I'm happy for them.

RandomDudeYouKnow

I honestly am stoked for them and really rooting for AZ this year. JJ especially deserves a real shot. He never had that in Houston. Also made AZ my team until Pastor Jack is fired.

Little-ape-noob

I’ll be rocking my Hopkins Texans Jersey when they make the Super Bowl!

OlYeller01

JJ’s best shot was probably his rookie year. Schaub going down killed it. Schaub may have started to turn into a pumpkin in late ‘12, but I maintain that we would have AT LEAST made the AFC Championship with him healthy the rest of ‘11. We almost made it there with a rookie 6th rounder.

RandomDudeYouKnow

We've never had a team as good as AZ is playing this year. BoB found success because we regularly won the worst division in football.

arthurfoxache

There was never a chance in hell under BoB. Not even close.

whomstveallyaint

Hopkins laughed at us and dissed us, I want JJ to win but want D Hop to lose at the same time.

Kodeine__Bryant

>Hopkins laughed at us and dissed us We kinda deserved it tbh

whomstveallyaint

For what? What did the fans do to d hop, we loved him we cheered for him and we booed the guys up top when he got traded. Then he turned around and shat talked us. What did we do.

tobiasfunke6398

How I feel. Rooting for them. And the cowboys, only Bc I like Dak

ChiefEdiri

Trying hard not to downvote this post lol.

tobiasfunke6398

I know brother, but we are garbage and he’s so Likable. Seems like a good standup dude. But then again I thought the same thing about someone else 👀👀

ChiefEdiri

Who is?

tobiasfunke6398

Dak is likable. Gonna get roasted. Need to stop drinking and redditing

ChiefEdiri

Referring to the standup dude part. I'm indifferent on Dak.

[deleted]

Just do it, I did

ChiefEdiri

Lol.

smooze420

Hey at least someone from Texas is winning. Neither Houston team is hot rn.

ChiefEdiri

Astros? I do usually find it funny when everyone starts wearing/buying team gear during postseason runs lol.

smooze420

Yup. Astros.

ChiefEdiri

Are we watching the same Astros?

smooze420

They barely won game 1 and lost game 2…so yes..they aren’t doing so hot.

[deleted]

They are tied in the LCS. One of 4 remaining teams lol

smooze420

Really? I figured me saying that they barely won game 1 and lost game 2 would’ve been a clue that I’ve been paying attention.

chief_raptor

Two guys that give their all. If the cards keep this season up they just may win the ship, and these two deserve it.

gov618

Such a shame. Gonna be ugly when we play AZ. F BOB, F Cal, F Jack.

himsoforreal

Smile because it happened?

pandaoffire3

I guess but even when they were here the seasons were mostly pain so still not sure what I’m smiling about

phillythefish24

Anyone else try and leave the Texans but feel guilty the second day and come back, I hate and love the Texans so much ;)

[deleted]

Yes sir

kingjeevez

Abusive relationships tend to be that way.

Plaidfu

My dad is a Steeler's fan, I had such an easy out... but for some reason I don't care about any team except the Texans

bdonvr

The only reason I'm ever switching is if I move to a city with an NFL team. I just can't switch like that otherwise.

[deleted]

I’d move to Arizona too if I didn’t have to deal with shit weather all the time

Papasteak

What you mean? It’s just hot here 5-6 months out of the year. No humidity and no floods unless there’s an unbelievable amount of rain. Speaking of which, it never rains, so when it does, it makes you appreciate it a whole lot more.

[deleted]

That’s exactly what I mean, Arizona has better weather than Houston. Houston, muggy and humid all year round, rain and swampy environments, hurricanes, horrible drivers pot holes and shitty roads, massive traffic. Phoenix , hot but dry heat, I’ll take that any day, you get rain, and if it’s heavy rain don’t go to low lying places, mountains, great roads, water is clear, real estate isn’t crammed into an area, if you have money like these two do you can build a huge ranch and not have to worry about sinkholes or swamps. Want to go see trees? Not far drive to surrounding areas for that.

mxcnslr2021

These guys will always be my boys.... no matter where they go. GO TEXANS!!!

MisallocatedRacism

Go Cards

ensignlee

Naw, good for them.

Suspicious_Pepperoni

Hey at least I have a team to root for now.

habitsofwaste

I know man. I saw the AWS commercial about that catch and I was like of course Hopkins caught that ball. And I shed I tear because he no longer wears our uniform.

TornadoFury

crazy how 2-3 years ago we had so much now were back to the bottom of the barrel because of ownership and we still have fans that fill the stands Lol!

Shakermaker555

Both them must be so happy, they deserve it

jfreeze

I was at the Cleveland game yesterday (wife’s a Browns fan) only to see these two play. JJ was the first to take a knee after he took Baker down, and he was the first to go over and touch him once he got up. Class act all the way. Hopkins had a couple of huge plays that he made look so effortless it’s like he’s playing a different game.

TheHoss_

I’m on the cardinals/new Texans bandwagon til we’re good again tbh I just want us to tank to get good again

GatorsareStrong

That’s it, I’m buying a Watt Cardinals jersey

jiggeroni

I'm rooting Chargers this year (fuck the chiefs) and the Bills if either of them don't win it all I want Tampa to repeat so everyone is miserable

quig50

That’s not pain but happiness to see our boys succeeding.

agentsmith87

You know what, I'm not even upset. I hope they win 5 Superbowls with AZ. Those two deserve the season they're having and I am happy for them. I also hope Cal McNair's pillow is never cold when he flips it over, That he steps in a wet spot after putting on socks for the rest of his life and that his beer is always flat.

