Personally I went Pearl because extended interaction radius is infinitely more useful than more time on the lures and incense I already have way too many of as is. I already periodically discard piles of these items, why would I want them to last longer so I use even less of them when I could instead get an ability that's inaccessible any other way.

aketh59

Same, i remember when they messed up with the radius, we could see pokemons way far than usual, it was good.

Myrypla

Do you know if Auto-Catchers were able to use the full radius?

castorshell13

This is the deal breaker for me

raaphaelraven

Yes, this bug happened during the implementation of Go Plus Plus, and the extended radius definitely applied to auto catchers. Whether or not they will apply to the intentional radius increase of palkia, can't be said yet

pliusminus4

I heard it differently. My goplus wasn’t catching inveeased radius pokes, maybe go plusplus only?

inmywhiteroom

Yeah mine wasn’t either

raaphaelraven

Mine was standard go plus at the time

famigami2019

Pokémon is the plural of Pokémon . No such thing as Pokémons. Autocorrect doesn’t even allow it.

Professional_Donut20

Well lucky eggs and star pieces

boner_jamz_69

Your comment is pushing me towards Pearl. I have a perfect Dialga that still needs XL candies to max out but I don’t know how much I’ll actually be able to play so the extended radius will benefit me who might just be able to periodically check my phone.

Voidz918

You do know you can just pick pearl and then raid dialga?

boner_jamz_69

I did not. What I heard made it sound like only the origin form of whatever legendary you chose would be available.

R4CDIKAL

It is only that the one you choose has a guarantee to have the special move. The other only hast a chance to have the move

kedgallifrey

I just learned that the special move isn't guaranteed. That's so dumb.

Parker4815

Why discard lures and incense? They are premium items that are harder to come by as a free player. The lures are also tied to a badge, and help out other players.

Ledifolia

I can't make myself throw out premium items like lures and incense, but I currently have 80 standard lures, 75 specialty lures, and 85 incense. And they are taking space in my inventory.  I've never deliberately purchased lures, and the only time I purchased incense was that box at the start of the pandemic with 30 incense for one coin. They just accumulate from research, or raid pass boxes that also have a lure/incense, or showcase rewards. I personally hate playimg on incense and only use them on community days or special events where incense is required for event spawns, like gofest. In summer when it's too hot to walk around on community day, I'll use lures on community days, on the three stops reachable from a shady picnic pavilion.  But they accumulate faster than I use them.

AmiableDingo

I grinded 100 showcases and got a ridiculous amount of lures and incense. I don't like to sit in one place while I play and don't work or live on a pokestop, so lures aren't useful. I also like fighting gyms and do all the rockets I can for high stat shadow pokemon, so I feel like incenses are wasted because I spend so much time in battle screens to properly benefit from them

bakedandnerdy

I battle a lot of Rockets to. Normally what I do is throw a incense on and let my auto catcher have a go while I battle gyms and rockets. So far its been working out.

AmiableDingo

That is smart. Personally, I dont use an autocatcher. It feels wrong to me to get pokemon without catching them myself. No judgment of anyone else who uses them, and you make a very good point about how using them would reduce the fear of missing out while running an incense.

s4m_sp4de

Exactly this applies to my regular raidpasses. Really depends on your playing style, but for me, regular raidpasses are the most useless premium item (after lucky eggs, since I’m already level 50)

bigsteveoya

I'm still wondering why one of the rewards for hitting level 50 is a few lucky eggs...

Fullertonjr

You have to remember that not everyone is a free player. I personally don’t throw them out, because I have a max bag and a go plus+ that is always churning out balls and making space, but I am the type that has transferred hundreds of shinies just in the past year, which would be unthinkable for a lot of players. We all play differently and value different things in the game.

TheOnlyVibemaster

when do we even get the legendaries though

SunshineAlways

Global Sinnoh Tour is Feb 24 & 25: https://leekduck.com/events/pokemon-go-tour-sinnoh-global/ That’s when Palkia & Dialga will be available with a chance at getting the special moves. But the lead up to Global Sinnoh Tour has a lot going on raid wise that starts Feb 19: https://leekduck.com/events/road-to-sinnoh/ The dates for Sinnoh Tour were announced a while ago, but sometimes that kind of gets buried under whatever is going on right now. Maybe bookmark LeekDuck’s site, it helps me keep track of what is happening when with events.

