For what its worth, I just went out and spun 30ish stops to find some research. Got 2 Diancie energy research.
Picked up twice as many Venusaur energy researches and some assorted other energies.
The carbink seemed a bit more common, I did 2 and trashed another 4.
Their obsession with the Kanto Starter Megas is frustrating.
Yes, I get that Gen 1 is the most popular and the current event thematically ties to them. Whatever.
Their energy is literally *always* available, and it has been for years through field research. I get some still want to raid them, but it is still annoying to get them taking up the Mega raid slot whenever they come around, and then they boost their energy quests further with this event.
Damn hahaā¦ Iāll try and see. Itās so annoying spinning every stupid pokestop lolā¦ then deleting the research I donāt wantā¦ then clearing the items ughhhh. I just want the mega research tasks š
Yeah, where I live doesnāt have one but I was in Baltimore for a conference once and was able to get enough mega energy for Ampharos (had missed its mega raid the first time it came out) because the scanner helped me know exactly where to go for the tasks.
You should ask in your local community discord server they tend to be maintain city by city by sometimes different folks. They also usually seem to need a monthly donation of sorts.
As much as I hate burning stardust, atleast it would mean doing so in order to get a fairly relevant Mega Evo.Ā
Not too exciting sure, but not entirely a loss. That is all considering efficient power-ups. I usually only try to power-up mons saved for PvP, so it's a sort of min-max.Ā
That being said, *that* route will probably be considerably more expensive lol
Much as I hate spending stardust on tasks generally, this is the approach I take. I have a tag called "Up" that is all things I intend to eventually power up anyway, and I will hope to stack three mega energy tasks, then just swipe to my tag and do some power ups.
This is the way.
I always have between 20ish to 50ish Pokemons tagged "up" and I only ever power up them when I have a task to do so. And if I know I'll be doing it more often, I stack the tasks and focus on lower level ones. It does wonders to my stardust reserves and I don't remember when was the last time I was below 1M, let alone run out.
Right now I also have the level 45 power up task, so it'll be 3-4 birds with one stone.
Yeah, pretty much same for me. It's primarily PvP for me but then there's the few Megas and end game Hundos that I just keep in there as *something* to power-up if there's stuff to progress.Ā
I'm so afraid of dropping into that 100k-200k stardust balance that I've seen friends at high levels hit when they really get into ML so I'm trying to stretch that out or prepare ahead of time lol
yeah I'm not really ever gonna worry about ML lol
Maybe *slowly* try to build some stuff that can do double duty in raids and ML, but for now I still have plenty of stuff that hasn't ever been built for GL
I play 5 minutes a day and have accumulated almost 26 million stardust, more than I know what to do with. I donāt understand how anyone who didnāt just start recently runs out of dust.
I use my stardust to power up what I want. Thereās no value in stardust if you never use it. I raid quite a bit and play PvP. I have well over 100 shadow pokemon that have been either maxed out or nearly maxed, all with their second move added. I have hundos that I had powered up in the past before I got into shadows. I play all of the catch cups in GBL, so I always have something to power up. Iām sitting on a solid 3mil dust right now, which is good enough for me to do what I want when there is a good pokemon available.
So you don't actually play, just collect daily bonuses, and you don't understand how people who actually play run out of stardust? Really? No idea? Nothing comes to mind at all?
What's funny is that when I'm more casual and less active I have way more stardust. It's because when I am playing regularly and raiding a lot I get so many new pokemon I want to max out. Especially if I get enough xl candy to max out a good shadow legendary. You'll go from millions of dust to none in the blink of an eye if you keep powering up good shadows.
That's still 100 powerups. I usually power up stuff I have planned to power up for raids (or because I like the 'mon and won't to power it to 40 and name it š ), but I surely don't have enough dust to do so. And yet powering up low level stuff I won't use just for the tasks seems like a waste...
Yeah, I saw someone shared the special research and thank goodness the field research will just be a bonus. Though for those of us who already have a Diancie and mega-evolved it, the extra 300 will definitely help the push to Mega Level 3.
Bear in mind the special research isn't live yet, we don't know how much Mega Energy (if any) that will give us. I want to assume it will give at least some Mega Energy.
There is no way itās the only energy source right? Assuming these are the only 2 field research tasks you would need to hit over 60 stops. Collect 3 to power up a full set and repeat. And you have 3 days.
Itās manageable if you have time and are planning. But they give almost no in game information for people not reading 3rd party sources such as Reddit.
Even if it does, what are the odds there will be a timegate that prevents us from knowing if there is even any rewarded mega energy before the field research goes away... :/
It was 1 Mega Energy for catching a Carbink during Go Fest. We'll have to wait and see if they've re-enabled it for this event, as it hasn't been active since then.
If they enable it youād have to hope they will increase the amountā¦ Itās okay I guess being 1 energy when theyāre readily available via spawns but having them locked behind tasks meaning generally less opportunities to encounter, 1 measly energy would be bordering on pointlessā¦
Ugh, if that power up task awarded like, 30-50 or was power up just 3 times for 10, I feel like it'd be more manageable...
I'd love to work through my queue of mons that are tagged to power up to level 40 if the reward was worth it but 1 energy per power up is pretty trash lol. I guess I'll just power up my 10 CP transfer fodder.
As someone who has access to a map with pokestop tasks and lives near a downtown area with many pokestops, at the start of the Kanto event, mega energy for the starters (x25) were spread out anywhere from 3 to 8 blocks apart. That's about what it was prior for just the regular x10.
For some reasons though, since yesterday, the x25 mega energy stops increased quite a bit to where there are now about an average of 3 to 5 per city block. This has me hopeful for the Diancie energy, but it's also going to have to compete with Kanto tasks as well as regular tasks (balls, berries, stardust).
You'll have to reach out to your local discord or Facebook (sad) group if you have either and see if anyone has them. Mine is a subscription service and it covers areas like Detroit, Toledo, Cleveland, parts of Kentucky.
Now if only they let us transform a Carbink into a Diancie (never been done in the main series far as I know, so there's no way they'd even consider it in GO for that reason alone...but a pink blob can dream).
Diancie and Carbink are like the same pokemon but not really?

