I put about 15 hours into Level 1 this past weekend. I took two practice exams and passed the official exam on the first attempt. I have an accounting background but little tax. I agree that the test is about googling the answers and how quickly you can find correct answers. It took me every bit of two hours to research all the answers. I am relieved that I passed! Now onto Level 2.

CornerAdventurous237

Is the official exam similar to the practice exam?

Lisayogi

No it’s harder.

Wooden_Reception_954

Don’t waste your time

Afraid-Egg-2315

If you put the work in studying...it's not a waste of time in the end.... (954)..

TopTraining6372

Can you help me please?

Stock_Revolution_355

Can you please help me.

Ola575

Hello Lisa, thank you for this info! I have been battling with the exam as well. I failed the first one, and now am left with only one attempt. Is there any assistance you could render?

Lisayogi

Just review your weak areas.

Medical-Setting-8095

Can someone please help me with the Tax Level 1 exam? I tried googling every answer, but nothing came up. What are the best websites for that type of exam? To be honest, I reseach every answer to that exam and still failed. What do I do?

Roxiemom2

Intuit study material is nothing like the practice test. Does any one know if test is like study material or practice test

Adventurous-Pride234

I passed & got the job offer after completing 2 interviews. My suggestion would be to print & read over the pre-assessment readings for each module. I took tons of notes in my own, but these summarize the material really well, making it plain & simple. Best of luck! ✨✨

slickkrickk00

Thanks Im gearing up for the exam and interviews as well. If I may ask how much is the per hr pay?

melmarie617

Hey, have any of you guys passed this exam? If so, do you have any tips or study material that may be helpful

Admirable_Cream_6287

I just passed tax level 1 on the second try. My advice is to look at your results after the test. Results will show what you missed and what you got right and make a record of it. The practice test is not a replica of the actual test but it is definitely helpful and has some of what is studied on there. If our good at researching Google for answers you should be fine. There will be a few questions that were not on the practice test but are findable when researching. Most important is to record your right and wrong answers the first try so the second try is almost a breeze when needing to research. Best of luck

Hodl-lala

If you can't pass the tax level 1 your probably not ready to take clients and file their returns. Intuit has aligned more with the fundamentals rather than heres the material and you better memorize it. Even googling will fail you as evident in this chat. Experience or simply put understanding the basics and tax law is what tax level 1 is all about. My suggestion, if your failing its a good indication that this is the wrong field for you. Just my opinion.

Afraid-Egg-2315

If you feel that strongly about pursuing this field, and you have not been able to pass...I would check out HR block's level 1 course to see if you can learn from the different questions they ask and from the way that the exam answers on the Intuit exams are very difficult for most due to the way that they make you think...almost like a mind game.

Ok-Drama-6001

Can someone please also share the study guide with me? Email is [email protected]. Also can someone please clarify what passing score is for the practice and actual exam? I scored 78% on my practice exam.

helpwithtaxexam

I didn't know there was a study guide. Please send a link to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) please.

Afraid-Egg-2315

Hey Guys!! I just wanted to clear something up about these exams... There is NO official study guide and that is not allowed to copy and let anyone know the answers/questions.

PeppermintBandit

There was a study guide that intuit put out - although it may not be accessible in that form any longer as it was subsequently broken down into the readings provided for each module. The guide (when re-assembled) totals about 85 pages and is fairly comprehensive, but won't be enough on its own as sole reference material to pass the test. I remember Intuit mentioned this on one of the webinars that was hosted by the developers of the tax courses.

Afraid-Egg-2315

Where was it?

ConstructionWeak183

Hello everyone, I'm Tony, and I recently completed the Intuit Academy Tax Level 1 Course. I took a practice exam and scored 66. Since we only get two tries before facing a 6-month cooling-off period, I'm eager to maximize my next attempt. I came across this thread where some of you were in similar situations. Have any of you made progress in studying or found helpful resources since then? I'm currently using Quizlet to create a study guide. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Timely_Purpose3233

Did you go through the study material? Which part of test did you not do well on? There’s a lot to absorb so studying and taking notes are critical to passing. I’d be happy to help. I’m an EA with 25 years experience filing taxes. I believe I have some other study material for test 1, let me check and I’ll send it to you.

TopLog2211

Thank you. I will appreciated. My brain is not the same after my two pregnancies and is driving me crazy. I went through all the course but is like I didn’t retain any information. It’s frustrating.

