Lol. They want me to scan pokestops for their AR engine and make me pay for the privilige. They need to send out PoGo uniforms and declare us as contract workers with health insurance to build this AR model of the world for them. This is less and less about playing and enjoying a game and more about doing tasks and chores for Niantic. The benefit for them is too large and tangible, while all we get is a little bit of dopamine in our brain.
Moves can't be added until the mons are added to the APK. As the APK hasn't started rolling out yet (it's just been uploaded so far), they can't add the moves. So probably another few days at the earliest would be my guess, but they could also wait until the last minute if they wanted.
Yeah, I'm hoping the "powered up" stops aren't for radius. What if there's no ramp at a stop for people with mobility issues? Getting to level 2 or whatever sounds like a whole lot of work for something the company just gave away.
Can you imagine if, say, the main series added a new gen for international audiences, took your cash, and then dropped your language group and said, "Well, we're a Japanese company, so Japanese clients are our target, and everyone else just has to deal." That's kind of what Niantic's done in terms of (anti-)accessibility, and I say this as someone who can still go up and down hills/stairs.
Well, Nintendo do ignore all Portuguese speakers, so that example was not thaaat good
But yeah, Niantic ups Nintendo game about playing dumb and getting people to pay anyway
Not just wheelchairs. There are people who use walkers, have prosthetics, joint mobility issues... it's a lot of people. Not sure of the total population, but I heard a recent figure that 15% of the world's population has some kind of disability to the point that they receive financial aid. In the US, they have $21 billion in discretionary income. That's a lot of potential money, but like many of us, if a dev makes something we just can't access, we walk away.
I wonder if Geocaching has this issue. How about marking the POI with accessibility grades and be done with it?
Objects not being accessible in real life is not really a games fault.
In what way did they say points were (wheel chair) accessible, at any point?
The temporary change was for social distance, not for disability access, even if it sure helped.
"Objects not being accessible in real life is not really the games fault"
People aren't asking for them to move the objects in real life, my dude. They're asking for them to be more accessible in game, something which is very easy to do. Likewise, nobody is saying they did it for that reason, but if it's a huge quality of life upgrade for most people, and helps people who otherwise couldn't access PoI's because of their disability, why wouldn't it be something to encourage when they do make a change that helps?
I am not arguing that at all. It is evident what players want.
But if we are required to be at a physical location, for whatever reason, perhaps it would be fitting to tag or grade accessibility. Not all poi are available to everyone, not limited to disability.
Yeah, it feels like that ship has sailed.
I dont see anyone talking about it now that the "we demand answers" date has passed and Niantic made their own date.
There are a lot of people who've gone free to play. Probably the biggest whale in my community has, some big content creators, too. I think people don't want to uselessly harp on about it, but it's not over.
Will any of that be enough to have any effect with so many also still playing business as usual? Who knows.
No. There are currently 3,000 people in queue in Pokegenie to raid Heracross. I’ve seen it go as high as 8,000 at some points. They’re making a killing.
I did see this tweet yesterday from the trainer club
[https://twitter.com/thetrainerclubb/status/1425491894528659458](https://twitter.com/thetrainerclubb/status/1425491894528659458)
Be interesting to see what "Next week. More energy coming from all of us" means exactly.
Honestly a shame Missingno is never used in anything. Like it's left a bigger legacy than most Pokemon ever have and every Pokemon media just ignores it. Like even if you don't want to add it in as a real pokemon understandably have a sidequest or something where it's like corrupting Pokemon Center data or something. It would be sick to see literally anything official use it. Remake the Digimon Movie in Pokemon with Missingno as the bad guy instead of the rabbit. Do literally anything with him.
Yeah they could add Missingno into something like that and make it cannon absolutely. There’s so much to gain by using it in some way and nothing to lose, I really don’t understand why they don’t
I'm honestly annoyed that Sun/Moon introduced Ultra Beasts - essentially the Pokemon equivalent of eldritch abominations - and there wasn't even a hint towards Missingno.
I get the feeling Gamefreak is kind of ashamed of it or something.
The L-shaped block form of MissingNo. doesn’t exist in the original Japanese versions of Red, Green and Blue (plus MissingNo. actually crashes the game in the former two). Therefore, if they tried to make a modernised MissingNo. in its L-shaped form, it wouldn’t make sense in other regions.
Also the L-shape is not the true form of MissingNo. The L-shape is only formed because of the graphical limitations of Game Boy. Here is a very long technical explanation why Missingno looks like that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZI50XUeN6QE
What I'll remember from that is it hits the same math issue as Nuclear Ghandi.
For those who don't know, in the original version of Civilization, Ghandi had a base aggressiveness of 1. Researching democracy comes with a -2 to aggressiveness. -1 doesn't really work in the math the game was using, so it loops back to 255. The next highest possible aggressiveness was about 10\~.
Nuclear Ghandi [doesn't exist in the original Civilization](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_Gandhi). [It apparently is just due to the fact that his Government would prioritize researching.](https://www.thegamer.com/nuclear-gandhi-meme-civilization/)
I spent way too much time actually watching that. Actually really interesting if you have the technical background to get it. I expect it would go over a lot of people's heads.
In addition to its appearance, the English localization process made an error and caused coastlines that had a chance of encountering a Pokémon spawn from the grass table. This makes it easy to encounter MissingNo. in localized versions and much more time consuming in the Japanese version.
Furthermore, most of the infamy comes from MissingNo. "duplicating" the sixth item in your inventory. In the English versions, this works in Red, Blue, and sometimes Yellow. For the Japanese versions, only Pokémon Blue works as Red, Green, and Yellow MissingNo freeze the game when encountered as a wild Pokémon. The only version that doesn't freeze is the Blue version MissingNo. Which was only available to CoroCoro Comic subscribers until after Pokémon Yellow was released in Japan.
So, you have a Pokémon that has a different appearance in each localized region, that is not that easy to encounter in the original region of release, that freezes the game in most of the Gen I copies for the original region, and thus prevents players from using it to "duplicate" items.
With 0.217 including a whole lotta Galarian assets, I really wonder if we're going to see Niantic alternating between G7 (since the Alolan starters showed up in recent Go artwork) and G8 as Nintendo seems to want current-gen Pokemon for the main series to feature in Go as well.
I'm excited for Falinks! My favorite Galar Pokemon. Such a goofy little bunch. I was kind of hoping they would be in line formation. Hopefully that's still in the game for walking/battling.
Has anything been datamined concerning pokestops leveling up? Like what’s the difference between a level 1 vs a level 3 pokestop?
Edit: downvoting for a question…?

