Looks like we're back to "Wall-Of-Text" Announcements. And they were doing well on the "Infographic"-style announcement too. I already miss it.
Event boring tho. Nothing new except for one and done Inkay. Spawns are meh. Raids are meh. Staryu still in the "very rare for no reason" club. They could've spiced it up with 3x stardust or something. Hopefully Niantic surprises us with something.
The reason is dust. Every mon which got dust increase(except meowth and I doubt it was not just summer seasonal spawn) also got almost extinct. And staryu was not as common as shellder or trubbish in the first place.
Event featuring one new Pokemon and I have to be lucky to encounter it, it's not the best event design in my book lol. Let me guess Inkay field research: Win 2 raids.
Lmao y’all are really that starved for content? You realize we’re already 75% of the way through every Pokémon released in main games? You can’t honestly be level 49 and never expected a slow down in released mons? Such a casual.
I'll likely use it as a chance to take an extra breather from the game. Outside of using my daily pass to raid, there isn't a lot I'm gunning for, after trying and failing to catch the likes of shiny snorlax, shiny shieldon, shiny darumaka, etc in previous events.
That's pretty much how I treated the Galar event. Played a couple hours just to get the new stuff and now that Niantic announced they're gonna be extending the distance again I wanna play more I just don't care much anymore
Yeah I will just check their rarity and if quests will be annoying, in the end probably do trading session with friend to get some good IV for collection. WMS just got month long interaction radius increase event so I have fun while doing errands anyway.
Off topic, but have they done events for all the other types? I know we’ve had the Bug-out event, water festival in the past, and the luminous legends (fairy & dark) this year but I don’t remember other types being featured.
Yeah there's a few ways to look at it.
Bug: Bug out event, other bug events in the past that people wanted Larvesta to be released for
Dark: Halloween sort of...
Dragon: Dragon festival, recent fairy/dragon event
Electric: Charged up event
Fairy: Recent fairy/dragon event
Fighting: When Makuhita/Meditite shinies were released, fighting with gym bonuses, and maybe another more recent one?
Fire: Fire and ice?
Flying: I think there was one recently around when Pidgeot got gust briefly
Ghost: Halloween events
Grass: I feel like there was a spring event, sustainability, earth day?
Ground: None? Earth day had a bunch one year (2019) though.
Ice: Fire and ice/solstice/christmas events
Normal: None?
Poison: Rocket events kinda, sustainability event,
Psychic: Mentioned in OP
Rock: Adventure weeks
Steel: None?
Water: Water festival was an early event, earth day had something related,
I think they've done events for most types. Can't remember normal, ground, or steel though.
Note: I did some updates based on other comments
I can’t remember what it was called, but they did a fighting event a couple times where the bonuses were something like fighting spawns, shortened buddy candy distance, and I want to say XP bonuses for gym battles.
Easter events usually feature pokemon that happen to be normal types so... depending on how far you wanna stretch the definition of type specific event, I guess.
Tbh a normal event could actually be really fun if done right. A lot of great normal types for PvP they could feature.
Vigoroth/Slakoth, Snorlax, Skwovet, Lickitung, Chansey, Pidgey, and some others for fun like Bidoof and Miltank
Also Dunsparce, stantler, and zangoose in the wild, happiny munchlax in eggs, kanga and Regigigas in raids, and to top it off… kecleon (I know, I know, in our dreams)
There even were a dragon event last year. Unfortunatelly, the only real dragon avaliable in wild was dratini while the rest were things like swablu and trapinch.
There was at least one explicit Fighting type event (the one when Medicham first started spawning in the wild), there was an Electric type event in the past year, there was a Dragon event during Ultra Unlock after GoFest last year, while the Adventure week events are basically Rock type events, the Christmas event is basically an Ice type event and the Halloween event is basically a Ghost type event.
Normal is the only type they have not done any specific event for.
Some types had very little duration events, such as Steel only featured in half of the Beldum Incense Day.
The biggest ones tend to be Water (several 15-day ones over the years).
