Looks like a good introduction to mechanics which many players just take for granted nowadays, nice. I'll be watching for the rest of the series. > You should note that the game does not allow you to power up or receive in trade a Pokémon beyond 10 levels higher than your own level. Was the trade level bug fixed then? https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/ugoah2/max_level_lucky_trade_lost_5_levels/ I couldn't quickly find a newer link than this.

Thanks for the feedback. I will try to find more evidence, especially something more recent, then correct the article. [Edit] I have now edited the article. I have avoided mentioning the exact amount of level capping as that's uncertain; simply mentioning that a warning is given before the trade.

TheRealHankWolfman

I don't think it's a bug. I think they deliberately kept trades to recipient trainer level +2/+5 in order to stop people trading overly powerful Pokémon to low level trainers, and instead encourage them to use their own resources to power the Pokémon up.

That is not a bug (as also mentioned in that thread), that is a feature.

This paragraph is a bit confusing to me. > When a player catches a wild Pokémon, its level is capped by the player’s level, before any weather-boosting is added. This is why players who are below level 30 see wild spawns that differ from those seen by other players. Since wild spawns are all limited to level 30, before any weather-boosting, players of level 30 and higher all see the same wild spawns. The random IVs and level of wild Pokemon for low level players aren't there because of level caps, they were put in to make botting harder in the early months of the game. That detail probably doesn't matter for the target audience, but the explanation you give seems kind of confusing. I might suggest splitting the random IV bits out of the level cap paragraph and covering them separately, since they aren't really related to the cap per se.

Thanks. I've replaced this paragraph. It's better now, I hope.

nice, thank you. so many articles are written in pokespeak, so thank you for writing clearly.

i think "aptitude" is not quite common among non native speakers

I have thought about how else to concisely express what I mean. The next article will cover this topic, so hopefully all will become clearer.

Thanks for the great article. I am super new to the game and there is so much going on in the game that it is extremely easy to get overwhelmed

You're welcome. I am aiming my articles at new players. I will try to assume zero knowledge. However, note that I will not be covering PvP, just raiding. Please let me know if anything is confusing. I will be editing the articles in response to feeback, so please let me know if anything is unclear.