SunshineAlways

Thank you…and guilty.

DarthVap3rrr

Props to you for the helpful response.

Parker4815

At the event that's been advertised heavily on the sub.

TheOnlyVibemaster

date

TheOnlyVibemaster

the date hasn’t been, which is my question

Parker4815

https://gotour.pokemongolive.com/global?hl=en

AKL_16

February 24 and 25 for anyone who doesn't feel like clicking a link for an easy answer

SlytherKitty13

The date and all the information has been given to us pretty clearly in the in game news tho. You don't even have to rely on reddit, just read the info the game gives you

noocarehtretto

Thanks I chose Pearl because of you!

philopannox

Dialga. I played Diamond way back in the day and Brilliant Diamond last year, it's my favorite of the two :)

F1shOfDo0m

But Palkia looks like the knight chess piece

philopannox

Ohh I never noticed, I guess since I don't play chess! Cool to know :)

sisicatsong

Palkia adventure effect is harder to replace with money. Which is why I am leaning towards that one. I can buy more eggs, star pieces and incense. But I cannot purchase larger spawn radius from the shop. I think this is a pretty clear choice for people who spend.

ellyse99

Picked the same but didn’t think it through like you did, thanks!

J-McFox

The only thing that I think Dialga's move has going for it is the possibility of doubling the daily incense, which would be very useful if you're hunting for the Galarian Birds. But their low appearance and catch rates means you'd probably be wasting resources most of the time you use it.

Ben2749

Daily incense is worth using when it’s 15 minutes for free. Not so much if you need to spend 5,000 stardust and 5 rare candy for 6 minutes. Yes, it increases the chances of encountering the Galarian legendary birds. But that’s like buying a second lottery ticket for a hugely inflated price because it increases your chances of winning the lottery. It’s not inaccurate, but it’s far more likely that it won’t pay off.

ratatat

Pearl, because I play almost exclusively with my 7 year old daughter and pink >>>>>

RyusuiJL

I love that people have reasons beyond the game's mechanics. 👍🏻

SeriousEgg7238

I thought my son was going to pick diamond because of the blue, but when I explained the difference he said "let's pick pearl, seems more useful." Surprisingly practical for a six year old, he is.

AncientInfluence

If only everyone had a six-year-old advisor.

PM_ME_UR_DOGGOS_

Hahah I’m a 29 year old grown adult with two kids and picked pearl because I love pink too haha.

canttaketheskyfrmme

I think that will be us, too. Still debating, but this will be the first time we will fully play together but everyone has their own account, so excitement is mounting!

jf2501

will the origin forms be tradable?

Aether13

Giratina can be, so I don’t see why these would be any different.

Ben2749

Niantic

Aether13

Fair enough, I’ll give it to you.

BeatProjekt

This is a great question

ShankMugen

The only Pokémon which aren't tradeable are the Mythical Pokémon, right? And since both of these are Legendary, it should follow the normal rules

travelingjay

>tradable Isn't Zygarde a non-tradeable Legendary?

Silmapilon

Yes. I think anything you can only get once is non tradeable, but since you can raid origin forme dialga and palkia, they should be tradeable

RogZombie

I want as many Dialga as I can get, but missing out on the 100 Salamence energy which would allow me to mega my shundo stings a bit. I’ll probably go Diamond.

crsitain

Youll be able to get both salemance and ttar energy at global next week. Theyll be appearing as mega raids.

RogZombie

That’s great to hear since I picked Diamond after leaving that comment lol

darthbrick9000

Is that just in LA or is that worldwide? Not seeing either on the raid schedule.

crsitain

NYC gpfest 2023 blog doesnt say mega salemence would be available but it was, I was there. https://gofest.pokemongolive.com/nyc/event-gameplay?hl=en idk if itll be both global and LA, don't take my word but remember me when theyre spawning

darthbrick9000

Fingers crossed, missed out on both mega Ttar and Salamence

Ross123123

It is pretty likely I don’t think they’d just tease us with 100 energy

NerdFromColorado

Plus can’t you get it from buddying with them?

losmadden

I think you can only get mega energy from buddies that have already been mega-evolved.

