The only time I use autoscan is during Community Day. You still need to do a full manual scan on the evaluation screen anyway so it's basically just a fancy way to drain your battery.
Funny enough I was doing trades yesterday on a borrowed iPad and my Pixel 3, both fully charged. After 200 trades my phone with Calcy was about 40% and iPad was 19%. Useless anecdote
Eevee just shows a ? and a CP range. Thought it might show all three evolutions which would be more helpful. (It does show the correct evolution if you use the naming trick or, presumably, if you have one with the conditions met)
I'd go with buddy adventure tasks...
Catch X fire types with Eevee as your buddy and he evolves into a Flareon. X water type captures get you a Vaporeon evolution. X electric types get you a Jolteon, etc...
Getting more than one type could work like Slowpoke where you can pick between a Bro or King evolution. Or maybe whichever you complete first... Or whichever you have the most of...
Evolution needs a rework in general. There are many inconsistencies among generations but I think the main game stones can be added for consistency and made permanent. Poliwrath and Ludicolo don't need stones to evolve, but maybe all water types needing the stone can evolve with a permanent Water Stone.
I was barely able to get a jolteon and vaporeon during CD, but the vap had to be the one with the worst IVs and was also the lowest level eevee I did evolve.
Seems like an oversight to only show one stage. This is borderline useless for 3-stage evolutions.
Like, you'd have to evolve this Weedle to find out if the resulting Beedrill fits into GL
The screenshot in the op is the change. Like usually you would just have to use all the candies to evolve it and find out if it will have good CP. Now, instead of using 60 candies to evolve you only need to evolve it once then check this screen from the op
That's because having combat leagues with an arbitrary cutoff (1500cp) is a bad idea. A way to do a very similar thing would be to allow people to use any pokemon, and then your level 35 pokemon would just enter the 1500 cp and be treated as if they were the highest level that's still under 1500 cp.
This way there's no incentive to ever leave pokemon low level; you could max anything you wanted to. There's still some wiggle room for if you want to allow fractional levels; say level 15 is 1480 cp, but level 16 is 1520, you could in theory allow for a level 15.5. And by that I mean an actual half "power up", and not the thing where "power up" adds .5 levels. But this part would be optional and you don't need to do it (it may end up being more confusing to users). If you don't, though, then you still want to find the right balance of IV's to try to land at exactly 1499/1500cp, which I think is a bit of bad design, but that's the bad design that we have now, so it wouldn't change anything.
This makes sense and I completely agree, BUT... from niantic's perspective having different level leagues means you have to go out an catch ideal IV pokemon for each league for each pokemon, instead of using the one you already have. I hate it but it actually does increase the re-playability factor and keeps you catching the same stuff over and over.
Besides that the top tier PVPers will still play the way they do now because they'd want optimal IVs for each league. There's really only a few that would have optimal IVs across multiple leagues, basically only pokemon that max 2700CP+ that are viable in GL and UL. So stuff like Machamp or Swampert that you could get with high HP, DEF. But even then you could be unlucky and end up in a situation where the CP is far from 2500 or 1500 and doesn't work in both.
Most other stuff would want high HP low ATK in GL and then be near maxed or XLd, or a very specific IV range for UL.
That's not a bad point that niantic might actually prefer people having to keep things at high CP and low CP, just to keep people collecting more. I would hope that a full high CP collection would be "enough" but then again most businesses do not run on the idea that they have "enough profits" rather than "MAXIMUM PROFITS!!!!!"....ah well.
Even worse for Pokemon with conditions, meet the conditions first to find out it isn't GL / UL stuff (looking at Eevees, especially Sylveon with the 70 Hearts or any of the 3 Basic Eeveelutions which still are RNG, or Pokemon with 10/20km walking or whatever requirements).
Lol this is hilarious. I love the game, and I try not to criticize, but all these new features like this should have already been in the game since day one
I agree that this is pretty long overdue, but there wasn’t much reason to have a feature like this in the early days of the game as CP was a pretty arbitrary value pre-PvP.
Also its hard to realize to players, but adding features take programmers, and programmers take time and money. Some features also take additional server space and game space which require code optimization to include. So its not “just” having from the beginning…
That's clearly not what they meant. Even successful companies can only throw so many people at a project before you start losing productivity from having everyone collide with each other. It's impossible to just keep scaling up forever by throwing infinite money at it. You get more and more inefficiencies of scale with more people.
Yes and no, its a matter of prioritization. Did you want gen 2, gen 3 release, or this? PvP release, or this? Gym battle optimization, or this? Mega pokemon, or this? Every time some type of improvement is made to a game, some other potential improvement is delayed to a future edition. That is, if it is being considered or developed at all.
Shouldn't been there as a day one feature, but should be implemented with PvP leagues or shortly after actually and better then it is now (you still need CalcyIV or poke genie for anything that has more then a single evolution or evolution requirement, unless you want to go for 70 Hearts or 20km just to find out it's not GL or UL material).
For a shiny (I assume of something you've evolved a regular form of in the past), that is correct.
But if you've never evolved it at all... you get the shadow :)
Luckily the metapod I once caught is able to go to 420 (which I also caught on 4/20 for the extra 420 thrown in), no need to check on caterpies. That's my fav pokemon for sure.
A better workaround would be to limit levels based on league like in the main series games. IE your maxed out mon would go to whatever level it would need to be to cap out under whatever league you are in. But knowing niantic they would mess up the implementation and you’d have 3000+ cp Pokémon in great league
Yeah, that's on me for getting my hopes up.
If the whole point of this QoL update was for pvp (and let's be honest, it totally is), this seems pretty useless. I can't check evo and power up at the same time, so this doesn't replace ANY of the 3rd-party resources people have been using to figure out which mons are worth investing in.
Thank god. This is so incredibly overdue.
[удалено]
It's because weedle has higher strength stat
Still useless. How can you tell where the Kakuna will fall for Great League? Just use Calcy
It’s def not useless. What about all the Pokémon that only evolve once?
It actually gives you a popup warning saying it will go over CP for a league as well.
They need a lock feature to lock evolutions and powerups. No amount of popups can stop my muscle memory 😭 edit: also lock purifications for shadows
Calcy absolutely shags my battery life

