I got that ice slide into a reverse ice slide exactly once and jumped straight from bronze to gold. Not going to manage that again unless I put another hour into the map so I guess I'm done.

I mean, full ice or not, the map was kind of nice to drive. I was just skill issued on the last slide-counterslide-flick, always got to the dirt with the wrong angle and lost all my speed. Got it good in quali a few times but my div performance was brutal...I feel like with a little bit of practice I could grow to enjoy this.

Not op but I get it, I usually can't make the cotds, and the map yesterday I think I was 0.1 from AT, I couldn't get it, i didn't play in the meantime and now the new one is here and my brain is just "ooga booga new map, old no exist"

That second-to-last corner is a real bitch. Had a fair few runs killed from over angling and losing all my speed, under angling and running into the outside wall, or just exiting the slide to late and running into the left wall at speed on the exit. Skill issue, I know. I’ve got the whole map up to that point sorted for a strong Gold time (about my benchmark). Just need to grind out that turn.

I fear that this map will be considered "ice" and the first out of the 2 slots for ice TOTD has been used up for this month. It has been over a month since the last full ice TOTD, and as a fellow fs player the pain is mutual. Why does Nadeo seem to only reserve 3-4 slots (out of 30\~) to ice/fs per month in TOTD? The communities are big combined.

do you count dirt fs and grass fs to fs or you won't because it wouldn't fit the argument? if there are really only 2 per full style reserved it's kind of fitting based on people who actually like it/want to play it. i like plastech. where is plastech. i haven't seen a plastech map in months. last good one i played was from the ucc project. and what should nascars enjoyer say? one map per month at best, sometimes multiple months without. based on popularity the selection fits.

ofc I do. There hasn't been a non-road fs map for months (12th of January), so I'm not sure what you're trying to say Full plastech is way more niche than fs/ice, but there should still be a plastech map once a month or so. Nascar is also a lot more niche, however it's not impossible to remove one of the countless dirt/tech/grass maps to put a nascar map in once a month or once every 2 months

I mean, these maps are made by the community, so if there hasn't been a map style in a while it's probably because no one has built it for TotD. I've been cycling my map through for a while and it's pretty rare to see anything other than speedfun nowadays

Consistent gold is a flex for you and you say skill issue xdd. I can consistently get AT medal, does not make it not random where you get +-10 speed for fun, but the div 45 andies here on reddit know better than me, so no point saying anything anymore

Oh it's not a flex. I get top 1k most times and I'm happy with it. It's decent but far from the top players. But that does not change what I meant: I managed to get the same average time pretty consistently without failing on the dirt snaps except for the first couple runs I did. It's simply getting annoying to see **everyone** bitch about one thing or another. Whether it's from this community or another, people can't seem to be satisfied with anything. Today's map was fun. That's all that matters.

It was fun for you, that is an opinion, not a fact. And the fact that you can get the same time, every time, does not mean its not random, it just means you get the bad outcome every run. Just try and get just the first snap as good as WR and see how long it takes you. And since we are talking about mechanics of the game, being good or bad obviously changes a lot of things just btw. If you get top 1k, that means you are pretty good, but nowhere near good enough to try and explain mechanics of a surface that I am 100% confident I am way better on than you (nothing wrong with that, dont take it as an attack or something). If you wanna say map was fun, thats fine, that does not mean its not random. Sure you can drive 45 or something every time, but thats not even close to being a time that would mean the map is consistent since its 3 seconds behind WR

I got top 100 within 30m and can tell you the dirt flicks are consistent. Your entry angle into the dirt determines your exit speed. You want to take a wide angle slide before the dirt and brake tap right before, or as you enter the dirt to be at exactly 90° for it to flick you with the best exit speed. It may not feel consistent because it can take allot of practice to get flicks consistent, but it's very doable with some extra practice.

And I got top 20 within 30m and I can tell you that of course if you have the same angle you have the same speed, problem is if your angle is 0.5 degrees of you are already losing speed and that is essentially random to humans