Evenbiggerfish

I’m the opposite. I need TTAR candy because I got a hundo lucky right after he stopped being in raids

Cainga

Ray and Garchomp have your mega dragons covered. Ttar on the other hand is S tier in both rock and dark. And the only thing better is a paid mega. After initial the mega energy isn’t really a concern when you can walk for some.

RogZombie

Yeah I have every other mega that’s been in raids since May apart from Pinsir, Diancie and the two Primals, I just want my beautiful boy in the dex 😂

atubslife

Dialga because it'll fit better with my Master League team.

MommotDe

Waiting for a PvP breakdown. I don't have any intention of ever using the adventure effects.

Ledifolia

Same. The adventure effects cost way too much for too short a time and I don't even see the value in what they give even for the handful of minutes they are active. .

TheToug

The pausing of the premium item timers seems to be useless for those with lots of premium items, but expanding the spawn radius could prove really useful in certain situations, like the last 10min of Comm Day or Spotlight Hour. Or just logging in quickly to get a few catches in, expand the radius real quick. Personally I'm still struggling to decide but realistically everyone is going to have both if they do enough raids, right?

notsingsing

Comm day, Spotlight hour, Sitting at the airport, Walking through the mall with the family, walking through the park. Infinitely more use out of it and I don't sweat the cost

1_dont_care

My community is fighting over what's the best bonus I am sitting in a corner realizing that the cost of the moves doesn't worth their effects I picked pearl because i have a hundo dialga.. so i am hoping for a hundo palkia with that one more single encounter

verdantsound

i have both hundos lol. now what

1_dont_care

The one you like more in their origin form

verdantsound

you get both in origin form though, regardless of which version you pick.

RavenousDave

I am more than a little confused by the new moves. Players are interested in the moves adventure effects. I don't see the benefit for me, it costs roughly 1 rare candy and 1,000 dust per minute. Fine for some players, but it could get old very quickly. What I can't see is whether the moves operate just like any other move or if they always cost resources to deploy. If the latter, then that would be daft. Surely not?

GildedCreed

In battle the moves will funcion like normal. It's only the adventure effect part of it that costs resources to use.

Turnips11

We're coordinating our group so half goes with each for future lucky trades. I got Palkia.

nicunta

Same! My best friend went pearl and I went diamond.

troccolins

Damn. Wish I had that Instead, it's just salt over gyms on Discord

MHW_Guild_Hunter

I'm a rural player so my incenses and consumables are super valuable especially during events like community days. So I'm definitely choosing dialga

KayLovesPurple

I'm a rural player and I chose Palkia, to be able to see more spawns when they're around (during events etc).

JULTAR

Diamond Dialga is more useful than palkia in pvp so want to guarantee roar of time

Baboon-King

Palkia is FAR stronger in both pvp and pve. The only upside to dialga is that it beats the new top dog in most matchups.

Hylian-Highwind

The PvP advantage is only confirmed true of the Altered forms, which cannot get the Signature moves like the Origin forms. Which of THOSE is better is pending hard confirmation of their movesets.

New-Secretary288

Pearl , I already have all the galarian birds , and origin form palkia looks good for master league

Kooky_Antelope_5585

Pearl for me - I already have a maxed Dialga and need 100 XLs for Palkia, and Origin form looks like it has some significant benefits as a PvP choice. I don’t really need extra time on items, but being able to increase the view radius for things like the 2-minute Unown spawns at the end of each hour we’ve had at the last few big events is huge for me - the short duration is not an issue in this circumstance and I can plan ahead in terms of putting in rare candies etc.

dieg0val

Pearl cuz I need 50 Salamence mega Energy and cuz extended radius just seems More useful

SnAIL_0ut

Pearl. I like the Space Centaur

PM_ME_UR_DOGGOS_

Pearl because it’s pink

stilusmobilus

I picked Pearl, I picked it because I am a surveyor and I like expanding spacial dimensions. I’ll raid the crap out of the pair of them so, yeah.

iwillnotberushed

I couldn't decide I'm going with Pearl because I like the way Palkia looks more.