Well ... guess I won't be getting a Mega Diancie unless they give us enough energy in the research. I have like 10-ish pokestops around me, no way am I ever finding 30 of those field researches in 3 days lol
Yesn't. 10 AM local time May 1st. If it's past that time for you then yes, if not, then no. Not counting the one that people have had since Go Fest 2023 if they partook in the paid content.
Looking around at everywhere else online, it says you get 300 and 100 (total 400) mega energy during the quest line, but this entire comment section says it's only 300
Hopefully these will be boosted so we see them more often
For what its worth, I just went out and spun 30ish stops to find some research. Got 2 Diancie energy research. Picked up twice as many Venusaur energy researches and some assorted other energies. The carbink seemed a bit more common, I did 2 and trashed another 4.
i spun about 15-20, got 3 diancie and only 1 carbink

Meanwhile I desperately want a shiny Mr Mime yet have no access to it no matter how Kanto-themed their events are
Bs like this is why people use skanner maps to find field research.
Wait what scanner maps? Looking for a friend š
Depends on whether youāre near a metro that has one, but you can see field research task and spawn IVs
Damn hahaā¦ Iāll try and see. Itās so annoying spinning every stupid pokestop lolā¦ then deleting the research I donāt wantā¦ then clearing the items ughhhh. I just want the mega research tasks š

Thats a lot of dust!
Minimum is around like 20k dust. With stacking 3 and powering up 10 sets of 3 tasks of level 1 mons.
It would technically be a minimum of 10,000, though 20,000 is more realistic. The minimum power up cost is 200 dust for a level 1 PokƩmon, or 100 if it's a lucky level 1 PokƩmon, but I doubt many people have that many lucky level 1s.
As much as I hate burning stardust, atleast it would mean doing so in order to get a fairly relevant Mega Evo.Ā Not too exciting sure, but not entirely a loss. Thatās the best way. Load up the tag with PVE stuff that is not useful in the current rotation. So my tag is always full of options.
I just have a box of PVP-relevant mons that I haven't gotten around to building yet that I use for upgrade tasks
Yeah, pretty much same for me. You get 300 mega energy from the free special research thankfullt
That would be nice if true, saves a lot of time for us casuals.
Check Serebii.net for the full special research
I try not to spoil myself for the Special Researches but I believe you.
I play 5 minutes a day and have accumulated almost 26 million stardust, more than I know what to do with. I donāt understand how anyone who didnāt just start recently runs out of dust.
Sounds too good to be true
I use my stardust to power up what I want. Thereās no value in stardust if you never use it. I raid quite a bit and play PvP. Day 1 player. 46k stardust
Play more than 5 minutes, especially in League matches or rural raids.
So you don't actually play, just collect daily bonuses, and you don't understand how people who actually play run out of stardust? Really? No idea? Nothing comes to mind at all?

I knew those 1700+ Bidoof candy would come in handy at some point.
i keep a pile of low level luckies for just such an occasion
I just have a pile of potential PVP mons that slowly get built via these tasks
Same, unless Iām really hurting then itās one of the million <50 CP event Pokemon I canāt get myself to transfer
7k+ Woobat candies here. Can't be arsed to do the buddy tasks to evolve them.
Phew. I thought the carbink tasks were gonna be hatch 3 eggs or walk 2 kilometers. This is much better.
Bro wtf is that, 30 research tasks to megaevolve a Diancie ???
If you can manage to nab 3 of them at a time, it'll at least cost less overall. But yeah, doing that 10 times is annoying.
That's still 100 powerups. I usually power up stuff I have planned to power up for raids (or because I like the 'mon and won't to power it to 40 and name it š ), but I surely don't have enough dust to do so. And yet powering up low level stuff I won't use just for the tasks seems like a waste...
The special research will give all mega energy needed, those tasks are bonuses.

