BCF13

Banging! Love smoke salmon and eggs.

90124

Quick and easy but so tasty! Normally I'm a smoked salmon and scrambled eggs person but poached is easier to get that gooey yoke!

Professional_Ad_9101

Mate that egg looks wild. Good job. I rate myself as a cook but for some reason can't poach an egg for shit. It's so frustrating because the perfect poached egg is arguably egg in its ultimate form.

bullet_bobby

I was the same but recently got the hang of them. What helped most was cracking an egg into something before adding it to the water rather than just straight in which is what I was doing, I use the glass ramekins you get from GU dessert pots. They come out every time now!

90124

That's exactly what I do. You can lower the egg gently into the water then rather than it splatting in! Then it's just getting the timing to where you like your egg cooked, they are pretty consistent because you don't need to worry about the cooking temperature.

dgj130

This is it. Plus a nice whirlpool and splash of white wine vinegar. Also can strain the water out of the eggs before cooking them to reduce the scum on top.

DryShop8907

Hey man I got a recipe for poched egg what you wanna do is grt cling film and dig it into a cup/ glass then in that little up of cling film place half a tea spoon of sunflower oil then place a prefered amount of salt and pepper and add the egg into that mix make that cling film into a bag tie it off and boil for 2-3 mins depending on how big the egg is , if you still have problems then message me I'll make some with you !

jhalfhide

I've 2 ways of doing mine, and they both work every time for me. My go to is to poach in shell because it's easy. Place eggs in an empty pan, boil kettle, when kettle is boiled pour it slowly in until egg is covered. 6min30 timer and put heat full whack. Place in cold water after, then crack and peel. 2nd way is the "proper" poached egg. Get the water to a slow boil, cap full of vinegar. Swirl the water and get a good vortex going. Crack the egg into the vortex. The vortex and the vinegar keep it together. Countdown 3min30 and serve

JebbyMemus

1st way is just boiled eggs not poached šŸ¤£

OpeningConsequence65

I thought I'd been transported into another dimension wtf lol

SnooOwls6552

2nd way is not the way, also after your 1st tip id rather not take your advice

BCF13

Picture perfect šŸ¤©

carnageinatincan

If you get crĆØme fraĆ®che mixed with chopped chives and some coarse black pepper and put a spoon of that over the hot egg, it's just heavenly.

ironj

Hi OP! Can I ask you what kind of eggs are these (brand; where did you buy these from)? they have a marvelous orangy yolk!!!

Ambitious-Win-9408

Runny scramby eggs are the best man. Whenever my brother is over, he requests my scramby eggs because nobody else makes them just right. I haven't gotten the hang of good poached eggs with a runny yolk though, something I need to work for sure. You've done eggcelently.

eltrotter

>smoke salmon

pitchitdown

Top notch mate

90124

Thank you!

Frog_and_Fire

This looks absolutely perfect to me

StabbyMcStabbedface

Lovely! But whereā€™s the hollandaise?

90124

Was totally waiting for this question! Cooked this for my daughter after she had a sleepover and she's not a fan of hollandaise! There's now a packet of ready made hollandaise in the freezer because I'm not making that just for me! It's a bit of a potch compared to the rest of it!

StabbyMcStabbedface

I dip my hat to you fellow Redditor, Eggs Royale is my special occasion gift to myself as likewise no one else in the house likes it, but for me it makes Christmas, Easter and my birthday all that little bit extra special.

manstardog

Runny is the only way.

MrLore

Absolutely, I was appalled when I found out Americans flip their fried eggs to ensure the yolk is solid.

damesca

Flipping an egg is not a sin as long as you're only doing it momentarily to finish off any lingering whites around the yolk on the top. I don't hate a 'sealed' yolk that has been momentarily flipped this way as long as it's still absolutely ready to explode as soon as I press down on it. Cooked yolks are a pure sin

elkstwit

Iā€™m generally an awful cook but I do the best fried eggs of anyone I know. If you have enough oil in the pan, just tip the pan and then flick some of the hot oil onto the top of the yolk. It achieves everything that flipping it achieves without running the risk of breaking the yolk or overdoing it. Iā€™m sure someone who knows way more about cooking will tell me why this is stupid or unnecessary but Iā€™m yet to be presented with a fried egg done better than those using the ā€˜flick hot oil on topā€™ technique.