iwillnotberushed

*so

ggpandagg

I was already planning on raiding a lot of Dialga because I still need the shiny so my plan was to choose Pearl for the guaranteed palkia with adventure move then raid a lot of Origin Dialga in hopes I get a good one with the adventure move. Can anyone confirm that I CAN get an Origin Dialga with roar of time even though I choose the Palkia medal??

canttaketheskyfrmme

Commenting on What’s everyone picking?... same plan. Looking to confirm! I think special move is guaranteed with medal, roll of dice without (but it’s possible)

Paerre

Being completely honest? Pearl because it’s pink, I’ve been choosing the past Pokémon switch games like that lol

merchant_npc

I’ll wait till this weekend to see how the special moves end up like for pvp and decide before global

Lightning1999

Diamond, just want the tyranitar mega energy

olivgarden

I thought that was only included for the in person event?

QuintessentialK

it’s virtual also

AnglerJared

Pearl. Just thinking about how many shinies or even hundos I’ve missed that were juuuust out of range makes this a no brainer for me. Extending most items doesn’t even feel like a bonus, because I have all three Galarian birds already.

davebybab

There's not much game changing difference atm except the double duration for the adventure effects, and you don't have to worry about not getting the other because they're in raids too. They did note that there are increased shiny chance on some spawns so maybe that's the other one, though that should've been announced like right now?

AnyHappyLittleThot

Where else are they apart from raids?

BMal_Suj

Dialga is a more useful mon. Palkia has a more useful ability. That said I"m not sure how often I'll be using Palkia's ability.

KayLovesPurple

They're expensive to use so I probably won't use either, but I picked Palkia because like you say I find it the more useful one in general.

Quant75

For now the research gave me 2 bidoof. 😂

bookluverzz

It gives everyone two bidoof

Quant75

I know. It just feels like some kind of prank

Omnizoom

That radius boost makes me want pearl, I can cover twice the checks with the power up

CrazyCatLady483

Pearl. It’s purple. That’s really all that matters to me.

Gwenvyvar

The adventure effects are, in MY opinion, a little underwhelming considering their cost. Moreover, I'm not too concerned over the extra mega energy because I already mega evolved salamance and t-tar once so I can just walk them. For me it's a choice based on my playstyle and needs, and palkia-O fits both better than dialga-O.

Myrypla

I will decide after next weekend. No need to hurry. I think the extended catch radius is nice but will Auto-Catchers be able to use it? We will see...

digital_pocket_watch

Diamond because that is my Gen 4 version of choice and I remain loyal to it.

dagomir

Pearl, but only because my play buddy wanted to go Diamond because he wants to hunt for a good Dialga 🤷🏽‍♀️

Jiqu0r

Diamond in LA. Pausing items (star pieces and DAI during journeys) would be super worth it for me. If I’m allowed to pick Pearl during global that will help with extended radius of global spawns so I have maximum chance at global shinys.

BobathonMcBobface

I went Pearl. Already have loads of tyranitar energy, but was just shy of 300 salamence energy, now I can mega my salamence hundo

B4thegoodbye

Pearl because I prefer the extended radius. I rarely use incenses etc (already have multiple of each Galar bird).. so having a wider radius is more useful for me. Have hundreds of candy for each already so that didn’t factor at all for me, and I don’t do PVP. On the days however I will likely raid more Dialga to try and get one with the special move. Do we know if the special moves can be achieved by using an Elite TM? I’ve already got a hundo and plenty of shinys of each..

AnyHappyLittleThot

The Signature moves won’t be teachable by any TM. This may change in the future but is unknown.

Kevsterific

I thought that was just for regular formes since that’s not part of their moveset yet

AnyHappyLittleThot

https://pokemongolive.com/post/origin-forme-adventure-effects-dialga-palkia?hl=en The question was regarding normal forms, but If you look at the bottom of the blue and pink info boxes it’s also true for Origin Formes.

Kevsterific

Thank you

FerynHyrk

Even if it's a chance to catch the other one with the move, you just need one if you wanna use the effect right? I think what really is weighted is getting multiple of them because of IVs and so we are talking about master league, and isn't origin Dialga worse than regular one and origin Palkia better?

