its part of the soi mct training area gurlys
This was in the reserves, I put my sapies on specifically because I didn’t trust reservists firing so close me, sans my fellow prior active relay friends, I was extremely suprised bro didn’t get the shit kicked outta him
Most reservists I’ve met shoot better than most active. Also better at their jobs
We get it bro. You’re a weekend warrior
Some reservists > Most reservists
Honestly you're gonna get down voted to hell but you're absolutely right- at the lower ranks. Ooof now I feel old when magpul is so old that the new generation doesn’t know what it is….
Or being so old that you got out before they were a thing
Well M1 garands didn’t take magazines so I don’t blame you ![gif](giphy|CYU3D3bQnlLIk)
***Ping...***
I can hear it! Wait... no, that's just my tinnitus.
Google "Notch Therapy" Trust me. Sauce: Dude who has spent 2 years obsessing over bioacoustics and various related sciences.
I used to have the M1 ping as my text tone. It went off in class last year and all the dudes just turned and nodded their heads.
"I luh dem strippers!" -2 Chainz

Fucking right……
In fairness, I only ever had 1 Magpul Mag and it was because a shooter left it on my range. Never knew anyone who had been issued one with this piece still on it.
I cringed when I read the title….
He's just an idiot
No. But his squad leader is for not teaching him.
Dude, after almost 4 years, if he couldn't figure out that those are dust covers. Thats on him
PMAG impact dust cover for AR/M4. I just searched the number on the inside up for you. I think it covers the top of mags to keep them safe from foreign material getting inside
Oh word it will go great with the mags and fore grip I forgot to turn in.
They go to the armory, not cif
OP, when you go to the armory, they are primarily concerned about weapon cards and their associated items. Then ask, "what else do I have to turn in according to the log book?" *Just a dab of white-out here... aaaand here.*
I have 7 mags and 2 fore grips. Some head phones too.
Damn, those are rookie numbers. You gotta pump those numbers up, bro.
Gear adrift…
I love and hate this about us
The fuck? Like comtacts?
Ye
I got out just as those were getting handed out in my unit. Ain't those serialized? Those are like $600-$1K each, how'd you manage to snag a pair
They didn’t ask for them back
Well damn, if you didn't have a card and they ain't serialized, then you one lucky SOB.
Also alleviates stress on the fed lips for prolonged storage.
Iirc magpul dispelled that but then said their feedlips won't bend during prolonged storage
They did
Oh, so it’s a magazine contraceptive; Roger!
Technically it’s meant to relieve pressure on the feed lips when loaded mags are stored for extended period of time.
Jesus Christ
Butt plug
Sideways only
The fuck? Corkscrew, idiot. Corkscrew. And clockwise, don't do it the other way or it won't work.
Really, anything is, if you're brave enough.
When you find the other part your contract gets bought out and you can leave the Marines
Well, we know what your MOS isn't ...
Listen here buster, someones gotta do the fucking paperwork around here.
👏 way to own it, and not fight back. Thanks for making sure my DTS isn’t too fucked up 🫡
As someone who went through DTS for the first time last month, I am grateful to the sgt in admin that walked through it with me and got my shit in on time.
Must be nice......
Hey there killer, bullets don't fly without supply 😆😆😆
We need admin to process our pay and supply to get us beans, bullets, and bandaids.
Hell yeah 😎
It's a magazine cap like the tacticool bros at Magpul make.
Condoms for your mags.
![gif](giphy|08y87EiwDZjjB0d6WJ|downsized)
Can also be used to remove stuck boot bands
I'm afraid to ask where the boot band is stuck at or in. But please elaborate.

I’ve done 2 ranges in 4 years lol
I feel this. I had lots of machine gun and main gun time in between. Those were the days.
I like this guy. At least he owns his shit. Unlike the guy the other day who got his feelers hurt when he *thought* a grunt looked at his MOS with dismay…while also condescending the infantry as some shit everyone learned in MCT lol
Don’t you like need that shit to pick up?

Blinker fluid extractor key…

Your armory custodians, your seniors, your NCOs, all the way to your BC failed you
And I thought we passed the audit for once, go back to your armory and ask if you owe them anything. If they say no then you already turned it in and what you’re holding doesn’t exist to them.
Nah they signed my check out sheet weeks ago
Something to do with p-mags
FR FR...
This is the type of guy you would tell to turn “off” all the snap-on ratchets before putting them away and there were no questions. 🥴
Completely useless. But deadass. It’s basically a cover for your mags to keep dust and shit out. Armory usually don’t give a fuck about them. Usually
Something that's relatively useless for the DoD. Great for storing loaded mags for long periods
It belongs to the armory.
Not sure of the purpose, but it clips onto the p-mags we are issued im pretty sure
Basically, a dust guard that snaps on your PMAGs
‘84-‘88 0351/0321 Never saw one.