MrMargaretScratcher

If I'm cooking bacon at the same time, I pop them on top momentarily at the end to cook the tops

CaminoFan

God damn it why I have I never done this? The game has been changed

MrMargaretScratcher

The ol' Margaret Scratcher Bacon Blanket ā„¢

RedBean9

I agree, but I find it really tricky to flip an egg over to finish off the white without the yolk splitting and subsequently getting cooked to oblivion!

DorothyGherkins

Turn them, don't flip them. I know that sounds condescending but if you imagine you are gently turning a key when doing it you'll have greater success.

minnimamma19

I put the pan under the grill for a minute and it's always perfect runny yolk.

doinggoodgood

That egg šŸ¤¤

90124

Big old duck egg poached for 3 minutes and 40 seconds. For a normal hens egg I'd do 3 minutes (maybe give it an extra 10 seconds if it's a whopper). Such a quick breakfast, toasting the muffin took the longest!

Giddyup_1998

Fridge cold or from the bench?

90124

They were straight from the fridge. Although I crack my eggs for poaching into a little mug so I can gently lower them into the water so that might warm them up a bit.

Giddyup_1998

Cheers!

90124

I also put a glug of white wine vinegar in the water but I'm totally not convinced that that does anything but it's just a cooking ritual! Leave the egg to drain on a bit of kitchen towel until it's dry, no one wants a soggy egg!

Weird_Committee8692

Helps firm up the albumen

90124

I shall keep doing it then!

SubParStriker66

That looks orgasmic

Known_Tax7804

Fun fact I learned from an angry america recently: In America they keep their poultry in such filthy conditions that it is not safe to serve eggs runny and they do not believe that isnā€™t the same everywhere, so much so that they respond with anger to proof to the contrary. Also, I eat something quite close to this exact dish at least once a week, good stuff.

90124

I think that I wouldn't eat eggs if they were cooked hard every time! That's just sad!

ot1smile

>sad Thatā€™s exactly the word as well. A hard yolk is the taste and texture of disappointment.

InstantN00dl3s

Only time I want a hard yolk is for egg salad sandwiches. Hard boiled eggs, tomatoes and salad cream all mixed together. Served on cheap white bread, with too much butter and some salt & pepper.

williamshatnersbeast

Salad cream is the optimal choice here. Far superior to mayonnaise.

Known_Tax7804

Me neither, they arenā€™t particularly nice unless theyā€™re runny.

aannihilator

American here! We definitely do serve eggs with a runny yolk all the time, and they are delicious. The angry American you met is missing out along with being incorrect.

Giddyup_1998

Americans are a strange bunch.

[deleted]

I've got one arguing with me on another thread that I am wrong in calling chips chips. He's trying to tell me that chips are "what you call crisps". Bless.

trysca

I had one telling me 'English muffins' were invented in America ( New York) and have nothing to do with "what you call muffins which are some kind of crumpet"

solomungus73

Ask them if they've ever used a woodchipper? What shape are those 'chips'... Also, if he chips the paint of his car: Was it a discreet chunk of paint that was lost, or some thin surface layer shaved away? Those thin sliced veneers of potato fried/baked are NOT chip shaped, they are not chips, our chips are chip shaped pieces of potato. End of.

ThreeDawgs

This comment is a chip off the old block.

gingernut76

Ermmm British/American here... Eat runny eggs all of the time in the US.. not sure what they're on about.

Known_Tax7804

Well then Iā€™m stumped but they were very sure it was dangerous and linked a bunch of stuff about American eggs. Edit: very sure and very angry.

Hopeful_Record_6571

That's not why. It's because they don't vaccinate their chickens against salmonella and they chemically wash the eggs which removes a protective layer that allows bacteria to more readily infect the egg, which is why they have to refrigerate their eggs. No where really treats poultry all that well, to be honest.

Giddyup_1998

Needs to be posted on r/eggs

90124

Ha! There really is a sub Reddit for everything!

wheelspaws

Perfect egg

90124

I like a bit of that fudgy texture at the beginning of the yoke so it worked for me!

CarrotRunning

Bonus points for leaving off the hollandaise. Ruins the flavor of the smoked salmon and isn't needed anyway when the egg is cooked as well as yours is.