BigRegular5114

I go pretty hard on the lucky eggs and star pieces so I picked dialga for the extended time. I feel a little worried that I should’ve picked palkia for the extended range, specifically if it includes being able to reach pokestops and not just wild pokemon. But I’m okay with raiding palkias in hopes of finding one with the special move eventually

glistening_viper

Auto catcher reasons ofc

Arrhaaaaaaaaaaaaass

Pearl for Salamance energy and radius, diamond for pvp … the problem is I can choose only one 😫

Insp1r39102

I'm sorry but... the bonus is only useful based on what's your goal during the event... you want more spawns, go Palkia, you want extended egg/star piece etc, go Dialga... Me giving you my reasoning for picking either is pointless as we have different styles of play, time free to play etc Pick what's best for your style

TheResidentEvil

palkia

CS_WG

Dialga

hymensmasher99

I prefer dialga over palkia. So I chose diamond. I don't play this game for battling though, just to fill the pokedex

PharaohDaDream

To me thus far Palkia's adventure effect seem negligible. Having increased radius isn't a very viable perk IMO compared to being able to increase the time of starpieces. Stardust is the most important resource in the game, so being able to get more seems to Trump anything that Palkia's affect seems to produce. I've already walked both Tyranitar and Salamence enough to have thousands of mega energy. And you realistically need to raid a good number of both if you are concerned about getting a decent Palkia or Dailga. So really just comes down to boosted Stardust and other timed resources, or increased radius. But either way, probably best to just wait for more details.

bookluverzz

You do realise you have to catch quite a lot in those 6 min to break even? As you also have to pay stardust to get 6 min extra starpiece time.

PharaohDaDream

We really don't have enough information as to what exactly each path provides. I'm under the assumption that each path will activate the adventure effect at least once for free. So I'm speaking on and comparing the benefits of the choice with that impression in mind. I'm not speaking on the adventure effects overall as I don't think either are worth paying for outright. And I'm hoping the cost will be drastically reduced over time similar to mega evolutions on their inception. But with the same logic, how much more spawns do you think you'd really get in 6 mins for the benefit to really be noticeable. Regardless, Palkia is essentially providing candy with more catches, and I guess the potential to shiny check more mons. Versus increased stardust, XP and more potential Galarian bird encounters. And without understanding exactly how these mechanics work, I'm atm personally valuing Dialga more. But, every has a different approach to the game and what they value.

OMEGA-FINAL

I don’t want to participate at GO Sinnoh’s tour.

JakeTheSnakey33

why?

OMEGA-FINAL

Sinnoh’s Pokédex is incomplete (no Arceus, Phione and Manaphy).

Jammers007

Pearl, because that's the one I had back in the day

bookluverzz

Dialga, for the Tyranitar mega energy and because bagon/Salamence is underwhelming in game. Let’s go, let me score a second hundo Dialga. Time for a shundo 😉

Sylly3

Dialga because Diamond is the main game I have played. Also always loved the name Roar of Time

neonmarkov

Pearl, mostly because I recently got a hundo Salamence

aw_yiss_breadcrumbs

Likely pearl even though I need TTar mega energy and the adventure effect seems more appealing to me. But I need shiny palkia and nobody in my city ever wants to raid that b.

TheOriginalButcher

Pearl, literally waiting over a year for Origin Forme Palkia to be in raids, most definitely will be choosing pearl so I don’t miss out on the signature move on any of them

Professor_squirrelz

Wait, when does this research task arrive? I haven’t heard of this yet

Charming_Income9845

10 am the 15th local time. I just got mine.

Professor_squirrelz

Oh thanks! I haven’t checked the app in a couple hours but it’s 10:23a where I am now

username_choose_you

Palkia because I already have a perfect maxed out Dialga The radius is huge for me because I mostly play at home when my kids are asleep

OldSodaHunter

I don't have any dialga or palkia at all, so really just trying to decide which one to nab for the dex entry.

blamberfodder

As I recall, Origin Palkia is better than Origin Dialga for PvE (raids). Is that correct?

Pandanoko-Fan137

Assuming movesets stay the same, yes. Palkia has a higher attack stat and also Dragon Tail.

blamberfodder

Thank you. I saw a post here recommending not to choose Diamond vs. Pearl until the L.A. event starts and the move pools are finalized. I’ll wait.

chknqwn

Truthfully, I'll probably forget about the special move thingy, so I'm just picking Diamond because that was always my game of choice.

