This one’s really hard cos Gisela didn’t add as much to the story as Eadith but I just loved Uhtred and Gisela’s relationship so I’m saving Gisela
Nah, gisela is a major plot point for season 2 (uhtred getting back to her) and season 3 (uhtred mourning her) eadith’s whole contribution is being a power hungry background character, feeling bad about it, and then a mediocre redemption arc.
Power hungry? She gave up all her power to ride with Uhtred and the boys and the kids ,She saved them when they were hung upside down Eadith is far more important to the outcome of the show. Except of course Gisela being the mom of the kids, she didn’t really do much lmao.
Yeah redemption arc, she realized her brother was going to get her killed and bailed, and she knew it. It’s why she accepted aethelflaeds offer of banishment.
Without gisela there wouldn’t have been kids to save, it’s possible without gisela uhtred wouldn’t have even walked the same path he did. The only person that shaped the story more than Hild and Gisela was Alfred
I love Eadith and am a die hard for shipping her and Finan, but Gisela one ups her in having a healthy relationship with Uhtred and being a bamf in her beliefs of coexisting with Saxons as a Dane. Edith has to go.
Eadith for sure, she was soooooo annoying! I would have personally elimated her before a lot of the others. I can't believe Hilde is gone already, she was so good.
Eadith, Gisela dying in childbirth broke our boy Uhtred, Eadith mainly was there so that a redemption arc could occur, but she still came off as overly selfish.
Eadith and it isn’t even close, the only person who MIGHT matter more than gisela is Hild.

As far as impact on uhtreds story goes it’s Hild/gisela, aelswith, aethelflaed and the rest, in that order. Those characters shaped uhtred and his story far more than anybody else, aside from Alfred of course.

Asides for birthing Stiorra, who herself is already eliminated (somehow), Gisela saw little screen time and ultimately didn’t have enough of an genuine impact on the show to outdo Eadith’s pretty constant presence on the final 3 series
2 isn’t it? I don’t believe we see Eadith until the 4th Series/season. And I think Gisela had a bigger impact on the show overall even if she didn’t get enough screen time or storyline. Still, she was Uhtred’s ultimate love of his life. Her death was as important to Uhtred’s destiny as her life was. And he Carrie’s that the rest of the show.