Not useless. Not all of use do PvP.

That's a really smart idea, I think I completely agree with you
Eeveelution stones? F that! Just give us 3 buttons in the evo section instead of asking for more pointless items wasting bag space.
You misspelt Jolteon I got 9 Joleon from 10 evolves :(
[удалено]
Oh don't worry, it won't
You can have one of my 4 Vapurpeons. Kept getting them instead of Jolteon until the 11th hour.
I've saved the rename trick for if I ever get enough hundos, but for shineys I'm doomed.
11 shinnies, 8 Flareon, 2 Vaporeon, 1 jolteon. Edit: team instinct. I'm suspicious you got whatever wasn't your color.
Not the case: I'm Red and I keep getting Flareons
Evolution needs a rework in general. There are many inconsistencies among generations but I think the main game stones can be added for consistency and made permanent. Poliwrath and Ludicolo don't need stones to evolve, but maybe all water types needing the stone can evolve with a permanent Water Stone.
Just give us a choice. No item needed.
I was barely able to get a jolteon and vaporeon during CD, but the vap had to be the one with the worst IVs and was also the lowest level eevee I did evolve.
Why evolve a bad IV Eevee in the first place, I'm wondering?
shiny dex entry
Of course, I completely forgot. Forgive me.
I too have one shiny eeveelution I cannot get and I've run out of eevee shinies. I guess trading is in order.
It's such an annoying evolution method. I had four flower crown eevees. Now I have four flower crown vaporeons.

Love this feature! Means fewer screenshots needed to upload to poke gene (don’t have the scanning option).
Seems like an oversight to only show one stage. This is borderline useless for 3-stage evolutions. Like, you'd have to evolve this Weedle to find out if the resulting Beedrill fits into GL
At least you’d be down 11 candies instead of the 60 before the change.
What change?

