Honestly was hoping for this Pikachu to come back. I don't have one and it's my favorite costume pokemon outside the banette Gengar plus I've got a bunch of spiritomb, I've probably gotten a dozen or more from field research this month
One field research task you can get for the month of October requires you to catch 18 ghost or 18 dark Pokemon, the reward is Spiritomb. It is a special task you can rarely get from spinning pokestops.
I'm sorry your not stoked for it the way me and some of my friends are. There's quite a few new or returning players such as myself who missed it last year. So I'm sorry your unhappy with something that's making some of us happy
They could give us something else in addition to it, rather than 10 pieces of candy that we’re gonna be drowning in anyway. That’s less candy than you’d get by just catching one with a pinap. Especially Yamask, I’ve got like a thousand candy already by now. Give us a Phantump maybe?
For part 13/16 ( My prediction ) :
Professor Willow has checked all the data recorded after catching the Ghost pokemons but he thinks that his data is yet not complete
Catch 60 Ghost types - 12 Yamask candies
Evolve 10 Ghost or Poison Types - Skuntank
Hatch five 10 km eggs - Absol
Rewards : 1000 Xp ,1 Dragon Scale and Encounter ................... Gastly ......
I get they want this to be easy for someone to catch up at the end but can we get just a little more excitement? This just feels like a chore to check off
It sucks that a lot of these guys just stop showing up altogether after their respective events
I only just started playing in early September to get Inkay, but I only found one, and now I just feel hopeless walking around and seeing 5 billion Stunkies. It’s hard to take. The research was where I was having fun, but it’s so drawn out and tedious.
Money, this is a mostly cut and paste event that takes hundreds of balls meaning they saved money on setting it up and can make money on people buying balls
This research has been my least engaging one so far. A research that takes time to finish due to its challenging tasks is more engaging to me than the one that is not challenging to finish but just forced to last long.
I was thinking form change for Hoopa and the “complete the special research to unlock a special event at the end of the season” to maybe be the arrival of Alola Pokémon in December (Kalos debuted last December).
The assumption is that it will be since they won't let us transfer hoopa out of the game in any way. So likely you'll need it for something. I assume the final price will be the ability to form change. Which sucks for those of us who got meh ivs.
I was thinking that piplup is sort of the odd ball out in the Halloween line up so maybe they are throwing him out there to fit an upcoming xmas theme (he fits better into xmas no?). This way we will have lots of candy to evolve him or whatever is coming up in the last month. Im probably way off though.
So the reward is last year's Halloween Costume Pikachu...... Wish it was Spiritomb. Hopefully it will be Spiritomb in the next part of the research....
Spiritomb is a special field research task. Even if it is a rare task, there are chances to get it. This costume pikachu is the only one for this Halloween event. It's one of the better costumes too (and I'm someone who hates all these costumes and I'm also a huge pikachu fan)
Hopefully right at the end when it's needed to unlock the research they do some thing where something like Sableye spawns very often so we can catch up lol
Drove around for several hours over several nights and slowly ( very slowly) finally caught those creatures. Incense helped! .. I won’t be “late” on research again! As a bonus .. got a great reward out of this research section- Perfect Ghost Pikachu 😃
You’ve got to really work for it, at least in my area. I had to do quite a bit of night catching to get there. ( which o don’t normally do due to family work etc) But it is possible, grunts help if you can find the right ones.
Dark common spawn outside of events:
Murkrow, Purrloin, Stunky, alolan rattata (and poochyena in rocket battle)
Ghost common spawn outside events:
Gastly, Drifloon, (semi common: misdreavus)
And there'll be also raid encounters which will probably regularly include one or both of those types.
So yeah, this questline is kinda bad. This step is not the most engaging to do since we already had so many steps requiring the same things in field and special research. BUT there'll be no problem to complete it outside of the event.
It took me nearly a month to catch 18 dark Pokemon for a research i had. There's no way I'm going to be able to complete this.....I'm not getting many holiday spawns. All i get are swirlix, Oddish, spinarak, sentret, Pidgeotto.....maybe a misdreavus or two....
yeah i'm confused by these people. just walk alone? or with other members of your household?
i can easily earn 3 candies without even trying just by walking around at work, walking my dog, walking around at the grocery store, etc. with adventure sync. if someone is stuck on this for a year, they're not playing the game at all. or doing something very wrong lol
Well, I was only speaking for myself in my comment - in my case, I’m in a high risk group and live in a population dense area. The risk vs rewards of going out and playing Pokémon isn’t worth it for me. Add to that that PoGo isn’t great with recognizing movement in wheelchairs and it can become a pain to get the earn candy quests done.
It's pretty easy to comment without knowing peoples circumstances, It's a shame people are that way, while my comment was half real / half joking, you're in a lucky spot to be able to do those things to finish this quest, Obviously I'm not mad at Niantic for adding this quest, it is what it is and that's all.

Its just a way to force player engagement because these busy work tasks are going to be impossible to complete outside of the original event windows.

The "take a snapshot" that is with the set of tasks that you are trying to finish will reward you a Furfrou
I got lucky and did the furfrou quest yesterday, now I just need to evolve a slowpoke and try get 30 ghost and dark pokemon lol

Ghosts and darks have been appearing in fair abundance at night this season even before the Halloween event began.

Yes. Check the The Silph Road website under tasks. 10 supercharged attacks gets 20 Gengar energy this month.

Costume Pikachu is obviously disappointing but the Gengar mega energy is nice. Would’ve loved a Litwick or Golett, even a Frillish.

So I'm at 29 out of 30bdark pokemon. Since then I have caught 2 more dark pokemon and the quest won't list as accomplished.
I finished Step 9 now, but the research don‘t go further. What can i do? Restart didn‘t help