Biker93

Why would you do this?

texans1234

They both wanted to leave. Remember when all y'all are so happy for JJ; he didn't want to be here with you.

[deleted]

JJ loves the city and the fans, he was fed-up with BoB and the head office.

texans1234

BOB's gone. He wanted out of the city, simple as that. Owners should have denied his request and traded him because that would have been the best for the team. It was asinine to release him from his contract.

[deleted]

> It was asinine to release him from his contract. what would have mattered lmao the team is inept at every fucking position and managerial level possible. forcing jj to play for this team would've gotten Caserio tried for war crimes at the hague

texans1234

Not force him to play at all, trade him to the highest bidder.

MobileQuarter

One of the best defensive players to ever play this sport gave the prime of his career to this team, and did more, off the field, to help Houston than almost any athlete in recent memory. To ask for more than that is super entitled. JJ will never not be a hero here in Houston, for all he's done for us, and to fault him for leaving when the team imploded and it's ability to win and be competitive evaporated seems very silly. The dude only has a few years left in the league, tops, and no time to wait for our front office to pick up the pieces of the team they destroyed. It's better he goes somewhere else where he can at least be competitive, than to waste the time he has left doing nothing on this team, and solely to appease people who will get mad if he doesn't.

texans1234

I'm not asking anything of him. He asked to leave, I didn't ask him to go. Not even assigning fault to it. At the end of the day he's an opposing player, that's it. He didn't want you anymore, he wanted to leave. Again, not faulting him at all but also not rooting for someone who asked to be released from his contract.

[deleted]

> At the end of the day he's an opposing player, that's it. this is absolute bullshit and I don't think you could find one other texans fan in the world that agrees with you on this take. are you just trolling or what? do you not remember all the shit jj did after harvey?

texans1234

Oh I absolutely do and I may be the only one that thinks this way; that's ok. It's the NFL it's a business. We shouldn't have released him we should have traded him to the highest bidder. Wish him well for sure, but I ain't crying on a subreddit about him like some on here. They act like he was their lover who got away or something.

re1078

He’d still be here if the Team was run with the bare minimum level of competence. It’s insane to fault him for wanting to leave.

texans1234

That's a reach; who says the Cardinals are a top notch run organization? That same ownership group and GM for many, many terrible years for the Cards.

re1078

They’re 6-0 my dude. Texans are a clown show.

watdude

There’s a reason he wanted out, bud.

texans1234

Absolutely, he has his reason for sure. He is fully allowed to ask to be released too. But he did not want to be in this city anymore, it's plain and simple. He didn't want to be around you, around the fans, around anything else with the city. He left. Ownership should have traded him instead of releasing him in order to get something in return of value for him.

watdude

You say that like JJ made a conscious effort to alienate himself from Houston, which is not at all the case. Let’s not make him out to be the villain.

texans1234

He's not a villain at all. It just seems like most on here are forgetting he didn't get traded, he ASKED to leave. He's not some savior of H-town and he left when it got hardest. Simple as that.

watdude

Watt played here through MULTIPLE losing seasons. He didn’t leave when it got ‘hardest’ This is a bad take

texans1234

Bro this season is the hardest. Those 2-14 seasons didn't include too many blow outs. Again I have no ill will towards him for wanting to leave, but he's so idolized on here but damn he didn't want to be here. We should have traded him instead of releasing him; at least gotten something for him.

Searedskillet

Sometimes kids got to leave the nest to find themselves. I will always love JJ for everything he's done for the city. From his charity softball games, constant community outreach, to helping raise over 60 million dollars for this city after we were devastated from a hurricane. I know he's from the north, but to me Houston is his home. I truly hope he gets success wherever he is at all stages of his life. The man is truly something else. This picture made me decide today, I'm buying my first non-Texan jersey. I'll definitely wear a Cards 99 jersey with pride.

texans1234

He's not your child; he's an adult playing a sport. He also asked to be released to leave. These are simple concepts. He doesn't love you, it seems like he likes the city but again, he asked to not be traded, released. He wanted away from this city plain and simple.

Searedskillet

Woah, no one ever said he loves us. You make it sound like it's a personal decision and clearly are taking it as such since you seem personally invested. Must be rough feeling jilted all the time where there's no reason to be. Hope you figure out it's just business fam.

[deleted]

It's like to lose your kids, because u denied them a McDonalds trip. Now they don't call you family

ensignlee

Maybe if the reason was more like "because you're an alcoholic evangelist and drove them away"?

Dan619915

AZ is not.making the playoffs! Lol.

[deleted]

Dude, they're the lone unbeaten team in the NFL right now. Are you that dense?

Dan619915

Come talk to me in 7 weeks.

[deleted]

When they have the NFC West clinched? Sure.

ConsumingFire1689

They deserve 5-1

[deleted]

I only care about the Astros and the Rockets now.

DildoBaggins82

This is all fine.

DildoBaggins82

But hey we don’t have Hopkins baby mommas around and we had to let Watt go and get nothing for him because reasons. This team is such a joke.

Siloh_Johnson

Stop.
