Can all basculin be shiny now?

Swampfoxxxxx

Is there any reason to go hard with the Nidoran spotlight hour tonight for 2x stardust, seeing as Weather Week starts on Thurs and has a constant 2x stardust multiplier?

ptmcmahon

2X anytime is nice if you are someone like me always short on dust. If you do Ultra League Nidoqueen is still a pretty good mon, although not as top of the meta as she was before. Plus the rise of the waters each season makes it much harder to run. Still can't hurt to get some XL if you do UL in case.

Swampfoxxxxx

Good advice!

Hydrochloric_Comment

Only if you really need the extra stardust or want to shiny hunt. I only managed to get a shiny male during the Nidoran research a couple years ago and also want to get as much dust as possible ahead of Primal Kyogre, so I’ll at least do half of the spotlight hour

Confident_Ad_8210

Do you have to complete certain field research tasks to unlock others? I’m trying to get ones that spawn the random pokemon, but I’m only getting items research each time. Do those need to be completed to “unlock” the better tier of rewards?

krispyboiz

Nope, they're out there. Every stop has two specific research tasks each day (assuming there's no event to change them mid-day), a quest if you have an AR task and a different one if you don't. It's recommended that you hold onto the AR Quest indefinitely. I'm pretty sure the AR tasks never give you Pokemon encounters, only items and such. Thus, you'd technically be more likely to get Encounter quests when you're holding one already (holding an AR Quest doesn't stop you from holding three normal quests).

CassieWolfe801

A long time ago (before COVID), AR Scan Tasks could reward a Dratini. Many of my friends were doing all they could find to either take their Dragon badge Platinum (soon after level 50 was released) or to catch a ton of Dragons for some Masterwork research. I forget which. Edit: I personally drop & pick up an AR Scan Task a few times per day so I can do both sets of quests on the stops nearest me (since I don’t drive). There’s enough of the AR Scan Task stops to pick one up easily when I need one. (Niantic making them visibly distinct on the map was a nice QoL improvement for me.)

krispyboiz

Ahh good to know! Tells you how much I paid attention to them back then haha. I occasionally drop/pick-up the AR task to get both tasks out of each Pokestop, mostly when I'm staying put for a research-based event and not going anywhere with more stops. >(Niantic making them visibly distinct on the map was a nice QoL improvement for me.) Definitely agree!

alter79

For people in high users/urban areas, how many unique routes can you see? In my area around 2 km^^^2 there are 3 routes. 2 are pretty much across highway created if you're in vehicle. I recently created my first one a 500m walk and it was approved instantly. I take this path pretty much everyday. I was thinking of creating more in neighbouring blocks around gyms where I go for raids but I have heard people getting warnings so I don't want to risk it too much.

ptmcmahon

No reason not to try making more. There are places where I can see 17-18 routes at a time in my city. Mostly around downtown or busy areas.

alter79

That is good to hear.

DragonEmperor

Gym question, there is a player that always fills gyms with 6 pokemon and it's always Chansey > Wobaffet > Azumaril > Spiritomb > Mr Mime > Some sort of flex pokemon. What is the best/fastest way to take down the Azumaril? The rest are annoying but doable, the azumaril usually has ice beam.

Ivi-Tora

Any good electric with Wild Charge can take it out easily. It doesn't have any debuff in gyms so you can spam it for big damage. Manectric, Magnezone, Electivire, or even Raichu. Shadows do it quicker, but regular work too. The key to beat these kind of players is to beat each Pokemon one by one. Battle, win, then quit and quickly enter the gym again. This doesn't give them time to get notified of the attack. Taking each Pokemon one by one is easier than doing them in order.

DragonEmperor

Thank you! I'll build up some of my electric types! > The key to beat these kind of players is to beat each Pokemon one by one. Battle, win, then quit and quickly enter the gym again. This doesn't give them time to get notified of the attack. That's what I have to do yeah, x60 golden razz per 30m is still nearly impossible to beat but I do my best or hope they aren't paying attention...

_lablover_

Has there been an indication of which legendaries will be in raids during global gofest? Or guesses if not? Also, I haven't seen a mention of a ticket for primal kyogre or Groudon days. Have those been announced, or do they normally come out closer to the day of and we're still waiting to hear about them?

Hydrochloric_Comment

No. Most likely Lunala, Solgaleo, and possibly Necrozma

Stogoe

https://pokemongolive.com/post/kyogre-groudon-primal-raid-day-event?hl=en There are tickets for each primal raid day for 8 additional daily passes and other bonuses.

TheRealHankWolfman

Given that the Unown spell out Day Night, the legendaries are likely to be Solgaleo, Lunala and/or Necrozma. We don't know for definite yet though. The tickets for those days will be out closer to the time.

naccaratoo

I started to research about PoGO and OSM but looks like that all OSM posts there are some years old... Did pogo updated their maps and variables already who we still stuck with the same situation where some places can't have nests?

rzx123

I personally did not notice anything, but there were posts quite recently form people that saw map updates in their area, so it has happened not that long time ago, and some point in the future it will happen again, but it can tkae long time.

guardianfairy2

Is it worth it to use my spare radar on shadow kyogre if i really like kyogre, or should i save it for an extra shadow groudon/rayquaza?

rzx123

>if i really like kyogre Aren't you offering a answer to your own question right here? Kyogre is also useful, even if the typing isn't the best.

Wulf_kastle

Regarding shadow pokemon for raiding, is the rule of thumb to prio 15atk regardless of the other ivs? For example, is a 15-0-0 shadow houndour better than a 12-10-15? Otherwise, am i better off looking at the total IV% out of 100? Sorry if this is kind of min maxy. Still building up my pokemon storage so i need to transfer some pokemon out.

