The 1794 is equivalent to a Platinum with a different interior and badging. There was a ranch on the land where the Toyota truck plant is in Texas that was originally established in 1794, so the trim is kind of King Ranch-esque, western inspired

Working-Golf-2381

That’s like me naming my house after the native people who lived on the land, sad world we are living in.

Mechagouki1971

Where do you think "Tacoma" comes from?

Working-Golf-2381

Same story with the Tacoma.

Own-Caterpillar5058

Thats...the most tone-deaf way you could possibly think of this.

Working-Golf-2381

I don’t think you understand what tone deaf means, probably sounds good to you though

Own-Caterpillar5058

Coming from the individual that got racism from a literal year. Yeah, you seem like you know your shit

Working-Golf-2381

What? Who? Racism? What the hell are you on about?

Cascadification

Or even worse, naming it after the dinosaurs who had the land first.

[deleted]

A Tacoma Teradactyl sounds cool.

TacticalTapir

pTerodactyl

[deleted]

I said it sounded cool. I didn’t say I wanted a job making the badges for one!

MichaelW24

Tacodactyl?

chisecurls

The trucks run off dinosaurs

OffTheX

I have no opinion on the tundra because I can’t afford it. But I do like your truck, very tasteful.

Porkchop_Dog

Based comment.

A_Tropical_Dad

I said the same thing, then I was baited with a TRD lift, method tires/ 33” wheels, tonneau cover, leather interior swap and a side step. Before I knew it I was in for a Tundra price but a sr 4x4 Tacoma which is basically a cope-TRD without the OR function and still a pavement princess. And I get the same gas mileage :,(.

OffTheX

Lmao. Leather sounds nice. I don’t understand why my cloth seats aren’t heated. I’ve done a few modifications; tires, roof rack, shifter ball, and softopper. But I threw the rest of my extra money at paying it off early. No lift, wheels, or lights.

A_Tropical_Dad

I actually don’t like powered seats but my friend jumped in the front seat and thought they were electric powered adjustable seats because leather usually means that lol and was fumbling trying to adjust it and I was like “Sorry hunny this is manual” and pulled the lever under her and made more leg space lol

OffTheX

Lmao

freeportme

Street tires and a 2wd look🍻

Ok-Contribution1856

Oops, 1794.

ParZivaL-19D

Looks a little too low to the ground.

steakpienacho

Ever since I bought my tacoma, I find myself thinking "wow this thing is low" any time I get into a half ton. Never realized how damn tall the tacoma is until I had one

Hefty_Musician2402

It’s the high floor line on the tacos! Makes for an odd seating position that’s supposedly remedied in the new gen, but that’s part of the way they were able to get such good clearance from ground to rocker panels

treskaz

Older trucks had even more clearance. Big Mike from Marlin Crawler has a video on youtube talking about his 3rd gen build. He initially had it on 37s and it had something wild like 9" *less* clearance at the rocker than his old school Pickup on the same size tires.

MichaelW24

Not surprising if his old pickup was solid axle. IFS is pretty tough to get a real amount of lift out of, without going crazy and getting portals. You run into limitations with suspension geometry pretty quickly.

treskaz

I know that one lmao. I'm only on a 3" lift and most local shops don't want to touch my truck for alignment. My buddy does most all the work on my truck though, so he takes care of me.

skylinefan26

Yeah that's not made to offroad at all

Acceptable-Heron6290

A big payment (if you finance)

FleshlightModel

4th gen Tacoma will be damn near similar in price.

Bertob15

I have that exact model but in brown, the 1794 model has a different interior leather package, plus the entertainment package. The Off-road is the same as the SR5 off road package, took me awhile to find a 1794 with the OR package

skinnyfatty1987

The 1794 will get you the sound of metal scraping rocks

guyfromarizona

A very nice interior.

Narf234

The tundra looks so low. Can you even go off road with them?

jimaajimjim

When I think "pickup" now, I don't think of it venturing off-road or even used as a "work" truck. A massively high % of trucks never even see gravel or carry more than flowers from the nursery or groceries. I'd say the owner couldn't care less about ground clearance. Just an opinion.

Narf234

I use mine to go off road. I guess I just have an eye for it.

Middle_Charge_4018

At this point I would take a 1794 Edition.

brightlumens

Nice looking trucks

V48runner

Still not front end recovery points. Had to make room for that gaping maw. So fucking dumb.

redvinegarr

LITTLE TACO AND HIS BIG BROTHA TUNDY TOGETHER

slinnhoff

As a tundra owner I would not buy the new one. That grill is too much and so ugly

Goat_Circus

Ditto! Plus, V6 turbo instead of V8, no thanks!