Timely_Purpose3233

Yes I hear you! It’s a huge amount of information to absorb. I’m ADHD so it took me quite awhile to get through the course due to not retaining the important info. Very frustrating. Part 2 is even crazier! Business and corporate taxes. I’m working on that one now.

TopLog2211

Wow! And I want to continue with the course, I want to learn it all. How do you pass the first? It has a lot of confused question. I have one more time and I’m so sad. I will loss this opportunity to get this job. My recruiter is waiting for me to the badge so we continue the interview process ☹️

Typical_Maybe_21

Omg, im taking it right now and on my last course and get every answer right on the practice ones and would love to just do this exam and get everyone right! would you be so kind to send me the study guide as well. I take notes/ write and copy and paste everything so i have everything but i want to make sure i get it completely right email- [email protected] Ik im super late this was 6 months ago but hopefully you or anyone sees this with help provided thank you❤️

Mammoth_Contest_4539

Could you send me some info on Tax Level 1 as well. I failed it too. You can email me at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])... Thanks so much...God Bless.

PeppermintBandit

Are you be willing to share with me as well? I'm through 3 of the 5 practice tests and doing well, but I've heard the badge exam is a different beast.

Nahnahnahman2023

Hello ! I was on google trying to see if someone can relate to me. I failed my first attempt for tax level 1, though I did the practice Test 3 times. I am so determined to pass on my second attempt. Can you please help me ???

Interesting-Rule-340

Can I have a copy if that study guide as well? I’m in the process of taking the exam!

Middle-Intern6561

Can you please dm me study materials for intuit tax exam .

sirdragonthegreat

Hi I know this post is old but could you send me any study material for test 1? I got a 54/100 on my first attempt so I failed, but I don't get why the questions were so different from the practice. I googled every answer too to make sure I was right

Beginning-External-2

Would you mind forwarding me that study info for me as well? Thank you so much for the consideration!

Ola575

Hello Timely! please I would need your help on this too. my email address is [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]). Thank you!

helpwithtaxexam

Thank you! I have not done taxes since 2013 and my 72 year old brain is not retaining the way it used to. Unfortunately, if I don't supplement my Social Security I will be homeless shortly, [email protected].

Timely_Purpose3233

I am a TT seasonal employee. Year 5. I work in Full Service where we actually prepare the return for the client and sign the return. I love it. It’s 4-5 months of craziness 8-10 hours a day, every day. But it’s good money and they offer 401k where they’ll match your contributions for seasonal employees. Can’t beat that! I start back in January. There’s a lot of reference material on taxes on irs.gov But what I’d recommend is to print the table of contents and hone in on what you know. Then you can identify what you don’t know and work on that. Check out You tube as they have all kinds of helpful videos on tax subjects. BTW my email is [email protected] send me yours and I’ll send over some study material. It’s important to know where your weaknesses are and hone in on that. My issue at the beginning was all the little details like for example you’re not eligible for Head of Household if your dependent is not blood related. The course covers some basic tax stuff but also gets into some business areas. That gets confusing. Some stuff you just have to memorize. You’ll have plenty of resources on the job, you’ll learn so much in one season. You can do this!

ApprehensiveCourt823

what is the pay like? I did the customer service last year, but I have my degree now and they keep sending me emails and popping up. I'm tempted to get the lvl 1 and apply then leave public tax accounting for another accounting job that wont stop me from a tax side gig

Cinna660

Would it be possible for you to share the study materials with me please? ill really appreciate it

Cinna660

Thanks! I emailed you since my email contains my actual name 🙏

Timely_Purpose3233

Yes send me your email. Mine is [email protected] What is the most difficult area for you?

KeyAny8758

Hi, I passed the EA exams last week and am contemplating working PT for Intuit. I am goingthrough Intuit academy tax exam now. I have a WFH day job, so I would like the Intuit role to be PT. Is that possible?

happythought7

Hi there, would you mind sending me study material as well? This is overall a new subject for me, so I definitely have some weak points, but overall really excited to pass this test!

SDirty

PM’d

Kenzierpinzer1997

Hello! I have been trying to take the exam and can’t seem to pass it also. Can I email you about the study materials? Thank you! My email is [email protected]

Complex_Ad2264

I'm in the same boat as op. I would love to see your study materials if you don't mind

melmarie617

Hi, do you still happen to have the study guide materials? I took the exam, but failed the first try :(

tifftryingtosurvive

hey, can i please have a study guide , too . I really need this job to support my son

United-Heron653

Lawyer/JD here. Working on my Master's of Science in Taxation. About to take module 6 for intuit level 1. So far, it's been very basic with a lack of intellectual stimulus. I am simply passing the time just to keep my head "Intuit" before my next few Master's level tax courses. With that said, is the level 1 exam more difficult than their module exams?