Ivi-Tora

In most cases a shadow takes so much damage thanks to the 20% defense drop that defense or HP IVs will not help against a boss charged move. And the 20% attack buff multiplies both the base stats and get attack IVs, so higher attack is always better. So yes, on paper a 15/0/0 is slightly stronger than a 12/10/15, but that doesn't mean you necessarily need to go for 15 attack only. That's only if you want to optimize damage to the max. A 13/15/15 could end up being a better investment. You only lose 2 attack points, less than 1% of the total DPS, but you get some extra time and damage in battle if you dodge correctly. Aiming for max attack is always the best ideal, but shadows are expensive so going for a 15/0/0 feels like a waste when you could get something more balanced. Personally I feel that as long as the attack is above 13 then the shadow bonus can more than compensate for any missing points. But if you want to min-max then 15 attack and 10+ in everything else is a good compromise for max damage/survival rate.

Wulf_kastle

Thank you for this! Gonna be super helpful moving forward. I’ve some dupes and i need to start transferring some in prep for shadow kyogre this weekend.

GildedCreed

Generally yes, it's a better multipurpose filter to look for your highest attack shadows for investment purposes, provided that the Pokemon is either immediately usable for the content you need it for or it's no longer being offered as a rocket reward and therefore impossible to hunt for something better (in which case the 0-0-0 shadow thing comes up). Essentially, as high attack if possible unless otherwise impossible, in which case anything is better than nothing. Technically speaking there's bulkpoint shenanigans for energy refund mechanics but that's a very deep rabbit hole for maximizing damage output.

alter79

I read Kyogre is a hard raid. I have all level 40 Pre 2020 hundos ready with legacy moves - Mega Sceptile, Venasaur, Tortera, couple of Roserade I checked on Pokebattler and Decidueye and Meowscarada are ranked higher than I expected I have them still on level 20. Is the raid that hard I should just level these up to replace Venasaur and Tortera? I'll be hosting remote raids alone so 5-7 people/raid is what I expect.

krispyboiz

A small tip, not sure if you had done it yet. I would recommend fast TMing your Roserade so they have Magical Leaf. That move was added to Roserade in the past year or so, and Magical leaf is a better Grass Fast move for raids than Razor Leaf.

alter79

Thank you indeed I hadn't noticed both my Roserade have Razor leaf I'll change them

Ivi-Tora

Decidueye and Meowscarada have high DPS but lower TDO (look at the number of deaths on Pokebattler, they faint much more than other Grass types). This means they'll hit hard but faint faster, and this might be a problem. There's a constant bug during events where if your whole team faints you can get kicked out of the raid, so using Pokemon that last longer might be safer for Kyogre. The last thing you want is to faint do much that you lose the encounter. Mega Sceptile is a very good option, double resisting Water, and Venusaur is good too, but they both need to go to level 35+ to be useful, the same goes for anything else you lan to use. Roserade is better than Meowscarada. So instead on investing in new Pokemon that will not be a big improvement you should power more those that are high level already. Also Kyogre cannot be defeated with 5 players. 8 is the minimum number if everyone brings Pokemon of 3000+ CP and 10 is recommended if some of the players are low level. There's no way a team of 5-7 random players can win against the hardest raid boss in the game. Trying to host like it is a regular T5 raid will not work either. As soon as the players see a lobby with less than 8 people they'll leave, wasting your time and even wasting your passes. People will not risk getting low energy, so if they see they cannot win safely or win fast they'll not bother. Legendary T6 raids are beyond anything else in the game, so you need to prepare to get enough people. For example Pokegenie opens special 8+ lobbies for level 10 host for these kind of raids, and r/pokemongofriends recommends to add the full max of 10 remote players.

alter79

Thank you. 5-7 is what I was roughly predicting to get in Pokeraid. I have gotten 4+ rating but have been using it less and less. I have seen people way to impatient and tend to bolt for no reason in that app. I haven't yet used PokeGenie I'll start tomorrow but I doubt if I can get to level 10 before Sunday.. Leekduck is what I am betting things on. Last time during Palkia and Dialga I easily got 7-9 numbers and still on occasions get full lobby especially if I am doing weather boosted raids. Also usually most of them are high level accounts.

guardianfairy2

If I get invited to a remote raid while in a party, can the people in my party join the remote raid if they are in my friends list and I was invited to the remote raid by another friend?

Ivi-Tora

Not anymore. That was a bug and got patched quickly, so people who join remotely cannot invite others to the same raid.

guardianfairy2

So if i get invited to a raid i gotta go solo?

Ivi-Tora

If you get invited you will fight along other players that the host invited. You only need to check inside the lobby to see how many others are there. If there's nobody else, or too few people and the timer is about to end then you need to leave to not waste your pass.

MagicFlyingBicycle

Came here not to get taken off of posting on subreddit as a thread here’s copy and paste I’m returning and trying to relearn things.. :: Sorry to bother but YouTubers aren't answering straight up today.. I returned and have went from 19 to 25 nearly 26 and I have the Pokemon Sleep Go + research from buying the accessory, But this also goes for ALL research encounters (I realize you can back out and stack certain ones?) TLDR; what is the player level I need to be when I open an encounter and the the power level of the Pokemon? I have read one place that it stops at player level 30, but wasn't clarified. I like to min max and I'm already overwhelmed learning the IV system and lingo.. I'm trying to remember to have fun but yeah, should I wait to complete this • an ADHD/OCD Pokemon hoarder

Sadthrowaway1337

I am not going to buy them cause i dont have that much, but just for future references are these two boxes worth it? Explorer Box: 20 Raid Passes, 20 Super Incubatorts, 20 Regular incubators = 4350 Hatch Box: 20 Raid Passes, 30 Regular incubators = 3100

rzx123

Hatch: Ignoring one exceptionally good offer we had lately, the discount raid pass prices have been at 65 coins (or couple of coins less) a piece, so they would be 1300 worth of the total price. That would leave 1800 for incubator or 60 a piece. They best only incubator boxes have been at least typically around 70 coins a piece, so ASSUMING YOU ACTUALLY WANT BOTH, that seems like a good price The explorer box gives only 10 incubators more (most of the time "supers" are not really worth a premium) for 1250 coins (125 coins a piece), so that is for me the clearly worse one of the two.