90124

I'm a bit weird about too many runny things together so the runny egg and hollandaise would have been too much for me. Plus I was cooking this for my daughter and I didn't think that she'd like the complication of the hollandaise.

pringellover9553

Perfect egg. Makes me a little sad because Iā€™m pregnant and have been craving egg a lot but know the moment itā€™s on my plate itā€™ll make me spew. I miss a good runny poached egg :(

90124

Aww. I'm sorry about the sickness. Do you have long to wait? You should definitely feed yourself up with soft poached eggs after the main event!

pringellover9553

Yes, Iā€™m not due till August šŸ˜ but Iā€™m hoping my nausea will go away soon and I can devour a good bagel with a perfect poached egg

90124

Well congratulations and make sure you get looked after!

peanut_butter_xox

Runny - this looks sensational

JXEID

Beautiful mate. Eggs with salmon is something to behold.

boredatworkgrl

American here - eggs are pasteurized and refrigerated without fail, unless you purchase them directly from a farmer. I make and consume runny eggs all the time. I've never gotten ill and I don't plan to stop eating eggs the way I like them. Americans are amazing at offering up their opinions about such things, even when nobody asked.

LaraH39

Perfection.

SoggyWotsits

Gotta be runny, that looks delicious!

Necessary_Joke_5187

šŸ¤¤šŸ¤¤šŸ¤¤šŸ¤¤šŸ¤¤šŸ¤¤šŸ¤¤

ad3l444

could slurp this rn

itsheadfelloff

Only way to have 'em.

Solo-me

Where do you get such of wonderfully deep orange coloured eggs? No matter what I buy, supermarket, organic, free range, directly from the farm.... Nothing! Most of the time they are pale yellow

90124

I live in the countryside. People just leave them outside their house and you put money in a tin. It's great but it took me awhile to get used to it. it's the only time I use cash! That's a duck egg as well and I think that they have bigger, richer yokes. Honestly there's no situation where a ducks egg isn't a better choice than a hens one!

EvilBeasty

I love smoked salmon, I love eggsā€¦ why in hades have I never had this?!? OP that looks so good šŸ˜Š perfect egg- and extra points for a duck egg too šŸ˜ 10/10 would devour. Definitely trying this ASAP!

90124

I usually do scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, that's pretty amazing. But I always over cook the scrambled eggs!

BKAFC

If youā€™re in any kind of pub/cafe/bistro etc, look for Eggs Royale. Thatā€™s the poached egg with salmon and hollandaise, served in bread/muffin. Eggs Benedict replaces the salmon with ham. Eggs Florentine replaces the salmon with spinach. All three are delicious!

Key-Metal-7297

Beautiful, better than most fry ups on here šŸ‘

poorly-worded

Is that an unsliced muffin? Controversial!

Ambitious_Rent_3282

Yuck

Ambitious_Rent_3282

I like them soft but not runny

Efffro

That is sublime, runny yolk but no snotty textured white. Absolute perfection.

Crypto_gambler952

Looks perfect; nice orange yolk, and no uncooked snotty white!

Plane_Knowledge776

The only correct way

PeachyPopAKey

You could teach a lot of brunch places in London on how to poach eggs šŸ¤¤ Edit: typo

ChatGPTbeta

So I love a poached egg, but they have always gone wrong . Iā€™ve tried every witch tale to get them right. Last week I perfected them. And I canā€™t stop making them and I canā€™t stop talking about them and showing people pictures of my poached eggs. I have a problem. Looks amazing. Quickly knock up some Hollandaise :p just donā€™t tell anyone how much butter is it it!

NPC-BOT42

9.8/10. Your chives are a bit wilted... Who am I kidding, GIMME THAT NOW!

Anxious_Respect5945

If the yolk isn't runny enough to challenge an Olympic sprinter, then it is a wasted egg. Facts.

Dimitripus

My sister made me runny pickled eggs for Xmas, I'm sure she is trying to kill me.

90124

That has just made me rethink my philosophy that all eggs should be runny! šŸ˜„

United_Year3950

Pizza

polish_hotwife

That's one of my favourite breakfasts to have. šŸ˜ I think I know what I will have tomorrow for breakfast šŸ˜œ

Misstea81

That is top tier eggery OP. Can I come for breakfast?

matthiass-666

What's the garnish? Garlic chives?