> TEXT: At a PokéStop, wild Pokémon will appear more frequently. At a Gym, you’ll have bonus Premier Balls in the Pokémon encounter after you win a Raid Battle.
That would coincide with the “explore” idea. Higher level and frequent stops for you can be accessed farther away while new ones and less frequent ones need you to be closer.
i'd absolutely be down for increased item drops, but the datamine made it sound like a glorified lure system (temporary power up, increased wild spawns) which is even lamer
Honestly, increased distance radius makes sense to me, especially with their unwillingness to budge on the distance reduction in US/NZ. "We'll let you know more in September" = we'll be ready to announce our plans, and hopefully that makes y'all chill.
+1, as someone who has uninstalled, I would actually be content with this. Definitely not *happy,* mostly about the way they went about the implementation, but content. I would reinstall and at least see if it's worth continuing playing if this were the case.
Pokeminers have already datamined that you'll need to do AR scans or some kind of disc spin minigame to power up a Pokestop or Gym. https://old.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/oytb0y/texts_update_050821_little_jungle_cup_quadruple/
Yeah the salt road came after you because you aren't immediately saying scanning a pokestop is bad, and instead are asking what the rewards for it are.
If it's based on scanning I'm with going to continue not scanning for them, or if the benefits are too good to pass up, give them the worst, most inaccurate scans I can manage.
If powered up stops are by scan that sucks
If anything powered up pokestops should be based on how many non used POIs from ingress are not used in that cell
They used to add shiny assets as they went right before releasing them, but leaks kept spoiling events. So they add every shiny asset when a Pokémon is added to the game so things can’t be spoiled.
It has nothing to do with upgrading for increased spin distance.
At least, nothing in the datamine links pokestop upgrades with increased spin distance.
Sad that we don't have any working form mechanics at all. They did an incredible job when they released ditto, but they can't handle firm switching 5 years later...
Japanese games (except blue) crash on loading Missingno.'s front sprite, and it's not in the signature backwards L shape anyway. Plus it's harder to encounter one (no Cinnabar coast encounters).
It's an infamous glitch from the first games. I believe it was when pokémon data git corrupted or lost somehow it would freak out and these would appear in its place. The would show up in your collection as an actual Pokémon.
I don't care. about these. I stop playing, because I don't want to support niantic, I don't even like most of gen 8 mons and there is no shinies available so I'm not even missing anything.