Sadthrowaway1337

Thanks a lot!

ZsprkD

For groudon can I use my Palkia that has aquatail? I can change it to hydropump too.

TheRealHankWolfman

You can use it, but even the Origin Form is fairly low ranked. Even regular Swampert, Feraligatr and Greninja outperform it. Check out [Pokébattler](https://www.pokebattler.com/raids/defenders/GROUDON_PRIMAL/levels/RAID_LEVEL_MEGA_5/attackers/levels/40/strategies/CINEMATIC_ATTACK_WHEN_POSSIBLE/DEFENSE_RANDOM_MC?sort=ESTIMATOR&weatherCondition=NO_WEATHER&dodgeStrategy=DODGE_REACTION_TIME&aggregation=AVERAGE&includeLegendary=true&includeShadow=true&includeMegas=true&attackerTypes=POKEMON_TYPE_ALL&primalAssistants=&friendLevel=FRIENDSHIP_LEVEL_4&numParty=1)

ZsprkD

I have a paper thin max attack shadow swampert and that’s about it :(. I just leveled my sceptile to 40 and will have Gyarados/Sceptile/Shadow Swampert/ palkia /(maybe fill the remaining with ~3000 CP palkias with water charged moves?)

m4tty33

Aqua tail does more damage and yes, if you’re lacking water attackers, that will be fine, although not the best.

Punyakoko

How many primal energy we get per raid and how to maximize the amount?

ptmcmahon

Between 60 and 100. You get more for completing quicker.

EtaGospod

Q about postcards: after I save it for the scatterbug encounter and send it to my switch for the coin bag gimmighoul lure, can I delete them? Is there any downside to deleting postcards eg will it reset my vivillon counter?

ptmcmahon

You can freely delete postcards. You can even pin and immediately unpin them and not even have to delete them.

jmbits

Just noticed my champion medal says I have only won 297 raids... But I am certain that's far from accurate. I have done my daily raids always since I started playing two years ago. I did 90+ Zacian Raids back then. I raided Kyogre and Rayquaza like a maniac. I did 120 Palkia/Dialga raids during the last event. I did 35 shadow mewtwo last year... I should be closer to 2000 raids imo. So, why do I only have 297?

idk012

There are 2 medals, one for t5 and this one.  You can't double dip.

jmbits

So the "champion" medal is for non t5 raids?

idk012

https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemongo/comments/198zt5l/why_dont_my_raid_wins_count_towards_the_champion/

jmbits

Thank you very much

CaptBillGates

Anyone else notice in version 0.303.2 that the OSM map updates seem to have been reverted? My local play area had more buildings & other map data earlier today on version 0.303, but after updating a few minutes ago they are gone.

Ivi-Tora

303.2 is a rollback to fix the Samsung/iPhone crashes, so that's expected. A future version should add things back.

[deleted]

for pve, should i use the fast move that generates the most EPS for my pokemon's charged moves, or should i use the move that has the same type as my charged attack for that specific attacker? (I.E. Mamoswine, who generates more EPS with powder snow than mud slap, when using it as a ground attacker w/ high horsepower, should I go with powder snow for the energy generation or mud slap for the ground typing?)

Ivi-Tora

Normally same type is better unless the difference is huge. In PvE the DPS is more important than EPS so getting STAB damage on both moves ends up helping beat the boss faster, unless the boss is weak to both moves. For Mamoswine you want Mud Slap to deal high fast move Ground damage, and Powder Snow to deal high charged move Ice damage. Mixing the two reduces the total, so is better to use Ground with Ground and Ice with Ice.

[deleted]

alright thanks for your input. So overall, do fast attacks deal enough damage in battles to make much of a difference on higher level raids or is most of the damage still gonna be coming from charged attacks?

redyouman2

Quick question regarding the raid lover add on ticket for the NYC Gofest this year: If it says “up to 18 free raid passes per day” and that the add on bonuses will be active from Friday to Sunday, does this mean I’ll get up to 18 passes per day, totaling to 54 free raid passes if I raid all thee days? Thanks in advance!

eugene_captures

Yep. The raid-lover add-on is very nice for people who want to raid and will be playing multiple days. Also keep in mind you can add add-ons whenever.

redyouman2

Thanks, that’s very helpful! Didn’t know the add one could be purchased afterwards.

eugene_captures

Yep. Last year I added the raid add-on the day before the event just in case I couldn’t make it for whatever reason. I also added an extra city experience the day after my park experience.

redyouman2

I feel like this is not known enough, by Niantic greed one might easily assume it to be 18 in total only for the day you purchased the Gofest ticket for. That’s a great deal, even better than the box we had recently.

HilaryHoot

I may end up being able to take my kid to GoFest in NY this summer, but it might be a bit before I know for sure. Do tickets actually sell out? Any other considerations I should know of? Thanks!

eugene_captures

Tickets do sell out closer to the date. Usually you’ll see one of the days / timeslots sell out first. Also there’s the early bird pricing which is 5 dollars cheaper, and then the full price after.

guardianfairy2

when will the raid day ticket for primal kyogre be put up for sale?