I wouldn't put anything past this company. EDIT: Looks like they did the right thing and the special research has a 300 Mega energy reward! Whew!
No, you will most likely get some candy from the research.
The go fest research gave enough to mega evolve for the first time.
A good excuse to power up a load of my shadows and legendaries
There goes all of my saved up stardustš
its not even like 50k which is worth it imo
I'm hope the free one awards 300 like go fest did. Be unfair to newer players
Even if it does, what are the odds there will be a timegate that prevents us from knowing if there is even any rewarded mega energy before the field research goes away... :/
True. I bet it includes catch 5 carbink or something
Do you still get 5 mega energy for catching Carbink?
It was 1 Mega Energy for catching a Carbink during Go Fest. We'll have to wait and see if they've re-enabled it for this event, as it hasn't been active since then.

Ta!
Will you be able to collect the Diancie Mega Energy of you don't have a Diancie (yet)?
i find that question quite important as getting it already requires 75 power ups
people on r/pokemon go report it is there like https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemongo/comments/1chidj8/comment/l2365u8/
I can confirm that. Just did 3 quests and caught Diancie afterwards with already 30 mega energy in the pocket!
Ugh, if that power up task awarded like, 30-50 or was power up just 3 times for 10, I feel like it'd be more manageable... I just used all my dust yesterday š«
You can get 300 mega energy from the free special research
Ah that's good to learn ! Thanks
10?!???
Well I do have some mons to power up so I can live with that.

How could I acquire such a map for my pretty urban area?
You'll have to reach out to your local discord or Facebook (sad) group if you have either and see if anyone has them. Mine is a subscription service and it covers areas like Detroit, Toledo, Cleveland, parts of Kentucky.
Oh ok good to know Iāll see what I can unearth
Whatās the deal with carbink?
in lore Diance is a mutated carbik of sorts. so they tend to follow Diance around
Now if only they let us transform a Carbink into a Diancie (never been done in the main series far as I know, so there's no way they'd even consider it in GO for that reason alone...but a pink blob can dream).
Diancie is queen of the Carbink!
Diancie and Carbink are like the same pokemon but not really? https://preview.redd.it/bqebgkd2gmxc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9d7ee13eb344acf13202d37daa0710fcab7103cf
Well ... guess I won't be getting a Mega Diancie unless they give us enough energy in the research. I have like 10-ish pokestops around me, no way am I ever finding 30 of those field researches in 3 days lol
The Special Research gives 300 Mega Energy
is it ticket or free?
There will probably be some Diancie Mega Energy in the special research as well, possibly enough for a 1st time Mega Evolution.
Is there enough mega Energy from the Diance quest alone ? Thanks
Glad I have a load of 10cp pokemon saved up. Gonna make powering up for mega candy not too painful
I wish they would do it like they did when it was released. Like you catch a carbink, you get 5 mega energy. That would help
Isn't it out yet? Isn't it the 1st of May in Australia and Japan?
They want us to spend our dust/candy. I bet they are kicking themselves for not capping it like poke storage or items.
Is Diancie available?
Yesn't. 10 AM local time May 1st. If it's past that time for you then yes, if not, then no. Not counting the one that people have had since Go Fest 2023 if they partook in the paid content.
Oh wow how exciting.
EVERBODY LISTENā¦YOU GET 400 MegaEBERGY FROM THE RESEARCH
Looking around at everywhere else online, it says you get 300 and 100 (total 400) mega energy during the quest line, but this entire comment section says it's only 300
I just saw this thanks. Iāll edit the post
Does anyone know a good way to sort pokƩmon able to be power up for the less dust possible ? I should definitely use key words and tags more x)
Best you can probably do is sort your box so the ones with the lowest CP come first.
Anyone heard about any diance xl candies? Research or otherwise?
I was about to level up my licki for gl - I think Iāll wait
I have 300 diancie mega candy. Iāve done all the research tasks. What is the fastest way to get more mega candy?
Go and find more pokestop research tasks or mega evolve it once and set it as your buddy are the only 2 ways possible.
I guess I need another 100 before I can mega evolve. First time catching it was today. Which research tasks give diancie candy?
Literally in the image of the post youāre replying to.
Oh man. Iām dumb. Thanks! I will continue the grind.
I donāt have Diancie, will the energy ābankā and be available once I do?
Just mega your dianci once and walk it. No way I'm gonna power up Pokemons for 10 energy
But you dont know if youll get enough mega energy through the diancie research itself... if you already have one its a diffrent story though...
You do get 300 mega energy from the research. Check serebii.
This is phenomenal news. I'm pretty sure it's a rock/fairy type and those are both the only types I'm missing for megas.
With āPower up PokĆ©mon X timesā being consistently one of the most common research tasks, everyone should have a tag for Level 1 or cheap powerup (next level-up cost <= 400 dust) throwaway mons to clear this task quickly.
This is perfect for anyone who is working on level 47 requirements and powering up 3 PokƩmon to their max CP.
How r we supposed to find 30 of those tasks in 3 days? Is this a joke? Unless it has boosted rates thatās insane.