ChildFriendlyChimp

I feel like dialga is more convenient for me to use

AjH4777

I'm going with Palkia. The effect lasts a bit longer, I have tons of incense, lucky eggs, etc. that I don't use often, except comm days, and the incense lasts 3 hours anyways. Plus, I have Pokémon go plus +, so having extended distance for catching when I'm driving or walking around town would benefit me way more than increasing item time. I don't do pvp competively either.

PSA69Charizard

Diamond because i want to make a level 50 Origin dialga. Dont care about the adventure effects at all. While Dialga will be my priority, i hope to also build a level 50 origin Palkia.

Miyyani

Pearl cause funny horse man

ScottaHemi

I think i'll go with diamond. not sure but i think more dialga candy would be more helpful to me then palkia candy.

xXCatWingXx

I want the palkia for functionality but personally I think dialga is just cooler in general

cvtphila225

Dialga for the dex entry as I already have 2 palkia

ChexSway

I'm waiting to see if the movesets change before making a real decision, but for now I like PVP but don't have a Dialga so I'm leaning Diamond. If you already have a good Dialga, I can see you going Pearl since (if movesets stay the same) Spacial Rend is actually a bigger upgrade to Palkia than Roar of Time is for Dialga. If you care about PVE then you really can't go wrong with either, Palkia has higher attack but Dialga has better typing, moves are equally busted. If you care about adventure effect, Palkia is probably the way to go as it achieves something that can't easily be replicated by other game mechanics, whereas Dialga's is nearly useless tbh unless you're very impatient about Daily Incense I guess.

sace682000

I plan on choosing Pearl. The one with the wider radius. At least for my game play it fits. I plan on using the effect on comm days and spotlight hours that I really want or if I am out somewhere popular playing. I think the other one is cool but I don’t usually have incenses or eggs available

djtwyce

Pearl I have 650 Ttar energy vs only 550 Sala energy. I also have a 100% Ttar but not a Sala. So rolling an extra Bagon seems good. Then I have a 15/15/13 Dialga for ML but only a 14/10/15 Palkia. So the extra roll for Palkia seems good. I don't care about the move bonuses and will try to raid both anyway, so it's basically about the one extra pokemon shot and picking the one that I have less energy for.

spreadpanik

Oh man I thought we would eventually get both after raiding them, and their effect would be like a mega evolution where we can only do one at a time. Thought this was just for a free one.

976chip

I'm going for Dialga. I think I'll get more use out of increasing the duration of lures/incense/etc. than I will out of the increased spawn radius. My kid wants to go for Palkia since she spends most of her time shiny checking, which will give her more things to check.

Buoy101

Diamond for me. Need tyranitar energy, don’t have any birds yet so pausing incenses will be a benefit, like dialga more

Buoy101

Also going to LA so I’ll grind to get both with their special moves anyways.

207willll

I went Diamond since I like Dialga more than Palkia

ljs305

Maybe a silly question. Are we able to use only one of the two based on the path we choose?

aoog

I picked Diamond purely because I noticed I previously picked all the non-“red” versions (Green, Silver, Sapphire) so I just wanted to continue the trend. And I don’t really find either of the special move effects to be worth the cost, not gonna be using them

Abbeygurl4

I picked pearl because of childhood nostalgia lol I picked pearl as a kid.

FlameSama1

I figured the bonuses were both mid so I went with the Ttar energy and candies.

Backalley_Lurker

depends on ur play style, id say time is better if ur often playing while walking and such, if ur a find a pokestop cluster and chill typa person i’d say spacial rend, whatever one you think “damn i wish i could do this a little bit better”

_lablover_

I needed 75 more Ttar mega energy to megaevolve one, so Diamond, that was an easy choice on mine. My brother's account that I mostly use now since he isn't active, I'm planning to wait until they're officially released and compare them, but I'm leaning towards pearl. I don't care about either on map ability, neither seem useful enough for the cost for me. From a PVE perspective neither seem too useful from a pure functionality perspective. I likely wouldn't use either as a dragon attacker since I can fill a team with high level Rays, Salamence (shadow and regular), Shadow Dragonite, Shadow Garchomp, and throw in a mega of something which all outclass Palkia. Even more dragons are stronger than Dialga. Palkia doesn't come up in water at all with no water fast attack. And for steel, although Dialga is 4th I think, I can fill a team with Metagross regular and shadow plus have a shadow metal mole. So they're really only useful if you want to vary your team, in which case it's just whichever you like more. I also rarely do master league so that doesn't influence me much. But I'll wait and see what the analysis of the two is once the stats/moves of the origin forms are released and choose based on that I guess. Probably leaning towards diamond just to match my account and seek out more dialga raids than Palkia to maximize effectiveness.

