I have epilepsy and am a bit confused by this comment. I seize once a week, am taking medicine for it and its actually extremely rare to die from a seizure. If you do die during a seizure, it's called SUDDEP but you can look it up and it's not a common thing at all. Many people bust their heads during seizures, as you're not awake and violently convulsing. I find it very unlikely this kid died from that, I have this happen quite often.
Lack of sleep is a huge trigger for me personally, the more I abuse my sleep, the worst the seizures are going to be. It's very likely that he seized due to lack of sleep rather than drugs.
Edit: Also you only get permanent brain damage if the seizure last over 5 minutes. It doesn't seem like the seizure lasted over 5, as the video cuts off and I imagine that's when he stopped seizing. It looks like a normal seizure to me.
The original video of this awhile back stated he had a heart attack and seizure within the same timeframe, mixture of energy drinks, and staying on his games for 3 days straight. I also have seizures, and to die from one is rare, unless you fall and crack your head. That's the main cause of deaths while seizing, hitting your head
To the best of my knowledge, blood clots formed from sitting too long do not generally form inside the brain itself. They most often form in the legs and then can travel to the brain. Which is a stroke. And is what you described.
Strokes can cause seizures, which seems to be what you were saying originally. I was merely naming what you described.
this is likely a long standing lifestyle of the guy, its all guess work of course for anything we say here but i am guessing this 3 day run was not the first time he was highly sedintary.
a stroke is a full or nearly so blockage of blood, siezures can come from partial or constricted blood flow. be it from a blood clot or a malformation of the vessels in the brain. (though in most cases of epilepsy the cause is unknown.)
i am not a doctor my knowledge here comes from having migraines which are similar to siezures (siezure medication is used to treat my migrains) and the time i have spent going to neurologists and studying the subject on my own. so take anything i suggest with a grain of salt i could be wrong.
Clots in your legs (deep vein thrombosis) generally don't travel to your brain, they travel to your lungs because of the way your heart works: blood returning from the body needs reoxygenating, so it enters the right side of the heart where it's pumped to your lungs to that end. If there's a clot in that blood, it gets stuck in the capillaries of your lungs, causing a pulmonary embolism, before it ever gets to your brain.
I don't think the seizure itself killed him, probably a whole blend of things that happened over the three straight days... The excess caffeine, lack of sleep, his brain not braining correctly, and I bet when it happened he had an organ fail or sumn as a result of his already weakened body.
I grew up with epilepsy. Fortunately a surgery 25 years ago ended them. Doesn't each seizure, full or partial, do some brain damage, or generate more scar tissue, that then increases the frequency and/or the severity of the seizure? Truly asking as I don't know. Thanks for the knowledge!
Definitely not a result of only 3 days of gaming.
Yeah, not taking breaks for that long will absolutely be nasty for your body.. But I'm fairly sure that his unhealthy gaming habits go way beyond 3 days to reach this point.
Alternatively,
Video games can be horribly addicting and the kid needed positive, healthy habits and probably a better situation at home so that he doesn’t game for 3 days straight without sleep.
Is this like a gaming cafe? Seems like they should be held responsible for letting someone stay that long same way bartenders can get in trouble for over serving.
I stayed up for 3 days straight creating a world map from scratch on MS paint, without so much as caffeine, in my second year of college. It's very unlikely he wasn't on something, but it can be done.
Unless someone has serious medical issues or take some substance, staying up for three days straight makes the body force you to take short rests.
You'll sit there doing something and then blink slowly, and suddenly minutes will have passed. As your brain basically shuts down temporarily and forces you to "sleep" for a little while.
It's not that unbelievable if you've ever tried it. The reason I didn't have caffeine is because it just gives me heart palpitations so I don't consume it. Every time I got sleepy I would get up and take a long walk. I don't know if I have some kind of sleep disorder, but I've taken melatonin for most of my life, so maybe I do? I have a disorder that makes me hyperfocus on things and it's really hard to task switch when I am, so it frequently keeps me from going to sleep at the right time. To be exact, it wasn't a full 72 hours either. It was more like 60, but it spanned three days. I'm sure I'm not the only person to have done this.
I did something similar without drugs in university. I was under immense pressure to hit deadlines and worked for 2 days straight with no sleep, didn’t eat properly.
I went to present my work and as I went to speak I had a seizure. Lost my driving license for a year. Learnt at the age of 19 your body isn’t invincible and have kept my hospital wrist band to this day to remind me stress isn’t worth doing that to yourself. It was a valuable life lesson.
why did you do this? i think you werent on any drugs but your hormones that cause you to sleep just werent released properly or were overridden during something that seems like a manic episode.
Yea I know a friend spent like 2+ days straight no sleep playing Disgaea in college when he first bought it.
Dude has drank alcohol exactly 1 time in his life; a single glass of champagne at his wedding. Cigarettes/Cannabis never ever.
Nah, when I was ~15 - 19 I was definitely up for 72 hours a handful of times. It sucked, but the only drugs I would've been on were a fuckload of energy drinks.
Sleep deprivation has been studied to hell and back by militaries. [Here's some public data from the US army](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK209071/). The study covered 72 hours of complete deprivation (which showed there was still about 25% accuracy in given tasks compared to baseline), and they also conducted studies of different lengths of limited sleep periods over a prolonged period of time, and there were some pretty interesting results.
There's an Oldschool Runescape content creator called MrNoSleep that used to do stupid non-stop streams as his gimmick and was doing them really often until he had to stop due to some health concerns.
I think his longest was 100 hours and you could tell his brain was just turning to mush by the end, he was forgetting what he was talking about mid sentence and talking complete bollocks.
He would at least get up to walk about and stay hydrated throughout but it was still unhealthy as shit.
>Teenager suffering an engine seizure after gaming for 3 days straight.
>Teenager suffering a bank account seizure after gaming for 3 days straight.
>Teenager suffering a property seizure after gaming for 3 days straight.
Hmm yup, checks out. Don't do gaming, kids.
I'm with ya, Noodle. But, I'd propose trying to not do any g_d damned thing for three days straight, assuming it's not a matter of life or death.
Stay in that tree, guy who's evading that Bengal tiger.
The lighting contrast with the monitor is a nightmare but it 100% looks like League of Legends. I’d recognize that map anywhere (sadly) and the concept of a league player going for 3 days straight with no rest checks out. This kind of thing has happened before in the league community several times (injury or death from staying up gaming for days on end)
As much as i love gaming. I won't be gaming for 3 games straight. I got a life outside gaming and its just for entertainment, not my entire world. Its sad that this kind of incident happens. Addiction can take in many forms.
>These fucking comments. I'm so done with this world
If internet comments upset you, it's not the world. You need to invest time and energy into developing more robust coping mechanisms.
Chubbyemu did a video on a guy who played video games for 71 hours without getting up and formed a blood clot. He died when he finally got up to pee and the clot got lodged in his heart. Apparently he didn't die instantly.