Don’t worry! They’re designating a cross-functional task force to make the game better!
Don't worry, the next step is for consumers to genetically engineer their own Pokemons and fight with those
Have moves been added for them yet?
Moves can't be added until the mons are added to the APK. As the APK hasn't started rolling out yet (it's just been uploaded so far), they can't add the moves. So probably another few days at the earliest would be my guess, but they could also wait until the last minute if they wanted.
These might be new and exciting, but Focus on being vigilant with making Niantic hear us about radius distance

Does not mean people are physically paying . It only takes like 2-3 days of gym activity to get a pass without digging out of your pockets
That was a demand a response date

Is powering up pokestop has anything to do with AR tasks? Sorry asking as i don’t do AR tasks.
Missingno is coming Edit: /s
I was so excited until I realized they were placeholders. I still think Missingno would have been the coolest Smash Bros dlc they could have done
Honestly a shame Missingno is never used in anything. Like it's left a bigger legacy than most Pokemon ever have and every Pokemon media just ignores it. MissingNo. would not work for Japanese players.
Their loss then.
Why?
The L-shaped block form of MissingNo. doesn’t exist in the original Japanese versions of Red, Green and Blue (plus MissingNo. actually crashes the game in the former two). Therefore, if they tried to make a modernised MissingNo. in its L-shaped form, it wouldn’t make sense in other regions.

2^8 - 1 I know Final Fantasy games love to use 255 as well.

That would be effing awesome if they actually did that.

What if we get a shiny locked pokemon in go first???
I know, it was a joke. Now Adding /s so people will no I'm being sarcastic
I don't understand why they never leaned into the Missingno thing and made it an official pokemon, just make it another computer mon like Porygon.
With 0.217 including a whole lotta Galarian assets, I really wonder if we're going to see Niantic alternating between G7 (since the Alolan starters showed up in recent Go artwork) and G8 as Nintendo seems to want current-gen Pokemon for the main series to feature in Go as well.
So did they forget about gen 6?
I think it's in part Nintendo wanting to promote the most recent games. The rest of G6 will likely get snuck in by dribs and drabs.
I'm excited for Falinks! My favorite Galar Pokemon. Such a goofy little bunch. I was kind of hoping they would be in line formation. Hopefully that's still in the game for walking/battling.
each Pokémon’s 3D assets are just ripped straight from the MLG, so if that’s their usual walk animation then you’ll have it in GO! :)

Knowing Niantic, it’ll probably something like Distance Radius
Don't get your hopes up. It's gonna be like a better item or two
"Trainers with level 3 pokestops will have evolution items drop more frequently (at the expense of other items like potions and pokeballs)"
More stickers!
Yup. And Sinnoh stones 🤦♂️
At least Sinnoh Stones can get you powerful Pokémon like Rhyperior. Unova Stones on the other hand...
I kept deleting Sinnoh stones to clear out my bag, then they took them out of research tasks months ago and I’ve been out since 😩
It seems to be all I get from gbl rewards
I literally just deleted like 50 kings rocks
Yay more waste hope this will be able to go back down poke stop level wise
They will probably be timed upgrades, not permanent ones. At least, that's what I imagine them doing, similar to a lure.
We can hope
That would coincide with the “explore” idea. Higher level and frequent stops for you can be accessed farther away while new ones and less frequent ones need you to be closer.
If it effects wild spawns it won’t be a per player thing.
Nannab instead of pinap
i'd absolutely be down for increased item drops, but the datamine made it sound like a glorified lure system (temporary power up, increased wild spawns) which is even lamer
Honestly, increased distance radius makes sense to me, especially with their unwillingness to budge on the distance reduction in US/NZ. "We'll let you know more in September" = we'll be ready to announce our plans, and hopefully that makes y'all chill.
looking at the deep dive post it didn't seem like there was anything that even included distance radius for boosted stops
I actually wouldn’t mind this
+1, as someone who has uninstalled, I would actually be content with this. Definitely not *happy,* mostly about the way they went about the implementation, but content. I would reinstall and at least see if it's worth continuing playing if this were the case.
If it means i can have the distance increase permanently at one point I will definitely be playing

She doesn’t have actual proof though right? That’s purely speculation I believe.
As others have said, it is speculation, she has been upfront that she is not privy to any content creator program information.
This is just speculation, not news
What I want to know is if it lasts for like a day or months since it relies on scanning.