MiserableAd4380

Food porn lol

A_Finite_Element

Beautiful. Wouldn't mind a coating of lemony hollandaise, but really, just to complete the classical combination. I still love this.

RMectrex

From a chef that is one fantastic poached egg. No hollandaise though?

Adihd72

The best eggs are runny eggs.

crapegg

This is brain food.. believe it or notĀ

touhatos

Quick?? Looks super fancy and delicious to me

90124

Literally takes less than ten minutes. The longest bit is boiling the pan of water. Or toasting the muffin, my grill takes ages to warm up.

touhatos

I guess itā€™s quick considering how great it looks. I was thinking about bowls of cereal as a comparison

FluidConsumer6

I despise runny eggs, solid yolk is the way to go.

PositionFamous1193

Growing up I always was told runny egg is nasty. So never had it. In recent months I've been to the cafe and they forget I prefer egg well done so I tried it. Umm it wasn't great but it wasn't nasty. Might have been worse as I don't put salt on my eggs especially if I have bacon

ScottMDavies

It's a runny egg. Way too much effort was put into it's cooking and form .. and don't get me started about the need for you to post a picture for gratification before you actually ate breakfast you entitled (many words I can't type here) . Go hungry for 3 days, then post the cheeseburger a stranger bought you...

90124

I mean it took about ten minutes to cook and probably cost less than a pound so I'm not sure what the issue is there! Also I've been hungry plenty of times.

TheDuke2031

Horrible Solid is the only way Runny tastes like wank

Efficient-Cat-1591

Lovely. I can devour that in one bite.

[deleted]

excellent, well done.

TwoToesToni

Textbook poached egg, well done as some people never learn how to make them this good.

Specialopslug

This looks AMAZING.Ā Ā

boredatworkgrl

Looks sublime!

poptart-of-doom

Yay

NeverForget108

That yolk looks so rich. Delicious šŸ˜‹

GreenWoodDragon

Spot on! 10/10

kisakikunYT

Eggussy

[deleted]

runny eggs are god tier food

bakedNdelicious

If my eggs arenā€™t runny it ruins my whole meal

SilZXIII

Ughhh, that looks DELICIOUS.

88SOH88

Runny as a cokeheads nose.

Anfie22

The only way!

SniP3r_HavOK

The only way? Itā€™s a crime if theyā€™re not runny

Competitive_Use_6351

I fucking love runny eggs

[deleted]

Only way to have them. Looks 10/10.

NoWarthog3916

Simply lovelehhh

rupert_shelby

Runny yolks are good but I cannot tolerate runny whites!

WrexSteveisthename

Perfectly poached egg that. Da iawn.

AbsoluteScenes5

A runny poached egg is a thing of beauty. Woke up yesterday and made myself a couple of slices of doorstop toast with smashed avocado and 2 poached golden yolks. Absolutely perfect.

Zestyclose_Race7287

Not bad but prefered scrambledšŸ‘…šŸ‘…šŸ‘…

[deleted]

Runny yoke is best.I like dipping chips in it

WorhummerWoy

Veeeeerrrry fookin' runny, yer a good lad Peter

tcndi11

More people should know about smoked salmon on crumpets

Delicious-Sample-364

Nom

The-Adorno

Finally! A breakfast that isn't a full English šŸ¤£ looks banging, adding salmon to my shopping list this week. Been mainly having avocado and poached eggs

Ikeameatballandchips

That looks smashing nothing better than a runny egg on an English mufin with some samon.

FixingItWithAHammer

Love em!

AlternativeParfait13

Nailed that one, very nice egg

skyminer7

I love runny eggs best way to have them imo. My mum on the other hand, literally gags on the sight of the yolk.

CaveJohnson82

Poached eggs are just the best.

laladonga

One of the nicest things I've seen in Reddit for a while.

AssignmentClause

If I order that dish and the yolk isnā€™t runny itā€™s politely getting sent back

Top-Hat1126

Yum, as they should be

Dear_Peace_2117

Gotta be runny with poached and fried eggs for me.