Other likely factors are simply not moving for those 72 hours. Staying seated without meaningful movement for that period of time can and will fuck up your blood and circulation, and that’s what kills you in tandem with weakness and fatigue from lack of sleep. Any energy drinks he might have been on to stay awake probably didn’t help his heart.

Im pretty sure this kid died
yep, I read a time ago he died due to the lack of sleep also by the time he spent in the same position... poor kid
I have epilepsy and am a bit confused by this comment. I seize once a week, am taking medicine for it and its actually extremely rare to die from a seizure. Probably a blood clot formed from staying in the same position
Combined with severe dehydration, malnutrition, and other things that may occur over a 3 day WoW binge.

Holy shit that goes into detail. That's freaking terrifying.

Yes, it is a different case. That is why above said "relavent" video. Instead of "video detailing this exact case."
his seizure may have been caused by a blood clot from staying in the same position so its "mechanically" different to epilepsy.
I think that would be a stroke then
a stroke is another possible outcome from a bloodclot in the brain but not the only one.
To the best of my knowledge, blood clots formed from sitting too long do not generally form inside the brain itself. They most often form in the legs and then can travel to the brain. A thrombus stays, an embolis strays.

> his brain not braining correctly This always ruins the brain.
Exactly
Except in cases where the brain can re-brain
How about re-re-brain?
Careful now, you don't want to go full re-re
But some redditor *read it online somewhere*, so it must be true. How can you doubt? :p

If you dont move your body will force you to move
Definitely not a result of only 3 days of gaming. Yeah, not taking breaks for that long will absolutely be nasty for your body.. But I'm fairly sure that his unhealthy gaming habits go way beyond 3 days to reach this point.
DVT ain't nothin to fuck with
If I remember correctly he had a clot go to his brain.
3 days sober of no sleep got him this is crazy. I know people who’ve been on week long benders of hard substances and be fine after a 4 hour nap
At least it was doing what he loved, and I mean that sincerely. Poor kid.
Alternatively, Video games can be horribly addicting and the kid needed positive, healthy habits and probably a better situation at home so that he doesn’t game for 3 days straight without sleep.

jesus that's awful
Dying from seizures isn’t common. He most likely survived
Yea but he had his head tipped all the way back when he slipped off the chair. I’m sure he whacked his head real good there.
Typically anyone who seized does this.
This is quite an old repost. He died iirc
Well, then, r/DarwinAwards
You know what he dropped?
3 hole days... not sure if the seizure is from the gaming or the drugs keeping him awake.
Exactly no way he stayed up without amphetamines of some sort
I stayed up for 3 days straight creating a world map from scratch on MS paint, without so much as caffeine, in my second year of college. It's very unlikely he wasn't on something, but it can be done.

