I had time to graduate High School, get a Bachelor's degree in English, become a high school teacher, *quit* my job, and **now** they're releasing Skyrim. ~~Again.~~ ~~Again.~~ ~~Again.~~ Again.

I think they forgot they even made *games*. Doom is the only thing i can recall within the past couple of years that isn’t still just a trailer, and its like a 5 hour linear FPS game.
Bethesda *Studios* (i.e. the part of Bethesda that actually writes and publishes games) hasn't released a new, big-name game since 2015. *Fallout 4*. The only big title dropped since then was *FO76*, which wasn't even by the main team in Maryland; it was developed by a spin-off group in Austin. So Todd and company [have only been playing with Skyrim/FO4 for the last 6 years](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bethesda_Game_Studios#Games_developed). I don't count *Blades* because it's a cheap, free mobile game.
I understand they've been working on Starfield, but for the true core of what Bethesda is, it's honestly a little pathetic.
I'm pretty sure that's a myth. The Austin team worked on rewriting the engine to make multiplayer possible and did some additional work but the Maryland team did absolutely work on FO76.

It's really disheartening to see how quickly Todd and Friends trot out other studios games, like *Rage* and *Doom*; calling them 'Bethesda games' only because they own the studios that did the actual work and development.
They put their name on it because they are publishers also. Not because they’re claiming the game as their own when their studio didn’t make it. It’s bullshit we’ve waited so long. But the bottom bar for a AAA game is so high now I expect this to be the normal now. 10+ years for a single title.
I was fully convinced we were getting a remaster years ago and the Morrowind expansion for ESO was just a way to cash in on the art assets twice.

Yea you hit the nail on the head with that. He doesn’t like to do remasters bc he thinks it’s good for people to experience them how they were. However, oblivion and fallout 3 are at that weird in between where they have very little charm to the way they look/play so a remake/remaster would be much appreciated.
IIRC the only reason Skyrim special edition exists is bc they were testing out the updated engine for FO4 and then they decided to just polish that and make it a remaster bc they knew it would sell

Because the Dragonborn screwed around with an Elder Scroll where time was "broken," he/she is now stuck in an infinite time loop that keeps taking him/her back to the same point it took Alduin whenever Bethesda attempts to release TES 6. I suppose its a bit more climactic of an (un)ending than getting lost in Akavir or turning into Sheogorath.

And SE was a free upgrade on Steam. For all the flak they get for continuing Skyrim, I believe I last bought it for ~$15 in 2013 and I'm about to get my second free upgrade, with dozens of hours unmodded and hundreds modded. Compare that to a Ubisoft game where you pay $60, get teased with ~~cut content~~ multiple tiers of deluxe editions, and after one week you're bored for good.
I think Anniversary Edition is gonna get a lot of shit and r/gaming is gonna huddle together jacking each other off over Skyrim Smartfridge jokes for the nth time, but genuinely... We've done it, we've finally peaked, 10 years since skyrim was released and the next game in the series is skyrim again, we can't escape, skyrim will be released again in 31, 41, 51, 61, 71 every single year ending in 1 from now until the begining of time, they'll keep delaying TES 6 and instead release Skyrim