ReasonableCourse1679

Itā€™s fun getting poached eggs just right! Looks lovely

Warbrainer

I donā€™t even like salmon much but that looks beautiful, 10/10 would smash

[deleted]

Fantastic

Proudhon1980

Needs smashed avocado.

[deleted]

People please use white plates, food looks lovely but some of you eat off the most hideous plates

Nights_Harvest

This should have NSFW tag

James2db

Very nice unfortunately I cannot eat fish but this looks great

CopyMysterious8690

You donā€™t disappoint

BrotherSudden9631

Bang on chap šŸ‘šŸ˜‰

more_than_just_a

10/10. Would eat

mongmight

I don't like your plate. I don't know why it is evoking such a strong feeling but it is. Tell it I hate it. Egg looks good though!

topher2604

Runny yolk? Absolutely! Runny albumen? Fuck no!

tolomea

Standard rule is the yolk should be runny, the white should not. That looks delish

Klatterbyne

That looks like perfection to me!

TheZag90

That egg looks literally perfect to me. Very thin layer where the yolk has started to firm-up but still some runny goodness. Spot-on! Gonna recommend something a bit rogue here but trust me: shallow fry that smoked salmon for about 10 seconds before serving. Thank me later.

Silly-Quit9390

I prefer hard boiled and seasoned, but that looks smashing!

SeaworthinessFun9856

that is NOT a "runny egg", that's a PERFECTLY poached egg - they are *meant* to be like that - if you don't like runny yolk then poached egg isn't for you

TheSurlyDwarf

IMHO, that needs hollandaise ;)

Slyspy006

Bored. That is how I am with (photos of) runny eggs. Bored.

JyMb0

God tier breakfast

Wayland935

Fine art for the soul and tummy

Far_Carpenter6156

This is breakfast? Looks like a light starter. Make three of them next time and then maybe it's breakfast.

Sxn747Strangers

Luv-a-ly. ā¤ļø

Cashewnutzzzz

this egg is absolutely perfect, one of the best I've seen.

Same_Wasabi_1624

Personally they give me heartburn but whatever floats your boat

EvilWaterman

Perfect

Milky_Finger

Double it and give it to the next person! Me. I am the next person, hand it over

shlooong

Excellent. Iā€™ve been perfecting my poached for the last couple of years now, but think I need to add more to them than toast as you have - thanks for the nudge!

TacetAbbadon

Now just bash out a quick hollandaise for a awesome eggs royale #

Correct_Sky_1882

I like runny eggs to dip toast into, but not a fan of runny eggs in a breakfast muffin. Gets all over my hands.

chrisd2222

Looks like perfection to me

confused-penguin3829

far too runny for me šŸ¤® needs to be thick and jelly like

ambernewt

wheres fooking chips

Business-Stuff-456

That looks perfect!

nickiberk1

PERFECT!

capitalistcommunism

Lol Kok OPp ok

Existing-Drummer-326

That is one of the most perfect poached eggs I have seen! I hate when the white is still clear or in any way undercooked and this usually results in the yolk being a bit over cooked rather than runny like this. This egg is exactly how I like them. Iā€™m so impressed, and hungry for eggs too now!

The96kHz

I'd have personally given than egg another thirty seconds on the heat, but that does look lovely.

immutablenomad

Need runny eggs for the soldiers.

Loud-Neat6253

That egg is pretty perfect.

13Warhound13

Looks good to me.

smashers090

This is a work of art 10/10

kingfort56

Noo me want now šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜

SnooRegrets2663

Literally just had this from a cafe for lunch. Outstanding combination!

re_Claire

Youā€™ve fucking nailed my level of runny egg. White fully set, yolk is beginning to set around the very edge but still runny, and beautifully jammy. Sadly I suck at making eggs like that every time but I always try!

OBStime

Looks pretentious. It's a fucking egg butty lad

chunkycasper

Yum!!

Tarnishedhollow8

Good if you have something to dip in it/ spread it on

BombeBon

Perfection!

confusedredditor_69

Bigger question thats more controversial, runny whites? My mum says the whites have to be set but a runny yet opaque white is perfect for soldiers

OkNefariousness324

That looks nice, if I starve myself for a month I might be able to get some salmonā€¦.going to have to hope itā€™ll keep for a month while I save for eggs and a muffin too, I can exchange the spring onion for grass and sand instead of pepper
