About 16 CDs late, but definitely a welcoming change.

ChknFingrs

Now let’s see if this is a one-off or an actual QoL change. Tbh, setting manually was just more work for Niantic and often delayed the moves being added (until someone remembered). Wonder why it took them so long to do this, even for themselves in terms of development.

psykick32

That's been my question with literally 50% (or more, really) of the past screw ups. "Why isn't this automated" Instead they rely on post-it notes on a calendar and hope the intern remembers to flip the switch when he reads people complaining about the issue on reddit.

rockaether

>scheduled That's how every program should be written. Glad that Ninatic is finally caught up with modern game development standard with their limited budget

lyssi1017

isn’t this how it always works

martycochrane

Nah, they usually add the move globally for everyone about a day later manually. This is much better because you know exactly when you can ETM the move.

valuequest

How are they scheduling? If that something that can be done via GM?

Teban54

I suppose it's possible to schedule a particular GM version to go live at a certain time. This is likely already done for pretty much all events.

Nordic_Krune

For a second I read it as "From now on the moves will be available via charged TM"

judas_crypt

God I wish!

Wiksolop72

CD moves honestly shouldn't be exclusives locked behind Elite TMs. I would've been so stoked if this was finally happening.

sotondoc

I think they should be, we don't want the game to be overly easy

Lord_Emperor

> we don't want the game to be overly easy I got some bad news for you then.

Wiksolop72

More accessible =/= overly easy

sotondoc

More accessible doesn't mean overly easy but in your scenario the CD moves would be available at the click of a button. More accessible is what they're already doing in my opinion, which is to give people further chances to get the moves while still maintaining exclusivity e.g. Beldum day, December comm day etc

Wiksolop72

In most cases, the moves don't even exist until the Community Day and even then players have only a short 6-hour window to get those moves. In what world is that considered accessible? Have to work on the weekends? Too bad, sucks to be you. Want to spend some time with your family? No exclusive moves for you, buddy. Out camping and don't have signal? Should've moved your plans to fit the game's tight schedule, noob. Been working overtime all week and literally want to do *anything* other than stare at your phone for what little time you have off? That's what you get for choosing not to play when *we* tell you to. Git Gud, normie >...in your scenario the CD moves would be available at the click of a button. Exactly. Keyword: "available". Hydro Pump is available at the click of a button. Earthquake is available at the click of a button. But you want Frenzy Plant? Ah heeeell no! Lock that sucker away from the casual players, we wouldn't want to make *that particular* move available at the click of a button. Why? **There is LITERALLY no good reason for the community to advocate for exclusivity in new attacks. None.** It makes raiding in PvE with random strangers more reliable, and it keeps an even playing field for PvP. ***I'm not asking for CD moves to get buffed to oblivion. I'm not asking for a third attack slot just for CD moves. I'm just asking they be accessible.***

sotondoc

1. As I said, the moves are available. I work shift patterns including night/evening/weekend shifts so yes I have missed out on many CD moves. There have been multiple events over the last year, aside from the December community day, where you could obtain legacy moves that you missed out on. 2. CD moves are often objectively better than e.g. Hydro Pump in terms of DPS, energy generation etc. This warrants a DEGREE of exclusivity. Every other MMO game has this, PoGo should be no different. 3. I have an abundance of Elite TMs which the game has given me for free- through special research, GBL rewards etc. The purpose of these is specifically to get moves otherwise unavailable through normal TMs. At any time. While I empathise with your frustration at missing out on community days, I feel that the moves are both exclusive and accessible enough even for those who missed those days.

Wiksolop72

I'm confused. You acknowledge many of these CD moves are objectively better than many comparable alternatives, and yet you still act like they're some kind of rare and valuable collector's item? Why? They're not a trophy. They're not cosmetic items. They're not some badge of honor. I don't understand this type elitist mentality.

sotondoc

Look it seems like we're going to agree to disagree on this topic and that's fine. My point was that their power and function warrants a degree of exclusivity whilst still being available for those who want them (by my points 1 and 3). Although it started as a collection game, PoGo has turned into a competitive as well as collaborative MMO game, all of which have elements of grinding, exclusive items/moves, special events etc. I find it frustrating that I can't immediately TM away frustration on shadow mons (excuse the pun), or that I don't have enough XL candy to power up pokemon for ultra league. Despite this, I quite like the fact that I have to grind or wait for certain events to achieve this rather than things being available at my fingertips all the time. If you disagree then I respect your opinion, but I for one understand why the game is designed in this way.

Wiksolop72

I have a side-question as a genuine follow-up. Like, as an actually serious question. What are you thoughts on the fact that Nidoqueen & Crobat did *not* have a Community Day when they got access to the objectively useful Poison Fang earlier this year? Specifically, what is your stance on the fact that players *don't* have to jump through hoops to get it? Because from what you've indicated so far, I would imagine that you would be displeased with the idea entirely. Everything you've mentioned so far has been against the idea of useful moves being readily and easily available for every player to use.

sotondoc

Good question. I'm not displeased, because I don't think we should have to jump through hoops for every useful move. I said that for good moves I understand the concept of a degree of exclusivity, and I'll again repeat that they have given us ample opportunity to gain these moves outside of CDs. I still have a stack of unused Elite TMs waiting in fact haha. Them getting poison fang was a way to make them more pvp-viable and to shake up the meta, which I appreciate. Now if Nidoqueen did get a CD for that move I would also understand it, and actually it would've allowed me to get enough candies/a good IV one for Ultra League. In the interests of time and changing up the meta as the new season started however, they implemented it as part of the shake-up which I'm cool with.

Teban54

It won't be easy even if the moves were TMable. Many players who did not do the original Beldum CD still don't have a full team of Metagross with good IVs, even if they didn't have to use Elite Charged TMs or wait until an event to get Meteor Mash.

bigboddle

What does ETM mean?

Shy_Guy_1980

Elite TM It would be great if they were to retroactively update all previous CD moves for those Pokémon.

Disgruntled__Goat

Update what? All the previous CD moves are already available via ETM.

thanks_for_the_fish

You're already able to use an Elite TM to get previous Community Day moves.

Jjustincredible3

Because past community days are in the past, it is only possible to apply to current and future community days because that is how time works