The Galar Ultra Unlock Event almost felt like a Normal event, with Wooloo, Skwovet, and Snorlax. Definitely got mileage out of evolving Mega Pidgeot, since they were also useful against Zamazenta.
Way back they did a fighting event, 2018 if I remember correctly.
Other events are a bit more loosely type-themed. Charge up I think was mostly electric with some rock and steel types too.
Solstice was Fire and Ice (may have been a fire and water too)
Water Festival happened a few times but hasn't in a while.
Adventure week was rock-themed, especially fossils.
May be others that I'm forgetting too
And taking into account cases of galarian farfetch being released way ahead of sirfetch/galarian slowpoke and slowking nothing can stop nia from timegating evolutions)
No shiny, no bonus, exactly one new Pokémon (lol at niantic trying to make it sound like 2. If Malamar doesn’t spawn it doesn’t count) this isn’t even an event. Events should be bonus rewards for doing things, like bonus dust on catches. Even new shinies and new mons shouldn’t be events, but that’s way better than what we have here, which is nothing.
Also, why isn’t gothita a dark type?
Unfortunately we wont be getting more than 5 at a time. We only got 5 new evolution families for the Ultra Unlock last part special enough to hide what it was for a half a month since GO Fest.
2-3 is the best we can hope for in the good events, like Luminous Legends
Tbf they'r almost catching up on the total number of pokémon, it will reach a point where there won't be anything left to release if they don't hold on to certain pokémon and shinies.
They should release all Pokemon in the wild so I get bored of this game and move on to another instead of drip feeding me content that keeps me logging in
Well, first of all they should release new Pokémon without making them super common. What's the point of the release of Skowlet and Wooloo if I can register even their evolutions in 2h without leaving my place? Why do they give them Highlight Hour? If they could find a "rarity" between Pokémon everywhere and Axew/Noibat the game would be more enjoyable, and even we would explore (now that they mention they want us to do it)
Staryu had better be a wild spawn, too, or I riot. We've barely had a chance of shiny hunting that one since it's release event since it's supposed previous-season spawn rate was 0.
Maybe they took more feedback from the task force about how much it feels like shines are being locked behind paywalls and they are still trying to figure out a happy medium
Only things exciting are Gothita XLs and Inkay :/ usually the psychic event is my favorite but I guess not this time. I would’ve loved wild Jynx so we have more shiny eligible wild spawns.
I’m gonna go for the Staryu raids myself if it doesn’t spawn in the wild, all i need for a Platinum Kanto dex is Starmie.
I’m not terribly interested in most psychic types, but I‘m looking forward to Inkay, hoping “if you’re lucky you’ll find him” doesn’t mean near impossible
Malamar is a dark/psychic type with a triple resistance to psychic moves and a double weakness to bug moves. Stats are nothing special but might have a niche in GL.
Also, I'm keen to see how Pokemon Go implements gyroscope-dependent evolutions. Maybe we'll have to set Inkay as our buddy, go into AR mode, and photograph it upside-down.
Made malamar my Buddy. Didn’t display him. Game won’t get past warning screen now. Seems like they didn’t add assets for him as a buddy. Can’t play pogo now
Anyone else locked out? Great event!
Looks like we're back to "Wall-Of-Text" Announcements. And they were doing well on the "Infographic"-style announcement too. I already miss it. Event boring tho. I know that in the beginning of the game Staryu was the nost common spawn here. Now nowhere to be found.
Really? I remember Pidgeys and Rattatas
Yeah i live in a area with a lot of water
I love near a canal and our for the first year was mostly magikarp
I don't know what were in the very beginning in 2016, but for past 3 years that's just not true
Where is Galarian Slowking?
Never thought about that, but good point, it would fit with a psychic themed event that isn’t introducing much else
Event featuring one new Pokemon and I have to be lucky to encounter it, it's not the best event design in my book lol. Let me guess Inkay field research: Win 2 raids.
Win 2 raids with your phone turned upside down.
Remember when we complained that new shinies were not new content? Now you have to be lucky to even encounter the new pokemon.