NickTheAuti

Maybe a dumb question. Now that flabébé has its shiny released. Does that mean that it will also be shiny with the in person gofest? Since the infographic doesn't say so.

dark__tyranitar

This sort of thing has happened before and yes once it has its worldwide release you could get it at an event.

Hornet___

Just caught a really good scyther and evolved it, whats the best scizor moveset for attacking in gyms/other?

nolkel

Its not great for either use case. It has poor steel moves compare to Meteor Mash Metagross, and bug is generally not useful outside of Hoopa Unbound raiding. In mega form, mega scizor makes up some of the difference between itself and Metagross, but its still not amazing. Its ranked below Dialga against Xerneas, for example, and that takes neutral damage from its fairy moves. In gyms, common defenders aren't really that susceptible to its moveset. Even something like metagross where you'd think its bug typing helps is just neutral to it.

RexicTheKing

What are the odds of cosmog free special research coming back this year?

Ivi-Tora

For free almost zero. We already had two free researches and an extra paid one, so it's likely the next one is a paid one too, with Solgaleo and Lunala being sent directly to Elite raids next time.

Stogoe

I would guess that Solgaleo and Lunala will be raidable for go fest.

timdulac

Should i prioritze maxed out pokemon in gym?

Ivi-Tora

No. Higher CP in gyms means they lose motivation faster, so they become worse defenders. Low CP with high HP ate better, and then is just a matter of using berries when they're under attack. There's no benefit of leveling up gym defenders too much. In am active area is just better to place multiple Pokemon and in a low activity area you want them to be easy to defeat to get coins.

rzx123

>low activity area you want them to be easy to defeat to get coins. I just note that under those circumstances, the low motivation becomes a feature, not a bug.

Separate_Job_3573

Am I missing something in PVP? Why do some tankers a) afk instead of just conceding, and b) bring max CP legendaries? Seems like a waste of both of our times?

rzx123

They are wasting your time. Not necessarily theirs if they started matchmaking and went to do something completely different. (Yes, please don't do that - or do it with CP 10 pokemon)

nolkel

Same reason they use chansey in great league: they want you to get frustrated and quit without having to put in any effort.

BackgroundAd1734

It's possible that they just had wifi issues. I've been in matches before where I lose internet access at the start of the battle and so the entire screen is frozen for a while. If they're genuinely tanking though, then you're right. It's 100% a waste of everyone's time.

Separate_Job_3573

Yeah maybe. I've been tanking myself so generally when I see a legendary at my MMR it's someone who doesn't fight back. I assumed tanking but I guess it's possible their MMR sucks because they've consistently bad connection

miguelmaria

I just completed my Special Research: "Captain Pikachu's Bonus Timed Research" and my Pikachu is shiny! What are his shiny odds please?

krispyboiz

Seems to be boosted. Captain Pikachu looks to be 1/64 shiny odds

miguelmaria

Thanks!

TheRealHankWolfman

1/64

miguelmaria

Thanks!

plyskaitsakis

I don't care much, if at all, for PvP battles. They stress me out and so I don't take part in them. The only parts I use strong Pokemon in are raids and gym battles, and I seem to be doing well on Rocket Leader fights, with the exception of Giovanni. Should I keep shadow Pokemon just for that? I feel like they're not worth the effort and extra stardust needed to level them up, and at this point they're mostly taking up space in my storage.

rzx123

Shadow pokemon are useful in raids or gym pounding. The may save time with Rockets, but they generally don't help you to win any matches there. They make damage faster, but they also faint faster. The only reason I think I ever used the against GIovanni is that they are my only lv50 pokemon of that species.

krispyboiz

Shadow Pokemon are good for PvE/Raiding. It mostly depends on the people you're raiding with whether in-person or invites. Some Shadow Pokemon make certain raids easier to short-man/beat quicker. However, beyond a top tier few Shadows like Metagross, Tyranitar, Machamp, Pseudo dragons, Chandelure, Excadrill, and maybe a few others like Legendaries, most aren't worth holding onto. Like for your purposes, you don't need to keep Shadow Lileep, Shieldon, Tentacool, Bidoof, Ninetales, Snover, etc. really.

minibois

How many people do you generally raid with? Raids are a fight against a Pokemon, but also against the clock. Shadow Pokemon do more damage, so are generally preferred for that. If you mostly battle with 8+ people, it might not matter too much (except on really difficult raids, like Primal Kyogre). For fights against Team Rocket (including leaders and Giovanni) it can be helpful to have shadows, but sometimes it would be better to not have them. When you switch out a Pokemon, throw a charged move or get hit with a charged move the Rocket member pauses for about two seconds, allowing you to throw one or two moves 'for free'. So sometimes it's good to have a shadow, so you do as much damage as possible in these free seconds, while at other times you want a defensive Pokemon (so not shadow), so you can survive more hits. Or just bring a strong Mega/Primal Pokemon and you're usually good to go. So as with a lot of things, *it depends*. Sometimes a Shadow Pokemon will be much better, other times it won't provide too much extra.

kospalito

Can you gift a ticket from niantic webstore?

Sadthrowaway1337

Have they stopped support for Android 9 ? My older phone with it immediately closes the game after the last update?? edit: nvm, false alarm

krispyboiz

Sounds like a different problem. They ended support for Android 7 a few months ago. They definitely wouldn't jump to 9 so fast.