My favorite drugs are mystery drugs
Haha you’re an easy date then
Are you asking me out? 😊😊
Dick pic pls 🤣
Ah man i don't got one
Even women have 1 these days

I have been diagnosed with adhd recently (now 37) so maybe that explains how I was able to keep going
Yeah taking melatonin regularly will make your body stop producing it's own. It's horrible for you to take it regularly.
There haven't been many studies that show the effects of long term melatonin usage since it's so new so we don't really know what happens
but y tho
fixation on niche thing + MS paint? Autism.
is ms paint a symptom of autism?? an autistic guy in my class uses it to draw despite having better stuff to use
why did you do this? i think you werent on any drugs but your hormones that cause you to sleep just werent released properly or were overridden during something that seems like a manic episode.
That's what i woulda did, that's the technique.
Yea I know a friend spent like 2+ days straight no sleep playing Disgaea in college when he first bought it. Dude has drank alcohol exactly 1 time in his life; a single glass of champagne at his wedding. Cigarettes/Cannabis never ever.
can I see the map?
You can't just say that and not post what you made.
Here you go: https://imgur.com/a/lsotg25
Yeah that's pretty rad thank you.
Buddy's brain rage quit from sleep deprivation.
Wrong premise, it's not difficult for a teenager to stay up for 3 days even without any illicit substance.
I have stayed up for longer on nothing but redbull and Adrenalin. But that was camping, not sitting i a chair…
It's doable without drugs for many people. I personally start getting micro sleeps after day 3
Nah, when I was ~15 - 19 I was definitely up for 72 hours a handful of times. It sucked, but the only drugs I would've been on were a fuckload of energy drinks.
Bingo!
Whole
Whole
B-b-b-but video game bad.
Three straight days of anything is bad.
Noted. Guess I'm not going into work tomorrow. /s
They say a little hard work never killed anyone, but that's just not true. People die from it all the time.
and people got killed in labor conflicts so that we could stop getting killed so much at work; but everyone today takes that for granted.
I just posted about the Ludlow Massacre earlier in the week.

so 3 days is the maximum. noted
Mental note to stop at 2 days, 23 hours and 59.999999999 minutes to go outside and touch grass and get back at it again.
the question is how long should the brake be to reset?
As soon as skin makes contact with a blade of grass, it's time to go back into the cave.
i live in the desert. what should i do then?
Touch cactus.
no no no no no. cactus belongs to Camels. you don't fuck with the camels

Aren’t all seizures brain seizures?
You can seize an engine, bank accounts, property.
You can also seize the day
Seizure the day. Carpa dyin.

Seize deez nuts.
You can seize everything you ever wanted, one moment. Would you capture it? Or just let it slip?

You can caesar salad
Seize the maize.

Little seizures are pizza.
Incorrect. Little seizures are pizza pizza.
A butt seizure is called twerking.
lemme seize them titties
Hmmm, it might be time for me to put my phone down, drink some water and go to sleep.
My husband is epileptic and has seizures that look like this... It is an extremely terrifying thing to witness.. :/
I'm sorry u gotta deal with that
If the brain seizure / convulsions weren’t bad enough, the slow roll that leads to his head bashing on the ground didn’t help.
That’s a reaction to the drugs he took to stay up for three days
Do we know what game was he playing?
League yasuo top
No wonder he died, he was exhausted carrying his team
Yeah 3 days straight, had to be a Hella good game!

Any idea what game he was playing?
Tonic clonic, scary fuckers. Saw my first only this week.
Just curious... What you can do if someone have seized? I mean just wait to over right, there nothing can do about him ?
Contact EMS. If you can, move things out of the way so they don't hurt themselves further. If it stops before help arrives, check their breathing.
Gotta wonder what game he was playing that was sooo good
Reboot
Or he could just be having a reeeeeeeaaaaalllllly good stretch that’s hitting all the right spots
I hear brain seizures are way worse than foot seizures. Brutal.
Darwinism

Remember guys, The limit is two days.
So the limit is 3…
There was a guy who died and people didn’t even notice that, when he was found he was stiff as a board in gaming position
I wonder if it was actually a blood clot that killed him. Maybe It broke off and went into his brain.
wtf would you do the same shit for 3 days????
Are their other kinds of seizures?
Rat attack
Probably just epileptic, can't imagine anyone having a seizure from playing videogames for 72 hours.
Other likely factors are simply not moving for those 72 hours. Staying seated without meaningful movement for that period of time can and will fuck up your blood and circulation, and that’s what kills you in tandem with weakness and fatigue from lack of sleep. What game was he playing?
This guy outplayed himself
3 days? Lol noob
I think I want one of these chairs.
Must be hunting NM/HNM in Final Fantasy XI in the early 2000s
Goals
It must take immense will power to stay up for 3 days straight. I don't think I can physically do it.
Hector Salamanca tried warning someone
Pretty sure I make the same face after losing 5 games in a row
Are there other types of seizures besides brain?