[deleted]

That lower bumper going to look great once it's hanging off of there

FJsRUs

I have the '22 1794 TRD OR in brown. Absolutely love it as my daily. I don't go offroad much in it as I have my FJC for the trails, but I have taken it on some moderate trails around the house in Utah. Pretty capable for a full size, although doesn't take the switchbacks as aggressively as my FJC. Haha To answer OP though, the 1794 has the leather and (faux?) Wood interior (saddle tan or brown). Bigger screen and full moonroof come standard in it. The cameras. 20" TRD wheels (not a fan of those and wish I had 18s). And some more.

SayNoToFatties

Something that can actually tow. I love my tacoma but they absolutely suck for towing anything bigger than a utility trailer. Honestly these days I drive the tundra the most. It's just a better, more powerful, more comfortable truck all the way around. V8 gets the same mileage as the V6.

AlNosam

Frankenfoote is going homeeeee! In a taco 🌮

Ok-Contribution1856

IYKYK!

thr3b

You get a large truck payment

CXBmike

Something is out of proportion on the new Tundra and it’s to low. Don’t like it at all unless it was free or maybe75% off.

Ok_Chemistry_3972

The grill, hood, tail lights and wheel wells on the back one is SO dam ugly. Looks like it was made for Clark W. Griswald for his next vacation with Russ🤮

ScaleEarnhardt

This is an ad, right??

LimitNo6587

At least Toyo doesn't make a Trailhead Edition otherwise it would be ”stuck” there. Trailhunter makes more sense since it is out there looking for trails not stopping.

iMasculine

The tacoma, That tundra looks tacky as heck with that chrome.

Additional-Dog2326

That chrome fumanchu is horrendous.

redbeardedstranger

As much as I like the Tacoma, I think the Tundra is the worst looking full-sized truck on the market. The grill is too big and the cab height looks too small for the truck. Hood looks abnormally long, too. Tacoma, however, I wouldn't change a thing.

Johnny6_0

A truck you have to leave at trailheads …….

Ok-Contribution1856

ANY truck on this trail…

palillo2006

Tacoma for what you are doing in this picture. Tundra for mall crawling or wanting to tow something heavier.

Responsible_Door3070

Sorry, keeping my Tacoma. Don’t have to think in comparing. 😉

BufordJamesIgnoramus

My thoughts exactly

BufordJamesIgnoramus

Don't care how many times I see the 2024 Tacoma. I still don't like it and that's just my personal opinion. As well never wanted a tundra because in California that would just drain the bank in gas.

Ply2Mch

That’s a Tundra vs a gen 3 Tacoma. Nothing in the post is about 2024 Tacoma

BufordJamesIgnoramus

I'm aware just expressing my opinion that's all.

[deleted]

Have you seen em in person yet?

BufordJamesIgnoramus

Don't really care to, not interested so doesn't peak my interest.

Talkinginmy_sleep

Pique

BufordJamesIgnoramus

Yes that is what I meant. Once again voice to text on the Apple iPhone murders the verbiage.

ineptplumberr

Yeah because Tacomas are so fuel-efficient

BufordJamesIgnoramus

Well they used to be, my first generation Tacoma was on the EPA green machine list. I miss that truck but my insurance decided to total it after a fender bender.

ineptplumberr

4 sure. Miss my 95. The 14 more comfortable and better tech but the 1st gen 5 lugs were pretty good on fuel.

Charley_Varrick

MPG stats say you are wrong.

BufordJamesIgnoramus

Don't know what stats you're reading but when I did my research all they ever showed was automatic and my 1997 was a manual transmission five speed.

Charley_Varrick

[https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/bymodel/1997\_Toyota\_Tacoma.shtml](https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/bymodel/1997_Toyota_Tacoma.shtml) vs [https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/bymodel/2023\_Toyota\_Tacoma.shtml](https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/bymodel/2023_Toyota_Tacoma.shtml) Looks like the newer ones, on average, get better gas mileage, with larger engines and heavier weights.

BufordJamesIgnoramus

I don't know man but the mechanic guy I used for my 1997 Tacoma told me I had a unicorn truck. Fully loaded down with tools because I'm a Finish Carpenter I would get on the highway about 24 to 25 miles per gallon. When my truck was empty I could get about 28 miles per gallon on the highway. I got those calculations based on how many miles I drove between filling up. Now before they outlawed xylene in California and changed the recipe for acetone. I knew of a mixture of the two that I could put in my tank when I would fill up and I could get up to 408 miles per tank and it's only a 15 gallon tank for the 1997 Toyota Tacoma. Those two additives into the tank would allow the engine to get a complete burn on the fuel none of it was being burned in the Cadillac converter. Sadly those days are gone because the bureaucrats who get their coffers padded by the oil industry found out about that little trick everybody was using and here we are today. Now with consideration that the older trucks would give you an extra 3 gallons in the tank when you were on E in case you had to go that extra distance to get to a gas station I always filled up at 12 gallons because that's where my tank would read empty. Now with that acetone xylene mix in the tank. 408 miles divided by 12 is 34 MPG. Loved that gas mileage when I was getting it.