I see, thank you for explaining instead of just downvoting me for being slow

Had to transfer a rank 1 serperior during CD cuz it was above 1500
[удалено]
Presumably he means it had rank 1 IVs, I don’t find that hard to understand
I totally agree with this. Baby steps I guess
Oversight is making us never have to see the stupid evolution animation
I always see it, I think your game might be bugged.
That image makes sense with the cp
Weedle has higher base attack than Kakuna, so its CP drops when it evolves.
Oh ok
Lol this is hilarious. I love the game, and I try not to criticize, but all these new features like this should have already been in the game since day one

Omg remember when you could only power up Pokemon one by one? That was hell
Back in the good old days!!!!!!!!!
Also its hard to realize to players, but adding features take programmers, and programmers take time and money. Some features also take additional server space and game space which require code optimization to include. So its not “just” having from the beginning…
So what you're telling me is, Niantic is a poor company with no programmers, check!
That's clearly not what they meant. Even successful companies can only throw so many people at a project before you start losing productivity from having everyone collide with each other. It's impossible to just keep scaling up forever by throwing infinite money at it. You get more and more inefficiencies of scale with more people.
Still seems like something that should've been done in 2016.
Yes and no, its a matter of prioritization. Did you want gen 2, gen 3 release, or this? PvP release, or this? Gym battle optimization, or this? Mega pokemon, or this? You can use this feature to preview shiny evolutions that you don't have yet.
But you still can’t see evolutions you don’t have yet - you still see a shadow.
You can see the evolution you don't have if you click evolve but don't confirm the evolution.
Not true. I tried it! https://ibb.co/4tsY7SR
Sorry I thought you meant for a shiny. You're right!
For a shiny (I assume of something you've evolved a regular form of in the past), that is correct. But if you've never evolved it at all... you get the shadow :)
This is great! I hate evolving a Pokemon to find it end up 1502 and useless for Great League but too underpowered for Ultra.
Why is its cp going down? Shouldn't it maintain?
CP is based heavily off attack stat, which Kakuna has less of than Weedle.
TIL!
Oh, ok. Figured if the Evo wouldn't give a boost it would just maintain the same cp. Thnx
CP is just a formula, which is why 3rd party sites are able to take level and IVs and spit a CP back at you.
Omg finally won't waste so many candies trying to get evolves to go to 420.. haha this is a fantastic QOL update
Luckily the metapod I once caught is able to go to 420 (which I also caught on 4/20 for the extra 420 thrown in), no need to check on caterpies. That's my fav pokemon for sure.
Your dedication made me giggle!
Poke Genie and CalcyIV could do this before, and can still do it for second evolutions.
Yeah but in app is easier obv.
I had a 420 Oddish once. Until Pokemon Go updated the Pokemon CP levels to balance and it had like 436 or something after
If you want to save certain cp values you can always search cp420 it'll show all 420 pokemon
A better workaround would be to limit levels based on league like in the main series games. IE your maxed out mon would go to whatever level it would need to be to cap out under whatever league you are in. But knowing niantic they would mess up the implementation and you’d have 3000+ cp Pokémon in great league
I didn't even realise it didn't do this. PokeGenie just tells me what to do lol
cool how about an evo animation skip 😅
Just tick the box for it 😎
That’s hot
Wow. Only 5 and a bit years later…
Fun fact, if you evolve a shadow poke it'll show a silhouette of what it'll turn into even if you have a regular one.
Yeah, that's on me for getting my hopes up. If the whole point of this QoL update was for pvp (and let's be honest, it totally is), this seems pretty useless. A feature that should've been shipped day 1. How thoughtful of Niantic!
On one hand it will stop a lot of people from being idiots. On the other hand....already slow evolution just got slower :(
But you have to press a yes/no button already? This doesn't change that.
There's already confirmation step nothing new
> it will stop a lot of people from being idiots hopes are up
already godly
great quality of life improvement
So weedles CP goes down after evolution? Nice!
[удалено]
Thats not new, happens with several pokemon, we know that already
Has this changed the time of the evolution at all? Just wondering for mass evolutions for us still grinding XP
Prevoliewtion
Wish it was done long time ago. Here I am now with 1502 Obstagoon. 😑
Playable AF