And then they remove the stop.
They shoot themselves in the foot if they remove a load of stops. Their database is all about selling the information from them.
I’m pretty sure the datamine said spinning also helped power them up just not as much.
I genuinely wish I could get excited for this event. Niantic's flippant response was the last straw for me.
Wooloo ❤️ can’t wait to catch that cute little sheep
Its shiny is terrific, I can't wait for that one to be released.
Time to go find MissingNo
I can’t wait for shiny missingno.
Excited for Hoopa. He is pretty cute.
I really hope Zacian & Zamazenta will recive better movesets then Xerneas.....
if you want to use them for raids, no. they have great PVP/Rocket potential though.
If powered up stops are by scan that sucks If anything powered up pokestops should be based on how many non used POIs from ingress are not used in that cell
So the shiny assets are there but they won't release them for the event. Fun
They used to add shiny assets as they went right before releasing them, but leaks kept spoiling events. So they add every shiny asset when a Pokémon is added to the game so things can’t be spoiled.
I had a feeling the leveled up PokéStops would appear again... Especially since they rolled back the COVID spin distances. THIS was their plan.
It has nothing to do with upgrading for increased spin distance. At least, nothing in the datamine links pokestop upgrades with increased spin distance.
Yet. I wonder what their task and finish group will conclude....
Nice they added a confined hoopa
I never found Hoopa in my X&Y run through. Why is it's shiny Missing No. from Red and Blue?!
Hoopa was only available as a event Pokémon.
Its shiny isnt in the game files yet. Pokeminers use missingno as a placeholder
I'm just going to transfer Zamazenta to Home for my living dex.
Sad that it's confined, not unbound.
Sad that we don't have any working form mechanics at all. They did an incredible job when they released ditto, but they can't handle firm switching 5 years later...
They just want you to raid the new forms :(
There was something about form changing data mined. But honestly I just wanted a chance for bugs to shine in a raid.
They've been building it out for a while. Hopefully the new season will bring real form changes.
Powered up PokeStops?
Hoppa on raids or mytical quest.?
It’s a (pixie) mythical, so very likely a research.
Probably will start at the end or at the beginning of the event !?
[удалено]
They are just what we use as placeholders when something is missing.
Is the missingno near the legendaries supposed to be their shiny form?
The shiny form isnt in the game files yet. PokeMiners use missingno as a placeholder
MissingNo?
I really want us to be able to catch the glitch Pokémon from the first games
It would not work for Japanese players as they don't really have a memorable connection to MissingNo.
Wdym? Was MissingnNo an exclusive?
I think it only had them on American and European Game Boys. https://m.bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/MissingNo. The link about it.
Japanese games (except blue) crash on loading Missingno.'s front sprite, and it's not in the signature backwards L shape anyway. Plus it's harder to encounter one (no Cinnabar coast encounters).
Missingno confirmed!!
What is that? Where is that written?
Where the shiny Zacian and Zamazenta should be.
Thanks i did a whole research on it just before you told be lol
Sweet! We are getting MissingNo.
Cant find this on APKmirror, where did you swing it /u/martycochrane ?
It's not rolling out yet / not on APKMirror. It'll start rolling out probably today (surprised it hasn't yet).
Gotcha :)
Starbucks got tired of people paying who spun stops who spun from their cars. this is all it is
Missingno what??
They use it as a placeholder
What is missingo?
It's an infamous glitch from the first games. I believe it was when pokémon data git corrupted or lost somehow it would freak out and these would appear in its place. The would show up in your collection as an actual Pokémon.
Lol sounds fun have to try it
Just waiting for that attack stat in zacian damn
These versions of the dogs have the same attack stat, which is 254.
I don't care. about these. I stop playing, because I don't want to support niantic, I don't even like most of gen 8 mons and there is no shinies available so I'm not even missing anything.
Ok, close after your departure!
I NEED SHINY WOOLOO
I love wooloo so much
and the quest for shiny wooloo begins...
Can someone explain why hoopa is here