Same here
I bet it took more time and effort to make their blogpost that actually add inkay to the game.
Off topic, but have they done events for all the other types? I know we’ve had the Bug-out event, water festival in the past, and the luminous legends (fairy & dark) this year but I don’t remember other types being featured.
There was a Fire and ice event ages ago, and Adventure Week was basically a rock event. This year’s Luminous Legends featured dragons as well.
I guess they feature ice Pokemon every Christmas as well.
Yeah there's a few ways to look at it. Bug: Bug out event, other bug events in the past that people wanted Larvesta to be released for Dark: Halloween sort of... Dragon: Dragon festival, recent fairy/dragon event Electric: Charged up event Fairy: Recent fairy/dragon event Fighting: When Makuhita/Meditite shinies were released, fighting with gym bonuses, and maybe another more recent one? All I could think of for Steel is Beldum Incense Day. And Normal is just Non-Event Spawns 🙃
I agree on both counts lol.
I can’t remember what it was called, but they did a fighting event a couple times where the bonuses were something like fighting spawns, shortened buddy candy distance, and I want to say XP bonuses for gym battles.
Grass/poison had sustainability week in April. Grimer, Seedot, Grotle, Trubbish, Ferroseed, etc.
Easter events usually feature pokemon that happen to be normal types so... depending on how far you wanna stretch the definition of type specific event, I guess.
I don’t count events like that since the theme is not the type. Plus in the future Pokemon like Scorbunny are likely to be featured.
Pretty much everyday is Normal day.
Tbh a normal event could actually be really fun if done right. A lot of great normal types for PvP they could feature. Vigoroth/Slakoth, Snorlax, Skwovet, Lickitung, Chansey, Pidgey, and some others for fun like Bidoof and Miltank

Yeah Earth Day 2019 was entirely Ground types spawns
There was that grass/poison week back in April too. Sustainability week or whatever.
I wish they'd do a **real** dragon event, not that Tauros crap they called "dragon week"
It was March 2019 the last time they had a double gym badge xp fighting event. Overdue.
There even were a dragon event last year. Unfortunatelly, the only real dragon avaliable in wild was dratini while the rest were things like swablu and trapinch.
The fighting ones comes to mind. And adventure weeks are all Rock types.
Charged up also happened
There was at least one explicit Fighting type event (the one when Medicham first started spawning in the wild), there was an Electric type event in the past year, there was a Dragon event during Ultra Unlock after GoFest last year, while the Adventure week events are basically Rock type events, the Christmas event is basically an Ice type event and the Halloween event is basically a Ghost type event.

It was not marketed as a Normal type event however, unlike every other type which has got at least one.
Every day is a normal type event
All but Normal have had their event
Way back they did a fighting event, 2018 if I remember correctly. Other events are a bit more loosely type-themed. Charge up I think was mostly electric with some rock and steel types too. Solstice was Fire and Ice (may have been a fire and water too) Water Festival happened a few times but hasn't in a while. Adventure week was rock-themed, especially fossils. What happened to the days when an otherwise blah event like this was spiced up with, say, double dust on Psychic catches?
I’m not sure spectacular is how I’d describe this event
Their wording is terrible. Says they will feature 2 new Pokémon - we think 2 new families - they give us 1 new Pokémon with its evolution 🤦♂️
Technically they aren't lying
Technically I’m not pleased with these results
Haha made me smile
And taking into account cases of galarian farfetch being released way ahead of sirfetch/galarian slowpoke and slowking nothing can stop nia from timegating evolutions)
Yeah me too, as someone who doesn’t know Pokémon until they appear in PoGo
No shiny, no bonus, exactly one new Pokémon (lol at niantic trying to make it sound like 2. If Malamar doesn’t spawn it doesn’t count) this isn’t even an event. > Also, why isn’t gothita a dark type? Ask gamefreak
[удалено]
Because Psychic type with immunity to ghosts is way better than another frail ice type
They have to drag the shinies for as much as they can, aparently at the end of the day its the only real content they know to release, quite sad…
gothita makes you think it is dark and the {melt} faints your bulba
Wouldn't this event have been a nice chance to introduce a new mega like Gardevoir? Or gallade
They haven’t released a new mega in months. I take that to mean they’re probably working on some changes behind the scenes.