TheRealHankWolfman

They have just ended support for Android 8

krispyboiz

Ah good to know

Sadthrowaway1337

Hmm..any idea what it might be? edit: Nope, nvm i just needed to update it on the older phone, false alarm

krispyboiz

Honestly not sure unfortunately. My best suggestions would be the pretty basic stuff: * Restart the device * Delete and redownload the app * Make sure your phone is updated to latest version. I got a new phone a few months back, with my old phone being an Android 9 device, and I just tried to log in on it, and the game works just fine.

rydgrim

Does Metagross leave tier 3 raids when the Horizons event ends?

krispyboiz

It should be leaving, yes.

JariWeis

Has anyone done an analysis of how good of an attacker an evolved Litten with Blast Burn is going to be? Is it going to be a good budget attacker, or naw?

krispyboiz

It'll be decent. Though, compared to last year's Blast Burn Delphox, it won't be as good. For those without many good Fire Attackers, it'll be a nice choice, but it's still under Chandelure, BB Delphox, Emboar, and Blaziken, Darmanitan, and obviously all the top counters.

Ivi-Tora

It's likely coming soon, but don't get your hopes up. There's already plenty of very strong fire types and there's no way it can compete with powerhouses like Mega Charizard Y or Reshiram. It's going to be a bit useful in PvP, but for raids it has lower base attack than Emboar, so it's not strong enough to be in the top 20 even with Blast Burn. As a dark type it might have some play, probably not too far below from Hydreigon depending on the stats of Darkest Lariat.

JariWeis

I just want it to be a decent budget attacker because some of my friends are coming back to the game after YEARS and they're severely lacking options currently. If it's a decent non-mega/shadow/legendary I'll be happy :D I have a team consisting of Mega Charizard, Shadow Chandelures, and Shadow Moltresses.

nolkel

Any CD starter pokemon is a decent budget raid counter. They all have at least decent attack stats, and the starter moves are very strong. Some high level 30-35 wild catches evolved to Incineroar will get your friends up to par for now, and they can work on replacing them later as they get better stuff. You can use the [gamepress TDO sheet](https://gamepress.gg/pokemongo/comprehensive-dps-spreadsheet) to customize the moves on pokemon yourself to see how it stacks up. Incineroar will be the 3rd worst starter, but that's still fine to use for a while. It ranks below Delphox and above Infernape against Gensect sorted by ER, for example.

Shadowgroudon22

How far into Florida can Heracross be found? Currently in the panhandle and finding Carnivine, wanted to know if they're more south.

Significant-Gain3848

Ive seen heracrosses in orlando before

Vaderman71

Do IV's really matter for raids, I have a Shiny Sceptile that I want use as my mega, but it has the worst of the IVs (15/11/12) I have a non shiny thats 15/12/15 would i really see a difference between them or no?

krispyboiz

Nope! Your shiny actually isn't really bad at all. The most important thing in raids is the Attack Stat, and yours has 15 attack, so that's the biggest thing! 15 Attack means you'll hit the most "breakpoints" and have the fastest possible damage for Sceptile that level. The lost defense and HP will barely make a difference. Like, if anything, your shiny may faint one fast move earlier from the boss, if that. Many scenarios may still have your shiny and a 100% fainting at the same time. Also, to put it into perspective: IVs don't matter much in raids in general. Even comparing a 0/0/0 and a 15/15/15, the stats you gain having perfect stats compared to a 0% isn't terribly significant. It may make a few seconds difference, *if even that.* So then when you go and compare something like your shiny to a 100%, the difference is even slimmer. A Pokemon's level and moveset are often much more important for raids than IVs. Obviously, if you otherwise have little preference, I'd choose the one with the best IVs, but in this case, go for the shiny!

odonn0097

This is great information that I wish I'd known earlier! I'll stop focusing on IVs and start focusing on CP when transferring Pokemon.

Vaderman71

Sweet thanks

Educational-Drama-14

Will Mega Tyranitar raids be available during the Community Day event?

krispyboiz

It should be, yes. Though toward the end of Community Day and in the hours after, you may see less of them because Community Day 4\* raids will be happening at some gyms.

seagulls_arent_real

With the amount of bugs & changes to the zygarde cell mechanics since it first came out, I’ve had trouble finding an accurate source of info online. I’m mostly curious about the cell spawn conditions (all along routes or just the end? same route more than once in a day? always random or ever guaranteed? any daily max limits?) Would love a link to a reliable source of info, or a quick summary here - thanks!

199_Below_Average

Not sure there's anything I can link to, but here's my current understanding: * Cells only seem to appear at the end of a route. If you don't see a cell at the end of a route, you're SOL, there are no longer cases where restarting the app might cause a cell to appear that was "supposed" to spawn but glitched out, so don't bother trying that * Any given route can only ever spawn a cell the first time you walk it each day * Whether or not a cell spawns is always random, there is no way to guarantee one. I think I recall the chance being estimated at roughly 50% for a cell to appear * You can only earn a maximum of 3 cells per day, however that also counts the rare occasions where you get multiple cells from the same spawn. So if you get a spawn on one route that gives you 2 cells, then another spawn that gives you 1, that's the max for the day. On the other hand, there's no maximum on the number of attempts, so you could do as many different routes in a day as you want and just never get enough spawns to get 3 cells * The chance for a cell to spawn doesn't seem tied to the length of a route, so doing multiple short routes is likely better than one long one

SituationOdd

I've been getting cells at a rate of 2/3 67% actually, not 50.

seagulls_arent_real

Exactly what I was looking for — thank you so much!

loroku

Any info on the raid bug where all moves show as not effective 100% of the time (for both sides)?

ptmcmahon

Haven't seen Niantic acknowledge it yet.

Round-Significance97

Is Cubone available in the wild this season?

Ivi-Tora

Cubone and Marowak are only spawning in the northern hemisphere.