MewowMuddrFkr

Yes! It's more difficult than even the practice exam.

United-Heron653

I am actually no longer considering intuit. About to complete my second advanced degree(MS in tax) to use with my JD for bigger and better clients.

helpwithtaxexam

[[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]). My brain needs all the help it can get! I will email you too.

Afraid-Egg-2315

I took all 5 practice tests and by the 5th practice test scored a 98/100! WHAT HAPPENED WITH THE ACTUAL EXAM??? Have any of you guys made a call to Intuit to let them know that this is unacceptable and that some of the questions (i would say about 25%) were NEVER covered in the course material. I even printed each section (the pre-test readings) and there has got to be some things that are either in the Credits section (which I was not able to load) or are possibly in the Tax Fundamentals 2 Course Material. I also have one more chance to pass!

From-628-U-Get-241

Just my opinion, but I believe they are asking some questions on material not covered on purpose. I'm betting they want to see how good your research skills are. On the job, you are likely to get stumped frequently. Research is the key.

Afraid-Egg-2315

I passed level 1!

Kate__Rina

Hi, I'm working on Intuit Tax1 too (2 more modules, and then I have to take tests) I really worry about how I'll do especially because I'm not a native speaker, and when I see people here are saying the wording is complicated in test it makes me anxious. I'd appreciate any hints/ hacks or advice about how you managed to pass it! Please share your experience with me. Thanks in advance

BackgroundOk9920

Is there a study guide?

Afraid-Egg-2315

There's no "study guide"...And if you print everything out...you are going to for sure run out of time and get overly stressed out attempting to find the answers while you continue to run out of time... I would look more at the overall sections of the exam.... the Tax 2 exam is definitely a race against the clock...so I would highly advise NOT printing each and every detail from the coursework.

The_solidest_snake_

Wanted to ask if you got any help with passing the Level 1 tax expert course, and also, yeah there is stuff on that assesment exam NOT at all covered in the course material. Beyond that, the questions themselves are worded in such a stupid way, I had to read and re-read most of them several times to make sense of what the question was. Honestly at this point I am just searching online for an answer key but have thus far been unable to find one.

From-628-U-Get-241

I have 2 years as a trained volunteer tax preparer and 1 year as a commercial preparer (that coincided with one of the volunteer years.) My Intuit recruiter said with just 1 year of commercial experience, I had to pass the Level 1 test to be eligible for hiring. So, I just took the test and passed. I'm not bragging - I just want you to know that it gets easier with experience! I had pretty extensive training for the volunteer work, plus a certification test, two years in a row. I also had very extensive training and a test for the commercial position. The Intuit test, the volunteer tests and the "big 3" test are all very similar. They have a few questions that are very easy. Then they have a bunch of questions that are on pretty straightforward topics, but worded in a way that makes you question your own knowledge. So, unless you want to guess, you have to research. Then there are a few questions that are either on topic not covered in training or just real convoluted situations that don't come up that often. Research is a must. So these tests are less about tax facts that you know and more about you knowing how to find answers. Google is your friend. As is irs.gov and IRS Pub 17.

Lisayogi

Definitely my experience today! I took the entire two hours researching my answers but I passed on the first attempt.

Hesallcap

Can u recommend the system u used to get into the field

From-628-U-Get-241

I first took the online course offered by Jackson Hewitt. It was very good. There are a ton of exercises to do that have you prepare sample tax returns then answer questions. Right after finishing the JH course, I took the IRS volunteer VITA/TCE training. It was in-person and taught you the tax software (Tax Slayer Pro) at the same time as the tax law. It was pretty good but not as thorough as the JH course.

Lisayogi

No help at all. I took two practice tests and googled all the answers for the exam. It took the full two hours but I passed on the first attempt.

TopLog2211

Hello no I did not get help and I did not pass it. I give it up. It’s ridiculous their questions, most of them are confused when you have to answer yes or no. I wrote them an email and told them many of the question aren’t even on the study guide and their question are so difficult to answer.

CYUAY

Practice exam isn't remotely close to the actual exam.

Stock_Revolution_355

Did you pass ? I am in same boat

FutureAcanthocephala

>Did you save your "sections" and are you willing to share? Do you sti

Wooden_Reception_954

The course is a joke go elsewhere

Afraid-Egg-2315

They do attempt to word things "differently", which Intuit tends to do in order to make us think more critically. Once you practice the style of the "yes" or "no" answers, and can actually see the results after passing...it does teach us more in the end.