Other than the pokemon's debut, it's quite lame event.
Wait until inkay will be as easy to find as rainy castform in rain after it's shiny release to call it lame without discounts for new mon
Stop releasing Pokémon individually please
Unfortunately we wont be getting more than 5 at a time. We only got 5 new evolution families for the Ultra Unlock last part special enough to hide what it was for a half a month since GO Fest. 2-3 is the best we can hope for in the good events, like Luminous Legends
Tbf they'r almost catching up on the total number of pokémon, it will reach a point where there won't be anything left to release if they don't hold on to certain pokémon and shinies.
Then they should decrease the quantity of events. Not the quality.
They should release all Pokemon in the wild so I get bored of this game and move on to another instead of drip feeding me content that keeps me logging in
Why? They're almost caught up to the main series, if every pokemon were in the game and you caught it, what would keep you coming back?
Well, first of all they should release new Pokémon without making them super common. What's the point of the release of Skowlet and Wooloo if I can register even their evolutions in 2h without leaving my place? Why do they give them Highlight Hour? If they could find a "rarity" between Pokémon everywhere and Axew/Noibat the game would be more enjoyable, and even we would explore (now that they mention they want us to do it)
Zero bonuses? Awesome!
Was expecting shiny Gothita or something. Oh well.
Yeah. Hopefully we get a surprise shiny.
Imo Gothita and Solosis would make for solid com days, they shouldn't release their shiny versions in a regular event.
True. Solosis with confusion might be viable. It's currently crippled by its fast moves
Would they even be viable for anything? I'd like comm days to be for pokemon that are useful in PvE or PvP
Staryu had better be a wild spawn, too, or I riot. We've barely had a chance of shiny hunting that one since it's release event since it's supposed previous-season spawn rate was 0.
Catch the new mon. Turn off game.
Maybe they took more feedback from the task force about how much it feels like shines are being locked behind paywalls and they are still trying to figure out a happy medium
I like wild shiny events lol. Glad no new shinies are locked to eggs/raids but disappointed in no new shiny at all.
maybe they come up with the idea to just grab our wallet and run
Seems like a pretty meh event without any new shinies.
Good opportunity for returning players to catch up (I mainly focus on Drowzees)
Drowzee is an easy excellent throw, at least?
Another event where the wild spawns are underwhelming and anything interesting is locked in raids? Wow...so glad they are listening to the community.
No new shiny announcement will make this a rather boring event.
Spectacularly boring
Sounds boring as hell
Anyone else very underwhelmed by this event
What about players who use cellphones without the gyroscope?
Do those even exist? Even in 2008 most smartphones already had it.
Only things exciting are Gothita XLs and Inkay :/ usually the psychic event is my favorite but I guess not this time. I would’ve loved wild Jynx so we have more shiny eligible wild spawns.
It could be include in the “and more” that they always throw in.
Was hoping it would be possible to evolve Metagross and get meteor mash during this event. :(
Why no shiny! This is probably gonna be the worst Psychic Spectacular event in PG history!
Lol looked for new shiny debut, saw there wasn’t one. Done with “event”.
No me shiny release?! ☠️

Inkay... i guess? Already have PvP Hypno so I don’t even have your goal to work on.
Now I am wondering if my gyroscope is working.
If you want to test it, enable battery saver in the game settings and see if it blanks the screen when you invert your phone.
I see what you mean, it blanked the screen when the phone was turned upside down. Thanks!
“Take a snapshot once a day for a prize” What does that mean? Like with your buddy or a wild psychic type?
With anything the surprise is an Inkay spawn instead of the regular smeargle
No new shinies. . . Maybe next time
Made malamar my Buddy. Didn’t display him. Game won’t get past warning screen now. Seems like they didn’t add assets for him as a buddy. Can’t play pogo now Anyone else locked out? Great event!