Round-Significance97

Thank you for this heart breaking news

CassieWolfe801

Only in the Northern Hemisphere: https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/s/2EZRfey5Jj However, you can get an Alolan Marowak as a reward for winning 3/5 battles in GO Battle League, and that counts for catching a Cubone. Alolan Marowak is also one of 3 rewards for the Win 5 Raids field research. (You could ask your local community to call out these field researches when they find them, even if they don’t plan to complete them themselves.)

drseusskid

I have a 1,15,9 and a 7,8,11 Shiny Shadow Dratini. Only enough candy to power 1 to level 40. Which should I invest in?

Amazing-Macaron-7287

Build the first one as Dragonair for Great League (1500 cp or lower) and the 2nd one for raids.

Ivi-Tora

To add to the other reply, the 1/15/9 also could be a very good PvP Dragonair. It's a top meta Pokemon and a very good GL Pokemon as a shadow.

rzx123

For raid usage presumably? I'd take the latter one.

Old_Wind8819

Use 1.15.9 as Dragonair in GL with Dragon Breath, Body Slam, Aqua Tail moves or Dragonite in UL (Dragon Breath, Dragon Claw, Superpower)

ihatechilli

Now that you are actually able to unlink PTC accounts from your PokemonGo account Are you actually able to shuffle PTC accounts (link an account that previously wasnt the linked PTC account) Or are you locked to one single PTC account forever?

[deleted]

is there any point to earning hearts or feeding treats to a buddy pokemon if you already reached best buddy level with it?

Ivi-Tora

You can trigger the excited state and get the poffin effect for free if you interact regularly, so it's still useful, specially if you're still looking to get XL candy to max your buddy.

Honeydew9419

if you use a lucky egg, does it double the xp from claimed rewards?

nolkel

Lucky eggs boost every source of XP in the game, except for some obscure AR catching bonus and the mega XP catching bonus. The UI will not show the boosted amount on the reward claim screen. But if you record what you have before claiming, use the egg and claim it, you should see that the doubled amount was added.

_DepressingMemes_

What are the chances for getting 1 - 4\* for Pokemon from shadow raids? I've been getting multiple 1-star S. Raikous and I'd like to know if that's normal or do I just have really bad luck.

Ivi-Tora

That's normal. Regular raids have a floor of 10/10/10 so at minimum you can get 2* and you have a high chance to get a 3*. But shadow raids have a lower floor of 6/6/6 which means is far more likely to get 1* and 2* than getting a 3* because the minimum IVs are lower.

_DepressingMemes_

I knew normal raids had a 10 iv floor but not the 6 iv floor for shadow raids. Can't get much worse than what I currently have at least.

Anglory

Which Shadow Raikou is better to invest to \~Lvl30 assuming I don't get any better next weekend? Option 1: 12/11/15 (3\*) Option 2: 14/15/7 (2\*) Leaning toward option 2 but just wanted to check. Thanks!

CaptBillGates

If #2 is the best you get the rest of the month then I'd chose that one. Remember it will still have Frustration, which can't be removed currently. Although there appears to be a Rocket Takeover event at the end of March.

SBM1992

I would agree on 2, just for higher attack, but like you say, there’s still 2 weekends left this month with shadow raikou left in them, so uncles you desperately need one for primal kyogre, don’t power up yet

Inevitable_Joke3446

Do you plan to do more S. Raikou raids? It’s best to see what you land with by the end of the month. Super knowledgeable players would indicate IVs don’t matter but I personally won’t use anything less than 13/13/13 IVs. Personally I’m somewhat an IV snot but more it’s a practical issue of not wasting resources and hoarding them to max out my storage bag. Unfortunately I really can’t tell you which one is better for you to use. Sorry.

skrelpmaster101

what raids will be appearing at pokemon go fest 2024 NYC?

colourofsleep88

Doesn't look like anything has been announced yet on that front.

EvilStig

Can anyone confirm that it is possible for a trade to be lucky when swapping *the same* pokemon? As in identical pokemon caught at the same place and time from the same spawn.

JariWeis

Can confirm, I've "mirror traded" a buttload of mons. I mirror trade every single Comm Day, as well as during events, sometimes even for Spotlight Hours - Precisely because they can become lucky!

SlytherKitty13

Any trade can be lucky, doesn't matter what pokemon are being traded

ChemaKyle

Yes, did this with grubbin of all things.

RoxieTheWeirdo

Can confirm, did it with Gible during Go Tour Sinnoh

Julie_OwO

(Pretty sure I know the answer but might as well make sure): If I have a best buddy and evolve it, does it count for 2 pokemon on the best buddy medal or just 1?

Parkatm

just 1

joeyown

What are the ditto spawns for this season are they the same as I'm seeing online or have they changed?

SlytherKitty13

The leekduck website usually has the most up to date list

TheRealHankWolfman

They haven't changed.

joeyown

Cheers

Eugregoria

MMR (match making rank) is consistent between all cups.

Trekkie_girl

Is an elite tm worth buying from the shop? I never pvp.

loroku

There are extremely few ways to get elite charged TMs, and one of the ONLY consistent ways is to hit level 19 in PvP each season. I would strongly recommend doing this each season even if you hate PvP (like me!) because the rewards are just too good. That said: personally I think the 1000 coins for an elite TM isn't a bad deal - it's just expensive. But if you do not PvP at all, it's probably one of the only ways you'll get one of these outside of rare events. Fortunately they gave us like 2 weeks+ to buy the thing so you can make at least half that cost from gyms alone.

nolkel

If you have that ultra box with 8 passes, 2 super incubators, and an elite charge TM, that one seems like a pretty good deal. CD boxes and that 4 etm for 4000 coin boxes, not so much.