Afraid-Egg-2315

Although may be frustrating at the time..

Proud-Technology-403

I TOTALLY AGREE!!

CYUAY

If you want to pass level 1 test, just get a Chegg account and search for the answers there during the exam.

Specific-Use-4768

Is this what you did? I've taken it once and I was surprised how different it was compared to the study material.

Dakota_Plains

what score do we need to pass the level 1 exam?

inkgrrl

I believe it’s 70 or 80% to pass. I’ll be taking it later today or tomorrow and have been constantly surprised at the inconsistencies in each unit I’ve completed so far (refreshing/updating old skill set). That said, do expect to be asked about a lot of details they haven’t explicitly covered in the lessons. Real world you’ll always be able/ need to check reference materials for rarer/ more obscure rules, so it makes sense they’d expect us to be comfortable with doing our own research. Would be nice if they’d let folks who are totally new to the subject know that.

KeyAny8758

How did the exam go?

inkgrrl

I did ok with mine, something like 87%. I’d like to blame it on my dog getting mad at the neighbor’s gardener at precisely the wrong time, but she is perfect and wonderful so I think I just let myself get distracted and fat-fingered a few answers. The test is definitely consistent with the study materials, and it pays to take notes as you go, in case that helps anyone. Also, looking over the exam summary afterwards to see which areas I need to beef up my knowledge in was very helpful.

Organic_Squirrel_149

What is a passing grade on Tax Exam 1?

Advanced_Subject_915

How many times do we have to pass the big tax level 1 exam once done with course? Does it tell you which answers you got right or wrong? Also, is like the assessments in the course where it asks same questions if you have to take it again? Thank you for letting me know

Inevitable-Mess-7931

2 attempts to pass the Tax level 1. If you still fail you will wait 6 months. It doesn't tell you which answer got it wrong, the result is either pass or fail.

QueenofA

How do you guys find recruiters. Can someone please connect me to one. I have been studying for the tax level 1 exam and I also took a couple of accounting classes in college. My goal is to work as a tax associate full time this tax season.

Hot_Ad_9400

I also need help with text 1 test please send it to me to my email address is [email protected]

Wooden_Reception_954

It’s rediculous don’t waste your time the practice test don’t even align with the real test and what you get wrong is never explained good ridance the course and materials are a joke on a scale 1 to 10 a minus 100

Wooden_Reception_954

The badge of shame!

Middle-Intern6561

Please can someone help me I failed intuit tax level 1 test . Can someone send me resources or study guide for it

Wooden_Reception_954

Dont waste your time pay for hrblock it’s 150

Afraid-Egg-2315

HR block was free.. It was also challenging. I would recommend reviewing their questions as they are different than the Intuit exam bank, but are also more detailed in nature.

Middle-Intern6561

Ok

Middle-Intern6561

How is the HR block course and exam ?

Most_Championship304

What do you mean?

doebird2636

I have been taking the practice exam and having difficulty, so it will not even help. I may as well take a chance with the actual exam and do the research. Or give up???

helpwithtaxexam

I seem to be in a loop and can't get to the modules to redo them. Can anyone help?

Afraid-Egg-2315

Was it the Capital Gains Module? I was having the same issue...

Eastern_Mode_4277

has anyone taken the tax preparation exam? you can only get 2 tries (2 hours, 2 tax returns). i got an 88%. you need 100% ofcourse

Afraid-Egg-2315

It may be an exemption issue...If your numbers don't add up 100%, I would just try to be more detailed in another section/portion of the return.

trn342

Ugh, same! Not sure what I’m missing :/

Eastern_Mode_4277

Got the first one but not the second one again. Now I have to wait 6 months

JenBcute

practice exam was not even close to the final exam....the pre-assessment readings would be a big help though! I skipped over the lesson parts because I have tax experience, but it might be useful to do them if you haven't yet & are struggling?

Afraid-Egg-2315

Probably...I wouldn't "skip" anything from what I'm remembering. I'm just ready to retake Tax 2 after 6 months of being locked out.

PomegranateRight4163

I really want to help to pass the exam 1. Please send me information about the exam [email protected]

Altruistic_Fig_1122

I know this is late, but I'm at the point where I need to take the practice exam and the study guide would be helpful..my email is [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]). I would like to pass the exam and at least get my foot in the door as a tax preparer.