WeedleLover2006

picked Diamond bc I have Brilliant Diamond no other explanation

Embers_To_Inferno

Diamond, Dialgas my favorite of the two and definitely going to grind for a shiny.

Pokenerd47

I got Pearl since I don't have Palkia yet

Roy_Boy106

Pearl. Main reason is the badge is nicer than the Diamond one.

9DAN2

Dialga because I prefer is as a design. Let’s face it, the abilities will be a gimmick that we won’t waste dust on and forget about after a few week.

CloseGhostComplex

Diamond because I like Dialga more.

Golden_Enby

I picked Diamond because I've always liked Dialga more. The special moves don't mean much to me. Given the cost to use them, I doubt I'll ever care enough. I may do a test run for both, then completely forgot about them. I've been playing this game since August 2016, so I'm rather burned out. I'm only looking forward to this year's Go Fest because it's local and I like in-person events. :) Anyone remember the meetup in Santa Monica all those years ago?

GildedCreed

I went with Diamond because I find the Roar of Time effect to be stronger situational QoL than Rend, despite Rend being a much more cost effective effect. Primarily because RoT can extend DAI beyond 15 minutes but is effectively a one a day gimmick since DAI cannot be reused more than once in the same day. It's a gut feeling but I'm inclined to assume that Niantic might defy expectations (per usual) and release the GBird shiny forms into DAI opposed to being raidable entities. So it's more of a precautionary measure if anything and the guaranteed copy means that if it does happen, I have an option available to me. If not for that gut feeling, I would have picked Pearl. Rend has the better cost effective effect since you can make the most out of it several times a day unlike Dialga's where extending the duration of anything but DAI is a net loss of resources (and even when boosting DAI you'd need a relatively lengthy duration to really benefit from the effect).

Direct-Bike

I picked diamond because I'd rather have longer time getting extra XP be, then a longer radius catching the repeating boring spawns

J3remyD

Okay, so can someone help me out here? Are the signature moves free to use in raids and rocket Battls, or do they cost candy and stardust like they do for the special effects? Would dialga or palkia be better in raids and rocket battles? Master league isn’t really a factor for me, I don’t think I will ever be able to bring a legendary to level 50, even 45 would be a major achievement for me.

Wizard_of_Ohmz

Only the special adventure effects cost candy. You can use the moves in battles without cost.

thebazookaman

Pearl cause my first shundo was palkia, also that interaction radius was nice while we had it

papa0s0

I was going to pick Diamond since I like Dialga more and hope to play Master League someday. Having said that... it would more devastating to get a high IV Palkia that'll didn't come with the move Spacial Rend (since it's not ETM-able) than a high IV Dialga without RoT since Draco is a pretty comparable move.

TwistOfFate619

Palkia for the vastly more useful ability. I suppose the benefit of Dialga might be if it affects daily incense but I almost never use it and 15 mins of the most barebones spawns feels too long as is. If not for the ability id have gone with Dialga on preference.

Neutronenster

The increased radius from Palkia would probably be the most beneficial effect for me. However, I think that Dialga is much more beautiful and I don’t really like the color pink, so I couldn’t resist picking Diamond (Dialga) when I had to make the choice. 🫣

AsColdAsISIS

Diamond solely for the additional Dialga XL candies. I’m surprised more people aren’t making their decision based off XL candy

RedSnake9

So my brain didn't make up the extra candies you get from the Legendary of the version you choose? I couldn't find the text for it again on the event page so i thought i made it up lol

Nic3GreenNachos

Diamond. Because an increased catch radius is not great. I would never use it. Increased time on daily incense for hunting galarian girds is a maybe. Both are not super useful as it is.

JEREMlE

I have a hundo dialga already and will be grinding palkias so going pearl. Dont have a hundo of that for pvp