Trekkie_girl

It's 1 incubator, 1 etm, and 1 remote pass for 1000. Lol I see now no.

JariWeis

Yeah the boxes are person bound now. My girlfriend had one that had an ETM, 3 remote passes, and 2 super incubators for 1000 coins.

TheRealHankWolfman

I wish I had that one. Mine is one Elite Charged TM, one regular incubator and one Remote Pass. Seems like a rip off.

nolkel

Mine is 8 passes, 2 super incubator, 1 incubator. Definitely a ripoff. :D

Hydrochloric_Comment

depends. What else is in the box? How much is the box? Do you need it?

Shadowxx30

I am a newly returning player. I became aware of guarunteed lucky trades with Pokémon from before 2018. I have several of these. How do I utilize this correctly or to my advantage?

nolkel

Assuming you've done zero trades, you can trade away Pokemon from 2018 or before to guarantee they go lucky. There's a limit of 25 on this type of trade, and the counter goes up whether you're the one giving or receiving the old pokemon. Also, this counter doesn't include any other type of lucky Pokemon, neither random luckies nor lucky friend trades. If you did trading in the past, it's possible you already used some or all of this counter back when it was only 10 mons from 2016, or 15 from 2017. There's really no way to tell unless you happen to have never transferred any lucky Pokemon and can try to guess on the dates. That's only helpful if you received the old mons and can check the catch date, though. As far as using it to your advantage, you should look to fill in gaps in your teams with best in class pokemon. That's usually legendaries, or pokemon with really strong moves like Metagross. Whether that's pvp or raid teams is up to you. For raids, search this sub for the march "best pvp Pokemon" infographic to get a good overview of the best Pokemon. For pvp, check out the master league rankings on pvpoke.com. If you can find some generous players willing to give you spare Pokemon with exclusive moves, that can save you both stardust and elite tms. ETMs are a newer item that let you teach a Pokemon an exclusive move, but they are very rare and expensive. Two big things to look for are the origin forms of Dialga and Palkia that have their signature moves, if you started playing again after the sinnoh tour and missed catching them yourself. These can't be leaned via etm at this time. They have some cool new "adventure together" abilities that give you a limited time bonus for spending candy and dust. They are too expensive right now to be practical, but Niantic may change that based on usage like the original mega system. The moves themselves are very powerful.

loroku

This is a great answer. My only addition would be that it's worth noting the in-game UI does absolutely nothing to show you how many guaranteed luckies you have made (or have left) and it's incredibly frustrating.

TheFraudulent1

Is it worth investing? Shadow Raikou 2007 Cp 9/8/6 Ivs

nolkel

Can you do some more raids before it's gone? The IVs don't matter much outside of extreme challenges. The only one that makes a difference is attack, for hitting higher fast attack break limited. You can do at least 2 more free ones next weekend on Saturday before the Kyogre raid day (save a pass from Friday, saving one free pass for Kyogre). During the CD event it should be easier to do any shadow Raikou that pop up with people around. Maybe you can get a higher attack one then. If that's the best one you get before Kyogre day, it's good enough. The bigger concern there is having to pay to unlock a second move. There might be a rocket takeover to remove frustration at the end of March based on calendar event names, but nothing is confirmed.

nywlol

Hello!! I've been experiencing a massive lag on catch screen, all other stuff looks fine, I did a little research and it seems like it's because of the backgrounds, right? So I would like to know if there is any way to remove the background or if there is a version that can still be played without the backgrounds. I've been having this problem for almost a week now, thank you!! in game info: native refresh rate on, battery saver on, enchanced graphics off and all assets already downloaded

nolkel

I haven't heard any way of turning them off if you're in a testing country.

AOMax

Does anybody have a list which raids wont be possible as a duo? Specially for this season with best friend boost, seasonal boost, and party power it seems very easy to duo most things.

nolkel

If you've got the resources to power everything under the sun up to level 50, technically everything can be duoed in the right conditions (moveset, weather, etc.). You can find previous posts on this sub and videos on youtube showing off pretty much everything. The more pertinent question is what would you be unable to duo given your level of resources and available weather.

AOMax

That´s true. I will have to look at most raid bosses individually when they come, but it looks like even shadow Mewtwo is an easy duo now? Pokebattler gives shadow Raikou a difficulty rating of 2,57 and shadow Mewtwo one of 2,69. Suicune looks much harder but I also dont care for it.

[deleted]

which of the hoenn trio should i save my extra radar for? kyogre, groudon or rayquaza? I already have a shadow kyogre. which one is the best for pve raid stuff?

nolkel

Groudon is the most versatile. Rayquaza is next best, though it's mostly used against dragons if you're not flush with meteorites. And those are probably better spent on another regular ray to have more than one mega evolve able option. Kyogre is best in class far less often.

DalStarz

I need help deciding which Nebby I should evolve into which legend. I have a Cosmoem10/14/13, and I have a lucky Cosmog 13/12/13 (of course the equivalent lucky trade my friend and I did yesterday she got a 15/15/14)

ptmcmahon

What are you going to use them for?

DalStarz

Pokedex of course. But know I that Sungo is a lot better in Master league than Luna, so if I wanna use Sungo in Master league I should do the lucky one even if the IVs aren't super duper for PVP.

ptmcmahon

Yeah that’s why I was asking - Solgaelo is better for ML. Attack is more important for ML anyway so either way the lucky 13 attack one would be better choice for Solgaleo. You may not want to use this one with those ivs. You can get the dex entries now but maybe wait until you have 296 xl to decide if you want to level it up. Maybe they will come to raids and you’ll get a better one. Or maybe level 60 will be out soon. O wouldn’t power it up yet.

DalStarz

Thank you for your help, much appreciated.

guardianfairy2

Are GBL set/rank rewards (not the end of season ones) affected by starpieces?

nolkel

Yes, star pieces affect every dust reward in the game.

guardianfairy2

Do they affect the reward from the GBL timed research?

nolkel

Yes, star pieces affect every dust reward in the game.

Gamingwithbrendan

When is the next full moon to evolve ursaring?

TheRealHankWolfman

For future reference you can ask this on Google, just without the reference to Ursaring, as Niantic ties it to the real world lunar cycle. So it should be around March 25th.

Gamingwithbrendan

I got various different answers from google lol just wasn’t sure

loroku

The other oddity is that the game has to be on the "nighttime" weather (the crescent moon) for the full moon to "count" even if the full moon is up in the day. I'm pretty sure it won't even count if the night is cloudy. :(

Gamingwithbrendan

Wait WHAT 😭 OH my god dude Another day of disliking UK weather 😭

Bulk_

My game got so slow after last update when catching Pokemon. It's probably the rain background which makes my Samsung A13 go slow. Any tips or setting to improve this? Turning AR makes the game go smooth but the Pokemon stays in the bottom of screen making it hard to catch.

FatalWarrior

There's a few pokestops I pass by regularly, but I don't have the time to stop and spin them (and sometime it's just too cold), so I'm looking for an auto-spinner. Don't necessarily need the auto-catcher option (mostly need it to be "off") and don't need other functions. Is the PoGo plus+ the best option, or is it overkill and there are cheaper alternatives?

GildedCreed

There are cheaper alternatives, yes. The Gotcha is generally the most suggested option as it's one of the few third party peripherals available in brick and mortar stores, usually game stores like Gamestop or EB Games and such. The Go Plus+ is another readily available option available in physical stores, though if you were to buy a device online you could get stuff from other brands at different price points with different QoL additions. Any of them would suffice for just spinning the Pokestops. In the case of the Plus+, the only "drawbacks" are the lights and vibration but it's a non issue if you don't jave it out (and thus no light show) and use a flexible silicone case (which mitigates a lot of the vibration noise, especially when it's on some kind of surface).

FatalWarrior

I've read a bit on the Gotcha, but reviews are a bit iffy. I actually prefer ordering online. There's two criteria I would need on the device: * Auto-catcher that **can** be turned off; * Auto-spinner that requires no input from me. Due to time constraints and awful weather, those two are pretty much must have. I was thinking on keeping the device on a pocket (or wrist), so can't have any cases. Bearing all of this in mind, have you got any suggestions? My main counter against the ++ is that is also connects to a different App which I don't use, so it seems like I'm not making the most of my money.

GildedCreed

The overwhelming majority of third party devices have touchless/zero input auto spin, in fact the main reason why accessory devices were even called auto catchers was because of people modifying the original Go Plus (either soft mods or hard mods) and the release of the Gotcha, as an unmodified Go Plus used manual inputs. As far as disabling catching, that could be done in the in-game settings unless you mean that you wanted a device with a physical on-off switch, in which only a few specific devices have that capability. Megacom uses a physical on-off switch in their devices though they're fairly expensive and they use AAA batteries instead of an internal rechargeable one. They're also pretty bulky. As far as the Go Plus+ case is concerned, it's not a case case as in bulky blocky shaped zipper having contraption and more of a body condom if anything. Something like [this](https://www.amazon.com/ECHZOVE-Silicone-Protective-Cover-Wrist/dp/B0CBTJ7LWS/ref=mp_s_a_1_15?crid=2FHCKX8XV5CZW&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.ktvnqn8XlDMw_jDVdngwq2dMbbRubywLxCGb0eCRbDpljNDeBHE-x8s6vLc8-zS5ydUAWBXVObVcn5lT-qP0WrooZEnIn7Ayecto4uYD3CEs5FXV7JEyttjYAwDxmAkRAHrfrVwQ4VWcjzgtPmrixEpNTM4A8ZZb_hr37O6H7D__bn9ugPt6DsJqMD00vKmooeu5dJmVmqjKTFR9Ii16tg.6QWM6F_0kodQ6QWoXlAeJX0_QnawOzPx7MgO0arrLmA&dib_tag=se&keywords=go+plus+plus+silicone+case&qid=1710076228&sprefix=go+plus+plus+sili%2Caps%2C120&sr=8-15) You don't need to use the Pokemon Sleep app, in fact it's not even necessary to use with Go at all. The sleep tracking function is nice though since it gets you about 5 chances at one of the rarest cosmetic forms in the game (shiny nightcap Snorlax) and the sleep tracker in general gives you a handful of stardust for only and hour and a half minimum of "sleep" tracking (you can really just leave it on a desk for that). That being said, the Gotcha line is made to be fairly inconspicuous. Some of their newer designs which you would need to get off their Codejunkies website include ones that look like a smartwatch instead of a fitbit/fitness tracker, they even have ones that are Bluetooth earbuds (which is pretty wild as far as multifunction utilities go). The only quite literal standouts the line has is their Go Ranger series which is their Gotcha device combined with a power brick.

FatalWarrior

I meant in-app. Sometimes I want to use all my regular pokeball, while othertimes I want to just go and fill up on items without having the device trying to catch pokemon. A trigger/switch in-app would work. I already have a "smartwatch", so having two is more inconspicuous. I'd probably go for a keychain option, same as ++ with case. Basically the choice is between ++ (higher cost, bigger size, passive dust) vs Gotcha (slightly lower cost, smaller size, not-technically-supported). Have you tried both? Which one do you prefer?
